La bocca, exotica, turbo
Emma F.

La Bocca seems to be the only place of it's kind in the area, and that is the only reason I have gone back. I left a review previously giving 2 stars because of the lack of customer service I had gotten at this place. My friends seem to like this place, and so I have been back 4-5 times since that incident which happened in 2012. My opinion has changed since the customer service has improved, and their menu items are consistent and delicious. I have tried these menu items: Turbo: Really good mix of flavors and fruity goodness Half strawberry, half avocado filled with fruit chunks and topped with ashta, pistachio, almonds and honey Avocado Power: DELICIOUS + my favorite Avocado (mixed with milk & honey), with banana chunks and topped with ashta, pistachio, almonds and honey Avocado Tornado: Very good and extremely rich Plate with ashta cream, topped with a sliced avocado, pistachios and honey La Bocca: Fresh & Fruity Strawberry/Banana smoothie with fruit chunks, topped with ashta, pistachio, almonds and honey Jamaica: Crepe filled with nutella, strawberries and bananas. The only item that I really didn't like from their menu is the Chocolate Mo (ice cream). It didn't taste like chocolate at all. OH! and if you're wondering what ASHTA is, it's a traditional milk based pastry cream used in Lebanese desserts. It's rich, creamy and has a hint of a floral aftertaste from the rose and orange blossom water that is used to make it. The place is extremely clean and well-lit. It also has a lot of indoor seating, and some comfy couches. There is an outdoor patio during the warmer weather as well. Pricing: It is a little on the pricey side, but if you consider you are paying for fresh fruit dishes/drinks that are made to order (right in front of you) and a nice place to sit with family or friends (we always stay for at least an hour there), then it's worth it!

Ashta fruity
Amy N.

Got the ashta fruity. It was delicious. Just the right amount of sweetness, it was not overwhelming. The ashta fruity has a nice crepe with bananas, strawberries and papaya and ashta inside while topped with a scoop of ashta sprinkled with pistachios and lightly drizzled with honey. Not your average crepe! The prices were just slightly higher than usual crepe places but it was worth a try. The presentation of the whole menu was looking spectacular. Exactly like the pictures on the menu!! So. Delicious.

++ very delicious healthy foods and desserts + a lot of great combos of fruits and ice cream + one of the best place to hang around with friends or have meetings - a bit expensive

A lovely Mocha and I'm surrounded by tempting treats.

We love Lebanese food as one of our best friends is from Lebanon and opened our eyes. It was sketchy walking in, it looked closed and the parking lot was empty other than 2 other cars. But, upon opening the door and making our way to the dining area it was much better. Clearly this used to be a BIG operation back in the day, but now looks like it is mostly for take out or quick meals. The dining area and kitchen were all bright and clean. The man behind the counter was very friendly and was happy to sell us a couple of falafel on the side. He custom makes each wrap and plate for the guest which is great. You can see the meat on the spits as well as all of the fresh veg and sauces. He takes his time to build it just right for us which was really nice. Good menu options, I would have liked to try more. We really enjoyed our mixed wrap. He was kind enough to put the hot sauce on one half and not the other. Both were great. The falafel was quite dry, and the sauce didn't really help much. Good flavor. Overall it is a solid option, I'd get it again in a pinch, but the meats and falafel were quite dry. Service was great, everything was fresh and it was a great stop for us.

Closed permanently from the looks of it. Drove there from our hotel based on great reviews and…read moreeasy parking. Windows papered over. Empty parking lot.

As soon as you get to the parking lot, you know right away that the locals eat here... I'm not talking about the Ottawa locals, I'm talking about the locals of Lebanon. Walking up to the door you hear Arabic spoken and you know that this place is the real deal. So - been here two times so far, once for take out of Whole grilled boneless chicken ($48) that comes with rice, salad, garlic and turnips. The second time was dine in of Mixed appetizers plate ($30) containing Mousakaa, hommos, baba ghanouj, bamieh bel zeit, warak enabbel zeit, loubya bel zeit and tabouli as well as an order of a plate of Kafta and Lamb skewer. ($25 i think) So lets start with service, was happy with it - seems like a family run place so no issues there. They are busy so expect to wait a bit - I would recommend reserving a table for a specific time and ordering your food when on the way, especially if you go on the weekend because they are BUSYYYY. The food - mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm GOOOOOOOOOOOD!!! The hot food was absolutely delicious!! ITs charcoal gilled and tender and the flavours are intense and delicious. The rice is flavourful and the hummus is absolutely perfect. The only thing I would pass on next time is the appetizer platter because the stewed veggies are cold and I personally prefer to have okra hot - that's a personal preference and not an issue with the actual dish. Oh, I forgot to talk about the take out chicken.... WOW WOW WOW. It was tender and not overcooked in any way. I would absolutely order this again. Im looking forward to trying one of their BBQ fish items. Lemme mention, I lived for 18 years in the middle east and these are truly the flavours of home!

Based on other reviews, especially Keith T.'s, I ordered the half grilled boneless chicken plate with Bokhari rice. The plate also comes with turnips, salad, hummus, and garlic. I decided to upgrade the salad to a fattoush salad, get an additional 2oz hummus and garlic sauce (I didn't know how big/small the ones would be that came with the platter), as well as 2oz of Ali's Hot Sauce and an additional Kabab Halabi skewer. The chicken was cooked perfectly, great char but still super moist. the hot sauce was very spicy. The fresh herbs and vegetables on the side were such a great pairing. The fattoush was good, especially with the extra crispy pita chips on top. I do wish, however, that plain rice was an option, as I actually didn't need flavoured rice and would've preferred plain. My husband ordered a chicken taouk wrap with garlic, lettuce, onion, and tomato, plus batata hara and a Coke Zero. I've never had fateh before and also wanted to try it because of Hadia G.'s review. I got a single order. It had freshly cooked chickpeas with a mix of yogurt and tahini on a bead of pita chips and topped with pine nuts. This was by far my favourite and I could eat it ALL DAY. My husband and I were obsessed. OBSESSED! It was warm and delicious, creamy but not super rich, and very flavourful rather than just salty. I swear it should be illegal to eat this many pita chips, but we just couldn't stop. This is a bold statement, but I think it's one of the top vegetarian dishes I've ever had. It's on the breakfast menu but is available all day. I got knafeh for dessert, also for the first time. It was nice and cheesy, and I expected it to be sweet, but maybe just a little too sweet for me. Since this was my first time trying fateh, I can't compare it to anywhere else, but I would absolutely order it again and again!

Quickly looked at Yelp and saw a fantastic number of reviews. So this place looked to be the real thing. I stepped up to the counter and ordered the beef shawarma platter to eat in. The guys just kept piling more and more on the platter. It was absolutely ridiculously huge by the time they were done. It was stacked with beef on top. As I paid, I asked for a take-out container. There was no hesitation. So obviously, this is the way they do it. I sat in the super clean dining area and started in on this massive dish. Then I saw a young family carry their plates to a table adjacent to me. And they all had these massive plates too. So after stuffing myself and hardly putting a dent in this pile of food I had to load up the take out clamshell. It would hardly close and weighed 2-3lbs (after filling myself). So if you want to buy one dish and eat a tasty healthy meal for a week. This is your place. It seemed very clean in the restaurant (signs say leave your dishes on the table - so they are obviously bussing the tables regularly). The washroom was also exceptionally clean. The staff that built my meat mountain were super friendly. I would certainly recommend this place!

For us modest appetites, this is easily 3 meals - easily! We ordered 2 plates and a sandwich for 4 people and still had enough leftovers for a small breakfast the morning after. My personal favorite was the mixed shawarma plate. I love how it comes with pita made specifically for Shawarma Palace, rice, potatoes, salad, pickled veg, and the meat. We also got the mixed kabob plate which featured tender beef but the chicken kabob was just a hair bit dry. The falafel sandwich was actually very dry and I would not recommend this. We also picked up some baklava for dessert after and I liked how it was just sweet enough! You can taste the pistachios and I thought the kiss of rose water was just enough to make the bite memorable!
