For us modest appetites, this is easily 3 meals - easily! We ordered 2 plates and a sandwich for 4 people and still had enough leftovers for a small breakfast the morning after. My personal favorite was the mixed shawarma plate. I love how it comes with pita made specifically for Shawarma Palace, rice, potatoes, salad, pickled veg, and the meat. We also got the mixed kabob plate which featured tender beef but the chicken kabob was just a hair bit dry. The falafel sandwich was actually very dry and I would not recommend this. We also picked up some baklava for dessert after and I liked how it was just sweet enough! Happened upon this restaurant one evening. I saw a shawarma place on the north side of the street, so I prepared to turn off and go back, but here was another shawarma place. Quickly looked at Yelp and saw a fantastic number of reviews. So this place looked to be the real thing. I stepped up to the counter and ordered the beef shawarma platter to eat in. The guys just kept piling more and more on the platter. It was absolutely ridiculously huge by the time they were done. It was stacked with beef on top. As I paid, I asked for a take-out container. There was no hesitation. So obviously, this is the way they do it. I sat in the super clean dining area and started in on this massive dish. Then I saw a young family carry their plates to a table adjacent to me. And they all had these massive plates too. So after stuffing myself and hardly putting a dent in this pile of food I had to load up the take out clamshell. It would hardly close and weighed 2-3lbs (after filling myself). So if you want to buy one dish and eat a tasty healthy meal for a week. This is your place. It seemed very clean in the restaurant (signs say leave your dishes on the table - so they are obviously bussing the tables regularly). The washroom was also exceptionally clean. My husband and I have been looking for a place like this for a long time. Five minutes of being in Canada and we found the best shawarma place on yelp. We ordered ALOT!!!! My husband got the chicken and beef platter. It came with rice, salad, potatoes, hummus, garlic sauce, and a sesame dressing. Everything was so fresh and the flavor was just out of this world. We got a pita on the side and made our own wraps. The platter works for two people, maybe even 3. Depends on how hungry you are. They give you a generous portion. We walked in and there was only one other customer. And then after we sat down sooooooo many people filed in. The restaurant is very clean and lots of room to sit inside. Came here for late night munchies on a weekday. Most people were doing takeout. The prices are high but the portions are generally big. The meat was dry (could've helped with sauce) and not flavored enough. The toppings were okay. The rice was mushy. The best thing about the meal was the falafels. They were huge in the most flavorful part of our meal. I recommend getting half and half meats because the people in front of us did that and they had bigger portions. The service was poor. This place was packed on a Sunday night for dinner. Lots of people eating in, getting takeout, and also delivery. The price for the plate seemed more expensive than in Toronto but after considering the size, it made sense. Everything tasted great. Despite being probably the 20th person in line, you could tell they were really efficient with what they did as the line move fairly quickly. We ordered the chicken shawarma and they really packed it up to the brim as the amount of food in the container was about to pop open. I visited this place when I was in Ottawa for job interview. I was hungry and didn't care much about where I eat. I went here for a quick byte and found my takeout was stale and very dry. I also understand that in the pandemic it can happen so I can give this place benefit of the doubt, 3-star because I couldn't eat the food and had to go to a timhortons :( Staff was good and prompt though. Ordered two Falafel Sandwiches, a veggie platter, a small potatoes and a small Baba Ghanoush for four of us. The falafel sandwiches were good. The falafel itself are huge and so the sauce and pita together made it a little dry. Ask for extra sauce for a better experience in my opinion. The veggie platter is huge and delicious. The broccoli and cauliflower were the best. A salad, vine leaf, falafel, potatoes, hummus and some more condiments come with it. Absolutely amazing. The falafel has a mint taste to it which was a nice touch. The potatoes and garlic sauce served are most amazing I have ever tasted. The sauce a bit too garlicky even for a garlic lover I think. The baba Ghanoush was plain is served with two pitas. All the food had a bit too much salt as well. I think they need to tone down it a bit. Otherwise it met our expectations. We have shawarma and lots of it but...there is no shawarma palace... What I'm saying is, we have shawarma but Ottawa reigns supreme in Lebanese food. Shawarma palace is the most popular shawarma place in Ottawa and it's not hard to see why. The quality and the quantity of this place is absurd. You do pay a tad more than an average place in the GTA, but the quality here is really special and you can share one plate! Finishing it is another story, but the two of us came in famished and left in a food coma. We went with the mixed chicken and beef plate, and couldn't believe how high the plate was at the end. The guy behind the counter skillfully carved and slices the meat off the rotisserie, the speed he also put things on the plate was almost like a show. Every single component of the plate was done well. The meat was tender, the potatoes were crisp and garlicky. There was plenty of both delicious hummus and garlic sauce. The rice was done perfectly and the salad was crisp. We same them make and top off the counters multiple times. To top it off, there's some good pickled vegetables. Anytime when I make the trip out to Ottawa this is the place I always come to grab good meal. Shawarma palace is awesome. The portions of the food they give you is ginormous! Shawarma is typically the same I find in most places on how they serve it, maybe some places give different ingredients and some places have better meat but overall the appearance is pretty similar. This place I find there chicken quite tasty. The second time I had come the chicken was a little bit dryer than I had experienced my first time around (probably because I had gone later at night my second go). I tried a chicken shawarma plate and a mixed plate on both visits. I personally like the chicken more as it has more flavor and less dry compared to the beef. A single plate is almost impossible for just 1 person to eat cleanly by themselves. The plates are best split between 2 people as it's a good portion for splitting. For just 1 person you'll be going into a food coma half way (unless you have a high metabolism and can eat alot then your crazy lol) Very starchy and high carb meal so if your super hungry and looking for a good bang for your buck come to this place. Aside from the food, the place outside looks pretty grungy and old and inside is kinda dirty as well but they do have staff cleaning and wiping tables afterwards. There can get a long line while ordering at random times, so when you get here you may need to line up. But usually the dirty places seem to have the better food ;) read more
