I only took off a star because the prices are higher than I would normally pay for this type of meal. Based on other reviews, especially Keith T.'s, I ordered the half grilled boneless chicken plate with Bokhari rice. The plate also comes with turnips, salad, hummus, and garlic. I decided to upgrade the salad to a fattoush salad, get an additional 2oz hummus and garlic sauce (I didn't know how big/small the ones would be that came with the platter), as well as 2oz of Ali's Hot Sauce and an additional Kabab Halabi skewer. The chicken was cooked perfectly, great char but still super moist. the hot sauce was very spicy. The fresh herbs and vegetables on the side were such a great pairing. The fattoush was good, especially with the extra crispy pita chips on top. I do wish, however, that plain rice was an option, as I actually didn't need flavoured rice and would've preferred plain. My husband ordered a chicken taouk wrap with garlic, lettuce, onion, and tomato, plus batata hara and a Coke Zero. I've never had fateh before and also wanted to try it because of Hadia G.'s review. I got a single order. It had freshly cooked chickpeas with a mix of yogurt and tahini on a bead of pita chips and topped with pine nuts. This was by far my favourite and I could eat it ALL DAY. My husband and I were obsessed. OBSESSED! It was warm and delicious, creamy but not super rich, and very flavourful rather than just salty. I swear it should be illegal to eat this many pita chips, but we just couldn't stop. This is a bold statement, but I think it's one of the top vegetarian dishes I've ever had. It's on the breakfast menu but is available all day. I got knafeh for dessert, also for the first time. It was nice and cheesy, and I expected it to be sweet, but maybe just a little too sweet for me. Les Grillades is located in what I'm gonna say is a quasi industrial area, at least that's the impression I got driving there. As soon as you get to the parking lot, you know right away that the locals eat here... I'm not talking about the Ottawa locals, I'm talking about the locals of Lebanon. Walking up to the door you hear Arabic spoken and you know that this place is the real deal. So - been here two times so far, once for take out of Whole grilled boneless chicken ($48) that comes with rice, salad, garlic and turnips. The second time was dine in of Mixed appetizers plate ($30) containing Mousakaa, hommos, baba ghanouj, bamieh bel zeit, warak enabbel zeit, loubya bel zeit and tabouli as well as an order of a plate of Kafta and Lamb skewer. ($25 i think) So lets start with service, was happy with it - seems like a family run place so no issues there. They are busy so expect to wait a bit - I would recommend reserving a table for a specific time and ordering your food when on the way, especially if you go on the weekend because they are BUSYYYY. The food - mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm GOOOOOOOOOOOD!!! The hot food was absolutely delicious!! ITs charcoal gilled and tender and the flavours are intense and delicious. The rice is flavourful and the hummus is absolutely perfect. The only thing I would pass on next time is the appetizer platter because the stewed veggies are cold and I personally prefer to have okra hot - that's a personal preference and not an issue with the actual dish. Oh, I forgot to talk about the take out chicken.... WOW WOW WOW. It was tender and not overcooked in any way. I would absolutely order this again. We had a group reunion with old friends and were invited for dinner here as they recommended this place for middle eastern cuisine. We gathered at this unique restaurant and we were seated to a nice clean table. Server was very kind and prepared us a really awesome minty drink compliments from the chef. It was To die for .. it had a lemony/mint flavour was really in awe for the drink all it was missing was a bit of rhum lol but unfortunately they don't have drinks as it's a halal restaurant. Service: A1 it also helps that our friend knows the owner well so we got great amazing service. However, if we were to come here on our own, I'm sure it wouldn't be no different as there is tons of people and the place gets quite busy with lots of families, that's a great sign that the food and service is Good! Food: it is very fresh and tender .. my favourite was the lamb kebab it was delicious. Tender and loved the grilled meat assortments altogether. We discovered this restaurant during our trip to Ottawa in June 2019, restaurant was super busy due to Ramadan. In spite of no reservations, we were seated within 10 mins (family of 3). Our waitress was very nice and super quick. Food arrived quickly and overall very tasty. Service- 4/5 Food- 4/5. Being a vegetarian, options are very limited (nothing unusual at a Lebanese restaurant though). Their appetizer platter was worth the money ($25). I recalled enjoyed their okra and beans dishes. I've driven by it everyday and finally got a chance to stop by with my family and give it a try! My cousin from Australia was in town visiting and being a traveler of the world (just flying in from Spain, Morocco and Germany) he was impressed. What we ordered: Baba Ghanouj : which is grilled eggplant mixed with tahini, garlic and fresh lemon juice; this was delicious and devoured almost all my pita bread before the main came. My boyfriend was craving middle eastern food so I took him to this nearby restaurant. He loved the food - it was perfect. We ordered one single plate (grilled lamb shish kabab), 2 appetizers (Warak Enab Bel Zeite and baba ghanouj), and left extremely full. I've never tried Warak Enab Bel Zeite before, but the server recommended it. It was AMAZING and I highly recommend it! Their garlic sauce is so decadent, I loved it too. Honestly, everything had great flavours. Food is 5/5! The service has room for improvement. We were told we had to wait when there were at least 20 empty reserved tables. I've never seen this happen before. Usually restaurants only give reservations 15 minutes to arrive or let diners know they have a given amount of time (like 1.5hrs) to dine before the reservation arrives. I've even seen restaurants seat diners in a sharing table style (i.e. a couple is sitting at a table for 4, so another couple is seated with them as there were 2 empty seats). "Oh my fuck..." Is what I say every time I bite into their whole grilled boneless chicken. This is a special piece of meat. Juicy and delicious. The lamb chops were perfectly cooked, as well. The rice is fragrant, the potatoes are next level, the turnips, garlic and other accoutrements are better than any Lebanese restaurant in Ottawa. Service is excellent but do yourself a favour. Wow! I was super-impressed with this place, although we only had a light lunch. The group ordered the mixed appetizers platter and two orders of falafel to share. The hummus and dips in the appetizers platter were all outstanding - so nice! The falafel (just plain) was one of the best I've tasted. The pita was dry and not fresh - felt like it was left standing for hours. The meat was not bad so that's why I am giving 3 stars and not 1. This family-owned restaurant used to be located near Tunney's Pasture (on Holland Ave) a few years ago. Fortunately, the excellent quality of food has not changed, even if driving out to Colonnade Road is now a bit far. But this is possibly the best (or one of the best) Lebanese restaurants in Ottawa --- and therefore worth the trip. On our latest visit (for Sunday dinner in mid-summer 2017), we found the new venue to be bright and spacious --- if not necessarily quiet and intimate: a lot of people (and a lot of families) eat there, so it can get busy. The server we had was very helpful, attentive and polite; and the portion-sizes here are very generous, so unless you are super hungry, you will be asking for take-home containers (which the restaurant provides). The food served here is absolutely fresh --- starting with the small appetizers brought to every table: the home-made hummus is smooth and delicious (possibly the best hummus you can get without going to the Mid-East); and you also get garlic dipping sauce, pita and pickled turnip pieces. The chicken dinner is tasty and the meat is nicely-seasoned and moist. I had a large lamb dish called Mandi: a bed of yellow-rice with a large amount of meat on a bone --- and I also had a side-dish of okra in a tomato-sauce (Bamieh bel zeite). Lots of good flavours and I know that their other dishes are also tasty. I know that at some point, I will be going back to Les Grillades --- and I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone seeking fresh Middle-Eastern food (or anyone who is really hungry)... read more

Today I had some time to kill while waiting for my car to be detailed, and have been meaning to stop by to try it out since Grillmans closed down a while ago. I was the only one in the restaurant - not surprising as it was 2pm on a Tuesday. I ordered the boneless half chicken dinner. Bread, garlic sauce, hummus, and turnips came out shortly after a jug of water was placed on the table. Was the water going to poured for me? I guess not. Then the main course arrrived. WOW. DELICIOUS. JUICY. Cooked just right. Was able to cut it with a butter knife. Once I was finished, I wondered if my bill would be placed on the table, or if I was going to be offered dessert and coffee? The person who seated and served me passed my table three times without approaching. I got up and smiled at her, she directed me to the front cash. HUH? No dessert? No coffee? Hmmm, I guess that's how they do things here. As I paid my bill, I became aware that someone in the area needed a shower. Good thing I noticed this after the meal. Had it been before, I probably would not have asked to be seated. In short, food is excellent. Service? Let's just say it's different than one might expect. Co-workers and I had been planning a luncheon event for our office and had booked Les Grillades for our event. The owner and manager were very friendly and flexible. There were about 40 of us and we would be occupying the restaurant for about 3 hours. We had 4 long tables set near the windows side of the restaurant and were even able to set a projector, screen, computer and speakers. They catered a menu to us that was served as a buffet line near where we were sitting. We had hummus, pitas, salad, tabouli, potatoes, rice, falafel and chicken. We ate as much as we wanted and everything was delicious. I especially liked the rice, which was different from other Lebanese/shawarma restaurants I had been to before. I don't know what they put in it, it almost tasted like curry. It was delicious! The chicken was perfectly cooked and tender. The potatoes were perfectly spiced and the hummus just right. The falafels were a bit dry, but it was my first time trying them. I didn't dislike them but probably wouldn't order them if I came to eat here on my own or with friends. The staff was very friendly and efficient. They were quick to go around with drinks and we were given big pitchers of water on each tables. The dishes were cleared quickly once we were done either and we were served coffee, tea and baklava. Everything was part of a set price we had agreed upon before booking this restaurant for our lunch event. The food was delicious and the service was great. Everyone was happy and satisfied. Let me just start by saying that I LOVE THIS PLACE. It is not a fancy restaurant but it is certainly a place that families get together happily and comfortably without being too loud or crazy. The food is always amazing and the grilled meats are the type of thing that will haunt your dreams and make you drive to an industrial park to visit this place over and over. The lamb is amazing and grilled perfectly every time and without fail the matriarch of the business will come and check up on you (as she does with every table) to make sure you are happy. She is absolutely adorable and the serving staff is always fantastic. Value for money is great here as I think you get more than what you pay for. Definitely check this place out. The good: The food is delicious. It is seasoned well, tasty, and prices are pretty fair. The bad: The service is painfully slow, inconsistent, and they seem more content serving their regulars than those they don't know. The first time we went, they rushed us to accommodate a group. The second time, we watched 2 groups get seated before we did and we arrived first and had been waiting 10 minutes to get seated. We also saw other groups after us get their menu and food before us. We had to ask several times for menus, our food, and it took 2 hours to get out of the restaurant - by which time our child was exhausted and we didn't even get to really enjoy the experience. If you have all the time in the world and a lot of patience, this is a great choice - if not, go somewhere else where they cater better to their diners. A real treasure on the corner of Colonnade and Prince of Wales. Having relocated from Holland Ave a few years ago this family run Lebanese restaurant is superb, and boasts a loyal following, myself included. The grilled meals on the menu include hummus, salad, garlic, grilled tomato, onions and savoury, delectable rice. The lamb kebab is juicy and delicious, the lamb, beef Kafka also perfect. Both dishes are two skewers of meat which is more than sufficient. Prices are quite reasonable given the portions and all that is included. If you like lamb and/or grilled meats (chicken or beef) this place is worth trying. The service is always friendly and efficient, the restaurant is relaxed atmosphere, seating either comfortable booths or tables. Very much worth the drive to this out of the way gem. read more

Very positive about food and service at first. The owner advised us not to take two main dishes ($20 each) because we had a big appetizer ($21). We agreed and cancelled one dish and shared the one remaining. We finished with a pot of tea and one baklava ($1,50). We paid $57 total which is fine if the tea price is $15. What the right calculation really is will remain unclear because as tourists we won't have time to return to the restaurant today.
