Finally moved across the street into a storefront at Pearl Kai! . Same menu, more staff. Still had a decent wait time just for my 3 birria taco order but being indoors at a table with AC beats waiting in a parking lot in the heat any day. Also, it was Cinco de Mayo & a Tuesday - so naturally they were kinda busy. . Congrats to another storefront (:

Located in Pearl Kai Shopping ( across from Vitamins store) with ample of parking. Stop by for lunch yesterday. I ordered queso birria tacos and horachat. You get 3 tacos for $14 and consume. The birria tacos was perfectly flavored and seasoned. Packed with beef and cheese. Service was quick. I didn't wait long for my tacos. Definitely will go back.

Had my co-worker pic up a box for my birthday lunch and oh they were soooo delicious...

@fortunefoodfinds: "TACO Tuesday, but make it RAMEN-tic! Queso Birria Tacos + Consommé n' a Birria Ramen from LA BIRRIA in Aiea. Delicious n' savory with every bite, they've got several locations so don't let this spice outta sight!" SERVICE: friendly INTERIOR: spacious, seating can can get filled up quicky if busy EXTERIOR: located in the Pearl Kai Shopping Center, where Monarch Poke used to be, next door to Baskin Robbins WAIT TIME: no more than 10 mins after placing order to receiving food PARKING: free lot, small spaces OVERALL COMMENTS: menu is simple, great if you're indecisive. The queso Birria tacos by itself weren't spicy, which was good bc my 5 y/o son was able to eat it n' he really liked it. The tacos were crunchy on the outside n' cheesy on the inside. It came with consommé that was well flavored n' seasoned to perfection. The Birria ramen was filling n' enough to feed two. It came with lots of ramen noodles underneath that I was able to give my 1 y/o before pouring the consommé over. They also didn't skip out on the meat, which was rich, thick, n' bold in flavor after mixing it with the consommé. Both items were really good n' prices were reasonable for the amount of food you get. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for Birria tacos n' Birria ramen!

Pickled jalepenos were so good! For an area that really struggles for Mexican food this definitely hits the spot

Enjoyed it when they were parked next to the Malasada truck across from Pearl Kai shopping center.

Said that we could sit at any open table. First time there, she gave us time to look over the menu. Good selection, one is ground beef which one of my dinning companion likes. Chips and salsa right off the back. Mmmmm. 1) Cheese Burrito plate. Very good. 2) Taquitos plate. Crunchy, not over cooked. 3) Tamale / taco combo plate. I loved that the taco didn't crack in half when I bite into it like some other taco places. 4) Ground beef chimichanga. All plates comes with Spanish rice and refried beans. Pros: Nice portions that would fill you up. Food came hot and fresh. Con: Maybe it might have been me but, I would have like more chip and salsa. There was only one server, so service was slow or maybe it was the kitchen. Not sure. I hate these 3% charge card when paying for your food. Would I go back? Maybe. It's close to where I live and it's not as crowded as other places that are more known. Parking is easy when I went. I like that my crunchy tocos don't break apart when you eat it.

We walked in and had to ask if they were open as we weren't immediately greeted. We got to choose our seats and tried to find the coolest spot because it was hot inside! According to the server--their ac was broken. It reminded us of traveling to Mexico and eating at the restaurants there . The decor is very similar and authentic to restaurants in Mexico. They even had lots of the candies found there surrounding their register area. The server was super friendly and attentive once we were seated, I just wish she would've written down our order instead of trying to take it all by memory as she got some things wrong with our order. Now onto the food. Mexican food in Hawaii is nothing to write home about. This was no exception. Our family of 4 ordered: the California Burrito, the super burrito (I actually ordered the chimichanga but it came out as a burrito), Birria tacos, Birria quesadilla, a bean and cheese burrito (the hubby's favorite thing to order at a Mexican restaurant) and because it was taco Tuesday--the carne asada street tacos (which I think the server forgot because we had to remind her) and the flan for dessert. The burritos were of good size and nicely filled. I enjoyed the super burrito but it needed the red sauce that was put on the table. The shrimp inside was very flavorful. My daughter loved her California burrito (it has French fries in it--lol). The birria was delicious--the consommé was pretty bland though. The bean and cheese burrito was cold in the middle and not as generously sized as the other burritos. The best thing that we had was the flan. I love flan and the texture of theirs was amazing. The sauce was a mixed review with the family. I liked it and the fact that there was a lot of it. There was a slight fridge taste but it was still delicious. My husband tried to make a suggestion about moving the large truck that was in front of the restaurant blocking the breeze from coming (remember the broken AC...and this is a hot August afternoon) but upon telling our server he felt dismissed. He was told that the AC was broken and supposedly to be fixed soon, but she didn't acknowledge his suggestion to move the vehicle to let some air in--it's disappointing that when a customer that takes the time to provide genuine feedback to be left feeling dismissed instead of appreciation for the feedback. I feel bad for whomever may have dined after us as it was mighty warm in there...

They have pretty cool merch here as well. Lots of space inside and it's clean and well-organized. Came over to meet up with some friends and they had already ordered some dishes to share. Also had a jug/pitcher of something light, although I can't remember what it was. Tasted just fine. Ordered the following: - Beef tacos - 5/10: shredded beef on a corner tortilla. A little overseasoned I thought. And cheddar cheese should not go on tacos. - Katsu chair siu - 5/10: Normally you'd get this traditional dish in pork or chicken. But they used char siu here. Wasn't working for me. - Fries with char siu on top - 4/10: meh. Char siu and fries don't go well with each other, especially when you drizzle teriyaki-type sauce on top. Too sweet that there's a bit of an imbalance in flavor. They also had open mic karaoke here. Crowd was kinda dead, so we tried to liven them up with a familiar country tune. Didn't work. Oh well. It's mid-week and we can't sing, so... Anyway, this isn't a bad spot to grab some brews and a few things to munch on. Onto the next.
