La Barca Birria de Chivo

The place is definitely outdated but does feel clean. It was early morning so not busy. The waitresses were nice and helpful either the menu and their service. The food was okay. I had chilaquiles and they were pretty hot!! Can never go wrong with that. I did love their chips!! Not sure if I would go back to this location.

2.9 stars? Oh please -- this place is a solid 5..Between the smothered burrito and creamy refried beans, La Barca Jalisco can beat any burrito spot in a 15-mile radius. We didn't even plan on coming here -- our car broke down right outside. While waiting for the tow truck, we decided to give it a shot... and man, this was the best surprise yet The burrito de asada is a behemoth -- stuffed with flavorful asada and loaded with rice and beans. Every bite hits. The chips and salsa? Fresh. The plate? Excellent. The service? On point. The vibe is authentic, the energy is welcoming, and the food speaks.

Cockroach on the wall

Been coming here for years and the service and cleanliness is getting worse I ordered my food when I noticed cockroaches climbing the walls I told the waitress and said that's completely normal I was shocked by her response I couldn't finish my food how disgusted I was this place needs a major remodel maybe the roaches will leave that way I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like i have video of the cockroaches but I believe I can only upload pictures I will not be coming back

I am not sure why the ratings here are relatively low. My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for many years and every time we leave satisfied with our order. I have tried many dishes but some of my favorites are the molcajete which reminds me of hotpot, the chicken sopes, and the carne asada plate. They make handmade tortillas and provide chips and tasty salsa for free as appetizer, and those are unlimited along with the tortillas. Moving onto the drinks, I love their fresh Aguas Fresca (not too sweet) and they also offer fresh squeezed orange juice. The service is always great. Everyone is kind and attentive. The wait can be long on Saturday and Sunday mornings as families tend to come during that time, but any other time there is not much of a wait. Ambiance is roaring with lots of conversations and a vibrant atmosphere. I enjoy it because it reminds me of a family party. Genuinely it feels like family whenever we visit. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant by far don't let the reviews deter you from this gem :)

It's an older restaurant that could use an upgrade. Decor is outdated but the place is clean. Family vibe and super friendly staff. We were seated immediately and a high chair was already setup without us asking. Came in for brunch and we noticed the handmade tortillas. They were amazing. Hot,fresh and ready. I ordered eggs abuelita. Very delicious and spicy. I loved their rice too. Not dry with a hint of chicken broth. Also ordered a carne asada burrito. Good quality meat cooked to perfection. My child enjoyed her quesadilla. Our server Sassy was amazing. We really enjoyed our food and we can't wait to go back.

We had to travel several cities away to come here now that their location in El Monte closed down permanently. I had the birria and my mom had the molcajete. We both loved it. My dad, who is the birria expert, said that the birria was better in El Monte. I could not taste the difference, it tasted just as good to me.

Service was terrible. Took long to take our order. Also, we ordered a molcajete and it was terrible, we thought it was a side of potato soup. Turns out that was the "molcajete" literally 6 shrimp and half a Chile, a quarter of a nopal and lots of tomato sauce. They never checked in to ask if we needed anything. Bad never coming back.

I'll give it a 2 because our waitress was kind.so we've driven past this spot many times and usually see the parking lot full. So, we decided to try it out today. We should have walked right back out, but we've always known not to judge a book by it's cover. This place looks like a very run down greasy spoon type place with a desperate need for revamping. And the smell was very potent of a chemical used for mopping, not pinesol either. Menus were bright over as was chips and salsa. That was ok. Menu very limited it seemed. No guacamole... at a Mexican restaurant?!? Two types of burritos and we'll we figured let's give it a shot. A taquito plate and a fried quesadilla. Hmmmm rice and beans were horrible! Quesadilla was meh. And we'll we ate some and covered the rest with a napkin, paid our bill and vowed to sadly never go back there again. When we went out to the parking lot, we hadn't noticed, but piles of empty boxes and trash bags all over the floor. Yet they have a big trash bin. Who knows and really who cares. Just not good food at all!

Pretty quaint place. Came in for weekday lunch and it was a quick service. They sat us down, took our order, gave us our food, and then we paid and left. Food - was alright. Tolerable and didn't get me sick. Got the carne asada plate and ordered it medium rare. It was nothing to gawk about. Beans were eh but the rice was good. Salad was just large lettuce pieces and sliced tomatoes with red onion. Not a fan. Service - Very friendly and helpful. Attentive and very courteous. Parking - they have a back lot so there should be parking, but I can see it getting annoying if it ever got REALLY REALLY busy. Not sure if I'd come back at my own accord, but I would definitely wouldn't complain if someone suggested this place and brought me here. I'd be very much willing to try their other food.

My right leg with some bug bites I got at the restaurant sitting on a booth! (Excuse my hairs, but obviously I can't shave right now!)

I thought the food was fair, the service was poor and the prices were high. I would hope that these would change in the future.

Definitely worth it! The chilaquiles are one of the best we have had! We ordered both the green and…read morethe red ones with over medium eggs. The green ones were spicier and very flavorful!!! You could really taste the tomatillo flavor. The red ones were also tasty. I ordered the medium ones just in case they were too spicy but not spice at all. I will definitely ordered the hot ones next time! We also ordered the mollete with chorizo and cheese!! Another great dish!!! All the right flavors!!! Service is good. They greet you and ask if dining in or for take out. We ate there so she assigned us a table and said to order first then we sit down. Very efficient and quick ordering system. Lots of tables available to sit at. There are three sections available.

My girlfriend wanted chilaquiles and someone recommended this place. Girl on the counter was rude,…read moreno social skills because she seemed bothered for having to deal with pesky customers. Although it is very common for restaurants to put the person with the least amount of customer service skills on the front, this restaurant takes the cake. Then we get our chilaquiles (I got red, girlfriend green), I realized they used cheese similar to Monterey or mozzarella (white grated cheese) on our food. Now, I my family is from Guadalajara and DF, we don't use that cheese on chilaquiles soni was very disappointed because I immediately hated the food. We ate because we had already paid but I didn't like it and my girlfriend told me we should've gone to El Guajillo or La Casa de la Abuela in Huntington Park even though we live in Whittier. The I look at the photos and I see they do use queso fresco on chilaquiles, so why did ours came with a different cheese?! If they run out we should've been informed and if it was an option we were not told. If you want real chilaquiles and good service check El Guajillo or La Casa de la Abuela both in Huntington Park
