The actual bar is to the left of the entrance. I love that they have a variety of drink specials as well as nonalcoholic beverages. I was hoping to get a taste of the food, but the kitchen doesn't open until 4pm. I would also suggest coming later if you want to catch a show from the live band or explore their seasonal mazes. There's plenty of photo ops, jenga, corn hole, pool, foosball, connect four, pacman, and a few other arcade games. This place is completely filled with 80s, 90s, and early 2000s' nostalgia. It's the perfect spot of tourist and for native austinites. There also a lot of vintage signs from old stores and restaurants that were local to austin as well. I would say this spot is worth the hype! I also give bonus points for the shops & food trucks outside of the bar. The perfect place to hang out with friends and have some fun.

One of our friends from Mexico City, Mexico says she wanted authentic Mexican food, and she says she always frequents Botanero Sports Bar when she comes to Austin. To be honest, I was skeptical...great Mexican food in a sports bar...sounded to me like an oxymoron. I was pleasantly surprised with the restaurant interior, food presentation and entrée authenticity. Loved the restaurant vibe...true Mexico. The only thing missing was a mariachi band. A band was coming in when we were leaving, so perhaps they were getting ready to play. Love mariachis...reminds me of home. After nibbling on complementary chips and salsa / spicy sauce, we ordered several dishes: fajitas, carne asada, flautas, and ceviche tower. The carne asada was hit and loved by the majority of us. The beef was tender and flavorful. Also, the plate came with refried beans, rice, onion, salad, and cactus along with tortillas. Most dishes came with rice and beans. The fajitas were served piping hot as you see streams of smoke coming from the skillet they were served on. The flautas were ok...would not order them again. In addition, while the ceviche tower was aesthetically beautiful, it was a bit bland. Important to note, was the serving dishes that were being presented throughout the restaurant such as a large soup bowl the size of a mixing bowl, a dish served in a large gray porous bowl that looked to be made from stone or shrimp served in a standing bowl that looked similar an oversized wine glass. It was so fun to watch all these presentations of food. Our friend had a birthday two days ago and we celebrated today. One of my friends ordered an appetizer/drink for the birthday girl. I have never seen anything like it. There were six cans of Modelo beer (beer had chamoy and tahine on the sides) covered on the top with cucumbers, shrimp, olives, and other mystery ingredients. This was so fascinating to watch. I ate a couple of spicy cucumbers but skipped the beer. My friends loved the beer! They ordered another Mexican beer called Victoria. This beer is from Mexico City. The restaurant staff provided our friend with a sombrero to wear while we sang happy birthday to her. They also provided a complimentary piece of chocolate cake. I was absolutely fascinated with experiencing this meal which titillated all your senses. I can honestly say this the most authentic Mexican restaurant that I have dined at in Austin!

For reasons that make no sense to any experienced summer festival-goer, the Q2 powers-that-be decided to make this a "no re-entry" event, meaning that attendees are basically locked in the stadium with very few options for relief from the heat. Thank heaven for PointsBet Sports Bar! PointsBet Austin is located inside of Q2 stadium on the north end near the Zebra Gate, up some stairs just to your right as you enter the gate. They have cold air-conditioning, at least one phone recharging station, a few table games, seating for at least 50 people, and standing room for a couple hundred others. Plus, there's a huge horseshoe bar serving plenty of canned and mixed beverages. The whole north wall is floor-to-ceiling windows, providing plenty of natural light. Lastly, there are 18 flatscreens around the walls showing various sporting events and during our concert, a couple were streaming a live view of the concert stage. As expected, prices were "high" (like everything else in Austin these days), but they were in line with pricing available at the other beverage stands outside in the stadium, so we didn't pay any more than we would have out there for the same drink. According to their website, PointsBet opens 3 hours before soccer matches on regular Q2 game days, and it's one of the few air-conditioned places where non-VIP attendees can get a break from the goings-on outside.

I placed my lunch order using the QR code, but in the future I would probably go inside to order, as it felt like multiple steps. My son and I ordered burgers -- he got his with fries and I got mine with tots -- and my daughter ordered the hot honey turkey biscuit. It took quite a while for the food to come out, but what I will say is that the burger I ordered is literally one of the best burgers I have ever had. It had the right amount of savory, sweet, and crunchiness, along with the juiciness of the burger patty. I don't live in that area, but the next time I'm nearby, I would go there just to get that burger!

It is a sports bar It has a million attractive wonderful aspects. It has a million pain in the neck aspects. Everything is a good news bad news joke. But the good news is pretty good. * * * I ran into the bad news right upon entering the restaurant. There was not a comfortable table to sit at anywhere in the restaurant except at the bar. Benches were so low that it was like being a four year old at the grown up table. I would have needed a telephone book to reach the table. Regular chairs don't face the TV so you have to crane your neck to see the sports. Comfortable curved sofa benches exist, but they are 500 miles from the TV. So I tried seat after seat after seat before ending up at the bar. The bar was okay. * * * The bar choices are ample and slim. There were surprisingly thin offerings on beer. There were WONDERFUL listings on bourbon and rye. I am a rye drinker, so I was in hog heaven. The tequila listings were pretty good too. Gin drinkers, scotch drinkers and vodka drinkers were just going to have to take what was available. The cocktail menu was about average. I was in a golden cloud of glory with all my choices. Angel's Envy Rye is first rate libation that is simultaneously fiercely peppery and sublimely smooth. Rough on the taste means usually means rough going down. This was BDSM with the grace of a feather. I was in love. * * * Chile con carne was a beautiful chili with brisket rather than the usual hamburger. Flavoring was superb. The brisket chunks were three times as big as you would comfortably want to put in your mouth all at once. You don't want to take a fork and knife to a bowlful of chili. So I was struggling to eat my meat all night while at the same time admiring the quality of the recipe. Cover 3 Kitchen Preppers: How much extra work is it really to cut your meat into manageablely sized pieces? * * * Garlic Mashed Potatoes had a picture of garlic walked in front of the potatoes while they were boiling. Garlic? What garlic? The handful of mouthfuls with butter were good. The rest was empty starch. * * * The human beings working the bar were fantastic. Two of the nicest and most helpful ladies working in the bartending trade. Good people count for a lot in a restaurant. * * * The sports televisions were great. Watching Duke eke out a one point win over Louisville in women's basketball was good times. * * * Then comes the dessert. Dark clouds. The brownie with three scoops of ice cream, candied pecans, and caramel sauce tasted fantastic. It was an irresistible end to a meal. But brownies should really really not be the size of a big box store. Remember from English class - "Enough! No More! Tis not so sweet now as it was before." The brownie was three to five times the size of a regular brownie - and this was before all the extra stuff was put on top of it. It was super rich and super good the way brownies are supposed to be. It was gooey the way super brownies are supposed to be. But the only human being in history who could have managed that sucker was Diamond Jim Brady, the notorious glutton of the Gilded Age. (Four T-bone steaks, two ducks, a half a dozen lobsters, three dozen oysters, two pounds of candy and an entire pastry tray were a normal dinner for him. He could go for more if there were special treats.) I went from being happy and in a good mood to being a little full, then more than full, then Jesus-Christ-I-Can't-Stand-It-Anymore. I left half of that brownie on my plate, and left Cover 3 nauseated and staggering. Not the way you want to end an otherwise fine evening. * * * Cover 3 has its definite attractions - even if you have to put up with the chairs. Bourbon and rye drinkers, take especial note. If you are going to have dessert, Bring a Sunday School bus full of second graders with you. One dessert will be enough to feed the bus.

The food ordering is through a QR code sticker on each table. When we went, they had a cute fall display for photo ops and a photo booth that is more permanent. I ordered the brisket & egg biscuit as well as the sweet potato fries. Didn't finish the fries but they were decently good even a little soggy! They also were super generous with the number of ketchup packets - I got 3 but only used 1. My only comment is that the bathroom was not the best, but it's definitely miles ahead a porta potty! Also shocked at how small the bathroom was, given how large crowds can get on game days (of all sports).
