Do not buy your meat, and salsa from here! We spent $50 on tablitas, and salsa. The tablitas were so tough, and they gave us the sh***y ones to be exact. And the salsa went bad in less than 2 days. Don't spend your money here! They are BS their customers. read more

Though I wouldn't say this is the best in the area, this store does have a lot of things you can't just get anywhere else and you should definitely stop by and check out their selection. It's a solid 3 1/2 stars. The regular grocery store section is quite overpriced in my opinion, so I personally only go here for specific items. My husband likes their selection of Jarritos and snacks, but couldn't find tamarinds when he dropped in the other day. I think their produce section is extremely limited and uninteresting. They have a large bakery section, but most of it isn't labeled and what is, seems expensive. The meat section is pretty impressive and varied though, you will find unusual meats here. They have a taqueria on the right side, but I haven't tried it out yet. For all I know it's an extra star for them right there. When I enter I always feel like it's dirty and covered in grime, but there is a really good chance that it's just an older, run down building and it's all in my head. I'll tell you what though, I can't think of any other place that has an entire aisle committed to making your own tortillas and elote! You can buy a tortilla press here, how cool is that? You can buy a piñata here, hell you can buy 10 piñatas here! I am pretty sure this location has the biggest selection of Mexican candies and there were a lot of chips/snacks I had not seen before! Also, despite me finding their bakery to be overpriced, you can indeed get all your breads here for every occasion. I'm sure there is at least one thing here that you didn't know you needed. This is the place to go for some of the best fajita beef and chicken around. Just throw it on your grill and you will be in heaven. I believe they even sell the spice mixture they use. They have some really great produce including several varieties of chili peppers and all types of breads and pasteries. All sorts of dried spices and a little taco stand inside by the deli area. It's your typical grocery store with all the normal items as well. Some items are a little pricey but overall it is a great little store. read more

This is my go to place for fresh meat and especially fajita meat. I've been going here awhile, but was hesitant the first time, because i don't know how to speak spanish or read it. On the meat selection they have the words in english as well which was a great help to me. Everyone is friendly and very helpful. The store is clean and while there on memorial day i saw two people only cleaning in the meat department so i thought that was a great sign. The only real complaint i have is the wait in line. I got my ticket and had to wait 40mins to get the meat i wanted and when i got up there they had run out of chicken. For the longest time there was only one guy getting the meat. I just can't figure out why! A little tip for you, the coolers along the floor in front of the meat counter have fresh tortillas that are steaming warm!!! And one more little tip for you, because i'm feeling helpful today, Download the app "World Lens". It converts spanish to english right in front of your eyes. So if you dont' know what a sign says just put your phone over it and it changes the words to english and a flash(no button pushing or anything). read more

I don't speak Spanish so this was bound to be a mess. The business itself is nice. The people are friendly and this seems appropriately staffed, not waiting around for help. The parking lot was a bit crowed and small, but crowded is a good sign! I did get the wrong meat but since I didn't know the correct word for it in Spanish and I didn't really know what it looked like - how was I to know!? (I was after something pretty uncommon) This was kind of a blessing in disguise, Google tells me we had goat! It was pretty good. I have came here twice today and many times on other occasions, and the more I visit the more disappointed I am. The food is always great; however, the long wait is ridiculous. If it were from being busy I would understand, but it is because the meat counter caters to their regulars. I have stood here and watched, more than once, customers see a friend and order for them due to the wait. The meat counter does not check numbers, which makes me wonder why do they even have the system?! I would be willing to drive further to get my meat, as I already do to come here. The fajita meat is very tasty. Buttery tender after you grill it. Veggies at this super market aren't very fresh though.

Love going to the Mexican Carnicería and really haven't had any bad experiences with la Azteca in Denton however this last time I noticed the fajita meat had gone from 8 1/2 dollars to almost $12 per pound I was pretty astounded at the increase. Then seemingly to add insult to injury the meat was very poor quality and very tough whether you cooked it short or long on the grill. I will go back to la Azteca for other things but not for my fajita meats. read more

To order food you have to pay at the cash register first. I asked the lady in Spanish if they elote and they said no. i saw someone post a picture of them eating elote here but they said they've never served that here. instead i got the taco plate which comes with three tacos, rice and beans. the tacos are really good and they also have hot sauce and it's hot. read more

Yesterday I went to the Azteca meat market in Denton I35. I was at the meat section and I saw 2 employees not using masks and 2 using incorrectly the mask. One of the persons that was not using a mask was speaking with the phone and it seems was a manager. The person that took my order was using incorrectly the mask and I ask her to use the mask correctly. When I was paying, I ask the cashier if I can speak with the manager. He came to me with no mask and I told him that people at the meat section was not using the mask. He told me that I was a lair since all the people should use a mask and he ask another person if at the meat section the employees where without masks. The person that I saw speaking by phone earlier at the meat section was the one the manager asked, and he told me that I was a lair and that all the employees are using masks. Both told me that I was a liar. I contacted the headquarters via phone and messenger but they had not come back to me. This is not the way to treat a customer. I will not go again to your market and I will share this to the social networks. read more

I was charged 2.49 a pound for plain pinto beans. that's crazy compared to what I pay at Kroger. the cashier was not friendly at all and it seemed that a lot of the produce wasn't exactly fresh. the men at the meat department were helpful and nice. however I would just go to the other Hispanic store on university or kroger. either way this would be my very last option if I ever need to go to the store. read more

The pollo marinado was outstanding - I HAD NO ISSUES OR LANGUAGE BARRIERS - and I am a straight up gringo! The staff was super friendly - FYI to the earlier poster, if you don't speak Spanish, just turn to your left or right and ask for help from another shopper - most are bi-lingual and happy to help. The meat was of the best quality, price was excellent, and my kids were crazy about it!! Horrible service! I ordered a 3 leches cake for a church and the day of pick up it was not made. They were running around like a chicken with their heads cut off.
