We were walk ins and didn't have to wait long for our custom experience. While we waited, we started deciding what fragrances were most appealing. Almost every seat was filled when we arrived, but we only had to wait about 15 min for people to finish and make space for us. It's such a cute little shop! However, if you more than a couple people in your group, try to make a reservation in advance. The previous to make the fragrance was really cool. The associate who helped us listened and made helpful recommendations that resulted in us making the perfect fragrance. Is really cool too that every custom scent is saved in their database, so if you ever want to get more out make the scent into a soap, lotion, spray, etc, they can recreate it for you. 10/10 recommend!

I will say there are a lot of scents and mixes, so it was challenging trying to pick the perfect one for my customized cologne. Overall they had many fragrances, from sweet to spicy and everything in between. The fragrances smell natural and high quality, similar to the big brands out there. The cologne is also priced like a premium; around $130 I believe. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of for the price is that the customized title of the cologne is a basic sticker. I wish the sticker had some kind of logo or design.

Diptyque Georgetown was one of the most disappointing retail experiences I've had. I visited for…read morecandle refills and stood in the store for over 15 minutes without being acknowledged. One sales associate eventually helped me after finishing with another customer, which I appreciated. However, two other associates behind the counter did not acknowledge me at all. What made the situation particularly concerning was that when white customers entered the store, they were immediately greeted and assisted. As a Black customer, the difference in treatment felt noticeable and uncomfortable. At a brand like Diptyque--where customer experience is part of the product--this kind of disparity is unacceptable. I've visited Diptyque locations in multiple countries and have never experienced this level of disregard. This visit felt dismissive and unwelcoming, and it has significantly changed my perception of this location.

Maybe I'm not refined enough to understand the Diptyque hype. Out of dozens and dozens of scents I maybe found two that I could tolerate?Judging by the price point though, you'd think their candles would smell like heaven but most everything smelled like wet dog or old leaves to me. That said, the customer service was friendly and very attentive. The salesperson was not shy to give us recommendations, tell us about products, or help us out. I also noticed they provide gift wrapping in a variety of beautiful color combinations. Very classy. My boyfriend found what he was looking for and left a satisfied customer, but I left feeling like I had no idea why anyone would pay $70+ for an average sized candle that smelled like the back of a grandma's closet (and wondering if I'm just too primitive to "get" it).
