I'm just passing through, I stopped at the Tesla charging station and in the parking lot I see L.L.Bean. I have an L.L.Bean store very close to my home so I am familiar with the brand. I've also visited the flagship store in Maine, I love the quality and style of L.L.Bean. I left my car charging and walked over to L.L.Bean. Once inside, I entered a beautiful and well stocked store. The nice part about L.L.Bean is they have mannequins dressed in a full ensemble to give you ideas on how to pair their clothes. From the shoes/socks to the layers of shirts, L.L.Bean just owns this style. I found a green sweater (not too bulky) with a lighter green collared shirt for a nice layered look. With any L.L.Bean, going to the cash register is last attention grab. There are candies, soaps and L.L.Bean coffee mugs wanting to come home with you. I grabbed a bar of soap that smelled like pine trees. When I arrived at the register, I gave them my information and my profile populates the screen. I'm given a receipt and I'm on my way. The only other Bean location I've visited is the Flagship in Freeport, so this one is much smaller by comparison. Otherwise; Nice store. I tried this location after striking out in Cranston (they're the same distance from me). It was equally disappointing. I needed a nice pair of boots to hike/ dog park with my dog as the weather gets wetter/ colder and the ONLY person working in the shoe dept was not helpful AT ALL. I understand there was ONE other customer, but after getting them 6 pairs to try on you could've asked if I needed help, or something. Thankfully there were a few pairs left out so I was able to try on a few sizes and determine what I needed MYSELF. I ordered my size online. But in all honesty, the sizes run 1+ sizes over my usual, so they really should have people there to help you try them on.. I love LL Bean as a brand, but so far their retail establishments (and complaint dept) leave A LOT to be desired. read more

i absolutely love this location of LL Bean. i don't know if it actually has more square footage than some of the two story locations, but it sure does feel like it. products are nicely spaced, allowing for plenty of room between patrons (a real pet peeve of mine). staff are super friendly and available to assist. there are several mirrors out on the floor so you can easily try on certain items over your clothing, without needing a dressing room. per usual, LL Bean's return policy is great, and I've never had a single issue here. this is my go-to location; I'm just as close to Millbury, but I find the customer service and general shopping experience is better in Mansfield. read more

I've been to the Freeport flagship campus. You can't compare the two. Mansfield's strength is their ability give customized and personalized customer service as this location is a fraction size and inventory of the flagship. Every employee we worked with was helpful and pleasant even under extreme retail times such as pre Christmas and the day after. We bought my son's bicycle at their full service bicycle shop. We received better service for fittings, test rides and advice than at local bike shops. We got a high end kid's bike at a great deal. Employees went out of their way to hold the bicycle and suggest ways for extra savings such as opening a charge account. The store manager, Peggy, is doing a great job with her staff. Employees went above and beyond. They all seem to enjoy their jobs. Thank you! read more

The Mansfield store is well laid out and has helpful, knowledgeable staff. The bike store and service area is a nice plus. There is also ample parking and electric vehicle charging in the corner of the lot. The store also does monograms on certain items. The only negative is that I miss some of their searing and bench. Bought a jacket in Nov 2019 for my 11 year old daughter. The jacket ripped out of the blue. Went to the local outlet to return it and they tried to give me tape to put on it - $90- jacket less than three months old, and you want me to tape it? No thanks, I called the 1-800 #. On 02/02/20 they apologized and said they would send me a new jacket, and I would just have to return the old one - but they would send me a return shipping label. They confirmed this with an email. Yesterday, I was supposed to receive the jacket - never did. When I called to ask where it was they told me the replacement order was cancelled - no call, no email. When I asked why, they said that the customer service rep was new and told me incorrect info. I would not be receiving a replacement jacket. I referred them to their return policy that states 100% returns accepted if returned within a year with proof of payment. They did not care. Customer service was not equipped to handle my call with a dignity - rather they were rude and abrasive. The jacket is flimsy, their return policy went from the best ever to non existent and their customer service lacks a lot to be desired. read more

Just a light shadow of its former self. Many of their current items are Target level in terms of style and quality. Very few of their items are still made in Maine, with overall quality slipping dramatically in an effort to go mass market. Lifelong warranties are long gone. It's not the Freeport 24 / 7 Maine store but it's 2 1/2 hours closer. Initially I went there to get some hiking clothes for a trip to Scotland, ending up buying all kinds of clothes for the trip - all without gawdy designer tags & labels (I don't like wearing clothes overseas that scream "American" from a mile away). Then I bought a nice pair of snowshoes, boots, & poles with a gift card from the kids last Christmas - and have spent hours & hours out in the wild in complete comfort (OK once the boots were broken in) since. The staff is awesome - there and really there if you need them and not if you are just browsing. A bonus is it is located inside "Mansfield Crossing" which is fairly new and has quite a few of my other favorite shops like Borders, Kohls, Payless, Best Buy. PS - I spent a couple hundred $$ there for my trip which seemed expensive at first, but I'm being seriously here - it was cheaper to buy all the clothes that I did than to have them cleaned just one time in Scotland. The new L.L Bean store in Mansfield is AWESOME! They have a huge variety of camping, hiking and other outdoorsy gear. They have kayaks, canoes, and fishing stuff right there for you to try out. There is also a decent shoe section. They are pretty expensive, but the quality is really good. They do monogramming right there while you wait, which I thought was pretty cool. Both times I've gone, I've gotten a parking spot right in front. The whole plaza/mall is new, and there is a gigantic Borders right next door, as well as Ann Taylor Loft, Qdoba, Coldstone Creamery, Kohl's (brand new), and I think there was a Bed, Bath and Beyond opening soon. read more

This place screams yuppie wilderness hippy. A very odd combination but one I admit I like. The clothes are wilderness-trendy and comfortable but rather pricey. The only thing I've bought here so far were a comfy pair of brown winter boots on clearance for $24, down from $50. Woo! I love their clothes but quiet frankly I can't afford most of it. Oh well. That's life. In the middle of the store where most of their fishing and outdoor equipment is they have signs posted with upcoming classes and group trips in the area. I've been in this store several times, even opening weekend a few years ago and have always received excellent customer service. The store is easy to find, right off route 495 in Massachusetts, its in a shopping center with several other great stores so its definitely worth the trip. My most recent visit was last week, when I brought my mom there to get a pair of boots and I ended up leaving with a pair of shoes as well. Customer Service in their shoe department is excellent, I cant remember the name of the man who helped me, but he went above and beyond for me. I had extensive foot surgery in 2008 and finding shoes that I can get my foot into and actually walk in is a very difficult and stressful experience. He took the time to listen to what I needed in a shoe, and made a few recommendations of shoes that would work for me, I liked one of them and luckily they had my size in stock, I tried them on and they fit perfect and I stood up and walked in them, no pain at all.. I was beyond thrilled. I really wish I'd gotten his name so I could let corporate know how great of a salesperson they have. The store itself is smaller than the main store (obviously) but very well stocked, neat and clean and plenty of employees available if you need them. The bathroom was clean as well and the line to check out was busy, but all the cashiers were fast and efficient and if you spend over $50 you get a free $10 gift certificate. If I'd known that I would have asked her to ring up mine and my mom's shoes separately! This is well worth a stop if you don't feel like making the drive to the main store in Freeport! read more

Just came back from shopping there for the first time. I was impressed that the Christmas music was not the same tired old carols or the stupid gimmicky crap. Clerks were helpful. Store was neat and clean. Otherwise, the products seem to be the same items that they've always had (fine if you love it, but I was yawning). I was a bit perplexed why the ceilings were like 90 feet high (what a waste of heat!). The checkouts are hidden in a room at the front of the store. One stands in a line and the next available cashier has to shout out that they can take the next customer. Maybe this folksong is a big hit in the pines of Maine? I was also curious why some imbecile would design the exit from the store with a sudden, hidden, curb. Sure, they probably get a chuckle when they see people stumble and fall, but that ain't no way to treat a customer. read more

I guess I need to wait ten or twenty years before thinking any of the clothes here are fashionable. We came in armed with a big shopping list (and ready to SPEND): blankets, bathrobes, pajamas, slippers, coats and maybe some miscellaneous items. The honest truth is that the selection is either dismal, or LL Bean got lazy. We walked out with just two pairs of slippers (great because of the lifetime guarantee). The pajamas were all thin and flimsy and not very warm-looking. Coats all seemed to be made for people under 100lbs and four feet tall. Blankets were boring and the only one that stood out was a bit much for a "hey lets get a blanket" purchase at $300. Overall, we really just didn't like anything we saw. In Maine I can find all kinds of things I want to buy but the selection here was just blah and not with buying just for the sake of buying. read more

We went to return my husbands storm chaser boots and asked the woman working in the shoe department "do you still honor the return policy for boots ? " she said "yes we do " we picked a new pair of storm chasers and when we got to the register the cashier refused to let us to return them because they were "worn" (obviously they were used after our purchase a year ago ) and we had returned them previously. I visited L.L. Bean in Mansfield MA yesterday, on the Fourth of July weekend when I didn't really want to because of the traffic on and off Cape Cod... The reason I went is because I was told that the "master" kayak guy, Scott, was working!! Suffice it to say, Scott was fabulous!! I went in to potentially purchase a kayak as well as a kayak rack for the car and he spent all of the time that I needed to be comfortable with my purchase and to teach me how to load the kayak on and off the car rack which he installed for me... I can't say enough fabulous things about him! (Did I mention that he's super cute, too?!?) Please do not hesitate! Go see Scott at L.L. I had one of the most wonderful retail experiences I have ever had at LL Bean in Mansfield. LL Bean has a lifetime guarantee on all of its products but I have never need to use it before now. I had a pair of boots that had a small crack in them so I brought them to the store to see what they could do for me. I expected to get a bit of a hassle because the boots were a few years old and I didn't have a receipt. Instead the store manager asked me a couple of quick questions about approx. when and where they were purchased. Next thing I know I have a gift card towards the purchase of whatever LL Bean gear I wanted. I will say I am not much of a fan of most of their clothes but for weatherproof shoes or boots and jackets their stuff really holds up and cost half of what North Face does. Plus since you know that they really stand behind their products it makes the prices that much more reasonable. They definitely have a customer for life. read more

I have never enjoy the experience of shopping much. Usually I cannot get very good assistance and often feel rushed. Do not feel that way at this LLBean store. My wife and I purchased 2 kayak packages one day then 2 PFD's the following day. Wanted to research PFD's before purchasing so we waited a day. Each day we interfaced with different individuals and my wife and I were very happy leaving the store both days. We have so much ll bean stuff, it's not even funny. It's all top quality, and when something isn't right, they make it right. Called to see if they had the slippers i wanted today and they said they had just gotten them in. Drove all the way up there to find out they actually didn't have them. They made a mistake and couldn't call me back as they didn't know who I was. They gave me a small gift card for my troubles and are having the slippers shipped to me in two business days. The service is top notch. The quality is second to none. And this particular store is as good as it gets. read more

Not a very happy customer. On October 27, 2015 I went to this location to exchange a winter coat that was received as a Christmas gift last year and a pair of wicked good moccasin slippers which i purchased approximately 3 months ago. The coat had a small tear and a couple small stains that couldn't be removed. The slippers tore when I tightened the ties (which btw always come untied) Before heading to the cashier, I looked for my items in the store. The coat, they did not have my size/color in stock. So I grabbed a different coat that was less expensive than the original one being replaced. The slippers, they didn't have the color, so I went with a color that I could live with. I also grabbed a Henley shirt, figuring I got the cheaper coat. When I got up to the register I was asked if I had my receipt, I informed him that I received it as a Christmas gift from my parents and the slippers were purchased 3 months ago and are under my name. He immediately called the manager to the register. They were both looking up the items, not saying a word and after a few minutes i still was not sure what the problem was. I asked the manager what the problem was and he answered, we are not sure where you are purchasing these items. I was a bit confused and started feeling embarrassed. Then he only wanted to give me a percentage back on the coat I returned and then charge me full price for the less expensive coat. So I would end up owing him $79.99. I'm still confused. I then asked him to void the transaction and order me the more expensive coat instead of the cheaper one. I ended up owing $16.00. After not receiving my coat, I called customer service and they informed me that there was something wrong with the debt card I used. Not sure why they didn't inform me that at the store. I finally got the coat shipped to me. Then to my surprise I received a letter from LL Bean, that whenever I ever want to return anything, I need to have a sales receipt or proof of purchase.
