Best bistro French food in Amsterdam.
Laid back but professional atmosphere, perfect menu, neither too ambitious nor too quotidian. I had the 3 course prix fixe with crevettes, then escargots (off menu), then magret de canard, and creme brulee with a glass of calvados for dessert. Vin de pays both red and white for the courses. Truly wonderful, no off notes, just super high quality food done without Parisian pretension, as is the style in honest Netherlands restaurants.
Wine list is not extraordinary. But this is a bistro, not Lutece, right? The price beats anything inside the Peripherique, too.
I wish Amsterdam had more of this kind of bistro, it's good for the soul if you are tired of mayonnaise on every possible kind of fried potato. read more
