We come here often. Nice lunches, nice for no nonsense good diner too. Great no thrills but still nice food. Really cool venue! Nice staff. Fantastic terrace. And they have a fireplace! One of our favorites.

We had a private party upstairs. Highly recommended. And that's all I have to say about it.

They do make up for it with their personalities. The restaurant itself is small and typically can hold groups of 2 to 5. The menu is small, but all the dishes are high quality. 1. Amuse bouche goat cheese - had a nice smoky flavor and fresh 2. Scallops - small but packed with flavor. There is a white sauce that complimented the scallops and the bread pastry with onions 3. Goat cheese terrine - very nice soft goat cheese mixed with onions as well as berry and veggies. Only wish there was more bread. 4. Sea bream - very nicely done with a fresh taste of the meat and a crispy skin. Pairs well with its sauce and tomatoes. 5. Ravioli - nicely done al dente with a herby sauce and packed ravioli 6. Bread pudding - one of the best I've had and came out fresh and hot. Comes with a white sauce as well as boozy caramel sauce. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant which has received very nice reviews for over 10 years. I'm glad we chose this restaurant during my stay here.

We were able to get seated right on the window area. We chose menu 5, which was just enough for two people. Everything was delicious! Their pea soup is out of this world. Don't know why as it is a simple dish but wow! I also love their herring. It was so delicious that I wanted seconds. It paired so well with their onions and mustard. And their bitterballen was just enough bite. Creamy and crispy! We also got a combination of the hutspot. They were all delicious! Although for me the meatball was just a tad bit salty but it is probably just me! Everything else was spot on. I love their dessert at the end. It was a great way to end the night. Our server and their staff were all amazing! Very friendly and welcoming. Yes it is a tourist spot but totally worth it.

We did not have one but they were happy to seat the 2 of us and invited us to switch tables once another couple left (they were checking out). Small space, can accommodate groups of 2-4, cozy atmosphere, lots of the traditional blue and white ceramics on the wall (dishes and tiles). Traditional Dutch cuisine: we ordered the Boerenkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and Zuurkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and a slice of apple pie to share for dessert. The food arrived piping hot in about 20 minutes. It was sooo delicious--the tasty juicy sausage pairs perfectly the mashed potatoes with either sauerkraut or kale. The apple pie was also tasty--larger chunks of apple and more spices less sugar than American apple pie from what I can tell. Perfect with whipped cream. A must visit if you're in Amsterdam and want to try traditional fare. Highly recommended!

We were…read morevisiting from the States and were looking for a local representation of traditional regional cuisine and that's what we got--an elegant, modern Dutch-French meal with knowledgeable and friendly service. The space is cozy with vintage charm and the kitchen is wide open, which I always love. We had a party of 7, got 3 bottles of wine and about half of us did the 3 course meal option and the total came out to about €80/person, which is an exceptional deal for this level of cooking and service. They were also highly attentive to the dietary restriction we had in the party, providing an alternative amuse bouche and asking clarifying questions to make sure they got it right. We found it on the Michelin Guide as a Bib Gourmand restaurant and I whole-heartedly agree that it's worth the trip if you're in the area! It's very unassuming from the outside and we weren't sure we had the right door as you walk through a curtain right inside the door and enter right into the dining room, without any type of host stand to greet at the entry. Highlights of the meal included a divine duck leg/breast special, my veal chop with morel sauce was fantastic, and the cafe gourmand dessert course was a perfect nightcap with choice of espresso/coffee/tea and a handful of chef's choice sweet bites.

Located at Marcusstraat 52, windows open for Summer when guests pour in beginning at 18h00, Rijsel approaches French Food with a Flemish accent while servers push Wine hard throughout a service clearly focused on turning tables. A sort of Canteen in front of an open kitchen, complimentary Gazpacho hitting the table with Sausage and Bread before orders are taken, Rijsel's menu sees specials added depending on the Chef's whim, on this day a classic Terrine that outpaced Octopus that was less tender than "chewy." Opting for two Prix-Fixe plus Ribeye served rare, each Entree proving quite sizable, Spring Chicken comes whole on the bone with a simple Bean preparation while Black Leg Chicken arrives sliced with thin Morel Sauce at an upcharge. Pre-paying a deposit, all of which was spent but only a portion credited due to one ill guest who stayed in, Dessert featured Clafoutis with whole Cherries and Ice Cream alongside a dome of Chocolate surrounding Mousse plus Berries.
