I used to go here back in my tanning days when I was around 18-20 years old. I haven't been back in a few years and needless to say, the place has gone a little more down hill. Back when I went, there was always a problem with knowing what sales were going on (I'd get a text that they're doing a 20% off spray tan sale for example, then I'd go in and the employee would have no idea what I'm talking about and wouldn't honor the sale. I'd come back the next day to a different employee and she'd know what I'm talking about). This happened more than once. This time, I got a text they're having $20 spray tans so I called to make sure and it was a go. I come by on a Sunday at 10:10am (they open at 10) and the doors are locked and lights are off. I was so confused! A lady drove by and saw and told me this happens sometimes where the employees are late so they don't open at their open time. That's so wild to me! I get if it happens once, but this regular said it happens here and there which is crazy. She was annoyed and left. Just as I was about to leave to their Schaumburg location, their employee walks up and starts unlocking the door. I walk up to her from my car and ask her if they're open today; she doesn't even look at me and says "yeah". She's on FaceTime with someone while she's unlocking the door and I'm just awkwardly standing there. I offer to go wait in my car but she says "no it's okay" without looking up at me at all. She was still on FaceTime and fidgeting with the keys so I told her I'll wait in my car. If you know me, you know I'm a super nice and positive person, so I was very understanding, but she was really unfriendly despite the situation. I waited in my car to give her some time to do whatever she had to do while 2 other customers came in. Once I actually got in, she acted like the place wasn't 30 minutes late to opening. I told her it's been a few years for me so I'm kind of outdated with how the spray tan works (moisturizing, pre tan stuff, which level I should get, etc). She didn't explain a thing and sent me off my merry way. I definitely won't be back. I would have a different outlook if she at least acknowledged the situation and said sorry, but none of that happened. If they're having another sale I'm interested in for spray tans I'll try another location. read more

They really need to hire reliable staff. Closed again on a Sunday when their hours are to be open at 10 am. If the employee doesn't show up then the owner should step up! Called and get an odd message. Really is frustrating when you take the time to go there to see it's not open. read more

Twice within a couple months I went there when they were supposed to be open according to the hours posted on their door and website and they weren't. It happened again today, 11/19/23. It's frustrating to pay almost 90 dollars a month to tan and to waste my time going because you are unreliable. read more

Tyler is one of the nicest people working at any LA Tan!! Always lets me know of newer bulbs, lotion and eye wear. I try to know when he's working because I'll know the beds are super clean (not that I've ever had a dirty one at LA Tan). I just trust him 110%. Several months ago I'd asked why it's such a hassle to check in? Name? spell it? Street? C'mon man!! Crazy. Now it seems like they got the clue. Tyler knows me by face/mask. Ember AMAZING!!! I have been coming to LA tan since 2007 for years but got a membership in 2018. I want to say that I have not met an associate more knowledgeable and helpful then Ember. She told me about the red light beds, explained to me the differences in the products all while helping other customers and training a new employee. It's worth the drive go to RM LA tan. Her customer service was great and she sold me on two new products. And thank you Ember for informing me of the point system and the discounts. I have been spray tanning for years---and I've never had an experience this bad or this disgusting. The girl working there took me to the back room and goes through the procedure--she SPECIFICALLY SAID: "Oh with this machine you don't need to use barrier cream on knees, elbows, feet---just your hands, this machine is high tech enough you don't need to worry about getting an uneven tan." That maybe true about the machine...too bad NO ONE HAD CLEANED IT in forever and I ended up with THE SOLES OF MY FEET practically BLACK from all the solution that had been left on the floor. HELLO---YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO CLEAN THE BOOTHS AFTER EACH USE. THIS PLACE IS FILTHY---AND YOU MAY GET STUCK WITH BLACK SOLES IF YOU USE THE SPRAY TAN. I DON'T EVEN WANT TO THINK ABOUT HOW DISGUSTING THE LAY-DOWN UV BEDS MUST BE. YUCK. Oh and when I brought it up to management the only thing the dingbat b*tch had to say was "well when I spray tan, I know to put barrier cream on my hands AND feet" YEAH--NOT THE SOLES OF YOUR FEET. LEARN TO CLEAN YOUR MACHINES. NEVER USING THIS COMPANY AGAIN. Not the usual location I go to, but I was in a rush one day and just needed a little extra color for an outing. Tiny building, but the rooms were decently sized AND it was super cute in there. Also, my room had extra headphones in case you forgot yours! Each room has a little bulb on the outside and I assume it turns a color once you start tanning. Girl at the front desk was super laid back, did try selling me extra tanning dollars since I am almost out (they were also having a sale) but she was never extra pushy or anything. read more

Not worth the hassle. When I first started going to LA Tan I enjoyed my tanning experience. The beds are really nice and the employees are nice. I put my account on hold around thanksgiving as I was getting lasik so I wouldn't be able to tan. Filled out the paperwork and went on my way. In mid-December I noticed I was charged full price both months so I contacted the location to set things straight and get a refund. Christmas was around the corner and every bit of money matters in a year like 2020. Well, only managers can issue refunds and after WEEKS of calling, being told my issue would be passed along, contacting corporate and the manager personally, I still have not been able to speak with a manager nor have I received a refund. I've worked at salons before and I have never experienced this poor of customer service. Though I commend the workers and corporate for doing everything they can given their positions I have to give a one star because I'm not sure a manager at this location even exists at this point. read more

I just called in with about 100 questions regarding cocktail tans (bed and spray). I often get very nervous before for trying new things and I haven't done a cocktail tan before. The girl at the desk (forgot to ask name) was so sweet and very professional. Helped me with everything I needed and seemed to stay honest with the questions that were asked! I am not sure why some people did have a bad experience at this location. It's my absolutely favorite. Girls at the desk are always friendly and when it's busy they try to get to the business as fast as they can. As the spray tan goes I've never had any problems with my color it's always perfect specially when I do a cocktail tan. I once had an issue where my cc was charged twice, but that was resolved within couple of days. I went to some other locations in the area this one is the only one I will go. For the chicks who tan like myself, this location is very small, but soooooo much better than the rest! I like this one mainly 'cause the staff here are so laid back. I'm a regular customer and the girls here don't pressure you to buy lotion, buy more min., blah blah..the girls at the other locations are plain stuck-up and rude!! I normally go to the LA tan in Wheaton but I work near this one so I decided to give it a try since I had no other choice.I got a spray tan like I normally do at my place and walking into the room was disgusting! The machine wasn't clean the floor was dirty and most importantly my spray tan left me splotchy all over my back...it looked like i had a skin disease..and this was not my first spray tan.. The machine didn't have enough dry cycles and they gave you a tiny little hair dryer to dry yourself it was a joke. read more

I love this place. I have been in schaumburg, the fancy one. I went in there, I got very upset with the staff, left and went straight back to my main location in rolling meadows. I actually really like this LA Tan location. As far as ambiance goes, it's the best I've been to (out of all the LA Tans in the area). It's small but decorated nicely. I've only met a few of the girls but for the most part they're nice. The beds are older but they actually seem to be better than some of the newer ones at other locations. I get better color when I tan at this location. It could be the beds, it could be that they change the bulbs more often, I don't know,but I definitely get better color going here. I rarely burn and I actually got red a couple times after tanning here. They don't have wipes or mirrors in the room here which makes it kind of hard to apply lotion (especially on your face) and clean up afterward, but I get good color and good service here so I'll look past that. I have been to a few tanning salons in the area, and this is one of my faves due to the nice staff and no pushy sales. The beds are clean, and the versa spa is a better quality spray tan than some others in the area. They have a sheet in the spray tan room that tells you how to do it, and how to upkeep your tan, which is helpful. If you are trying to decide where to spray tan, I would go with L.A. First time VersaSpa user - I definitely was scared that I would not know what to do, but Alyssa helped me through the process. I bought a prep lotion...and my spray has lasted 5 days. They we nice and not pushy. I have read about feet problems - I used the advice to place a towel down. Make sure you grab it after your session! The machine self cleans! I have used this place 4 times before for spray tans and I totally loved it ... UNTIL tonight! I went in for a level 2 spray tan that I needed for tomorrow's dance showcase ... I got the supposedly level 2 tan (just like before) and drove home ...as soon as I got home and looked in the mirror I expected to see the dark color on my skin like the 4 other times before (the solution, not the final tan). Against my expectations, my face was pale just like before, my arms and body was pale as well ... so I drove back to the salon and asked the girl at front desk if she set up my tan for level 2 ... she said she did, I then asked if there was any solution in the versa spa, she checked and she said there was. Then I showed her my PALE body with no spray solution on it and she said she can't do anything about it until Tuesday when the manager goes to work and I can talk to her. I told her my situation and that I HAD to have the tan by tomorrow and I kindly asked her if she can call the manager, which she did. The manager said there is nothing she can do about it, maybe is the moisturizer I used after I showered (I DID NOT USE any lotion/moisturizer after my shower), maybe I did NOT exfoliate (I DID EXFOLIATE right before I left my houses to go to this place), but what really got me frustrated was the fact that she insulted my intelligence by asking me if I went home after the spray tan (40 minutes before) and showered .. really?! what idiot pays for a spray tan and then goes home and takes a shower to wash it right off, especially that this was NOT my first time getting a spray tan! That was just rude! They asked me come back tomorrow and if I have no color they would consider giving me a spray tan ... guess what, tomorrow is too late, I need the tan by tomorrow not the day after! To make a long story short, please consider the customer support this place provides, or better yet, the lack of! I am totally disappointed right now! I usually love going to La Tan, i went yesterday and the women that was working was not very friendly and seemed to have an attitude towards me. I am also not happy with the spray tan that i got. some spots are lighter than the other and I called to ask why and the person on the phone was being rude. every heard of costumer service. So I went in there Last Saturday and asked if they had a special going on. The girl told me about the New Customer special 4 tans for $4. and sold me the goggles. She said you have to do all the tans in a week. Ok, So the first day was Saturday then I went back Thursday because the machine gave me a little burn Saturday so I waited a couple days to go back. Then I knew my last tan would be Saturday and I would miss out on one but that was ok.. Saturday I went in and she told me my last day was Friday and the New Customer special is now expired. I told her I was told it was good for a week. She said counted on her fingers 7 days. And told me I could pay for today if I want. Was a burn! What a Lie! Never again.
