His goal is false advertising, the prices are ridiculous. Not everyone wants to buy a package and/or be a member. Some just want an occasional tan. I did purchase a membership, when time came for renewal, my credit card didn't process. No one called to inform me of this. When I inquired and offered to give another card - they said I had to start from the beginning and again pay the 90 initiation price. Are you kidding me?! Come here every couple of months. Today not such a great experience. Did a level 6 bed. Two of the high pressure bulbs were out on the left side. Told the girl after at the front desk. Nothing was offered in the form of my tan credited back. When paying for a tan I hope that the equipment is maintained to being fully functioning. It's too bad. Looks like I'lll have one tan leg for my event this weekend and one white leg. Very disappointed. Usually I've had no issues. But today was a disappointment. read more

I never had a problem up with tropical tan up until recently when I had gone in for a spray tan on a THURSDAY. There was one young girl working at the front she was not very knowledgeable about spray tans. I let her know it was my second time ever going a spray tan and it was my first time doing a versa-spa spray tan. I went in and listened to the directions of the machine, but when I came out I was very disappointed with the way it turned out. The back of my body never got any color!! and the front was completely dotted. My body took about 8-10 min to dry off and I came out with dots looking like freckles all over my entire body. This is not what happened in my first spray tan experience. The girl was very nice and quickly told me she will contact her manager and she took my number down and said she would give me a call later that day. Knowingly I had work the next 3 days FRIDAY-SUNDAY , I had to show up to work with only half a spray tan...... no call after 3 DAYS!!! I reach out to them a second time on Monday!!! Then......I get a reply on Facebook! "We are checking with the staff now. Typically we would correct it or allow you to spray again within a 24 period if something happened" No call or reply again! I send them pictures of my spray tan and they reply.... " We appreciate the pictures but would have liked to see the spray tan the next day. We will follow up with you shortly" Again No follow up.. Long story short, very unprofessional especially for a loyal customer that have been coming for years since the first opening. read more

Let me first start off saying that the girls who work there, are GREAT! I liked coming in just because of them, an them only. There's a saying " you get what you paid for" in the case of Tropical Tan in Palatine, that is completely false! The owner Josie does not care about that tanning salon particularly, nor the girls and especially the customers. All the complaints, requests, warnings of customers going to cancel their memberships there go in one ear an out the other with the owner. He doesn't respond, interact, or care at all about customers, it's all about $$$$ to him. He shouldn't be a owner, he doesn't know how to run a business. i've had a membership there since July 2022, not once has ANY bulbs to ANY beds or stand ups been changed, updated/replaced. Your not getting what you pay for at this location. And now everyone is canceling their memberships, an he doesn't even care! It's like he is trying to run that location into the ground. He does NOTHING to that location but try to push the girls to sell, when nothing works!! I'd like the fire marshal to show up an see his expired fire extinguishers. Have a inspection done to see all the beds but 2 maybe, have burnt out bulbs. it's not jus 1 bulb in a tanning bed, it's MULTIPLE! Even the light in the bathroom hasn't been working for months! He took off all the negative posts and complaints on FB, an blocked it so nobody can anymore. Even Yelp has been trying to contact him an he doesn't respond. He should be fired for being a business owner! His beds suck cause he neglects everything there! Maybe the Chamber of Commerce needs to get involved, an the village inspectors. I had a terrible taste in my mouth from being a member at LA TAN ( across the street ) and was very worried I was going to run into the same BS I did over there here, but to my surprise the place was clean and the girl who helped me was friendly and knowledgeable. I told her I had never been there before and she walked me through the whole process, helped me pick out a lotion and explained how to use the bed. The place was clean and well decorated. Horrible customer service by a girl named Samantha. She turned the open signs on 15 minutes early, told me they weren't open yet, but a cute guy in a porsche drives up and she lets him in right away. She said technically she should not have let him in but she did anyway because she was done with her stuff. I told her that was not cool or fair and I asked for her manager's name. She said my manager is Vanessa and she will tell you the same thing I told you and she will agree with me. I cancelled my membership right there, called her a bad name and stormed out. Train your people better. Working on a Sunday at 8am sucks, but we all have to make a living, and this place was such a nice escape for me. I looked forward to it every week. I am sure you won't care about me since I just drive a jeep, maybe I should go get a porsche and I'll get better customer service. read more

I gave them another chance as I have been going here since they opened. I went back because i love the beds but def regret it. I bought a month tanning deal which comes with 2 FREE spray tans and 30 days of tanning. if you end it early you cant tan anymore and you lose the spray tans... so say I put in a cancellation at 15 days that would be the last day i can tan and i lose the 2 sprays even tho i paid for the FULL month...doesnt make sense. I loved tropical tan, I really did. But the last time I went and got a spray tan, one of the nozzles wasn't spraying correctly. I told the girl at the front desk right after. She said she has to talk to the owner and call me. Next day I called and told the next person my situation. That I had a very uneven tan. She said ok, I'll talk to the owner and call you back. However it is kind of pricey since I can't use all of the beds they have. Other than that, the place is super clean, smells amazing and the staff is always super friendly. Last night was my first time here and certainly won't be my last! I needed a spray tan before vacation but LA Tan was closed Sunday evening so I happened to find this place online. It was my first time getting a spray tan so I was super nervous but the attendant was great with explaining how it works and giving me some tips. I used the Versa spray tan booth and I LOVE THE RESULTS! Not orange at all and have already gotten multiple compliments on how natural it looks. Also, this salon is clean and big. Some of the staff here is not accommodating and they are not welcoming when you come in. There are 1-2 girls that work here that are very friendly and care about what they do but the rest of the staff is rude. I was a client of there's for 3 years and than they said that I cancelled my credit card for automatic payments - why would I have done that after 3 years?! They don't care about there customers. I even called a couple days prior before the monthly payment would have been due and she told me that it will be taken out on this day and that my account is current. Than I go in and they say my account has termed and therefore I need to pay $10 for it to be active again.... I don't think so! Taking my business elsewhere!! read more

I love this place for spray tans!! It's so hard to find a good spray tan I'm very pale and I get the mystic spray tan and it always goes on very evenly. It looks so natural and healthy and it fades very evenly and never look blotchy which I think is key to a good spray tan. You can't beat their prices either!!!! read more

First off, I only made this account because I want the manager of this location to know what is going on at their salon when they are not there. Every Time I come to this salon the girls are not pleasant or pretty rude. They always have their friends there and have them sitting behind the counter which makes it extremely awkward and seems very unprofessional. When I do the beds, the walls are very dirty at times and I think they should be deep cleaning or working instead of socializing all time with their guests... I feel weird every time I come in and have never had an experience like this at any other salon. Best place to get a bronzed glow! All the staff is super friendly and knowledge and welcoming. I haven't had any bad experiences here since I've started coming about a year ago. The salon/beds are always clean and the equipment seems newer & up to date compared to other tanning salons. They also have the best prices/deals that you really won't find any better any place else! They charged me for the entire month, however, because I cancelled on the day my monthly EFT membership was to be charged they still took $82.50 and still wouldn't let me tan after that day! They took my money for the entire month of June and would not let me tan! They are thieves and the manager Ali is rude and ignorant! If they cancelled my membership the day it rolled over then they should have given my money back or honored services rendered and paid for, but refused! Signed up for the high pressure membership with Gabby (she's supper nice). Gabby explained everything in detail about membership perks etc. OMG the beds are by far the best!! Supper clean mints baby wipes lotion etc in every room bathroom . The Versa machine was cleaner then any salon I've seen in the past 10 years! You really get your bang for your buck compared to other salons. You can feel the high pressure beds bulbs are fresh plus the size of the rooms are huge so used to small tight spaces rooms !
