I was an customer of la tan for years and was happy with their products and professionalism until I went to la tan in PALATINE. this place is absolutely filthy to start, I decided to continue to go here because it was convenient and I would wash whatever bed 2x before I got in. Now that being said I called to cancel my membership in early March of 2020. I was recovering from surgery and I was feeling really sick ( had a cough and felt warm ) I told this to the girl on the phone. She insisted I come in to cancel. I told her I was Ill and I didn't think it was a good idea ( this was maybe a week before covid shut downs) I do not know if I had covid but I was in the hospital 2 weeks prior recovering from neck surgery and could very well have been exposed ( who knows?) but what I do know is that I was sick and they wouldn't allow me to cancel digitally. And she said if I don't come in that day I would be charged a whole more month. I went in said I was ill and that she should wash her hands after I touched a pen she touched. She told me that I was being ridiculous and I was floored. I asked for a copy of the paperwork that I signed to cancel the membership she said no and I said what? She said her printer wasn't working. I just saw her print the form with my name on it. I said go ahead and email me the copy I will wait here till I get it. She called the police because I said I'd wait there till I got it. They came and I told them what happened they told me to call l tan Corprate ( what I did, haven't had any resolve yet ) they also informed me that that location has had trouble with them before and to call my bank and let them know to stop all charges. ( I did ) my bank declared that the last mnth charge was not authorized and refunded me my money. This girl who I have shown in the pic was absolutely and completely rude and out of line. So if you go to LA TAN I. Palatine beware of her. It's quite obvious she is not kind and not truth worthy ( ask my bank) Please try to find another tanning place if at all possible. I will forever be anti la tan palatine and discourage anyone I run across not to use this facility. The only way I would reconsider my opinion of this particular store is if I actually received an apology from them for involving a prominent member of the community with a police visit. Decent location to go for a spray when in the area. The front desk lady was very friendly and instructed me a bit when I told her it was my first time at this location. Their VersaSpa was broken but the old spray tan machine was working so I went with that. Quick in and out experience and it got the job done. This place is a complete ripoff. Maybe they're good for tanning in a bed but they are horrible for a spray tan, which is what I always get. I've been a customer at various LA Tans, all of which have been great experiences aside from this one. I went in for a Level II spray tan today and got the VersaSpa, which I'm no stranger to. However, I only got sprayed twice (once in the front, once in the back) with no bronzer whatsoever. When you get a spray tan, you can usually smell the solution on you and see a little specks of brown on you straight away. This one sprayed absolutely nothing; I was as pale going in as I was going out. I didn't notice any bronzer on my face or anywhere on my body. Usually, if you lick your lips, you can even taste a bit of it, but again, nothing. I went back to the front desk on my way out and the woman working there called the manager to ask about how the VersaSpa process works, since I was thrown off by it only asking me to face front and then face back. All of the VersaSpas I've been in have done the 4 positions (front, right side, left side, back) and then the dry passes. After chatting with her manager, she told me that the machine worked properly as long as it asked for the 4 positions. Uhhh, again I told her that it only asked for two positions (front, back). I'm not entirely convinced that she or her manager know how in the world the VersaSpa worked. She called the manager yet again, chatted for a bit, went to look at the machine, and came back out again saying that everything looks like it worked. Again, I'm standing there, still super pale and disappointed because I really wanted to get a nice spray tan. The woman working the desk started to say that their solution is special and doesn't appear right away, especially since I went with a lighter tan. However, I didn't go with a light tan--I went with the same medium tan I've been going with for the past three years and know it very well. I know for a fact that I didn't get what I paid for and now I'm out $15 for no reason. The situation ended with yet another phone call to the manager and then the woman working the desk saying she didn't know what to do. They don't issue refunds. I've never had such a lousy experience with LA Tan before. Please don't waste your time and money with this location because they will blatantly take your money for no reason and are not interested in the service they provide or whether or not their customers are satisfied. I tried to get some sort of return for the money I paid, but was instead treated to watching the employing dawdle over the phone with Stacy the manager who kept coming up with excuses. I know for a fact that I was ripped off and am still not any tanner. Please go to the Glenview, Northbrook, or Arlington Heights locations instead. They will go out of their way to make sure that you are happy and will also give you a quick spray touch-up if they think you missed a spot. This location will just take your cash and send you on your way. Never coming back here again. read more

I did accidentally fall for the purchase of a pretty expensive lotion but that's probably my fault, I should have googled prices before going in to buy. I must say this place is great! They have all kinds of beds from all levels, staff is super friendly. Place is clean. They offer extra towels if you need it, restrooms, and once you are a regular they know you and already know what you want and know you by name is kinda nice because it makes you feel welcome. They have lots of different lotions for sale. Eye ware and temporary eye ware if you forget yours. On Tuesday is $4.00 any level bed. If you refer someone you receive 10.00 tanning bucks and also for purchasing their lotions as well which is pretty cool. No complaints about this place. They have enough beds so I never wait for what I want to do when I go in. I recommend this location. Prices are also affordable for what you get. read more

I used to come Here on a regural basis a while back and never had any complaints, went in last time to get a little base color before i go on vacation(so I don't burn to a crisp) and oh boy SO DIRTY!! The Tanning bed seemed to have things growing inside where the lamps are (posted a picture) I get that it's no easy task to clean in all the little places but this was beyond discounting. Wonder if they even clean the bed after every person?! Also the Ceiling lamps had so many dead bugs in there that it will probobly fall down sooner or later. no idea what happened in those few years but it's a completely different tanning salon. It is the closest place to my house but I will not go in ever again I'm so grossed out with the appearance and cleanliness of this place. read more

What to say about LA TAN- hmm I must say there are two girls that work there that are so amazing. One is a really pretty brunette girl- she always remembers my name always greets me with a smile. Then I experienced a blonde girl on sunday- she was amazing she looked like a disney channel actress really pretty. She was soooo energized and friendly even with the crappy weather we got. I started coming here early this year. There were high pressure sales for plans and lotions but that's typical for all tanning salons. They're crowded on their (AMAZING) special days but on off days and hours they're deserted. The beds are clean and the bulbs are fresh. They have a great selection of both lay down and stand up beds. read more

My first review on yelp! I had to sign up when I received this great service from the young girl I believe her name is Michelle. Whenever I walk in she is typically working at the front desk but never fails to give me knowledge on all the deals and different lotions I would like to use even though she sees me multiple times a week. I don't feel like just another customer, she always asks me what my plans are for the weekend or how my kids are doing. Great great great! I will be back because of her!!! read more

I tan here when I am visiting home and the boy that works there is the sweetest. I tried to tip him because he's so kind and has such good customer service but he wouldn't accept it he said "as long as your happy and smiling that's what makes me happy" what a sweetheart!!! Don't waste your money! Not only is this place dirty, but their equipment is terrible, and their customer service is the WORST. My daughter and I both got airbrushed and the results were awful. We were dripping wet with tanning solution, (which resulted in dark brown drips and streaks in the final tans) and they don't even provide fans to dry you in the tanning rooms. (The old manager was even the one applying airbrush tans!!) When I asked about a fan to dry off with, I was told that they no longer have fans but that she could use the hand held air brush gun to dry me. When she attempted to do so, she yelled, "oh fuck we are out of air!" So unprofessional. And I left soaking wet. Both of our tans ended up cracking within two days and we looked like we had some sort of skin disease for a good two weeks. It has taken over three months of me calling at least twice weekly to try to get my $ back. And still nothing. They have changed management and won't stand behind their work. Samko won't return phone calls and neither will the new owner. Apparently their business and how they are viewed in the community doesn't matter to them. This place ripped off my 16 year old daughter and the manager will not call me back to make it right. My daughter went in for the 15 dollar Monday tan. The girl (Marisa) charged her 45 dollars and did not give her a receipt. I took my daughter back to the Palatine location and asked the girl behind the counter what she charged my daughter for. She admitted to making a mistake and forgot that it should have only been 15 dollars. I said Ok, then you need to reimburse her money to her. She paid cash. The girl stated that it does not work like that. You have to go through corporate for your money back. I then asked for a manager. She stated that is not possible because her manager does not return phone calls and he never answers her when she calls him. She kept making excuses for why I can not speak to a manager. I explained that I need a call back ASAP from the manager. After leaving extremely upset the girl call me back and stated that we could come pick up my daughters money. As we returned to the store for the reimbursement, the girl only would reimburse 25 dollars. She stated my daughter had got an upgraded tan, but never said that to me when she admitted to overcharging my daughter. She got very rude and stated that there was nothing she could do. I told her that I still would like to speak to the manager. She then wanted to argue with me as to why there was no reason for me to speak to a manager. She felt that there was nothing wrong with how she was treating us. She stated that she treats all her customers the same. Later that evening I called the store again to inquire as to why I have not received a call from the manager. The girl (Marisa) started yelling at me and stated that her manager is not going to call me back. I explained that this is not proper customer service. She then stated that my daughter better not ever come back into this store again or else. I will never come back again or recommend LA Tan. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. I was a longtime customer at this location. I did spray tan packages. I bought another package with the understanding that I had one year to use the three spray tans. I went in and did my normal level in my normal machine. The next time I went in asking for the exact same thing, they told me my account was all messed up, blamed it on the girl that sold the package to me, said she did not know what she was doing and told me I had to pay more money in order to get a spray tan. I asked to please speak to the manger because it had never cost me extra money in the past to do the same thing I always did. They took my information and said the manager would contact me. I went in a week later telling them no one had contacted me. Again, they told me the manger will call me, still nothing. I contacted corporate. Left two messages with them and they would not return my call. I finally had to contact the Better Business Bureau. I immediately got a response saying they wanted to fix it and that I could come in for my last two spray tans at no extra cost but they expire in October. I went in this week asking about my account and why would I not have until February to use my tans since that's when they were purchased and all the girl could say was sorry you already contacted the BBB and there's nothing else we can do for you. Absolutely ridiculous. I will never go back, management and customer service are terrible here. Very unprofessional company. read more
