I've done spray tans at the same place for the past 10 years. I was looking to try something new; looked in the area and found Palm Beach Tan. When I walked in I was greeted promptly. I told the girl it was my first time there, she showed me the room and the different add ons. I was super impressed. I've never had a spray tan add ons offered to me at the place I frequent. So I got a violet color and moisturizer added. The room was clean and all the things you need for a spray tan were readily available in the room. I didn't realize what I've been missing out on the past couple years. I love a good spray tan and this place took my experience to the next level. I will be back for sure! read more

First time customer who drove 15 minutes to get a quick tan. Feeling kind of pale from this long winter. Got there and after a lengthy check in I was ready. I didn't want to buy a package as it was my first time. I was told a basic level 2 bed for 8 minutes was suggested for me. The price was 22.00 which i thought was a tad high. Since I had driven a ways to get there and say they had decent reviews I went ahead and agreed. Then there was the problem. I didn't have my credit cards and I was advised they are a cashless business. As I only had cash I was turned away. I felt that there would have been a better way business minded of handling that. I would have told a first time customer to please go ahead and utilize our service as this is not your fault we could not take cash. We would appreciate your business in the future and now you know to bring a card with you. Businesses are not taking advantage of great customer service and it shows. I really like giving great reviews but tonight I don't feel one was earned. Especially for a new customer. read more

I really, really wanted to give this place five stars because they have nice, strong beds and offer frequent deals, but to be honest, the employees almost always make me feel a little pressured and I hate that. The girls working there are really nice and it seems almost all tanning salons ask if you'd like to buy lotion or goggles, but the employees here really seem to push for sales and upgrades. Maybe they've just been trained to do so or maybe they make commission; not sure. A couple of times, they've even asked to read my bottle of lotion, almost like they didn't trust me when I said it was a tanning bed lotion. I have heard that some lotions cause the beds to crack or get ruined, but I'm not sure how true that is. Anyway, I used to live near the salon, but moved a little over a year ago, so I really only go here when they offer deals. I have actually gotten a lot of free tans here, whether it's for customer appreciation or my birthday. They send emails, but not obnoxiously all the time. They offer a free week of tanning to new clients and Foursquare offers deals when you check-in, too. Nice that they provide goggles in every room. The lowest level beds are actually pretty strong. I've probably been to about twenty different tanning salons, if not, more and their lowest level beds are probably one of the strongest "level 1" beds I've ever used. I've also used their strongest bed a few times, which looks like some space transport device; very high tech and looks cool. I believe it is a high pressure bed. I've also gotten a versa spa spray tan here and the booth is really nice; it seems a little nicer than the other ones I've seen and used. I always return to this location basically because of the great deals, even though I have to drive about twenty minutes to get there. read more

I have not been tanning in a tanning bed for years and received an email with an offer that prompted me to want to tan again! I had to call this location just to see the exclusions and details of the offer and spoke with Jessica. She was exceptional with helping me out and I believe she was by herself so she asked to call me back to assist me. Not only did she call me back promptly, but she truly went above and beyond to explain the details and suggested a great lotion that I bought (and love). My experience with palm beach tan just keeps getting better. I've been tanning here for over six months now and I've never experienced any bad customer service here. The staff changes at a fast rate but they're all super friendly and helpful. Also, there are definitely perks for being a loyal customer here. From free birthday spray tans to a free upgrade for a month, they definitely have me spoiled. Ive had tanning memberships at both LA tan and also xsport and neither of those places ever had the customer service that Palm Beach Tan does. Also, still love their spray tanning machines. So much nicer than the piece of crap, old mystics at all the LA tans in the area. read more

I recently moved to the area and was looking for a tanning place for my wedding. I usually don't try out places that have lower than four stars but I noticed all the review were from years ago. I stopped into the Arlington heights location and was very pleasantly surprised. The manager greeted me at the door and was very warm. She was telling me about the different packages and asked what my end goal was. She also went into detail about each package and the difference about the beds. She did not seem pushy at all! She was very informative about the different lotions as well. She then went into asking me about myself and my wedding which made me feel very welcomed. I went with the lowest bed which was extremely nice! They provide goggles and a towel with every package and are extremely clean. They also have a spot for extras that you might have forgotten. I would definitely recommend this tanning salon! The membership prices are very reasonable and include incentives for first time members, such as upgrades and a free spray tan. They also provide complimentary eyewear and have a mirror in every room, which is greatly appreciated. The facilities are VERY clean and the beds are strong. I was able to build a solid tan after a week of tanning on the level 1 beds. The only improvement I would suggest would be to encourage the front desk staff to be at the front desk when customers enter. It seems like they just sit in the office and wait until the door alarm rings when a client walks in. I think it would be more professional and welcoming if there was someone at the desk to greet clients. read more

Yes,PBT is clean and their beds are great. But be careful those of you who have written these glowing reviews of this business. I had been a long time customer and over the years I have had my share of complaints and it has always been worked out to some degree. ONCE THEY HAVE YOUR CREDIT CARD...WATCH YOUR STATEMENTS! I called in 2008 to tell them to take my debit card out of their files. They are not authorized to ever use it again!!! I have 60.00 of new charges for June and July. I have not even walked into this store in nearly two years! If you try and call..."no we don't show any charges" here is a cs number. Same number thats on the website. Thanks for your help! The staff is always on rotation, always a new manager or no manager at all, in general seems to be very understaffed. District Manager is extremely unprofessional, . The beds do not get fixed in a timely manner. Room 4 (AvantGarde) has been down for almost 2 months. Staff is friendly and helpful, but many do not have enough training or don't seem confident in their work. I have been to multiple locations and not one is run the same. I was here once for my first time in a tanning salon. I went for the Mystic Tan and called ahead to see what I needed to prepare/bring with. The staff was very friendly and helpful. When I arrived, the gal at the desk was again very friendly and accommodating. I told her it was my first time with the Mystic Tan and she walked me through the process thoroughly. My only dislike was the up-sell. I let myself be talked into paying 2x as much as I had planned by agreeing to a 3 tan package but I never went back to use the other 2 and they expired. My own fault, but be ready to either bargain for a deal or stand firm and say 'no' if you don't really want a package deal. BTW, I liked the Mystic Tan. I'm very pale and never tan (burn only) so a tanning bed is out of the question. I will go back for special occasions, but for the price ($30 when not on sale) not something I would do regularly. I would go back to this salon, which was clean and inviting. read more

I had a recent encounter at the palm beach in Arlington Heights IL and I came in to do the level II standup for the max amount of time. I was told by the girl that seeing I haven't been tanning at "THEIR"location in a year so I was unable to do that. She proceeded to give me only 8min because she said the bulbs were just replaced. I then went into the level II standup which was not hot and also had 2 bulbs out. I am very dissatisfied with the customer service provided at this location. I have been tanning at many companies throughout the years and have never been told that I am unable to do a certain level or a certain amount of time. My husband as well had the same problem right after me with the level 1 bed. He was tanner than the two girls at the counter and was told he was unable to do more time than 8min on a level one. I will never go here again because as I got out of my tanning bed to change there was a cockroach on the floor. If there's one I'm pretty sure there are more! Nothing is more gross than a dirty tanning salon. Not worth your money. read more

I went here once for a spray tan and it came out ok. Not great but I called to let them know I wasn't thrilled and they said I can come in for another complimentary tanning session so I decided to give it another try before another trip. I got there almost at closing and called before I went in to make sure they could take me. The girl working said it would be fine. I went into the machine and when it had me turn for the 3rd time it broke! It only sprayed my leg and then told me to get an attendant. I was so caught off guard but I guess it's a machine and machines can break. Anyways I felt SO embarrassed bc I had to have the girl come in the room to look at the machine and I was standing there completely naked. She couldn't figure out what was wrong with it and told me to go home and exfoliate and it should come off. I felt so stressed bc I was going away the next day and half of me was sprayed so I was worried my skin would look funny. She told me it should be fine. Then I asked her what I could do and she said I can come back for a another free session or go to a salon in the state I was going to. I thought that was nice but she just seemed a little confused/didn't know what to do about the whole situation. I mean I felt bad for her bc it was past closing and she had to deal with this, but I was a little frustrated bc I was standing there half sprayed and very embarrassed from her having to see me naked. I wanted to hide in a hole. Anyways- I feel bad only leaving 3 stars because in the end it was a complimentary tan aside from the primer I purchased, but I wanted to leave my thoughts. I never ended up going and getting the spray tan on my trip bc I was doing a lot of swimming and hiking so I didn't have time for it to set. Back in April I came in and asked for the best option to get tan before my trip to mexico. The girl offered a 1 month membership that if I paid over EFT it would be cheaper. So I said great Ill do it. I went for 2 weeks. Fast forward to Almost november. I walk in to palm beach and they say I have a balance I owe. What? How? My card expired 2 months ago. What does that have to do with anything? She informed me I had a MONTHLY membership. Not a one month membership. This sales rep in April completely misinformed me and cost me a couple hundred dollars!!!!!!!! Corporate would do nothing but cancel the balance not paid and said that's all they can do. I said what if my card never expired and I didn't owe a balance; then you couldn't help me at all? No answer. I will never return. Watch what you sign even if you are told what it is- by quickly signing and listening to her, they are protected and don't care what I have to say about it. read more

Really nice beds, but unfortunately had a negative experience. I had signed up for a week of tanning for first time customers. I was told that the package would be valid until the following weekend. Unfortunately when I went in to use a tan on the last day, I was told that it had expired and I had to pay $30 for one tan. I had been told two consecutive times the day of expiration, and they did not care that their own employee had given incorrect info. They did not even offer a discount or anything for their error. I will not return. In a market where we have lots of options for similar services, I'd rather go to a business that treats their customers better. read more
