Patatas Bravas

Stopped by on my way to Placa de Catalunya. I was craving a bocadillo which is what made me stop in. The patatas bravas were some of the best I've had. They have a mayonnaise-based sauce, which was amazing. As for the bocadillo, I was a bit unimpressed. I got the Catalan sausage bocadillo and they didn't bother to cut up the sausage, so it only took up about 1/2 of the bread. Half of my bites were just bread. That was a bit disappointing, but everything else was great. I loved their zumo de piña, too. It was very frothy and refreshing for the hot Barcelona days!

Croquettes - not enough crunch plus they're tiny

The Konig in Girona was so damn good I was happy I found a Konig in Barcelona so we decided to give it a try. This particular location is huge! 2 levels and the bathroom is done nicely. We came before the dinner rush so it wasn't a packed a house. We had to wait maybe 5 minutes before we got anyone's attention. I ordered a mango smoothie - not what I expected. It was a tiny glass and tasted like water and mango powder. Appetizers : Croquettes de Calamarsons - black squid ink - it tasted alright. The outside wasn't crunchy Croquettes de formatge cabrales - again outside wasn't crunchy. Shrimp with curry tapa - tiny little shrimps with too much oil and not enough flavor. And finally our Premium Konig Burger - I remember it tasting so much better, juicier and the one in Girona. I was so disappointed in this location. Everything we ordered was mediocre. I wouldn't come here again.

What would you say if I told you that we ate three good quality burguers, cheesy fries, croquettes, fried artichokes, two beers and one water and a brownie with one extra scoop of vanilla ice cream for less than 40€? Amazing, right? And now what would you say if I told you that it was in the centre of Barcelona?? Even more amazing. This place is a total must go in my opinion. You probably won't get these prices anywhere, and if you do, probably the food won't be this good. Their four cheese fries are made in heaven and brought to the table, they're THAT good! Yesterday I felt like a classic burguer so I ordered a tomato, lettuce, onion and cheese one, and it was so, so good. One of the good things as well is that they adapt t your tastes. For example, one of my friends is vegetarian, but she wanted one of the burguers that had meat on it, and she asked if they could add the veggie burguer into any other burguer, and they did it without any trouble. Just perfect! This place always leaves me speechless: they have the nicest food, the nicest decor, and even though they're always busy with clients, they're always friendly and have a smile on their face. P.S: The girl at the door told us we'd have to wait 15 minutes, but they called ua only after 5 minutes of waiting!! That's what I call good service.

Melted so called lemon sorbet.

Sure the prices are good but the food is mediocre at best and the service is sub standard. We had 5 different servers with various states of confusion handle the orders and service. I ordered patatas bravas and a bun with loin, bacon and cheese. The p. bravas were not served with the sandwich. By the time the sandwich came I finished the p. bravas already. The p. bravas did not have an egg as per custom but instead some type of pink mayo. The picture in the restaurant shows white egg mousse on the potatoes. My wife's order of Russian salad, octopus tapas, padro peppers and croquet was equally botched. They came back and said they ran out of the Russian salad and offered fried artichoke instead which she accepted. This caused an almost 15 minute delay and I was finished my meal by then. But wait, her meal arrives and it does have the Russian salad. So why the delay? What confusion. To top it off, the octopus tapas was bland and devoid of flavor. I ordered lemon sorbet and got a glass of melted lemon sorbet with a straw which I returned. They had no lemon sorbet left so I asked for the bill and left. What a let down. I do give credit to the manager who tried his best with good attitude to correct the situation and his team. It just wasn't possible tonight.

The place it's amazing, when you find the huge basements inside its awesome, the menu it's simple and interesting, the prices are good they are no super cheap but in Barcelona are one of lowest prices I saw. The food are good portions, but the speed of the waiter and kitchen was the best! The bad thing that really upset me, was they wash the glasses but they doesn't wiped enough you can see the drops of soap on the glass, also with the spoons, forks, etc.

OK burgers. Not the best place in town. It's huge though, so finding seats for many people won't be a problem.

Patatas bravas and chicken croquettes. Amazing

Really good juice. The sandwhich with chicken (burnt and breaded), ham (bacon bits), gouda (tasteless) and mayo was horrible. Burger was ok.

When you walk in it has that mixture of smells that you know you're absolutely repulsed by and at the same time thrilled to smell. You know everything in there is fresh; the fruit is fresh, the fish is fresh, the vegetables are diverse and look just picked, and the cheese is amazing. The charcuterie is like a fantasy! This market even has plants for sale as well as flowers and a few additional outlying products. When you walk up to a stall, it's not guaranteed that you're going to get a smile or a happy, "How are you?" But it is guaranteed that you will get good service. Selling the product is the name of the game here. I fully believe that if you are ever in barcelona and you come by this market you should absolutely stop in and see what it's all about. It's one of those rare places that you will be extremely glad that you saw and you'll think about later in life even if you don't buy anything, it's worth a look.

Unlike Boqueria, there aren't that many vendors selling cooked foods/tapas/snacks. Instead, it seemed more like a place where locals did their food shopping. We picked up some strawberries, so this is a good spot to pick up some fresh fruit. There's also a supermarket downstairs. They sell flowers and plants out front, and while I definitely didn't need any flowers, it was still nice to just look at them. If you're staying nearby and want to experience some local vibes, you should check it out. Otherwise, it's probably not worth going out of your way for if you're not looking to buy groceries. Note - they're closed Sundays.

Cute plate ware and themed place... but that's where it stops! Cons: The food is bland in taste. What the call pancakes are not even close. They use coriander leaves as a garnish (and I'm allergic) but nowhere on the menu does it say they use it! They had a €3,99 side dish of eggs on a baguette and honestly that was the only normal tasting item. The carrot cake SUCKS! I'm from Los Angeles, I've eaten more then my fair share... there are a few perfect places to get a good slice but those are listed in my reviews. How this place has four stars? I'm G-dsmacked !!! Oh if you need to use the restroom, on the door that actually locks, the moment you're in there to do your business, the lights turn out! Once you get the lights back on, Surprise!! There's nothing to dry your hands with! Clearly this place will lure people in for its cuteness, I'll give it that. Thank G-D we were close to our hotel, as I had to come back just to get sick! I paid €40 for THE VERY WORST BREAKFAST OF MY LIFE!!!!!!

When I travel, I like spending some times just walking thru a local grocer. I had a cart and probably spent almost an hour here looking at the different types of wines, picos camperos and cheeses. I was perusing thru the deli counter and saw all types of meat and wanted to pick up some items at the counter. The lady at the counter started talking to me and I said my usual 'hola', I knew this conversation would go beyond that, so I think she started explaining the difference to me between Jamón Serrano and Jamón Ibérico. I didn't want to break the wallet so I took out my phone and used Google Translate to make sure I was getting some reasonable prices Jamón. After the store manager came out trying to figure out what I was asking, I did get what I was looking for twenty minutes later (see photo of that vacuum packed goodness!). I brought it back to the room and took the rest with me to the Sagrada Família. I recommend checking this market out if you eat nearby at Cerveceria Catalana.
