Kyoto Gardens is my go-to spot for delicious Japanese food! I always order the teriyaki chicken (no zucchini), and they get it right every time. Whether I dine in or take my order to go, the food is always fresh, generous in portion, and ready quickly. The service is excellent, and the owner is always there to greet guests, which adds a personal touch. While I'm not a sushi fan, I hear from others that it's amazing--and judging by how packed this place always is, I believe it! Highly recommend! read more

Service sucked booty, she only came at our table once. Food was okay. Not the best at all. Our waitress was t rude but very short with everything. And kept forgetting everything. Had the door open where flies can come in and surround our food. Not the best experience at all. read more

Still the best place for affordable, delicious hibachi chicken in BG!! Where else can you get a great filling meal like this for under $10? Big fan of the hibachi chicken - this time I also got the shrimp. Always comes with rice, veggies, a side of carrots, and the yummy white sauce!! I always call ahead and get takeout but the indoor dining area is spacious and nice. Staff is friendly. Great place!! One of my favorites in town. Thank you! read more

Kyoto Gardens - Chicken & Shrimp - Sushi Bars Near Me - Bowling Green, Kentucky

As soon as we (party of 2) walked in, the greeter yelled at us while remaining seated at a table (wrapping silverwear) saying "2?" I said "yes." She replied "sit wherever you want." We sat, then ordered (me: shrimp & scallops; her: jumbo shrimp). The "jumbo shrimp" was nowhere near jumbo, and was the same size as the shrimp on my plate, which easily fit on a spoon. With drinks, it was $33.88 + tip. By the way, we never... NEVER saw our server after our food was delivered, until she brought the check. When I paid at the register, the manager asked how the meal was. I said "the 'jumbo shrimp' was the size of salad shrimp. He acted surprised, so I'm guessing nobody looked at our food. He added that he was going to complain. Cisco was supposed to have sent them jumbo shrimp. Yeah, right! Again, I guess nobody looked at the shrimp. If you enjoy this type of cuisine, like I do, get it somewhere else. read more

Kyoto Gardens - "Jumbo shrimp." Fits in a spoon. - Sushi Bars Near Me - Bowling Green, Kentucky

The food is fresh and the staff are friendly and genuine especially Heath. Excellent service and great prices!

Well... it's cheap, I guess? The sushi was flavorless and mushy. Tried 3 different rolls (the dragon, moonlight and monkey) and they all, despite having different ingredients, tasted amazingly the same - that is to say, like mushy water with a slight fishy taste. Also they are deep fried in ... honestly I'm not sure what. It looked like KFC - We began calling it Kentucky Fried Sushi. The Lo mein was mostly salty. Very little meat or veggies. You get served broth upon sitting. Not soup, just some hot brown water. It taste like salt. The teriyaki chicken didn't taste like much. Again not much meat, which we didn't really care about since we weren't going to eat it all. I almost want to give it an extra star for being so cheap... but it just doesn't matter that it's cheap because it's not worth eating. Hate to put it like that but... Also I've just got to say, it bills itself as a Japanese steak house but it looks like a Chinese place inside and they give fortune cookies at the end read more

If I could give this place 10 stars, wouldn't be enough! Owner is a super cool fella.., me and my wife love this place.., highly recommended!! read more

Fire ofc. One of the people who works here was very nice and considerate of all the customers. I got the steak w lemonade read more

I found this place to one of the worst restaurants that I've been to in BG. I walked in to 4 server sitting at a table, in the back, by the kitchen. We stood waiting to be seated, when one of them yelled (or loudly spoke) for us to sit anywhere we wanted on this side of the restaurant. The menu looks like any of the fast casual "Japanese" restaurants you find in towns today. The prices were incredibly cheap-the only positive for this restaurant. With the cheap prices, I was not expecting gourmet food. Surprisingly, it was worse than I thought. We ordered a shrimp tempura appetizer which tasted like nothing, lighted breaded in nothing, and fried to perfection. We ordered a steak and rice and another member of my party ordered a platter with steak, shrimp, and chicken. My steak had the texture of beef flavored chewing gum. The "fried" rice had no color and alas no flavor. The chicken was cut into huge pieces and tough. In the end we paid approximately $41 and the dog ate well that night, I guess. read more

Miss this place one of the best Japanese restaurants in Bowking Green!!! Come here for a quick or dinner with the fam. Reasonably priced and the food is of good quality. Miss seeing the owners lovely faces! Wish y'all the best and stop here if you haven't already! read more

We had Heath "like the candy bar" as our server and he was amazing! He took notice of my hijab and made sure to ask if I had any dietary restrictions and was very considerate to reassure that everything I had was safe for me to eat. He was very attentive and we had a great experience. We ordered the WKU roll and the midnight roll and they were both amazing! Great atmosphere and lovely wait staff read more

I ask for my food to be hibachi, not teriyaki. Same for my grandson. They bring our food covered in teriyaki. I tell them this is not what we ask for and they remade mine but refused to make my grandchildren food. It was the waitress that made the mistake so I paid 50.00 for 3 people to eat and one person got to eat. As I am not going to eat if my grandson can not eat. I am very disappointed as I heard so many good things about their food and it was such a disappointment. read more

Was visiting Bowling Green and after a day of shopping me and a friend tried Kyoto for supper. It was delicious! One of my favorite meals of my week in Bowling Green. The service was fast and the waitress was friendly. She was helpful in explaining any questions we had about the menu. I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken with steamed rice and carrots. The lunch portion was plenty and with a drink my meal was under $10. Will hit this place up again next time I'm in the area. read more

Kyoto Gardens is one of my favorite places to eat. As someone who highly values cleanliness, food safety, and value this restaurant can not be beat. Please disregard all comments about how this food is subpar, or the ambiance is off. This is a casual Asian restaurant, and it is the best casual asian restaurant I've been to yet. To start, the facility is incredibly clean, especially for someone who feels uncomfortable when things are dirty I haven't felt uncomfortable at this restaurant once. As if this wasn't enough you can eat here and bring home leftovers for 10 dollars. This is not a luxury you can get in many places these days, especially at a sit-down service restaurant. The food is always fantastic, vegetables are perfectly cooked every time I've never had a problem with meat being under or overcooked and their ginger sauce is to die for. Some reviews have mentioned how their miso soup is not true miso soup, but newsflash: if you don't like it, you don't have to drink it. Here is an honest review of the miso soup, it is a brown broth clear soup, and the broth is beef and mushroom flavored. No mushrooms or chives are in the soup and it is very salty- and it is free. So take that how you will, if you want one free appetizer to ruin your entire experience that is your prerogative. I will finish by saying this, I have always felt cared for when I step into this restaurant. Every single person on the staff is a kind soul who genuinely cares about your experience. What more need be said? It will always be a safe, friendly, affordable choice for me and my family. read more

I have never been disappointed with the food or service. A couple very small problems have come up, and when they did the owner/manager addressed it immediately. And the food is delicious, all any restaurant can sell you is service, and Kyoto does that quite well. read more

At the risk of being reductionist... Kyoto's is the best deal on earth. When I was in college, I got take out at least once a week, usually more. To make the meal healthier, I ask for no yum yum and for the food to be cooked with no butter and even though it's a hassle, they always indulge me. If you're there often enough they start to remember you and know your name. The staff is great and the food is fast and very affordable. God blessed south central KY with this place and we are not worthy. read more

Always good food at a reasonable price. Good family runs this place. The scallops are my favorite!

Other than the waitress, who was really nice and understanding, everything else sucked. The shrimp tempura and the sushi rolls we ordered were tasteless and when we told the manager that he said it was because we didn't get the spicy crab(but to be honest the sushi should still have flavor anyway and a lot of people don't like spicy food so they should have other rolls that don't have spicy seafood but they don't, EVERY ROLL IS SPICY) and we should dip it in soy sauce(which we did but it still tasted like nothing and we shouldn't have to use sauce that isn't included in the meal to add flavor to it). I mean sure the food is cheap but I would rather pay $15 for sushi rolls that HAVE flavor than $5 for sushi rolls that don't. This restaurant doesn't even deserve one star! read more

Veggies and rice so good. Always quick and good portions. Cheapest hibachi place in town and not at expense of quality.

Just don't go here. If you're the type of person on Yelp you probably aren't the type of person to like this food. There's many other Japanese type places in bowling green with similar foods for much better prices. To put it simply the food is cheap and of very poor quality. read more

Average place. If I happen to be at that shopping center I might consider it again. Does not serve beer and I enjoy a beer with my meal. Not something I would leave my house to go to. I would go to Samurai or Manpuku next time. read more

To supplement: Like all good Yelpers, I am just offering my perspective. It's not the first time someone has called me out on giving a bad review. Good place for some cheap Chinese food. Being a college student my budget is almost non existent, so being able to grab a quick $5 meal to fill me up was great. Being a WKU student you also get a good discount. You can also ask them to not cook it in butter just to be a bit healthier. Easily my favorite restaurant in Bowling Green. The food is always to die for- best sushi/teriyaki chicken I've ever had. I probably go 3-4 times a week. The owners and all of the staff are super friendly, and the food always comes out super fresh and fast. Plus you really can't beat the portions and price. You really get a lot of food for not a lot of money. And the restaurant is super cute and mellow. Highly highly recommend. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE! The owner is such a nice man he greets you everytime you come to the register with a huge smile. I go here atleast twice a week and not once have I seen this man in bad mood. I ordered a sushi roll here and it was awful, just basically several clumps of boiled rice. When I sent the item back and asked for it to be taken off my ticket, they refused to do so. Both the waitress and the manager were unfriendly and rude. The manager even argued with me. Honestly, it was only a $4 roll of sushi, but the principal of how poor the customer service was is enough that I will never go back again, and certainly do not recommend. read more

For price, portion size and typically very tasty... This place is a real value! But I must admit I only get the habachi chicken or the teriyaki chicken. read more

Bad maki (sushi) that I couldn't even get halfway through. I'd be willing to try their entrees ... maybe. It was an impulse take-out and they clearly don't focus on the sushi: only three or four options. But what I saw of their entrees didn't look like the "steakhouse" they claim to be on their signs: more like chunks of meat and vegetables served with rice (sauces like teriyaki but no katsu). No one to perform in front of you. Small menu with very basic stuff. More of a Japanese fast food place? I also had an eggroll and was not impressed. Portions are only medium-sized. Waitresses looked bored and the entire place had an inauthentic, somewhat rushed feel. Not impressed. read more

Not an extensive sushi menu, but adequate. Kind of like a fast food Japanese restaurant. Portion sizes seem about right to me. Any larger would just be take home. The cooked food is very hot when it comes out. Never had a bad experience here. read more

Cheap, good and quick food. Great for a sit down lunch but not going to impress a dinner date.

Hey, Kyoto Gardens has been been getting some bad press here in the reviews. Especially by Minnie L. I don't know what her motivation is, but my family has dined at Kyoto Gardens on many occasions and have had very good meals each time. This place is not meant to be an authentic Japanese restaurant, but instead, a great place to enjoy Asian food at a very reasonable price. The food is hot, prepared fresh, and very tasty. Don't be afraid to go here based on the couple of negative reviews. There are a lot of folks in Bowling Green who visit KG on a regular basis. It is a very popular place. read more
