Went to the front to pay for our food and they said "your waitress should come around with a thing to pay" to which my wife's reply was "we haven't seen her except for when we first got here". The food was great. Yum yum sauce was great. I've only had one better and it's hard to beat. The service was great. The 18% gratuity (parties of 6 or more) is slightly aggravating, especially since they ask for "extra tip" when paying. But not too big of a deal. The night we went was so hot that my friend wanted to get naked. The waitress said she informed someone about it and it may have changed slightly. I was skeptical with reviews. No complaints. The painkiller drink was excellent, I asked for no tajin on the rim. The filet hibachi was just what I wanted. The onion soup was really good too. My friend got the hibachi shrimp and liked it too. I have to say though....potatoes served with the onion/carrot/zucchini veggies mix for hibachi is weird. Its just weird. Everything tasted old, bland, and was definitely not made fresh. Worst Hibachi I have ever had. We were seated promptly as the place was starting to fill up with customers. The booth seats were not clean so we moved to a table instead. The table was really wobbly and had to move to another table. The floor was a little sticky in the bar area. Once situated, our server was very friendly and helpful. We noticed that the people at the table next to us left plenty of food on their plate when they left and did not take any with them. I wondered why. My wife ordered the Hibachi Shrimp dinner with rice and noodles. She said the rice was undercooked and a little crunchy. The soup and salad that accompanied her meal was phenomenal. She really liked the soup. I gave her mine to bring home. I ordered the ribeye steak, medium with a baked potato. The baked potato was hot and delicious but the ribeye was thin and a bit tough. Not tender and juicy at all. We were disappointed overall with our food quality but the service was excellent. My husband and I visited Shogun Bistro, BG, Ky, at new location first time since they moved. We were celebrating our anniversary. We were seated at our first habachi grill table. The host pulled out my chair. He didn't even notice the floor was full of grease, had to point it out to him. It was the size of a basketball. He quickly whisked us to another grill table. He then got a worker to clean up the large pile of grease that came from an uncleaned grease trap. He did not take the time to clean it properly, (trying to fill their tables so fast), so they packed the chef's area with white towels where the grease was still flowing. At our second table a thin young man with a young girl was seated at our table. He hit his thin leg on a sheet of metal broken loose from the grate under the table. He said, OH, ****! Throughout the meal which he only took a few bites (chef made sure this young man received a LOT OF FOOD while I barely received any. My to go box was a miniature box. I weigh 115 lbs.). He was too young to realize brown nosing. Young man kept rubbing his knee throughout the entire 30 minutes rushed meal. I asked if he was bleeding. He said no but I did check it. As we were being rushed trying to enjoy our anniversary meal I looked over at the other grill. It was full of built up grease and old food from months if not years ago. We ordered dinner for two in which price was elevated after we bought gift card. We received a few shrimp, few pieces of chicken, some rice, and a little more of those cheaply filler SPAGHETTI pasta. If the dining room looks like this , just imagine the kitchen and what they do behind closed doors. Saw some chefs wiping there faces and foreheads with their hands. Please, at all cost think about the things I saw in the dining room before you make a decision to waste your money. read more

I've been here several times and am probably being a bit generous with four stars. Sometimes (like when Chris is behind the bar) it's a solid four- to five-star experience. Others, three would be downright generous. I love a good Bento box, and Shogun has them. Plenty of options, from the proteins to the sushi rolls that come with them. They come with miso soup and a salad, and dessert at dinner. They're freshly prepared and come out quickly (especially important if you're eating tempura, which cools in a hurry), and are usually excellent. The last time, however, the sushi rice had not been cooked long enough and still had some crunchy bits in it. Not pleasant. On one occasion, I went in late afternoon on a weekend and the woman behind the bar didn't know what a Sauvignon Blanc was! Why she was tending bar is a mystery. The couple next to me were struggling with the sloppiest incarnation of a sushi roll I'd seen in a long time: the slices were HUGE instead of the bite-sized morsels they're supposed to be, and falling apart. Then, my server gave me a menu that was torn, dirty, and which some kid had been allowed to scribble on. Few things turn off restaurant guests more quickly than giving them a dirty menu, and mine was trashed besides. All things considered, I left before ordering. Following that experience, I emailed their corporate office and related my experience. That was well over a week ago and no one has bothered to respond. At. All. I'm not expecting a freebie but it would be reassuring to know that a) my poor weekend experience was not typical, and b) they cared. As of this writing, it doesn't appear that they do. This used to be about a 4 star, but over the years this place has severely deteriorated in quality. Just got done ordering a Miso Ramen + chicken. $14, but it used to be $10 recently and the chicken is an added item now. Also, the ramen tasted like bagged maruchan. Very poor-quality ramen, soggy, and tasted like bag ramen after it sat around for a while. Their staple has stay consistent through the years at least. The hibachi chicken and steak hit par, but nothing memorable. The hibachi noodles are nice, and so is the rice. Also, I'm giving it two stars cause of how problematic it is to order through their website. The entire menu isn't there, you can't order just a chicken hibachi or just a steak option. Prices aren't updated. The UI is bugged and I have to reload the entire page and navigate through it. Then when I tried to call them, they never picked up and voicemail wasn't set up. Had to walk in and place my order and wait. I shouldn't have to go through a third-party app like DoorDash or ubereats to get a meal. There should always be an option to order through the phone or online. For what they charge for food, is based on the live entertainment aspect. It isn't worth the price they are charging for it. Would consider only sticking to the staple of the restaurant. Hibachi. Everything else is done poorly, but the alcoholic drinks do good drowing the taste of everything else. read more

Be ready to TIP!!! They charge an excessive 18% on top of your already expensive price. I called them and they said, " sorry about your luck, we charge that no matter what". The only way you don't get charged that is if you are a family of 4 or less. Honestly, the food wasn't that great either. This is my favorite restaurant in Bowling Green (which says a lot if you have any idea how many restaurants there are). Any time I'm in town, I have to eat at the hibachi grill. I always get the shrimp and chicken hibachi dinner. Even without ordering appetizers (which I highly recommend ordering -big fan of the dumplings), I always have enough leftovers for 1-2 additional meals! The portions are CRAZY! The photo I'm attaching below is what was left on my plate AFTER I WAS DONE EATING. Really cannot stress enough how much food they give you. The food is also fantastic, better than your typical hibachi restaurant and unique (I.e. the vegetables have more variety). There were things we enjoyed about this spot, including the wait staff, but other issues lead to the 2 out of 5 rating... vegetarian sushi tasted like fish. Perhaps they add fish sauce to their sushi rice or they use same tools to prepare vegetables as raw fish. Noodles were great, but rice was dry. Ordered upside down spicy roll- super good, definitely recommend. Bento box was hubs with steak, egg roll, crazy boy sushi, veggies, katsu. I tried everything except the steak and honestly wish I had got a bento box. It also came with creme brulee, we ate it before we could get a pic . I had the miso Ramen with chicken which was good and very large portion just not enough variety for me and I wanted hot sauce to go with it, lol. Will certainly be back for more! The only dings I have is that the lady up front was super disorganized and would disappear for a while, leaving a really long line. And the floor was sticky. Not that big of a deal though! read more

We ordered Shrimp friend rice - rice cooked perfectly and shrimp were stir fried, crispy and flavorful. The older guy that's been there forever I think he is a manager I guess had to cook for us. three different parties at my table and none of us got what we ordered. Telling him was no use as he didn't understand us. Anyway, I got steak and shrimp and we're supposed to get steak and chicken. When I said stop that he smiled and said, thank you. Our vegetables were supposed to have no zucchini or onions, we all got all the veggies. I said something then too, and he smiled and said thank you. The one thing he did correct he just made the excuse and said I'm really tired. We got our sushi and bang bang shrimp after he had already gave us our rice and veggies. To the simplest thing I asked for a spicy garlic sauce. I got garlic butter. Absolutely terrible quality, every single time. I just paid $45 to have 2 fried rice bowls delivered. One of my bowls only had 1 piece of steak and 2 pieces of unseasoned chicken. The store wanted to argue and refused to make it right, as nice as i was. At first they agreed to remake it for me if i drove to the store, but for some reason decided not to follow through with their promise. This store is ripping people off and not giving them what they pay for, not to mention the meat doesnt even have salt on it. 0/10, worst experience ever. Will not be back. Bring ear plugs if you plan to eat hibachi. This was my first time at Shogun and we came at lunch time for hibachi. The chef cooking for us and all the others chefs were literally banging the metal spatulas on the grill so hard that my ears hurt and I got a headache. The food was subpar at best, the vegetables were burnt pretty badly but the rice and meat were okay. The servers were great and the atmosphere was very nice though! Maybe their normal menu is better, but honestly I don't see myself going back. The prices were just way too high for the food quality. read more

At all other hibatchi restaurants (everytime we go on a trip we go to new japanese steakhouses), my bf gets no veggies extra rice- They charged us an extra $10 for rice! If our server had mentioned it, that would've been different and he would have just gotten no veggies but $10 is crazy! When we asked our server, she had an attitude and basically said sorry but nothing we can do and even went as far to say that it happens all the time. AWFUL MANAGEMENT! Completely unprofessional towards customers and employees. The only good thing about this place is the sushi. It's incredibly dirty throughout the restaurant as well as many health code violations! There's been food, hair, etc within cups of drinks and unwanted dirty water in dishes. Food is handled by the cooks with bare hands on several occasions. The menu is not up to date to include the prices. The "white sauce" is kept in an unsanitary manner along with additional food items. Avoid this restaurant, but the sushi is safe (I think). read more

Solid 3 Stars. Came here for lunch a couple days after Christmas and overall not a bad experience. The quality of the ingredients is meh and the service from our waitress was pretty lackluster, but nothing objectionable. I got the ribeye and the quality of the meat was quite good! I definitely recommend it. The veggies weren't so great (the stir-fry mix had potatoes???), and the rice had way more butter than I would prefer, but I ate most of what's on my plate. Our cook did a fine job but didn't make much of a show of it. It was a little disappointing since the next hibachi over had a different cook who was putting on a real show, but it was fine. read more
