Been to Kyoto many times and every time I go, the food has been consistent and I enjoy my meal. The Hibachi is always fun, staff if friendly and welcoming, make you smile, customers are always clapping and excited... during Hibachi experience the Chef tosses food and Sake for you to catch with your mouth. I don't know how they do the wonderful, skillful things they do but it's always so impressive. The ambiance is Japanese, dim lighting. There is a small bar, booth seating around the side that is sectioned off nicely apart from a larger seating area and Hibachi area. They're great for parties, celebrating birthdays. Plenty of parking, I recommend reservations and calling ahead they get very busy. You should know that even if you don't experience the Hibachi, they automatically add a $12.99 (18%) service charge to your bill in addition to you leaving a tip. read more

Which is why if you're craving hibachi, you should stay as far away from this place as humanly possible. The fried rice had nothing in it and was soggy. It could barely be called rice. The shrimp and chicken had clearly been sitting out for quite some time by the time it was delivered to my house. It was expensive, it was cold, it was terrible, and it ruined my whole day. This place is so bad. I got delivery a couple months ago and I'm still get mad thinking about it. My noodles were so over cooked that they were crunchy. My steak had a bunch of grizzle that I had to put it back on my plate, and my lobster was black and burnt. I brought them home to reheat them. our bill was over $111.00. since there was already an18% tip added to my bill, I did not leave anything more because of my food. We went to Kyoto Saturday night for excited to experience Hibachi. However when we go there we were told that the wait for Hibachi seating was about 90 minutes. We couldn't keep this from happening because they don't take reservations. A booth, and dinner off the regular menu was immediately available so we opted for that. It was quite noisy and people were waiting for the Hibachi service inside and outside the restaurant. The mixed drinks and food were good nevertheless and the service was attentive and timely. Kyoto is a standard Japanese restaurant that offers hibachi. I've done sit down as well as hibachi. I've had a couple of their sushi rolls and I think they're alright. I also find their prices relatively high like $7-$8 per roll is a little pricey. I prefer their hibachi more. They're always busy on the weekend. I like the shrimp and scallop combo. BEWARE!!! I went to go pick up take out on Saturday 11/23. I wasn't even given a total, the girl at the register just took my debt card and handed it back along with the receipts. When I went to sign my jaw dropped instead of the $31 for my dinner I saw $77,893.37 and a partial amount went through for $4,868.23 and it did come out of my bank account! The chef messed almost all of our orders up in front of our faces: friend who ordered shrimp didn't get shrimp, he skipped the entire meal ordered for the child at the table, didn't give another double friend rice (as ordered), gave wrong temp steak to another, and finally missed an entire rice serving for another. When we tried to explain he called the server over and yelled at her in Japanese. Then she brought from the kitchen the two missing fried rices, very dry and a different color than the current rice on our plates that was freshly made. Lastly, the chef did not give us any sauce until he finished the entire meal. This may not seem like a big, but was the most irritating part for me as I wouldn't get to eat my food hot and saucy then like usual. Meat inside was not seasoned very well either. Super bland. Would not order again. Sides: Miso Soup: glad it's mushroom and not tofu. Salad: same as always with the ginger dressing. Good. Hibachi from the kitchen: Veggies: ton of zucchini- I don't like zucchini so that limited my veggies a lot. I think there was maybe 2 mushrooms. Decent amount of broccoli. Rice and noodles: were a bit dry. Rice tastes fine, but the noodles were not my favorite. Probably wouldn't order them again. We went for my daughter's birthday. We have been here several times and have never been disappointed. My grandson loved looking at the fish tanks and watching food being prepared on the grill in front of him. The chef cuts of vegetables and flips them into your mouth from behind the grill. Desperate for sushi after walking through Ellicott Creek Park, we found that Kyoto were open for dining in. They respected social distancing (having us wait outside for a table) and all of their servers wore gloves, and protective face masks and/or face shields. And everything was clean (except a couple grains of rice stuck to the table). There selection was impressive and prices were to be expected. So we waited a few minutes for our server and waited. And then we waited quite a bit longer for the food to come out. When the dishes did come out, they were beautifully prepared. Very nice visual presentation. The flavor on the sushi was okay. Not amazing or anything too terribly special. The fish (unagi and crab on mine) tasted great but there was not much in the roll and the other ingredients that filled in more than half of the sushi piece did not contain much flavor. It was somewhat disappointing. After waiting with our sushi finished, our octopus came to the table. This was a much better flavor, and cooked perfectly! Served in a sweet oil, it was delicious! Some of the detriment to the experience was no doubt due to COVID-19 limitations. So I try not to hold that against anything. The food though, averaged out to be acceptable but not exceptional. The selection though was extensive, so I won't rule out that you can find a jewel. read more

I give 5 stars to the hibachi chef. He was awesome!! 4 stars for the food 1.5-2 stars for the server Went here last night with a friend after work. I take issue with the server. This girl screwed my sushi order up royally twice. There was a major language barrier. I get it. So I pointed to her on the menu what I wanted. I ordered 2 pieces of sushi (squid and yellowtail) and 1 spicy salmon roll. Easy right? I said to my friend $10 says it's screwed up. Low and behold, she came out with eel rolls, tuna rolls, sushi pizza. She then had the damn nerve to tell me that's what I ordered and that she read it back to me! That is not even remotely close to what I ordered! I finally asked for a piece of paper to write it down. I asked my friend if I had misspoke too. That was probably all thrown out as well. My suggestion is with a large sushi menu just give the guests a paper to check off what they want, like some other places do. Problem solved. The real kicker? Gratuity was added!! There were 2 of us. Separate checks. I didn't see it noted on the menu that they add it to your check. My friend and I would have left a lot more than what was added on. We thought it was so rude we didn't leave extra. As a restaurant veteran, I know mistakes get made. At the end of the day the sushi was delish. I also know the employees split the tip. I had no intention of leaving a crappy tip. We were invited here to celebrate our friends birthday and I was excited as I love hibachi. Strangely we had just had hibachi with other friends at another local chain a few weeks ago so I had high hopes for this experience, unfortuantely it was a little underwhelming. Some find the prices for hibachi high, and I agree to a point, you do get a lot of food, and with the entertainment/experience I find it worth it, but my biggest complaint on this visit was that the entertainment factor was subpar. Our chef was not very enthusiastic or exciting. He did a few of the normal tricks but it seems like they usually do more. There was no "more saki, more happy." There was nowhere near the enthusiasm as our previous visit. The food was fine. I generally like all of the parts of the hibachi meal, from the soup and salad, to the noodles, veggies and the scallops I ordered. Everything was OK, but seemed very salty and overly greasy. The room was very cold. There was cold air blowing on us, and then in the bathroom it was like a sauna. Maybe there was some sort of issue with the heating, but it was uncomfortable. The drink service was also very slow. Perhaps we just came on an off day, and I would definitely try again as I love hibachi, but since there are so many other places to get hibachi I may opt to go to one I've had better experiences at first. read more
