Got to my friend's and items appeared to be missing. Only after calling restaurant did I discover that they combined sushi's in to one container despite being two separate items (spicy family roll and California roll). No sides of ginger, soy or wasabi included for two. Called restaurant and was told I "didn't specify" to keep food items separate and so there was "nothing they could do". Shrimp fried rice (another entree for family) was flavorless and only included 5 small shrimp. Definitely not worth the $16 this item cost. I want to update my review from November 2023. I have been back to this location several times since, by myself or with friends and family. Once I did sit at the sushi bar, but it wasn't the experience I expected as it is toward the back of the restaurant which is a bit dark and the chefs are not as engaging as I have experienced in larger cities with high end sushi restaurants. The booths are fine if you are with someone, but I will add the ambiance in the customer seating area overall is a bit dark - I don't know if this is supposed to set some mood but it could use a refresh. Recently, I have been coming for lunch on my own so this review will focus on my takeout experience. Here's my routine - first I check their specials board at the entrance because there is always something interesting listed, full details of what is in it and the price. Usually no more than $15.95 for a unique roll. Maybe a bit pricy for lunch but I have found they are very good and flavorful so a little take out splurge is ok. Yesterday didn't disappoint, I ordered the "April Roll" which was black pepper crusted tuna, cucumber, and egg custard with soybean paper wrap with avocado on top and a white cream sauce over it that made it a 'wetter' role which I love. At $14.95 I thought it was reasonable and the attendant/greeter at the front (sorry I don't know your name) highly recommended it so I decided to try it. A note on his customer service, his is very good. He is patient, helpful and attentive. My experience overall with service has been ok - sometimes at the tables they only have 1 server who can be overwhelmed, but they do their best. Since I have not dined in for awhile, I don't know if this is still true but I wanted to mention that at least they TRY to give good customer service. While I waited for my 'to go' roll, I ordered and he served me a salad and drink that at the front tables where you pick up the orders. To be honest. when on my own I like eating at this spot the best. It's bright from the large front windows, and the attendant is right there to get anything you need and brings your order to you. Plus you get a view of the people coming and going, sort of entertaining actually. As for the salad, I was thinking seaweed salad but ended up with romaine and ginger dressing, which was simple and ok except the romaine was not chopped small enough so I had to cut it up. Next time I will be sure to clarify my salad order. After I finished my salad and drink, my roll order was ready to go. I looked in the bag and I couldn't wait to try it. I seriously considered just opening and eating it right there! But I made it back to work and it was absolutely delicious! So much that I considered going back for another! But I was a bit full from a healthy and delicious "to go" lunch for under $20.00 (not including tip). And yes, I did tip the attendant. read more

So w/o any true competition, Wasabi is hands down the best sushi establishment in WNY! Their specialty rolls are incredibly conceived, almost artistic! And oh my are they delicious! Do not go to Wasabi and not order the WASABI CAKE ROLL! It is spectacular and used to be just a special. It became so popular they had to add it to the regular menu! We were there for lunch and we were quickly seated. The restaurant is dark wood and smooth jazz, with a huge glass sculpture behind the sushi bar. The extensive menu features not only omakase ($35 minimum per person) but also sea urchin and Spanish mackerel. Hand rolls, sushi and sashimi, as well as grilled, fried, and stir fried entrees. I have been meaning to try Wasabi for a while. The interior didn't do much for me so I ordered take out. I would say it's ok ... so what I ordered was 3 of their house rolls - when looking at my picture: Top is scorpion (shrimp tempura topped with eel), middle was called spicy family, bottom was called wasabi cake, topped with tobico. All of the rolls were good. I wouldn't say any jumped out to me though. They also didn't give us chopsticks and it was kind of weird and not as great eating with a fork. My son and I came here for his belated birthday dinner. It was a bit smaller than I thought it would be inside, but it was fine. They had a decent selection on the menu. My son ordered the sushi & sashimi and thought it was OK, but not as fresh as he had it at Fuji Grill. He also had shrimp tempura and said it was good. I got the TonKatsu pork and it was delicious. The pan fried pork Gyoza was delicious. I also got the beef Negimaki, which was good. My salad was delicious, my mixed veggies were delicious, but I did not care for my rice. It just wasn't very good. And I didn't like the consistency of it. The employees were very nice, especially the one gentleman. It's a casual sushi place with decent food. Wasabi was named Best Sushi in Northtowns in 2021 by the Buffalo Spree magazine. Was I fully satisfied with the silly sushi boat choice? With my already lowered expectations, I'd say possibly maybe, but come on! It's supposed to be the Titanic! :) Seated overlooking the sushi chefs was cool, but with a clutter of takeout containers etc. in the foreground, it was less fun or enjoyable. I wasn't thrilled about the service either. Our server was friendly, but we experienced some issues, which unfortunately annoyed me. Asking if we wanted forks or chopsticks was unusual. Bring both if there is any confusion. Also, if I ordered a can of Sapporo beer, I'd like to have a can of beer on my table. The server should have asked if we wanted him to pour our drinks and if the answer was yes he should have done it at our table. It wasn't the case. The plastic straws were already in our water glasses. Also, the table was sticky, and the plates were not sparkly clean. Ordering a sushi boat should have a "wow effect" in my opinion. It all depends on the presentation. Wasabi's Titanic wasn't that great. As for the food, we loved the thick cut sashimi. The sushi was very good, too. I expected the special rolls to be a bit bigger. The Super Dynamite roll was deep fried (my least favorite kind). It was served warm and the cream cheese wasn't particularly appealing. The Rainbow Roll was tiny, but full of flavor. Next time, if I want to celebrate something, I won't choose Wasabi. Their food is good, so maybe my best option would be just order take out. I made a return trip (one of many) to Wasabi in Williamsville. As usual the welcome was warm and friendly from a wonderful young woman who sat us and took our order right away. I was so comfortable and satisfied with the visit that I was moved to add another review. I especially wanted to give a shout out about Wasabi's Tom Yum Seafood soup! Today I ordered the soup and it was tastier and better than ever. In fact I've ordered tom yum seafood soup in other places and it is never as well seasoned and delicious as it is here. The sushi ingredients always have a fresh taste to them, and they're always presented beautifully when served. I just recently started getting the shrimp shumai and the dumplings - both come with an amazing lemony soy sauce that I love - I highly recommend trying either! The staff is always very attentive and friendly when dining in. We also like to order our food to go, and we typically never have to wait more than 20 minutes. Hands down my fave sushi spot in Buffalo. I need to try more than the crunchy spicy tuna and crunchy spicy shrimp but they are SO good that I crave them, and that's usually what brings me back. Also the lunch specials of either 2 or 3 rolls + miso soup are a great deal - $8.95 and $12.50 respectively. Not bad for a good midday pick me up! Everything is made to order and my rolls are usually ready pretty quickly. However, I tagged along with some coworkers to Wasabi today and may have changed my sushi stance! They rave about this place and now I know why. I started with the tom yum seafood soup. It had a rich, slightly spicy broth and was filled with veggies, a few shrimp and thinly sliced scallops. I could have doubled up on the soup and been happy customer! I also ordered a two roll lunch and enjoyed a crunchy spicy crab and crunchy spicy shrimp. Both were delicious. Even though they say spicy, I didn't find them spicy at all. Great lunch experience.
