    Black pepper shrimp
    Frans D.

My first visit to Fuji grill. We were with a large group (14). That was no problem, they have a semi separate area for that. Our waitress was very nice, very fast and efficient. In no time we had our waters and our drinks. The food didn't take long either. Dinners come with either a salad or miso soup. The soup was very nice. Broth with miso paste, seaweed and some small pieces of tofu. I had the Black Pepper shrimp as my main course . A very nice dish with plenty of large shrimp, mushrooms, green peppers and onions. The sauce wasn't specified, but I think it was teriyaki. It came with white rice. The only disappointment was the lack of pepper. It's called "black pepper" but I didn't taste any. We asked for separate checks. That was no problem for our waitress. She had that very well organized too. I was impressed. I will be back here.

This is one of the places I go to when I want sushi and me time. The sushi is always fresh, and I love the ginger salad dressing, and the soup. The service is great and the food comes out fast and the lunch deal is very reasonable. I usually order spicy tuna and the Philadelphia roll. They have a pretty nice bar. This place is usually quiet. And the have a great selection of Saki

At age 16 and eating sushi for the first time, Fuji Grill was my first love. 17 years later, it is still by far my favorite place to go out for sushi! When I was younger I used to get the special rolls, which were always plated artfully and always delicious. Now I normally go for the three roll weekday/Satutday lunch special with miso soup, and stick to more traditional types of rolls. My go-tos are salmon roll, tuna roll, and spicy crunchy tuna. They are always hooked up with a nice piece of fish in each bite. The fish is very fresh and buttery, and the rice is always perfectly done. I also enjoy the hand-roll versions of these from time to time. I am never disappointed and it is always worth the money! Very friendly servers there as well, who always make you feel welcome and appreciated. If you love sushi, go here every time!!

Ordered online. Said order would be ready in 10-20 minutes. It was almost an HOUR!!! They should stop taking online orders if restaurant is full and kitchen backed up !!!!!

My son wanted to try this restaurant for his birthday , since my nephew gave me a great review of it. We went & right away I saw the cool decor to the right at the entrance. Then, I saw the old, discolored, raggedy looking booths to the left. We were seated towards the kitchen against the right wall. I liked it there. They had dividers for privacy & I appreciated that. Our waitress was very nice , helpful & professional. Had a good sense of humor too when she saw me taking a pic of the poster behind Matty. Lol I ordered Tonkatsu Chicken , with salad & fried rice for dinner. I also got the Gyoza . I ordered General Tzo's Chicken, salad & fried rice to go. Matty ordered the Sashimi Deluxe with Miso Soup for dinner & then the Beef Negimaki with miso soup & white rice to take home. My salad, chicken & fried rice were all delicious !!!! The Gyoza was good, but I've had better. At home I tried a piece of his Beef Negimaki & it was so good ! I'll probably get that the next time. He liked his Sashimi Deluxe, he wanted me to try it but, f**k that. I don't do raw fish . I barely do cooked fish. I'm not a Seafood person. Service was great Food was great Ambience was nice Music was fine Parking was great Prices were a bit much, but not too bad. I will be returning here. I had a very nice time here.

Absolutely love this restaurant! Everything I have ever ordered has been wonderful(except the miso soup which is just ok) Today I had the Hawaii Aloha-roll. It has shrimp tempura, mango, is topped with 3 sauces and I seriously love it. The service is usually good and the restaurant is cute and clean.

Literally the freshest and most flavorful sushi around. The portions are good. The price is better. The salmon is always to buttery. The special rolls are always on point. This is my go to place for emotional eating haha!!

I've seen this place on Yelp & it was ok. There's nothing to go crazy over. The food was ok, nothing to brag about. I had better hibachi & i wasn't pleased . . I'll definitely not come back here again.

Vegetable Hibachi with Fried Rice 4/10. Too many onions, no mushrooms. I picked out the carrots and zucchini.

6/9/22 Maple road location. Will not return to this location. Even during the normal dinner rush hours- this location was not busy at all. I'm also very upset that you can't get hibachi with noodles at this location. Salad: as expected. ginger dressing. Same as always. Gyoza 7/10. Was only fried on 2/3 sides. The third side was still the soft and chewy consistency of the normal dumpling wrap. There was also barely any dipping sauce. Dinner Hibachi 4/10. The rice comes on the side in a little dish- rather than a huge amount on the plate like it usually does. Our plates came out with an insane amount of sauce on it. My photo was taken after I picked all of the carrots and zucchini out- but you can see the amount of sauce still... It was drowning out the flavors of the actual food. After eating about half of my plate, the sauce was getting to be too much and the flavor of the dish became very annoying to continue eating. Vegetables 4/10. I only had 1 slice of a mushroom, and kyle did not get any. I also had about triple the normal amount of onions, which was very annoying. You can see them all mixed throughout my rice (I mixed the rice with the veggies, since that's how every other hibachi place serves it) Shrimp 8/10. Crisped on the outside, cooked and seasoned well. Steak 7/10. Server did not ask how we wanted it cooked. It was cooked about medium. No pink at all.

The atmosphere in the restaurant appeared quiet and cozy until I was sat in a chair that was basically in a high traffic hallway area. The service we received was appropriate and friendly. Food tasted good, but nothing I would go back for. Kind of pricey for what you get. I just wish there was something to bring me back.

We had an ok experience here. I guess I expected better but I think part of the issue was a private…read moreevent going on upstairs. I would like to give it another try sometime and hopefully boost my rating. I'd say the best part of this place was the "look and feel" and so many seating options ... bar, indoor, outdoor, upstairs, down stairs, covered, not covered. I think this part was really my favorite and I love sitting outdoors in the summer. My friend enjoyed his chips and turkey sandwich. He had no complaints. I ordered the cool and collected salad. It's one of their GF options FYI. It comes with a house ranch. The ranch I found rather bland. One hand, it allowed the toppings of the salad to shine and they were nice blend. On the other hand, I would prefer a more favorable ranch. That is just a personal preference. My disappointment came with the $2 upcharge for the tiniest bit of sourdough bread. It was so small I honestly couldn't taste the sourdough part (at least the waitress said it was sourdough). And I just was shocked they would charge $2 for that. It really should just be included at that small of a size (see my photo). What was really disappointing was the service. Our waitress was actually extremely nice! It wasn't her attitude or demeanor by any means. And I doubt it was even her fault; but there was a private event upstairs and she had to juggle that and our table and the event was the priority. My friend needed a refill on his drink the whole time and she didn't return after our food. He finished his meal, no refill. He finally had to go find her to get one, which was inside, and I wasn't given a refill myself and just didn't bother asking since she was busy. Then we waited for our check. And waited some more. I decided to use the bathroom and would ask for our check then. Didn't see her on the way in, didn't see her on the way out. Waited a little while again and went back in. She was carrying more things to the upstairs event. And she told her to bring us our check when she could. Overall, like I said, the seating options were the best part. Our waitress was a nice young lady but just too busy with the event and we shouldn't have to chase anyone down for refills AND the check. I think just having her serve the event and another waitress downstairs would have been better managed, especially since hardly anyone was there (hence the people-free photos I could get). And the upcharge for the tiny bread was silly. I would try this place again sometime .. our waitress said the trivia was fun and you can reserve a table ahead of time for that. But I think I would try something else to eat. Maybe a flatbread. And I hope to improve my rating in the future!

Mind you this place is located near UB South, on Main Street so traffic can get tricky if you don't know what you're doing or where you're going. There is street parking, but during peak hours you might be hard pressed to find a spot. We walked in after parking on the street, and the door was propped open and the garage style window was open bringing a nice breeze into the restaurant. The entry way is accessible as it is a small incline walk in which is great for those who are using wheelchairs/canes/walkers. We went to the hostess booth and informed we had a reservation and were promptly sat near the patio window area so we definitely could people watch. Our waitress was patient and sweet while we tried to decide what we wanted of all the delicious options to be had. The restaurant does have a specials menu that may rotate out on the day, they'll post the specials on their website before opening is my understanding. Drinks: We both had water, I got a blackberry smash, and he had two grapefruit flavored beer (which was delicious and I'm not a beer person superbly). My blackberry smash was pretty strong and tasty- it lasted past the meal which is a good sign in my book to savor it. Dinner: He got the shrimp po boy (fried shrimp,Tabasco garlic sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion, blue cheese crumble), on a roll and it comes with sweet potato fries. The shrimp was beautifully cooked and crispy with a well appropriately coated. The sweet potato fries were tangy and delicious. I got the blackened halibut kabobs (coconut rice, pineapple salsa, soy-sesame glaze). And a side of the rosemary Mac and cheese. The kabobs were so delicious- the halibut fell apart and was tender. Coconut rice was on point with the pineapple salsa, it was like a meal and a dessert at the same time. There were some peppers that had a kick so I gave them to him to eat and he loved them. I didn't even get to the Mac and cheese because the halibut was so filling! He had some Mac and cheese though and really enjoyed it. I had it boxed up for me to have a nice snack. This was a very pleasant surprise. Tangy and delicious and hit the nail on head for taste and service.

Indoor was very much reminiscent of a typical bar area on one side and then regular table seating on the other side. The day we went the weather was warm enough for their big doors to open up on to the patio seating out front. The bread and butter they served was delicious and we appreciated being able to try different breads. The shrimp and grits were delicious and they use really big sumptuous shrimp. I actually got pretty filled up and couldn't finish my seafood stew so ended up bringing half of it home. So portion sizes here are definitely big and everything tasted fresh! Their seafood stew is very generous with the seafood and the bread for dipping was delicious as well. Will definitely be adding this to our rotation here in Buffalo!
