She also brought us the check without asking for it! The food overall was good but the Sesame Feta was not as good as the LI location. Also, the menu is much smaller than the LI location. Super fun spot with delicious food! My group had an 8:30 reservation and we were seated just after 8:45. Top dishes were the seafood orzo, spanikopita, and halloumi. Service here is good and slow, in a good way because throughout the night the lights got darker and music got louder and finally at about 10:30 it turned into a whole party! Sparklers were passed around and napkins thrown in the air as guests danced around. Truly felt like I was transported to greece! It was such a great spot for a group night out for any age, just note that the later it gets the more rowdy the ambiance is. read more

Kyma actually has two locations, this is the Flatiron location where I recently had dinner around 6:30pm. I came with one other person and split a meal with the Kymatini to drink. It was not served in a martini glass though which confused me. The appetizer of the day was halloumi fries which was pretty good but lacked in any intense flavor, more like breaded cheesy fries. We shared an order of the filet mignon skewers cooked medium rare and branzino. The filet was tender and delicious, would order again. excellent. It was $42 dollars but split between 2 people it was plenty as a meal. I usually really like branzino but they didn't debone the fish for us. It's hard to really enjoy it when picking out the bones. I guess that's just how it's traditionally served although it was butterfly cut. Taste-wise it was still very flavorful. By 8pm the restaurant is packed most weeknights. Waitstaff is really busy and it takes effort to get their attention. I think they know they can get away the lack of attentive service because people will come anyway. Overall this restaurant is a good place for a special occasion but is a bit much for a casual weeknight dinner for two. We probably spent over $100 after tax and tip. read more

What stood out were the sparklers they added to the birthday desserts. And at the outdoor dining area, it was beautifully decorated. But it was so hot like a sauna last July. It got better later because of the weather. They should put some electric fans if they continue to have outdoor space Next summer. And heating fans if they continue for the winter. Had such a great experience!! Came for a girlfriend's birthday with a party of 10. This is a great spot for birthdays/big parties. Service is amazing and food as well. Highly recommend the crudo appetizers, the CRAB CAKES, and the GRILLED OCTOPUS!! Super fresh and the octopus is extremely tender (just like chicken). That's how you know it's done right!! For the entree, I got the Branzino and it was super solid as well. Paired really well with the capers. We got a few pitchers of their cocktail drinks as well and they were all really refreshing. My girlfriend brought a cake for her birthday and they brought it out at the end with sparklers. At night they have live music (live DJ) and it was so fun seeing the tables around us dancing and vibing. Super cute vibes and amazing experience overall. We came for my birthday dinner. The portions were generous and our appetizers (halloumi and something else) and my seafood rice entree were also delicious. Unfortunately my fiancé's chicken was dry as a bone. Seafood may be the play here. Service and ambience were both great, but they didn't do anything for my birthday, even though my fiancé had put in a note when he made the reservation and we saw three other tables get candles and in some cases, a birthday song. The feta fries... wayyyy too much sauce and feta, the fries got soggy so I would recommend ordering maybe the "toppings" on the side and then dipping the fries into it as you go. MUST ORDER THE HALLOUMI CHEESE. Best item on their menu for sure!!!!! The fish was great too. The shrimp was ok, mainly just sauce and a couple of pieces of shrimp. If you get the grilled fish then definitely ask them to go light on the oil or butter if you don't want it soaked in either of those. read more

Oh my god. I love this place! It's spacious, modern, classy and absolutely beautiful. It's very white... it gives that white Greek vibes. The chairs are white, the walls are white, etc... The place is a hidden gem. It was packed. I've walked past there plenty of times and have always ignored it. The atmosphere is fun, lively and very Manhattanite. The service was superb. I honestly thought we were being punked. Wanted to order a bunch of apps to split with a group of 7. Was told we had to purchase 2 entrees in order to stay at the table after 8 PM. I don't know how it is during lunch time because I came pretty late for dinner but I could not hear my friends across the table because the music is so loud inside. We went here on Friday 9th September for 9pm reservations. My bestie had secured a spot to celebrate my birthday the next day. We got seated right away and the music was priming us for what was ahead. First the food: we had oysters, the grilled octopus, charred Brussel sprouts, the crudo sampler and chicken. The oysters weren't the best I've had, they were pretty small but good. The star of the night was the grilled octopus. Do yourself a favor and order this you will not be disappointed, I promise! Although, the crudo came at a close second contender. Beautifully flavored it just melted in my mouth. Can't say anything about the cocktails because I did Prosecco the whole night. Service: our waitress never once smiled the whole night, she was efficient but seemed overwhelmed. If you're having someone work a Friday night crowd, they need to match the energy so that wasn't there unfortunately. My BF had an amazing server the previous visit and she happens to be working the table next to us - now her energy was everything. We will ask for her next time. The ambiance: I mean what can I say, this is what Kyma is known for! Halfway through our experience it started. The table (or chair rather) dancing. When I first got there and told the hosts I was here meeting a party that was already seated they literally said "your party is downstairs, enjoy".... Ok? Our waitress was a lot nicer but she was not attentive. She would walk by our table and not even look our way sometimes so it was hard to order things. Everything also took very long to come out. (Last visited 4/18/2021.) Hanging out in my favorite city in the entire world and it's time for a Sunday brunch of course! I did some thorough Yelp'ing and found this place! I'm a huge fan of Greek food so we had to check this place out. Here's how it went... Atmosphere/Appearance: This place is BEAUTIFUL. It's set right off of 18th Street between 5th and 6th Avenue. It's a nice day out, but not terribly warm so the outdoor section's heaters were certainly in use. The inside is filled with lots of white and brightly colored things. It made me feel like it's a place a goddess would live or dine rather. Lol. The music was lively, it was busy, but it wasn't rowdy. I loved it. Service: I can't remember who took care of me, but I do know they were pretty good, not perfect, but the manager was top notch. He walked around to each table making sure they were taken care of and even had the pitcher or mimosa with him. Lol. Food: So you get 2 time options for bottomless brunch. For one price you get 90 minutes and for a premium you get 2 hours. Included in the unlimited brunch cocktails are the bloody Mary, mimosa, Bellini and sangria. I love the choices! For my entrée I chose the Greek omelet which is a fluffy egg omelet filled with spinach, leeks, tomato and feta cheese. It was fresh, not over-the-top and full of natural flavors. I do feel it could've used some more salt somewhere, but it was still flavorful. I added a side of Applewood smoked bacon for the meat and salt that I was missing. Value: This place is not cheap. You are paying for the quality of the food, quality of the drinks and the atmosphere... so here goes. For 90 minutes of bottomless drinks, it'll run you $35.00. If you want the extra 30 minutes for a total of 2 hours it'll cost you $45.00. That's a bit steep and that doesn't even cover the food. The food isn't terribly expensive at all, but things add up. My omelet was $16.00 and it does come with roasted potatoes. The side of bacon was $8.00 and it was quite hefty. So yeah, this place is costly, but totally worth the experience. In conclusion, this was one of my favorite brunch places. I'm in love with Greek food and this place embodied that part of the world for me. Truly an outstanding meal. There wasn't one dish that we ordered, that wasn't perfectly prepared, fresh, delicious and seasoned well. You cannot go wrong dining here! Standouts included: the calamari, the octopus and the kyma chips. But there really wasn't anything we didn't enjoy (we came as a large group, which allowed us to order a fair portion of the menu). Dined at Kyma with a large party for a friend's graduation celebration - the outdoor ambiance is very cute and aesthetically pleasing - definitely makes you feel like you're in Greece! We each did the lunch pre-fix and got a couple pitchers of mezcal margaritas. The margaritas were just ok - I've definitely had much better. In terms of the food, the complementary pita bread was fresh, warm, and delicious. I ordered the tomato salad and butternut squash fettuccine. Kyma is a nicely decorated Greek restaurant in the downtown area. Kyma and Eléa on the UWS share the same owners, and unfortunately, once you've at least brunched at Eléa, Kyma doesn't live up to those expectations. While the menu was similar to Eléa's brunch menu, the food was a tad bit bland in comparison. I ordered the chicken souvlaki and was immediately missing the spice and flavor. It was good but it wasn't great. In addition, the bottomless brunch drink options could use a little more flare - maybe a variety of Bellinis instead of just plain peach schnapps. Having said that, the service was good, and if you haven't dined at Eléa for brunch or dinner then Kyma would be just fine but for those that know... just head further uptown. read more

Beautiful restaurant and amazing food! I have been wanting to come here for a while now and am so happy I finally got to experience it! This restaurant is definitely a hot spot and I can definitely see why now. My friend and I came in for Saturday brunch around 1:30pm. I was surprised to see that the restaurant was relatively empty as it's a pretty popular spot. Later find out that this place absolutely pops off for the late brunch hour and even has club brunch on sundays. Kyma is def the move for large parties and celebrations. Multiple tables around us got fab desserts lit w sparklers brought out for bday celebrations (and even a birthday song by 2chainz performance by a talented server). Anyways, the vibes are def right at Kyma. And finally, the food! I was overwhelmed by the options and wanted to get literally everything. My friend and I decided not to pop off too hard and ended up splitting just two appetizers instead of the eight that spoke to us. We went w the octopus and my absolute fav, saganaki. Both were phenomenal and SO flavorful. I especially loved the fig component added to the saganaki. The portions are pretty big so we were both relatively full after just the apps. For my entree, I got the chicken souvlaki and my friend got the burger. Both were pretty basic options but they were SO well done in every way possible. I was coming off of a horrendous hangover and decided against drinking, but the wine and cocktail list looked fabulous. We ordered the grilled octopus, kyma chips (zucchini/eggplant), pikilia (pita/dips), lemon potatoes, horta, tiger prawns, lamb chops, and lobster pasta. The grilled octopus was tender and grilled well. The kyma chips were thin and crispy. The pikilia has a good variety of dips. I liked the spicy feta dip the most. The tiger prawns were a bit dry since they cut them on half to grill. The lamb chops were juicy and cooked perfectly. The lobster pasta was delicious but not much lobster. Service was friendly and helpful. They gave us a chocolate cake dessert on the house since it was someone's birthday which was nice. I would come back to try other dishes. read more

This place is truly a blast. I was looking for a place to celebrate my birthday and a friend of mine recommended the party brunch at Kyma. Didn't take much convincing on her part for me to make a rez....what 30 year old isn't a sucker for brunch?? Kyma runs a party brunch the last Sunday of each month. This isn't your average brunch. There's a DJ, people playing instruments, sparklers, napkin tossing, and standing on the furniture is not only allowed but encouraged. There were 9 of us in my group and we had the best time. The food was tasty, the service was wonderful, and the entire staff was kind and attentive. This was a great experience and definitely worth the price. The bottle service was on point and all the food came out piping hot. Everyone was here for a good time - the crowd was lively and fun. I really want to come back for dinner. Kyma is a DISAPPOINTING experience. This was a restaurant I was super excited about but it was a total disappointment. First, it took me a whole month to get this reservation and I was looking forward to a fun birthday experience that everyone described. However, everything about this restaurant was disappointing. There was like maybe a total of 5 tables in the restaurant on a Sunday evening (so not sure why I even had to get a reservation a month in advance in the first place), but the restaurant made us wait straight 15 minutes for our table while the servers were just standing there. We sat down finally, and they gave us 1 paper menu to share amongst our party of 5, we had to ask multiple times for our menu + they were like oh we didn't realize you didn't have a QR code. Food was meh. i got the lobster pasta + my friends got other things. All of us agreed that it was just alright, nothing bad, but nothing amazing about it. Our server's name was Nico S. and he was the most unimpressive server in the world - I had to go find him 2x and he was just ignoring our needs. I asked for a bottle of champagne and he told me it was out - ok fine, but then tried to convince me to buy a bigger and more expensive bottle, otherwise we can't "make it fun", the energy was just very negative. For the food, I asked him for hot sauce, and he goes "well we have tabasco, nothing else I can help you with." We asked for suggestions and he goes "everything tastes good, not sure what you want" - like yes, that's what I want to hear from a restaurant. Lastly, it was my birthday - I asked if they do anything for birthdays and he goes "I can bring you 5 tequila shots with sparklers, so I thought ok, this is nice, this helps remediate the entire night. The 5 shots cost $90 on my tab, and he never explained it in the first place that we would be charged for it. If I had known it was $90 for 5 shots, I would've just gotten a whole bottle since we already got other cocktails anyways. The best part about all of this is I reached out to the events manager Annette who mentioned that she'll reach out to the general manager Armand and said she cc'd him. She also apologized for "lacking bottles because they had a brunch party" which wasn't my main focus at all, it was more about the $90 shots and service, but she didn't address that at all and just said the restaurant doesn't do anything for birthdays. I've been coming here for years and come back at least monthly - the food is outstanding every single time! Service is a little slow at times but honestly worth the wait in my opinion. Try the octopus and the tuna tartare! read more
