Fab as always, enjoyed the hummus and spicy feta. We also got the salmon, Israeli chopped salad and the tuna crudo. Salmon was perfectly cooked. Fresh, delicate flavors on the tuna. Overall fab meal again.

The ambiance is great, and good service as well! Food wise my lamb kofta was ok, nothing above average. The portion was large which was nice. The initial dips and bread were very good. We were with one vegetarian and it looked like there was only one option under their main dishes. Overall it was a good experience, but nothing stood out to come back

Was in the city for a comedy show at the Gramercy Theatre Friday night and wanted to have dinner after. We threw out a random search and stumbled upon Barbounia less than a 10 min drive away and we were SO happy we did. We were able to make a reservation for 15 mins later before we headed over. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. It was very busy and bustling and the music was loud. The ambiance in here is beautiful! The decor is very modern gives very European vibes and with fall colors on the floral decorations and they just mesh so well. Service: was really good. It seemed to be all hands on deck. Everyone was helping and checking in on each table. Prices are reasonable as well. Drinks: we only had 1 round because we were already drinking at the show. I had the "smoking fruit" cocktail and my date had the Sauvignon Blanc. The cocktail was pretty good. Food: we started with the grilled octopus, calamari, and spicy feta served with bread. Everything was amazing. The octopus was grilled perfectly and wasn't chewy at all. The calamari was fried perfect. The spicy feta was fresh but not spicy at all though, not even like black pepper level spicy so not sure why the name. For entrees we had the branzino and the chicken shish kebab with a size of grilled mushrooms. The entrees were really good but the mushrooms were amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed every single dish we had and enjoyed the service and atmosphere. Would definitely go back and would recommend.

    CHOPPED SALAD

Had lunch at Barbounia with my friend and we were able to snag a cozy corner table. Our server was super attentive without hovering -- water always filled, checked in the perfect amount. I ordered the chopped salad with added chicken, and it was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what I wanted in a mid-day meal. Definitely on the pricier side for what it is. Loved the ambiance and the service, but an additional $12 for grilled chicken on top of a $23 salad seems a bit steep, that being said the portions are large. Still, great spot for a catch-up lunch if you're in the area and don't mind spending a bit more for the atmosphere.

We had a wonderful experience here. From the service to the food, it was truly a terrific place to relax and enjoy. The appetizers, entrees and the desserts were delicious. I was so full I couldn't even eat anymore.

I'm not normally one for a highbrow dining, but this restaurant really hit the mark. Service is impeccable, we've been three times now and every waiter has been amazing. The food is delicious and the menu is thought out. The assortment of dips with bread is an amazing starter. We really enjoyed the duck, the lamb, and the vegetable dishes. The desserts are not to be missed. Definitely make the trek to NYC and give this a try for a fancy night out.

The cozy side walk seating at Barbounia caught my eye and I knew I wanted to make my way back on a day with good weather. The restaurant is designed nicely and the service was very prompt, especially as I got there just before dinner. I didn't get any food and just had a few drinks. Unfortunately, I could not justify paying the prices for the small portions of food I saw online. This place ropes itself off as a special occasion place, which is fine, because $20 for a non-alcoholic drink is crazy! You are definitely paying for the vibe, which might be more present at dinner time. I didn't feel compelled to have a $100 lunch on this day.

Very cool spot-stopped in with 6 others on a Monday afternoon during the winter holiday season-as they were not busy we were seated right away by a warm hostess. The place was decorated very nicely and appropriate for Christmas time. Waitstaff was excellent, as was the food. If you like Mediterranean food you can't go wrong here.

Outstanding on every single level. Noise here is what's happening with the most festive energy ever. Food is absolutely delicious and they know how to make people happy here. Service is friendly, professional and polite. We love this restaurant and so will you.

Great spot for Mediterranean in NYC. Had I not come here with a bunch of vegetarians, I wouldn't have had a good fortune of enjoying their homemade falafel. Hands down the best falafel I've had from any Mediterranean place in the US. Everyone was very professional and quick. It was an airy atmosphere and we were seated relatively quickly. Reservations helped of course. We were a party of 10, I believe. Everything was attended to without any awkward or prolonged waiting. Nice place for a lunch on a crisp fall day.

Wow! Back on a Saturday night and everything was spot on. We were seated in the corner to the side of the bar which I didn't mind because the restaurant was so crowded. Music/overall volume was loud which is to be expected. Service was friendly and attentive. Now onto the food which was exceptional. We opted to share all dishes which I recommend- portions and definitely shareable. We started with mezze which was fantastic- standouts for me were the smoked trout, spicy feta, and eggplant. For mains, we shared branzino, steak kebabs, duck schwarma, and lamb kofta. Each one was delicious, flavorful and perfect just depends what you are in the mood for. I would say the standout was the lamb kofta- it was probably one of the most tender lamb dishes I have ever had and it came with bread that was out of this world. We ended the meal with panna cotta which was good but not my favorite. Last time I was here I had the Silan, and I definitely prefer that desert. We also tried some cocktails- if you are a fan of citrusy gin cocktails the indigo was very yummy. Love this place, will definitely be back again.

I went with my friends for a birthday dinner and had an amazing time! We started with some drinks at the bar because they had happy hour from 5-7pm - I didn't think there was anything unique about any of the drinks I had that night but the bartender and wait staff were phenomenal. They were super accommodating, did not rush us out, made great suggestions for food. The space is very large for NYC dining and the place was very lively since we went on a Friday night. For food, it looked like most people got the sampler dips but we got the full size of the spicy feta which I highly recommend. Additionally, we enjoyed the crispy artichoke hearts, heirloom cauliflower, a shrimp special for the day, and the short rib. We also got the bass, which was a special that day, which was good though I'd skip because the other dishes were way better. The beignets were standard and the creme brûlée we got for dessert was very rosemary forward (which I didn't mind but it could be too much for some people).

Yes, make reservations on Resy. You can access through their website. They are not on Open Table. Super easy & excellent outside seating.

Has Barbounia discontinued daily Happy Hour w/the new dining restrictions? I live in neighborhood/am a 'regualar'- stopped by last wk to support & was surprised to discover no HH specials (neither food nor drinks)- disappointing, hope you reconsider!

Unsurprisingly, there was a long line to put down our names on that gloriously warm and sunny spring evening. We were told the wait time was 1-1.5 hours which honestly went by so fast because there are so many fun places around the area. We got our table at around 8pm in the restaurant area right across the street. I can definitely see the timeless appeal of this place-- the vibes are so fun, the energy is young and vibrant, lights are dim, the music is loud, the smell of sizzling grilled meats and fries fills the space -- all of this hidden behind the facade of a printshop in Chinatown. It's a one-of-a-kind place. The food was pretty good and reasonably priced. We shared: - bottle of orange wine: very generously priced which we easily split amongst us 4. The wine was bright, refreshing and had a lot of body. - dips: we ordered the tzaitziki and the fava bean dip. They accidentally gave us the tirokafteri (or spicy feta) initially which was ironically my favorite dip out of the ones we tried, with the perfect creamy and spicy balance. The tzaitziki was also delicious, refreshing, and cool. The fava bean dip eventually came and it was a bit flat in flavor and texture compared to the other two. It tasted like blended fava beans with some capers on top and no other flavor elements. It was also a bit dry and I was expecting a texture more similar to hummus. The dips came with very delicious pita/regular bread and we also asked for cucumber slices for our gluten free friend (didn't know this was an option but cool!). - octopus: pretty small portion for 4 people but amazing! The octopus was super tender and flavorful. Considering how busy this place is, I was surprised at how well made this was. They have the dish mastered. Highly recommend! Would order again. - gigante beans: tomato bean stew, pretty good and filling! Good to share if you want something a bit more hearty and warm. Also gluten free! Perfect for colder months. - saganaki: I think I would come back exclusively for this alone. It's the perfect dish: the salty and melty cheese is packed inside layers of crispy, flaky, buttery phyllo, with sweet honey on top. This had the perfect balance of flavors and textures. I would order one for myself next time. Definitely a crowd favorite. - mixed grill: the menu said this was for 3 but it was actually a very generous portion for us 4. Delicious meats: it had lamb chops, some chicken and pork souvlaki, Greek sausage, and ground beef patties, all over a bed of well seasoned fries and pita. Truly a stellar dish. Perfect to share and super satisfying. - desserts: we tried the baklava and cheesecake. The baklava came completely without structure and was not that good (too heavy on the cinnamon for my taste and not enough filling), however the cheesecake was rich and creamy with a tangy flavor that perfectly balanced the sweet strawberries and delicious crust! Very well made. My major critique is that the service was quite disappointing. I felt like our waitress was not very kind/ helpful/ was annoyed at us perpetually for no good reason. Additionally, items in our order were messed up or came out too late (which is usually acceptable because we all make mistakes but flagging down anyone for help was virtually impossible). Ultimately, I would probably come again with a group of young people because the food was so good and affordable. The vibe is also pretty unique. However, Kiki's could certainly benefit from polishing its service a bit/ hiring more staff so there is enough attention to customers. While they understandably manage tremendous volumes of people, especially over weekends, that should not come at the expense of the customer experience.
