I took my vehicle (Chrysler 300C 5.7 V8 HEMI engine) in for an oil change and was told by a service technician that the car needed to have its spark plugs replaced which would cost 299. I was told it needed to be taken care of, especially since it was a HEMI engine before they start backfiring and result in further, even more expensive problems down the road. This did not sound reasonable, as the vehicle had just turned over 30,000 miles. So, I deferred to the owner's manual to find that according to the maintenance schedule, spark plugs do not need to replaced until 100,000 miles. It is infuriating and outrageous as a consumer who patronizes a local business and spends their money and entrust the care of their vehicle to a supposed knowledgeable service technician who who then try to sell something that clearly was out of necessity in an attempt to scam the consumer. read more

Called ahead and was told 5 minute and then showed up (5 min later) and it ended up being a 50 minute wait. I understand that there might be some people showing up in between when I called. Got an oil change today for my Diesel engine and was told they used Rotella (designed for Diesel engines) but when I watched them they pulled the reel that said mobile one.. I questioned it and was told it's the same. I didn't know mobile and shell were the same company! I just don't like being lied to about something so stupid. About a month after I wrote my review, the general manager from this store contacted me about my experience. He said he was terribly sorry for the way I was treated and asked if I would come back in, and he would make sure I was taken good care of. He kept his word and then some. I can honestly say that Harry P. really cares about the customer experience and he clearly cares about the reputation of his store. I brought my car back in last week and he greeted me, got my car checked in and took care of everything and then some. (As a side note, I had bent my car key so was using a spare, he took it upon himself to fix the key for me, that's the "then some".) I was also told about their frequent customer card, and the car wash down the street. I'm very satisfied with the service that I received this time. And it's nice to know that people really care about their customer service. So I will have to retract my previous statement, I will definitely go back again. read more

Had a great first experience with this place. I drove from Dallas to Plano early before a work meeting just to stop by based on the yelp reviews. It was definitely worth it they were honest, efficient, and quick to get things done. They advised me of an issue with my serpentine belt, but they weren't pushy. So I called my Mechanic and he told me they had quoted me a reasonable price and that if I could see the cracks to go ahead and have the belts replaced. I will definitely use them again! read more

I love this Kwik Kar! I've been to several locations over the years and this one is the best I've seen. The lobby is so nice, but the service is even better. It's fair and quick, and I've never felt pushed to buy something that was unnecessary for my car (as so many Kwik Kars have a reputation of doing). I got an oil change, brake pads and rotors. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Came here to get my oil changed and they told me my axle was broken and that it would cost $400+ to fix. A couple days later I went to get it checked out somewhere else and they fixed it for me for free. The workers here take advantage on the fact that you're a girl and wouldn't know any better. My check engine light was on and the place I have been using had already let me down twice. I go to church with a lady who has used Kwik Kar (different location) for years but not for repair work. I decided to call this particular location and after speaking with Jon I dropped off my car. He was true to his word and although it took the better part of a day, they did have good news for me and I picked up my car the same day. They found a recall notice (and printed out the paperwork) on a part that might be causing my problem. Hopefully that will correct the issue. CAUTION! On December 3, 2015 I visited to have my car's spark plugs, air filter, cabin filter and windshield wipers replaced. I spoke to a gentleman named Pete who assured me they would have the plugs and filters in stock and could have me out the door in less than an hour. So far, so good. I questioned him a bit about how they could stock every automaker's filters - even those of a low-volume foreign automaker. He assured me that they did have them in stock and explained that in the worst case scenario he would simply rely upon the auto parts store located five minutes away. Satisfied with his confidence, I asked him to press ahead with the work. After 40 minutes I walked by the car to see how things were going and Pete explained that they were waiting on the filters to arrive from the auto parts store. "It'll be just another 20 minutes, " he said. Twenty minutes later I approached the car and was told by Pete that the work was complete. Suspecting that they had, in fact, not installed the filters, I chatted up a Spanish-speaking mechanic and asked him in Spanish exactly where the cabin filter is inserted. He shrugged, explaining that he wasn't sure. I then asked him whether the filters had, in fact, been installed and he said they had not. Disappointed, I turned to Pete who explained that the filters were not available anywhere. "I'm not even sure they make these," he said about the filters he'd been so confident they would have in stock just an hour earlier. Pete instructed one of his coworkers to deduct the filters from my bill, meaning I'd only be paying for the four spark plugs and the replacement windshield wipers. After paying the bill, I had a funny feeling. Might they have not even installed the spark plugs? I asked to see the plugs they had just removed. They could not find them, so I asked the two Spanish-speaking mechanics whether they had replaced the spark plugs on my car. They explained that they had not replaced the plugs -- nor had anyone else. I demanded, and received, a refund for the $149.99 I had paid for the plugs. This shop was going to let me drive off believing I had new filters and plugs when in fact I had neither! It wasn't until I pressed them about the filters, then later about the spark plugs, that their ruse was up. After 75 minutes, I did leave with a set of overpriced windshield wipers. Regrettably, I got the distinct impression this was a calculated scam as opposed to a mix-up of some sort. Either way, I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I have been going to this particular location ever since it opened 10+ years ago. It went through several changes in ownership but the quality of service was always there. Harry was the manager there and I trusted him completely. If he said something needed done, I had him do it. The prices were fair and the work was done right. Well, recently the ownership has changed. I went in for an oil change and Harry was gone. In fact all the familiar faces I was used to were gone. All new faces. They pulled my car in and got the oil changed. Never checked the air in my tires and my windshield wiper tank was dry. I think the only thing they did WAS change the oil. No, I take that back, they did vacuum the carpet. When I went to pay I found that they replaced the oil with regular instead of synthetic. In the past, all the info they needed was in the computer (type of oil, tire pressures, all the maintenance, etc.). I asked and the guy at the front desk said "we have a new computer system". All my old info was gone. I would have paid extra for the synthetic but they never asked. The guy at the front seemed very disinterested. I will not go back and will find myself another place to go to. It's sad to go somewhere and build a relationship over 10+ years just to have it trashed in one visit. read more

Aside from the receptionist not being too swift, I had a fine experience. Went in for an oil change and inspection. 15 min later, the tech informs me that my car is ready, only to find out he only did the inspection. Even though I asked for oil change as well. No big deal, he quickly grabs my car again. A few minutes later, he shows me under my hood a couple of issues. Needed new air filter and a belt. He showed me where the issues were and even threw in a wiper blade i desperately needed on the house since I had these unexpected issues. He was very nice and had my car good to go shortly after that. He worked with me on the price of said work too. I'll be back for sure read more

The 0w-20 oil my scion requires is 22.95 on Amazon with free shipping obviously I would need an oil filter, but for the 15 minutes it took this guy, way overpriced. I can't believe this. I came to Plano for surgery at the Plano Medical Center. My car was flashing a message I didn't understand, and I took it across the street to Kwik Kar Lube and Auto Repair across the street from the Marriott Residence Inn, where I am staying. I was taken care of immediately and with much courtesy. The waiting area is great. They have a wonderful coffee service and very comfortable seating. The service was done quickly and I was on my way! This will definitely be my spot when coming to Plano. read more

I've been to this location several times and am always pleased with the quick and efficient service. That being said, I can't trust the company or its technicians. Each time I've been pressured to have additional, unnecessary work done. The most recent visit involved the recommendation that my differential fluid be flushed due to the presence of metal shavings. This is a significant issue that can't be fixed by merely flushing the housing. Also it should be covered under my manufacturer's warranty as I have a relatively new vehicle. Neither of these facts were mentioned - I was simply told that their 20 minute procedure would fix everything. I refused the service (which was not well received) and took my truck to the dealer who found nothing wrong with it and sent me on my way for no charge. I wish I could recommend this place, but I think it's aim is to fleece customers. read more

WOMEN BEWARE. If you don't know much about cars they will sell you things you don't need. Sent my daughter to get an oil change and they sold her an air filter and cabin filter not needed. Called them and they would not rectify. Said the owners were in Lebanon. They are the only ones that can approve refunds. It took 2 hours for an oil change and inspection. When asked why it took so long they said it was because they broke a part and had to get another. Poor communication skills. Never told us what broke. The next week my daughter takes a trip to Chicago and the skid plate under the oil pan falls off. To bad I can't rate with zero stars. Have 4 cars. Lost all of my business. read more

I've been taking my vehicles to this Kwik Kar location for years. The service is trustworthy and fair. The repair pricing is competitive and reasonable. The technicians are experienced and they always have the same group of techs unlike some other repair places that change technicians constantly. They are a bit overpriced. I know I paid too much to get my car checked and get some items fixed. I would recommend checking out other places first before committing. The only reason I paid as I needed to get it down pretty quickly and it was the closest place to get it done. I will only let them do oil changes from now on. Great automotive shop! Ivan and Chava are great and very helpful. Pete is an awesome guy, very knowledgeable and very honest. They never try to upsell you or scare you into things. As a newly single woman (my fiance passed away on 3/18) it is easy to get taken advantage of when it comes to servicing your vehicle.
