I was presently surprised that one of the Owners brought my air filter over, and recommended we wait til next time to change it out because it was still in good shape. I knew that the lemon jeep I inherited was having some problems which I had to deal with for the State Inspection. The guys who work here are incredible. I know they saved me $300 versus what a dealer had quoted me to fix my problems. These guys who work here are all outstanding technicians and are incredibly personable. I think the big man's name is Ken at Kwik Kar - he spent a lot of time with my car this week, got it passed on the State Inspection, and fixed some problems that I thought would cost me a lot more money to have repaired. Great service and friendly help. My family and I were headed out of town on a long road trip and I wanted to get my GL450 checked out before hitting the road. I called and asked Ray if they could give it a quick once over and he gladly said they could get me looked after. Marcus inspected my car, topped off fluids and aired up my tires in a flash and they didn't charge me anything (I tipped nicely, of course). Super quick and friendly service. I came in this morning because I needed a state inspection sticker and an oil change. I experienced bad customer service from the start of my visit but for the sake of time I will focus on the end of my visit. When the mechanics were finished, I cheerfully complimented them on how fast they worked and asked the person at the register what kind of oil was used. He answered, "Pennzoil 5W30." I then asked him what type of oil came out, regular or synthetic, because I forgot what kind Firestone had used at my last oil change. He said he didn't know and that he just does what the computer tells him to do. I politely said "It would be a good idea to ask the customer what kind of oil that they would like. He then got very defensive, raising his voice and waving his hand back and forth from the computer to my face repeating "if you wanted synthetic you shoulda said synthetic. That's your fault. That's your vehicle. Not my problem." I calmly tried to explain to him that, he was right, I should know what type of oil is in my vehicle, but it is little things like asking a customer what type of oil that they want that keep customers coming back to your shop. He just kept talking over me and getting more aggressive. So I started to sign my invoice. He then tossed two business cards towards me before going out to the shop and loudly trying to embarrass me in front of the other mechanics. One of the business cards that he gave me was for the owner of the shop and another one said "Charles Williams, Manager." I was surprised that I was treated this way but the fact that he was the manager just blows my mind. This is the same person who told me that he didn't care that I wouldn't be coming back. In the future I will warn friends and family about this Kwik Kar location, change my own oil, and go to Firestone for inspections. read more

The service may be quick, but these guys are not knowledgeable at all - there seems to be more emphasis on speed than quality. I brought my car in first for an oil change and because my coolant light came on - they just did the routine oil change and topped off my coolant, but didn't really dig deep to see if anything further was wrong. They also grossly over-inflated my tires - the PSI is supposed to be 38 and they filled it up to almost 50!!! My coolant light then came on again a month after bringing it in the first time. This time they topped it off again and said they couldn't see a leak, but said something ridiculous like evaporation may be the cause of the coolant levels continually going down. They even did my inspection at the time and supposedly didn't find anything wrong. My coolant light came on again a 3rd time a few weeks after that, so I took it to a different mechanic who clearly showed me there was a leak....blurgh. read more

Was blatantly lied to and will not be going back, story below: Took my car in for an oil change and inspection and got a phone call approximately an hour later telling me I needed steering fluid and brake fluid changed with each service costing $89.99. I mentioned to John that I have been going to them for approximately 1 1/2 years and asked for a discount. He said that the bill for all services would come out to about $276 and that he would knock the bill to $240 plus tax, a $36 discount. When I picked up my car I looked at the bill and saw that it was $240 plus tax so I didn't think anything of it. After going home I looked at the bill more closely and saw all of the services performed and that the total originally came out to $240.47 with no discount at all. John BLATANTLY LIED TO ME by artificially inflating the price over the phone to make it seem like he was giving me a discount but wasn't. Anybody that would lie like that to a customer is doing even more shady dishonest things behind the scenes. They just lost a two car customer. read more

Be careful when taking automotive reviews by people who are not savvy in automobiles. In fact, as a suggestion to Yelp, it would be nice to request some credentials from people who are writing reviews. As an engineer and 14 year veteran of being a gearhead, I would not recommend this place even to my worst enemy. I normally change oil myself, but I've been quite busy lately, so I decided to give this place a try based on the reviews. After they finished, I checked the oil and noticed it was cleaner, but still much darker than it should be after a fresh oil and filter change. I had them remove the oil filter to see if it was in fact replaced, but it was filthy and not the same brand that they carry, so they were busted. The manager was unapologetic and, in fact, accused me of insulting him just by pointing out the issue. Seriously? In this economy? I guess they feel the best way to cut costs is to employ lazy, unknowledgeable people at minimum wage. I feel sorry for all of the people who thought their oil filter was being changed and wasn't. read more

Horrible experience. I had my oil changed and state inspection performed. They said I failed due to my brakes. I took my car in 2 days later to get new breaks, and was informed I had 6 mm on each break pad, and the new place said I didn't need new brake pads (when I had asked for them... they didn't push them on me. I recommend Memorial Car Care on Memorial and 610 much more than Kwik Kar.) Anyways, I brought the car back to get the sticker since I had already paid for the inspection, and ended up in the middle of the fight because the guy who test drove it on Saturday couldn't test drive it again because he lost his license between then and now... not so comforting. Then, they said if I could wait 20 minutes there was a car in front of me... well, I've now taken an hour and a half out of my Monday morning to deal with the problem that doesn't exist because these guys sent me on a while goose chase. I didn't have time to wait, and am actually going to just take my car to Memorial Car Care and pay for a NEW inspection where the guys are far more competent, and not driving my car then losing their licenses. Ridiculous. They also left the plug loose for the oil, and I was informed by another shop I had a slow seep and would end up needing to add oil if it wasn't tightened... read more
