Im afraid that both myself and my husband had a multiple bad experiences with these guys about 18 months agao, I never completed my review on here and was just prompted to do so ...so here goes. I would NEVER recommend anyone visit this establishment. They messed up the line on the transmission in his truck and then another time told him they had to pull radiator to fix the air conditioning!!! Realizing that this is completely ridiculous my Hubby left and fixed it himself. I had a very similar experience where they tacked on multiple unnecessary charges and didnt even fix the initial problem. They (If I remember rightly it was the owner) was then belligerent when I called to question. I had to take my car elsewhere and pay the same fees ALL OVER AGAIN! I left this business feeling the need for a good hot shower. There was more pressure than from guys on the prowl at any Greenville Avenue fern bar in the 1980s. First my not quite 3 year old battery needed to be replaced. I also needed: Cabin Air Filter Service - $39.99 - $99.99 Radiator Service - $109.99 Power Steering Service - $89.99 Fuel System Service - $89.99 Brake System Flush - $99.99 Complete Engine Flush - $59.99 Tire Rotation and Balance (done 6 months ago) - $44.99 ...and best of all...Automatic Transmission Service - $129.99 (I have a 5 speed) Then I had to run the gauntlet of the windshield guy who dropped me like a hot potato when I didn't have full coverage and moved on to the other two people that were waiting on their much nicer cars. They figured I wasn't going to bite on the brake sysyem flush on my 10 year old car, but they talked Ms. XXXX on one for her Lexus. All I wanted was an oil change. The guys were very polite and moved fast, but they were WAYYYY too much on the high dollar hustle for me. read more

I stopped in here on Saturday to get my state inspection. I called ahead to be sure the wait wasn't long, and the gentleman on the phone was courteous and assured me there was no wait, so I went ahead and drove over. After I arrived, the lady at the desk greeted me and asked me for my insurance, and I reached in my bag only to discover that it had expired two days ago. (Facepalm). Luckily, my policy renews automatically, so I told her I would call my insurance company and have them email or fax her one. She was very understanding and sweet, and said she'd go ahead and have the guys inspect my car while I took care of that. A few minutes later, they got the fax, and I didn't have to wait much more than 15 minutes for the inspection to be done. The waiting area was pleasant, with a faux fireplace, a TV, and lots of magazines to read. There was coffee available, as well as donuts, and even a small area with a little table and stuff for kids to entertain themselves with. I liked my experience here a lot, and I will be returning for my next inspection! read more

Pros Quick service and before 9a you can get $10 off oil change for "early bird special". Jay the tech was polite and not pushy with the expected suggested upgrades. Cons Will (guessing the manager) would not honor the yelp check in, stating their policy is only one discount. Although this policy is not noted anywhere on the coupons or signage in store. He was also rude over $3. After I told the tech just standard change, they repressured me to upgrade which was annoying. Overall, fast but not great customer service. read more

Just disappointed. The efficiency used to be so much better here. They got to my car. Eventually. And took care of what I asked. At least half of it. Maybe they would have done it all if I would have given them a couple of days to get to it. Sadly, now I'm off to find another car shop. read more

I took my 2005 Mazda 3 in for an oil change and it was recommended that a few other services were performed. It had been a while since I had scheduled service so I thought their recommendations were reasonable. A couple of days after the service, my check engine light came on. I called and shared my concerns. I am trying to sell the car so I wanted to make sure everything was running tip top. I was told to bring the car back in. The manager ran a diagnostic and determined the issue. It wasn't anything critical and I appreciated that he explained the problem. They didn't try to add a bunch of unnecessary services like the dealership service department does. Overall, I'm happy with the service and would recommend them. I go out of my way to take my car to Kwik Kar by the Lake. They make a real effort to provide a nice experience with the clean waiting room and friendly staff. Of course they make the requisite recommendations that you need to grease the bearings on your sun roof motor every two years and replace the filter on the air intake manifold catalytic compressor thingy at 25,000 miles, but no feelings are hurt when you suggest that you will wait until next time. After a quick but positive conversation on a Friday night, close to closing, I decided to arrive first thing Saturday (8:10A) to have a noise analyzed and possibly repaired.the analysis was done, I was given a price for the repair and told I'd be on my way around 12P (noon). While the front tires were off it was determined that front brakes were needed. After that cost was disclosed I said OK. I was told parts would arrive within 30 min. (now 8:35-9A). At 9:30A I walked to Starbucks, but back by 11A. AT 1P the front tires were off and no work had been started and parts were not on the premises! When I asked; "what's going on?!" I was told, "hey, this isn't an hourly job". My interpretation; "we don't care if you are waiting, or what you were told, we'll get to it whenever we can. We're short handed (of course) and by the way, for insurance reasons, get out of the shop area". I said put it back together I'm leaving. which I did. Turns out after going elsewhere on Monday morning, KK diagnosis was incorrect. This KK location on this day was manned by inexperience and lack of knowledge, Including customer service. Be aware, the auto repair industry has more demand than supply. THEY DO NOT NEED YOUR BUSINESS! They are purposely short staffed due to corporate budget restrictions and have too many repairs to accomplish on any given day. I will not return to this location. THANK YOU! read more

Popped by for a synthetic oil change and tire rotation. The good: the guy, DP is what's on the invoice, was very kind and had wonderful manners ALSO I was in an out in about 30 minutes. The bad: $39.99 for synthetic + $30.00 synthetic up-charge? And $24.99 for the rotation. It was $107.65 out the door. My maintenance warranty recently expired so I brought my car here for a quick oil change and also realized I could get it inspected as well, so two birds one stone! I always get nervous about all things automotive because I know nothing about cars and take what the people working on it say at face value. I was in and out in 30 minutes and while I sat in the waiting room I chatted with the manager. These little things always stand out to me versus sitting there and awkwardly having to pretend to be on my phone the whole time. Turns out his wife and I even went to the same high school, small world! I have been going to Kwik Kar at this location for over three years. Tyler runs the business and is always on his game. I get my oil changed here and they do a great job and it is quick. They have recommendations for tune-ups and various other things for your vehicle; however, I never feel pressure to purchase. Tyler always tells me like it is and will give me the pros and cons of each item to do. I just got a new alternator and a water pump. They did both very fast and were able to give me an accurate quote before performing the work. I shopped other locations and there was always uncertainty about the price. Only went one time. Guy was nice enough but they tore apart my glove box to pull out my cabin filter - which I didn't ask for, nor was it asked of me before doing so. Then proceeded to try to find something else to charge me with - something like $35-$45 for a new filter (buy one online for less than $10 instead). Unethical and will not be returning. read more

I'm giving them 2 stars for two reasons. (Sorry fellas, really like you but) First, the cleanliness of the garage. Secondly, the kindness of the workers. I've lived here for seven years in the area and taken my vehicle to be serviced for an oil change multiple times. Couple times I've been in they have missed diagnosed my vehicle with having an issue that far proceeded what was the true problem. First, they stated my AC was broken (it wasn't cooling) which would cost me anywhere from $795 to $1200. I took it for a second opinion to my repair garage (down the street) I use in the neighborhood and they said it was completely incorrect and would only cost $130. Secondly, they stated my transmission had a horrible leak and would cost me around $700 to fix and that I shouldn't even drive it off the lot. Again, took it to my garage and they said it was incorrect and was leaking gaskets and cost me $190 to fix. I understand they have commercials and advertisements to pay for so they mark the price up but to completely over charge and miss diagnose the problem is uncalled for. To tack on one more story, I once had my vehicle inspection done and they were going to charge me $20 for a simple back tail light changing. The bulb cost me $1.47 and I drove up and unscrewed two screws, that's right 2! Took me about a minute to change. Moral of this story is get a second opinion when they say something is wrong with your vehicle. And look elsewhere for an oil change/inspection. read more

I've been getting my cars inspected and repaired here at Kwik Kar by the Lake for about 3 years now. The service has been nearly perfect; I am often surprised at what they can do with a BMW (avoiding my having to take it to a higher level imported sports car technician and/or dealership. Most folks might guess KK is just a lube n' tune type place; oil changes etc. Turns out they can do most anything - brakes, engine, A/C, etc. They don't do tires but do balance wheels. Only repair I had to go somewhere else for (other than new tires) was when my airbag light came on - took it to nearby import specialist for reset (luckily, the airbag mechanism was fine). I can highly recommend this place. Note: Cons I can think of are A) they sometimes leave fingerprints on various portions of my interior after they do more major work (I have a light-colored interior, however they should still cleanup after repairs). B) not critical, but they used to have little Nestlé "Halloween-sized" chocolate bars & Hershey's "Kisses" in the bowl by the check-out. Although I generally eat organics/healthy foods at home, an occasional mini Nestlé crunch always made the bill amount go down a little easier :-) If they were to clean up after each repair, bring back the chocolates - maybe even a health-food version mixed in there - and use Starbucks or nice strong organic beans in their waiting room coffee, this place would be Nirvana :-)) read more

I went in June of 2016 to get state inspection. Although the wait was long ( maybe 45 mins) it was nice, clean, and friendly. Well time was due for inspection and I went back. Nobody approached me at my car like last time and I actually just walked inside and after waiting 5 minutes and 2 employees walking on and out not acknowledging me I just left. I don't mind waiting but at least say hi well be right with u like normal businesses do. Came to Hamms on I 30 and Carroll and they said 10 mins and they actually approached me. read more

I've taken several of my cars to this location with no incident. I don't know if they have had a change of management or what but recently I've had several issues. Most recently I took my daughters Volkswagen to have a simple oil change. I asked then specifically to make sure that the front cover was placed correctly after the oil change so it wouldn't fall off under speed. I took my truck to this location over a month ago and got good service on my truck ended up costing me over 1100 to get it fix so at my surprise when it started to act up a couple weeks later so i took it back for them to check up on it and see if it was the same problem i had brought it in before so when they told me it was going to to cost over 600 more to fix it so my husband told them we would think about it and he was going to come pick the truck back up and when we did he notice they had left the windows down and someone had vandalized our truck then when he ask to speak with the manager they said he was gone and he would call us back so we have called numerous times and he has failed to return our call they kept saying they had to speak to corporate to check out the cameras so now they told the cops there is no video so someone lying and it makes no since my truck was on ur property and its up to u to make things right simple as that i wont stop til this is resolved. read more

Wow...do not trust these guys. I'm sure they're fine for a plain oil change but if they give you and estimate for ANY OTHER STUFF get it checked out. They told me I had a transmission fluid leak at a seal and tried to sell me on a $380 repair!!! I took it elsewhere for a 2nd look NO LEAK! There was some residual fluid from a prior repair - but in short the technician called a dirty seal a broken seal and attempted to get me for almost $400. Again...I'm sure they're just fine for the most basic of tasks but if they can't tell the difference between dirty and broken....???? Just get a 2nd opinion read more

Wish they had a zero rating. Went there to get my oil changed and my inspection done, and they called me an hour later telling me I needed other stuff done. I had a budget and I couldn't go over , they said no problem they would do what they could. Picked up my car much later that day and came to find out that yes they kept me at my budget because they didn't change the oil or do the inspection. I was furious! The guy "helping me" started to yell and curse at me because I was upset, and when I demanded to speak to the owner he yelled " I AM THE OWNER!!!" I asked him if this was how he treated all of his clients, he told me to get the F out of his shop. I was so mad, not only did he not do any of the work I asked him to do but he had the nerve to curse at me. There are much better places to take your car. I came in here for an inspection, which is simple enough. They weren't busy, were polite, and the whole thing took less than 20 minutes. They had an air conditioned waiting area with a bathroom, as well as a small outdoor patio you could sit on. About $40 if you're a AAA member. read more

I was excited to go here and try out a local business. The staff were friendly enough at first and they lived up to their name in regards to speed. However, when I attempted to use the discount on the Yelp App which is provided for this location they denied the coupon. They said they only accept coupons that they mail out. After showing them the Yelp App with the coupon clearly stated on there, they still refused to honor the coupon. Their prices were also rather high, but I was paying for the convenience more than anything. I told someone in the back room that this was deceptive and he should contact Yelp if this wasn't the case, and he argued with me. Unfortunately, three dollars is not a lot of money these days, but a car repair place that I can trust is worth a lot. read more
