Highly recommend this shop if you've had negative experiences with other places pushing or upselling unnecessary maintenance items on you. I have an older Chevy Silverado. They've always been honest and only brought required items to my attention. They work quickly. When I've had larger issues with obscure parts, then send away for them quickly and complete the work on time. They've never had to keep my vehicle overnight. Do not ever come to this place of business for any reason, not even something as simple as an oil change because they will advise you to do something like flushing your transmission fluid, which will then turn around and force your transmission to break. I have had issues with this location in the past, so I have avoided them for years. Unfortunately, I was in a pinch this weekend and decided to give them another try for an oil change. As always, they tried to upsell me on everything. They took out the air filter, which I get is standard, but they freaking left the air filter sitting on top of my engine and the casing flipping open. I didn't realize this until a couple of days later when I kept hearing something rattle around, so I opened the hood to find the filter just sitting on top of my engine. I've brought my car in a total of four times now for the same issue, spending almost $2,000, and my car is in worse shape than before. The first three visits were frustrating enough--each time I was told the issue was fixed, only for the check engine light to come back on shortly after leaving. This last time, the car was shaking and making horrible noises, far worse than when I first brought it in. Despite this, they're now telling me the codes the car is reading are the same ones they supposedly fixed on the previous visits. To make matters worse, I discovered my car had no oil during this most recent visit, even though I was charged for an oil change on the third visit. After I pointed this out, they claimed over the phone that the car was full of oil, which is impossible. This leads me to believe they hurriedly added oil after my car was towed in today to avoid taking responsibility for any damage caused to my engine. After the 4th and final visit with little to no communication from the team and me constantly having to call over and over to get feedback or see if it was ready for pick up, I picked up my car last night only for the check engine light to come right back on this morning. After calling and asking for all receipts of work done and for the owners information I was told they would be emailed and I'm still waiting....they also told me they couldn't give me the owners info and that I needed to wait for him to reach out. Horrible experience getting my axles replaced. Cost me a ripoff price but that's my fault ("fool me once..."). However, the reason for the one star are all the awful issues that ensued; 1. continued to have problems only to learn that they wanted to replace my transmission for another $3k. 2. Took it into a much better car repair place to learn that they put the axles in wrong AND used the wrong ones for my car! 3. By the time I learned #2, Kwik Kar's warranty to repair had run out. So they refused service to fix despite it being entirely their fault! I've since learned most Kwik Kars in the area are no longer privately owned - great step in the right direction, but that doesnt wash away my awful experience. Stefan was incredibly helpful when I pulled in with a tire losing air and I couldn't figure out how to read the dashboard on a new car. He not only identified which tire was affected, he made sure all four tires had proper air. The one losing air had a nail in it, and he made sure I knew it could not be patched due to where it was. It's the second time I have major customer service iissues with this particular location 8810 Garland Rd: I go in for a new battery for my car and the gentleman tells me it's gonna be $182 and after about 30 minutes, the job was done, and they come back at $243 and so I asked to pay the agreed amount of $182. We were going back and forth, and Kwik DID NOT WANT TO HONOR THEIR WORD. They eventually brought the price to $205, and so I bit the bullet $9 or so with taxes included. The worst part wasn't it though. When the person who worked on my car, flat out looked at me, perhaps 5 feet between us and with a tone of anger said: YOU ARE A MUSLIM, GET OUT OF HERE. I was shocked at the racist act, and told him, where I was actually from and that a racist comment was uncalled for in the way he talked to me. Even their manager saw it and said they will handle that personally since the manager himself has Muslim family . And if that wasn't enough. He proceeded to say: I BET YOU WORSHIP ALA, in an extremely prejudice tone. It was NOT a good experience. I'm never going back there again. I was shaking just remembering the gentleman's intent and prejudice nature when he looked at me and said I'm a Muslim and to get out of their shop. Horrible experience. I've already contacted my attorney to see how discrimination is handled for real in this country in 2022. I've taken our vehicles to this shop on and off for the past 8 years and have seen the staff changes bring in a mix of good and not so good service techs. However, I've never had an issue with the level of service I've received from them. The shop itself can get your in and out in a reasonable amount of time. They don't keep your car hostage while they try and find other things to fix. That being said, every time I've gone I get the..."Sir, can we talk with you for a second...here are some additional things we can fix on your car". I appreciate the fact they're pointing out issues with the vehicle and can certainly try to fix them. However, you should be prepared to either give them a firm "no thanks" or "sure, how much". Most recently (Jan 2017) the staff has been excellent and understanding of my concerns with the vehicle without trying to upsell or make me feel like I don't understand my own car. They haven't been pushy and overall I had a very good experience. Look for their coupons in the mail for discounts on services. Also get in before 9am for their "early bird" discounts. Recently they failed my inspection for 'torn' windshield wipers. I replaced the wipers and they have not been able to re-inspect for weeks due to their own computer issues. On 7/27/2023, at about 2:30 P.M. in the afternoon, I drove into this business establishment to have a diagnostic and potentially a repair as my AC was not working and pushing out hot humid air in a cycle with cool air. Sometimes hot and humid and sometimes cool air. It was over 100 degrees outside that day. The gentleman who took my auto said they could run a diagnostic and find the problem for $169.99. I agreed to the diagnostic and waited in the lobby area for the diagnostic. When the auto was ready, they charged me a total of $183.16 and they told me they had corrected the problem and the auto was cooling. I asked what was wrong with the AC and I did not receive an answer. Mr. Alex, the manager, charged my debit card for these funds. "They told me, when I was checking out, that if this did not work" to come back and they would try something else!!!!! This was a " diagnostic ! " I paid for not, "lets try and they we will try again at your expense!" As soon as I drove out of the driveway of the shop and onto Garland Road, the same hot, humid air began again. I got to a stop light and called this shop about the issues. I called several times and could not get anyone to answer the phone. Finally, I called and Mr. Alex, the Manager of this business. I explained to Mr. Alex, the manager the problem with the auto having the same symptoms and no AC just like it was doing when I came to the shop and prior to being charged $183.16. He said, "Too bad, you do not get your money back and we are not making corrections, we did a diagnostic and you paid for a diagnostic." I called again and tried to explain that this was not a diagnostic as I still did not know what was wrong with the AC and it was just the same as it was prior to your shop. Again, Mr. Alex said, " Too Bad." This is not only unimaginable, it is fraud and illegal to hold out a "Diagnostic" and never give a diagnosis! I experienced deceptive trade practices and fraud. I am reporting to Better Business Bureau, Attorney General of Texas and filing a law suit for treble damages due to fraud. Never Never Never Never Never go to this fraudulent repair shop.
