I've been going to Nina to get my hair cut for many years. She's really really sweet and patient. I like that she really listens to what I want and doesn't cut it the way she thinks it should look like at other Vietnamese hair salons in little Saigon. She also takes her time each time and doesn't rush. Nina is very kind and you can tell it's genuine. She remembers me and stories about myself and family members and asks how they are every time I see her. I've taken my dad and a few of my sisters here. My mom has been coming here to get her nails done for years. Yesterday, I decided to join her for the first time and it was one of the greatest "beauty services" decisions I have ever made. So I'm not one to get acrylic nails EVER. Reasons being are because my nails are naturally pretty strong, I can't have long nails in the healthcare field, and most importantly, I've had acrylics twice in the past and I just felt they looked so weird and bulky on my hands. Because my best friends and I are celebrating my graduation in Vegas next week, I impulsively thought, "YOLO, why not try acrylics again?" As you can see from the pictures below, Linda did an amazing job. So amazing of a job that I feel like I need to repeat myself. LINDA DID SUCH AN AMAZING JOB WITH MY ACRYLIC FRENCH TIP NAILS. She took her time and made sure every single nail was shaped and filed and cut and painted to my liking. Seriously, they are blended so well that they can legitimately pass for my natural nails. And this is the greatest part... these pink and white tips with gel were only $35. THIRTY-FIVE DOLLARS. FOR INSTAGRAM-WORTHY NAILS. Most places charge way more and don't even do this great of a job! Aside from perfect nails, Linda and all the women working there were such sweethearts. All the employees greeted EVERY customer by their first name as soon as they walked through the door. I just thought that was incredible because not a lot of businesses (in CA) do that. Also, a PSA (public service announcement): My mom has told me that a handful of people have complained about the services or certain employees here due to a language barrier. When Linda was working on my nails, we were 100% able to understand each other and have conversations on topics that go beyond nails. Some employees here have thick accents, but that doesn't mean they "can't speak English." So please, do not be THAT customer that complains about the employees' "inability to speak proper English" when they really can, and it's just ignorance getting in the way of your ability to understand. I've been here twice. I had a great experience both times. Parking is easy and free. There's a lot, with a lot of spaces. ;) First time I went in, Ann helped me. I had a pedicure. She did a great job. It held up a long time. I got to know her. We carried on a good conversation. My feet were terrible- but she took her time cleaning, trimming and cutting. Second time I went in, Linda helped me. The night before I tried to give myself a pedicure. I cut the nail on my big toe- on the side- too deep. I was in pain and rushed in. I found this place after seeing Maggie's nails had a 30 minute wait, so I took a chance with this place being only half a mile away. A full set is 18 here, and my first pedicure was 13. I am very happy I came at all because I LOVED MY NAILS. Linda was the nail technician that took extra care of minimizing any pain, and was so cool with me when I smudged my right nails trying to get the money out of my wallet! I went in and asked for the gel mani, but seemed to have gotten regular nail polish, they didn't use the black light. MUST READ!!!!! Don't come here !!!!! I went on the 30th of October here and may I say it was without a doubt the WORST nail salon I had ever been to. I was getting my nails done and I told the lady that I wanted my nails orange for Halloween along with some designs. She proceeds to tell me that she can do it and starts doing my nails, after a while I noticed that she completely didn't seem to care that I told her I wanted my nails a certain length and shape. My nails were not only bulky but they were different shapes and lengths. I pointed this out to her and she said she was going to fix it and never did. She gets up to get my color and comes back with black. I told her I didn't want black and she then told me that the orange cracks and that it wasn't a good color. At this point I'm so aggravated and disappointed since she didn't care and started to paint all my nails black. She then pulls out the orange and says she's gonna do a design. She had to be joking when she threw on some dots trying to pass it off as a design. They were so ugly. My mistake was having paid for it when I realized the mistake I did I walked back and asked her kindly for my money back since the nails were hideous. She then made a huge scene and refused to give me my money back. After having asked for an hour she finally agreed to give me my money back. The part that shocked me was that she proceeded to take her nail clippers and chop off my nails so that I couldn't get them fixed anywhere. The two lady's that work here should be fired!!! I go there every once in a while for cuts and pedicures. My mom has been going there for ages. The ladies who work there are good at remembering you. I think they do walk-ins, but it's best to at least call ahead to make sure they're available, since they don't have a lot of people working at any given time. You could probably make a same-day appointment easily. Additionally, when you leave, you get that great feeling of supporting a small business and its down to earth employees. You have to see Nina for hair color, cut, blowout, and highlights. My friend and I have been going to Nina for two years now and I am pleased every time I leave her shop. Many times I bring a picture for her to copy - the style or color. I have medium length dark brown hair with just the right amount of highlights to frame and brighten my do. I am afraid of getting a haircut. When I was growing up, if I got a poor report card, my mom would make me get a haircut. (her reasoning - my focus was not on my studies) Anyway, Nina has never cut off more than I asked! She has flexible hours and her prices are low and very affordable. You can't ask for more! Men's haircut for $8, enough said. I was in and out of the place in about 20 minutes. There are a lot of other hair places in the area, but this was the only place that advertised $8 for a men's cut. My hair grows out pretty fast so even if I get a bad haircut, I don't mind, I just don't go there again. Not the case with this place. I didn't get the lady's name who cut my hair, but I noticed that she took time to make sure it was a clean cut. I only came to this place because the regular salon I go to was booked today and this place has a 4.5 out of 5 stars review. I should have walker out after entering and seeing how dirty the salon was. My 11 year old daughter had a hair cut and the lady who cut her hair was all attitude when I asked her make the layers shorter. I had pedicure done and for one the foot sink was flirty looking, not covered by plastic and nothing was put in the water that my feet were soaked in (no salts, foot soak, or scented powder). The equipment that was used on my toe nails and feet were clearly not disinfected. I asked the lady to wipe my toe nails and feet with alcohol afterwards thinking that she would do this with cotton balls, but she squeezed alcohol over my toes, and some of the top of my feet and then wiped my feet with a towel that was stained. I hope that towel was washed and only looked dirty because it was old. This place would not pass a health inspection if it got one. I felt bad for both of the workers because they looked my mother in-law's age, so tipped them each $5. The total cost for me was $40, but I'm never returning to this place and went home to shower and so did my daughter who mentioned that the chairs and trash can I'm that place was filthy looking. read more

****Review based on waxing only**** I have been needing to get my eyebrows done for a while and I spotted this place after having lunch. I thought what the heck and walked in. I was greeted immediately upon walking in and everyone I encountered was super sweet. I went to the back room where they do the waxing and it kinda seemed more of a storage room than an area to do waxing. But anyways, I rolled with the punches. Linda was the one who did my brows and the entire time she was extremely personable and really tried to get to know me. Overall the transaction was really pleasant. She had to work a little harder than normal to finish my brows because it had been so long between waxes. When I got in the car, I noticed some stray hairs and promptly plucked them once I got home. But overall I would say it wasn't bad. The cost was $7 and I threw in a $2 tip because she really had to work at them. She did ask if I wanted to get my lip waxed, and I politely rejected the offer and she was super kind about it. She didn't continue to offer other services unlike many other salons I have been to. 1 star off for cleanliness of the location .5 star off for having to slightly clean up my brows when I got home. I would give 3.5 positive stars for the staff and pricing, but yelp wont let me give half stars. If I am in the area again and need a wax I would come in again. read more
