We spotted this place and saw they had good reviews so decided to give it a shot. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with this amaaaaaazing curry smell and thought "yup, definitely eating here". We informed them that it was our first time coming in and they were more than happy to explain the menu and make recommendations. We went with samosa to start off and it was surprisingly great. Then took their advice and ordered the chicken tikka masala and chicken kadai. We were able to adjust the spice level to our liking and let me tell you we were not disappointed! Finally got around to doing this review. We ate there for lunch with some friends a few weeks back. It was Thursday I believe. We were the only ones there. This place is a buffet and got pretty good reviews on Yelp so we decided to try. Well I have to say I was disappointed. The buffet was pretty limited. Everything was pretty bland except for the goat curry which was delicious. The tandoori chicken was very dry but the naan was good. The most disappointing thing about this restaurant was that no one came to clear the plates during our meal. We all ended up eating on stacked plates. There really is no excuse for this. The restaurant was completely empty. One of the ladies came out, possibly the owner, and asked if we wanted more water but never picked up any plates. The plates were not cleared until we got the check. Sadly we will not be back. My 2 star rating is on the generous side. read more

Decided to test this place out due to a friend's recommendation. Was definitely not disappointed. Some of the best Indian food we've had since coming to Houston and definitely the best we've had in Katy. We got Samosas, veg pakora, goat curry, goat biryani, dal tadka, saag paneer, butter chicken, navratan korma, chana masala and bhindi masala. We really like this place. It's more of a neighborhood spot than a "night out" place. Their saag paneer is spinachy and hearty. We tried the madras lamb forthe 1st time ever and it was delish. Delightful little place with delicious Lamb Korma and Garlic Naan. I came for dinner, so I cannot speak for the buffet food. I ordered the Lamb Korma and Garlic Naan. It was just me and I was served quickly. The Lamb Korma was simply delicious, moist and full of flavor. Unlike some other places I've been, weird bits of lamb were absent from this dish. The rice was also perfectly cooked: not wet, not dry. And the coup de grace was the garlic naan. For the first time in my life, the garlic naan was sufficiently garlicky. I ordered food by the Internet. When I arrived at the Restaurant at the time indicated they could not find my order and told me the internet was down and so I'd have to order again. I went elsewhere. However I noticed a couple hours later that my card had been charged. I called and they told me to "Call grubhub." Grub hub said I needed to contact the owner first. An hour latter Kurry Wallah called and told me " your order has been sitting here since 5:45" when I originally stopped. I reminded them I had been there but they sent me away empty handed. They rudely hung up. I returned to the restaurant several days latter and they told me again "call grub hub". I can't say if its good or bad food. This place is disappointing @ best. Food quality is not consistent, taste is not what you would expect and service is terrible. Plus server / owner tries to bamboozle you into thinking food is all authentic. If you ever go to an indian restaurant and ask for a vindaloo, and they ask you how hot do you want it, you should know there's something wrong. This, is without a doubt, the best Indian food in Houston and Katy area! The Biryani is the best! And they do the best Naan. I have read some of these reviews and I haven't tried the buffet, but I personally do not care for any buffet! So I cannot comment on that. Order off the menu and and you will not be disappointed. They also serve Taj Mahal beer, which is one of the best beers I've ever tasted. I definitely recommend it. read more

We usually order samosas and they are good. But recently we ordered two chili paneers to go. When we received the order only one chili paneer was ready and when we asked about the second one they quickly prepared and packed the second one. The second order prepared in rush was terrible. WOW! My boyfriend and I visited Kurry Walah this past weekend for lunch on Saturday and we were not disappointed. I was a teeny bit worried when we arrived because the restaurant was empty, but I'm attributing that to COVID and the impending bad weather because it definitely wasn't because of the food. I ordered the chicken samosas as an appetizer and the butter chicken (medium heat) as an entrée. He ordered the goat biryani for his entrée. The samosas came out piping hot and were delicious! Crispy on the outside, and soft and flavorful on the inside. Topped with the tamarind sauce that came on the side and it was a definite winner. The entrees came out shortly after, and when I say that the butter chicken was the best I've ever had, I am NOT joking. Creamy, buttery, tomatoey, with just the right amount of spicy heat. Oh man, I could not get enough! My boyfriend is not a fan of spicy foods at all, but I convinced him to try a bite of mine, and even he said he would order it next time! I tried a bite of his goat biryani, and it was sensational! The goat was so tender, and just cooked to perfection. The spices were just beautiful in the dish. It was his first time trying goat, and he loved it. We also ordered a side of Garlic Naan. It was cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of garlic. I also wanted to shoutout our waiter. I have no clue what his name was, but he was so helpful in recommending items and answering questions, and coming back every so often to check on us. Bonus points for excellent service. Of all of the Indian restaurants I've ever been to, this is BY FAR the most unique and delicious. The food was aromatic and flavorful, with a huge variety of choices on the menu, many more choices than your typical Indian restaurant. I also loved that when you asked for it spicy it was truly spicy! Not to be afraid, you can order mild as well. All of the ingredients were fresh, well cooked, and clearly high quality. All I can say is wow! What a great experience all way around. Probably the best butter chicken I have ever had and the nan was heavenly. Try the Taj Mahal Lager. I was floored on just how great that beer tasted. Not literally but I could have been if it were not having to drive. Lol. I was in the mood for Indian food so I decided to check this place out for the first time today for their lunch buffet. Upon arrival, I did get turned around a few times (from following GPS) and I'm not sure why google maps was taking me to a house when this place is clearly on Mason rd in a small plaza. So for anyone wondering, I asked the lady who works there and she told me there's a glitch on google maps and she has contacted them to fix it. So yeah, the lunch buffet was delicious, I tried a little of everything and everything had great flavors and tasted really good. Everyone will leave happy whether you're a vegetarian, non-vegetarian, have a sweet tooth. 2. My wife and I love Kurry Wallah. We had some family over this weekend who love Indian food and even lived in Mumbai and they loved it. I am so excited to have finally found a true Indian food restaurant in the Katy area: Kurry Walah Indian Cuisine Kurry (as we live in "K"ATY) Walah delivered like a champion. From the outside it is an unassuming location and frontage, however, once you step inside you will smell the wonderful and familiar aroma of Indian cuisine and it will awaken your sense of taste and perhaps remind of your favorite Indian food. Chef-Owner Nirman Shah will greet you with a smile and serve you himself his great meals. -The place is clean and unpretentious with two big screen TVs showing the Food Network Channel instead of the usual inappropriate movie channels when you are eating with your young ones. So they are children friendly 100% high chairs and all. -We requested two Sampler Platters, Vegetarian and non Vegetarian versions... and boy were we surprised: 9 choices of deliciously made Indian cuisine, the platter included a Samosa appetizer with two types of dipping sauce, sample dessert to die for, Naan bread hand made in a traditional "tandor" oven and big explosion of flavors. The sample was huge and I can easily see two people eating from it. -Traditional Indian Tea made to perfection to close the meal. -The restaurant has an open kitchen, for the picky eater like yours truly. -Restrooms are dated but clean. -Tables and floors were spotless. -Your table will have real silver wear and real cloth napkins, so that was a bonus for me. As a side note, Chef Shah shared his recipe for a perfect Basmati rice without any reservations, he was kind, genuine, candid and generous. Overall a little jewel for the Katy families during the weekend and a perfect choice for the busy locals during the week as they have a generous Special Lunch Menu.
