A small shop located very close to the blue line station in Division. I had asked to try two of their more popular ice cream flavours - pandan and ube. Really liked the ube flavoured ice cream on a hot summer day.
I ordered a two scoop ice cream on the cone, with Thai cookie and mocha ice cream. The staff was so funny and allow me to taste the favours. There are some sitting area at the back of the restaurant, and the waiting space is large. Beside the normal favour, they have their signature Doraemon ice cream. Will come back again and try other favours!
Lots of yummy flavors, staff is super friendly and helpful. Unique flavors and tons of topping options.
I like how they have new flavors throughout the year but that makes it difficult when you find a great one. I got the s'mores flavor and it's my favorite one so far! You are able to try samples. There are a couple of tables on the upper level but not the best for bigger groups. No public bathroom and parking can be difficult to find at this location.
Kurimu has such good ice cream! They have interesting flavors that are done very well. I couldn't make a choice, so I ended up getting the flight! With the flight, you can't choose which flavors you get. The person working chooses what to give you. But it's okay because the person working chose the best flavors for me!! I tried: pandan, mango yuzu, black sugar boba, matcha kit kat, coconut, and vanilla. They were all very good, with either pandan or matcha being my favorite. My only complaint is this tiny flimsy piece of cardboard they give you to hold the cones. It's a super cute idea! However, it is extremely difficult to balance this and eat the ice cream. Something with just a liiiittle more structure would have been so great. Otherwise you might just need to get a bowl and spoon.

I like the fun flavors Kurimu has (pandan, ramune, and carebear flavor which was a mix of lychee, mango, and I think ube) and the cute collaborations they do with other brands/cute cartoons (like currently, Doraemon). However, while I enjoy trying their ice cream, I don't think this is an ice cream I can have a lot of (and ultimately I wish Chicago had better ice cream options comparable to LA or NYC). Overall, this place is solid and I might get it if I'm in the area, but probably won't trek out here just to eat their ice cream.
Came here a few weeks ago while the Line friends collab was still in season. Got the Choco Banana and Mango Sticky Rice in a Midnight Vanilla cone. Kind of pricey for ice cream but very much worth it. Even the place is super cute, with space to sit and hang in the loft, whereas the other location in UIC is very small. My only gripe is that at the time I went with my group of friends, the guy making my ice cream gave standoffish vibes. Could be a stressful day, but even the girl working with him looking stressed was still polite and had better customer service. Also when asked about adding boba as a topping to my ice cream, he said he can put it in a cup -- whereas the UIC location, the standard is to put boba in the bottom of the cone. I didn't like his method so I didn't get boba this time. But otherwise, I love the concept of an ice cream shop showcasing Asian flavors. I wish we had one in South Florida!
Good spot for ice cream with unique flavors. My favorite is the black sesame -- rich and delicious. Service and ambiance are okay, but worth stopping by for the ice cream itself.
This is a perfect ice cream spot. The banana KitKat ice cream was amazing. My wife got the pandan coconut soft serve and she absolutely loved it. Cute vibes and great service.
I love it here. I think it's awesome that they incorporate Asian flavors. The servings are very generous. The staff is always friendly. And the ambiance is everything an instagram poster could need. My favorite is anything with taro.
I can't begin to understand why this place exists. Overpriced Asian sugary drinks with minor connection to Doraemon. Do many Chicagoans have a strong connection or nostalgia for that? Yet, there was a solid line the entire time I was there. My lychee sparkling drink was literally just lychee syrup and soda water at a ridiculous price. I will say that the place is clean and bright, but I can't imagine why I'd come there more than once. A standard boba place would be better and cheaper.
Kurimu is always the move when you're craving something sweet - especially for asian flavors! I love that they have different collabs where they decorate the whole store and sell menu items based on the current theme. The current collab is with Peanuts/Charlie Brown - super cute!! I've been to all 3 locations (UIC, Shaumburg, and now Wicker Park) and this location had the best decor! I always get the kurimu swirl because they rotate the flavors so its always fun to try them all. This week was horchata x milo. I was afraid the chocolate flavor was ganna be too strong but its very mild. I wish the horchata flavor stood out more but it was still delicious! I need to try their boba next! read more

Cutest little dessert shop. The workers were so sweet and kind. They have this banafee ice cream there that is just right up my alley. It's banana and coffee flavored ice cream with pie crust chunks and SO good. Even their cones have an amazing flavor. Just delicious. They don't have a public restrooms. Street parking in the city. read more
I've had a couple good fruity soft serves but man the prices here are just ridiculous. They had a Beatrix collab recently and I haven't been in a white so I went to try it. Was supposed to be white chocolate and caramel soft serve swirled with caramel and chocolate chip cookies on top. Couldn't taste either flavor in the soft serve and the cookie pieces were stale. And it cost (after I rounded up to the next dollar for tip) TWELVE DOLLARS for a cup of mediocre soft serve. I was si disappointed. Won't be back with these prices when I can get Jeni's for $6. read more

Went back for ice cream since it was so good the last time I stopped here. Unfortunately service wasn't as good as it was before and when I went it wasn't busy at all. The lady didn't seem to like the idea of giving us samples or answering questions. Overall she didn't seem like she wanted to be there working. The ice cream and soft serve were still really good except the boba was more stuck together from what I remembered before. That's ok though as it was all still really good. Still a really good spot to visit and take pictures! read more
Food - you come here for the ice cream obviously. Very aesthetically pleasing! I really liked the mystery swirl but I played it safe with purple yam. They can only do toppings on the swirls though sadly. Service - friendly folks are ready to help you order should the screens confuse or reject your creations as was my experience lol. Ambiance - I loved all the snoopy and neon lights. There were a small gaggle of screaming children whose parents were pretty absent and who kept running around the seating area, but that's not the fault of the restaurant at all. We were there at 7:30pm on a Thursday. It was pretty calm and fun aside from that. Not a lot of indoor seating - some standing tables. No bathroom. read more
Love the Peanuts Collab! It's everywhere, the decor, the table, and the merch. The cashiers are super nice when I asked for samples. I wanted the soft serve, but didn't like the current flavors (mint and white chocolate). I do highly recommend the ice cream. I tried the purple yam, mango cheesecake, and ended up choosing Blueberey Cheesecake and Care Bear Stare (Mango, Lychee and Purple Yam). Great flavor, and creamy texture. They also have Uzumaki (like a sundae) and Bobashake, especially if you like cereal as a topping. read more
Overrated! Overpriced! I am pretty disappointed in this kurimu. I hear about kurimu all the time having such unique flavors, so I decided to come here to satisfy my cravings. I've had ice cream at the kurimu Care Bear location and loved the durian-flavored ice cream there, so I had high hopes coming here. They let you sample the ice cream flavors they have out. I sampled the ube, and it fell flat for me. Too sweet and barely any purple yam flavor. The matcha was also weak. I ended up ordering a milo & horchata soft serve. The milo tasted like plain chocolate ice cream, and the horchata tasted like a funky vanilla. However, the texture of the ice cream was true to soft serve: creamy and smooth. Portions are very small, especially considering how much you are paying. Almost $8 for a very small swirl of ice cream. If I had to rate on the food alone, I would give this kurimu a 2/5 stars. However, the service was decent. And they definitely worked hard on interior decor. Each kurimu is themed, and this one is Peanuts themed. There was a small set of stairs that led to a raised area with chairs and tables for customers. It was cute, but not enough to save the rating. Overall, 3/5 stars for me. read more
I stop by Kurimu every so often for ice cream! They have such a wide variety of asian flavors and i always struggle picking which ones I want to try! The space usually has a different theme every few months, making the space super cute. Theres a small space in the back for you to sit and enjoy your ice cream and the staff have been nice every time i stopped by! You can ask for samples before selecting your pick! They also serve drinks too if you don't want ice cream. read more

The girl working the shift at 4PM Thurs 9/15 was so efficient it was incredible to watch. She needs a raise lol. Peach Soft Serve was SO good The cone was not sealed quite well and was drippy. Got a strawberry lava w boba (boba was a little hard for my taste). Very cute place! read more

I came here last month when the flavors were ube and hokkaido milk so of course I got the swirl. The ice cream was rich, smooth and creamy. I liked my flavors that I got, but I wish there were other soft serve options. It seems like they rotate the flavors. I also tried the milk tea with boba which was also good. There is a nice area up some stairs to sit and enjoy the treats. They also have some unique asian ice cream flavors that I would definitely want to try if I am ever back in the area. read more

Ahhhh, the famous Kurimu! This was my first time going here - 'twas an extremely long awaited moment! It's been on my list for quite some time and for some reason I just never got around to it. While I did enjoy my dessert, it pains me to say that it was a tad overrated. The place itself is pretty spacious with a semi second floor where you can sit and stand to eat/drink whatever you got. It's very Instagrammable with neon lights, colorful Care Bears, balloons, and sleek looking furniture. I got the soft serve swirl - the current flavors they have for the soft serve is strawberry and pineapple. It was pretty good! I got it topped with boba, too. While I did enjoy the strawberry & pineapple soft serve, I think I was just so set on the taro and earl gray tea flavors (I also didn't know these flavors rotate) that the strawberry & pineapple just didn't smack like I thought it would. It was pretty expensive, too - around $10 for a pretty small soft serve swirl in a cup with boba. I will say, I totally wish they had set flavors for the soft serve instead of having rotating flavors only. Maybe have some constant flavors that will always be there and then have 1 or 2 rotating flavors? I don't know, I just think the soft serve is so famous (especially the taro, matcha, and earl gray tea) and adored that it should always be there ;) I will for sure come back to try their brown sugar milk tea, and once I hear they have earl gray, taro, and/or matcha soft serve! read more

One of my top places for desserts!!!!! Definitely check them out if you love cute ambience and good ice cream/swirls. They usually do collaborations! The ones I saw was with Cute Bears & the recent one is Peanuts! Definitely has all the vibes you need. Make sure to try their bubble tea as well. Will definitely visit again during their next collaboration!!! read more
Pretty and modern and clean and the soft serve and ice cream are so good and the flavors are unique. A must have ... inside is cozy and warm and there is a half level up w seating to enjoy indoors. Love the flavors like white peach and oolong tea and black sesame and pandan and Thai green tea. read more
We came here for the taro soft serve but found out that their soft serve flavors rotate and they only had banana and chocolate this month. They also said there's no way to know what the flavors of the month are without coming in which is a little inconvenient. They were also out of all bubble tea drinks and their dining area was closed. It was about 30min from closing time which I realize can limit availability, but it would make more sense to just close early than have late hours and then offer half the services (and they said they'd been out of bubble tea for several hours). We ended up getting ice cream which was great flavor but relatively expensive ($5.50 for a single scoop). The purple yam was a good substitute for Taro Ice Cream. Overall was disappointed by their half available menu and service, but it's not a bad place for ice cream. read more

Do you love Perfect purple ice cream? Guess what--this establishment has TWO perfect purple ice cream flavors. The ube was everything you're looking for--smooth, milky, and not too sweet. The lavender soft serve? Blow me down!! It was gentle and fragrant without being perfumed. Will be back. read more
The Purple Yam with Oreo and Black Sugar Milk Tea ice creams were divine!!! Came here on a Saturday night after stuffing ourselves at the Iron Age Koren BBQ. My bf who just recently discovered Ube was elated to see the Purple Yam with Oreos and was happy as a clam with his decision. I ordered the Black Sugar Milk Tea and did not regret it one but! It tasted just like boba tea--but in a cone! The also have Boba Tea and soft serves, as well as cool toppings like cereal, pocky, and pearls. I'm definitely trying the Milk Tea soft serve with pearls next time! read more
We are so excited to have a Kurimu in our neighborhood! You can refer to my review at the UIC location. The service is consistent and these people work quickly and seem to always be working hard for the owners. We recently went to the new location and tried their Harajuku Strawberry and melon flavor. UNREAL. By far, our most favorite flavor. We tried going back again but they rotate flavors as usual. It's honestly the only bummer about this place lol because I want that flavor year round! When we tried getting it for a second time, they had already replaced it with White Rabbit and Raspberry. It was perfectly lightly sweet and tart combo but it was no strawberry melon. Ok, I'm just being a little silly because as good as those flavors are, really ALL their flavors are delicious. The perfect lightly sweet treat, every time. Their boba is also delicious. I really enjoy the cheese foam. Makes it a little sweeter and slightly savory. My fiancé explains it well - it's like Jeni's quality and unique flavors but in soft serve form. Yummy! read more

This place is the CUTEST! And their taro soft serve was AMAZING. The green tea ice cream was okay but I definitely recommend the taro soft serve and will be back to try more flavors! I love how clean and cute this place is, they play such fun good music that I love and have so many menu options. I want to try all the flavors and get all the merch here. I'm obsessed! read more
Stopped in again for the Stan's Donuts x Kurimu collab. So freakin good!! Start at the top with a mini chocolate covered donut and chocolate drizzle, pair with Hokkaido milk soft serve, finish on the bottom with a mousse-like consistency cream that tasted like ridiculously fresh, real coffee beans. They knocked this one out of the park. read more
After having lunch in the neighborhood, my friend and I stopped by to grab dessert. I got the durian and black sesame flavor. My friend got the thai tea and black sesame flavor. The flavors were really spot on. The inside was very modern and spacious. The staff was very friendly as well. I'd definitely go back! read more
This is a cute and yummy ice cream place!! They specialize in Asian flavors and rotate the soft serve flavors monthly. I got earl grey and taro flavors swirled together in a cup. Both of these flavors were so good, and it was an unexpected combo that worked really well together! I especially liked the earl grey, but it's a close call! The soft serve had a great consistency too - it was very creamy and smooth. The ice cream itself is also presented very cute, which I always appreciate :). I got a perfect swirl and a spoon that looks like a little shovel. I will say that it is a little pricy ($6 for the cup) but you do get a good amount. Maybe different size options would be nice? I still think it's worth it as a treat every once in a while and I'll be back next month to try the new flavors! read more
I have the BEST time exploring hidden spots while walking around in Chicago. This was such a little surprise that I COULD NOT RESIST They had all my favorite flavors : black sesame durian Thai green tea matcha lychee pearl mango purple yam sweet corn After moving from Hong Kong to Chicago and having traveled to Japan & Thailand maybe 10+ times (they were 5 hours away from HK), I always crave unique Asian flavors everywhere I go in Chicago This was SUCH a great spot ! The flavors were super rich & creamy, not too sweet Matcha + boba was awesome Pineapple swirl soft serve was Soo tart and tasty I love how you can add boba and mochi + try their Kurimu Silver swirl or messy boba options with cone or cup. Shikoku Uji and Uji Matcha As expected, Kurimu delivers on creamy, strong flavor soft serves like at its original Taylor st location. For me, they've consistently impressed on many regular and rotating Asian flavors. The price may be debatable but quantity and quality are two thumbs up. Service was good. Thankful Kurimu opened up closer to us, because this is exactly the type of treat I constantly CRAVE. Fantastic location and the space is hip (do people still say hip? I digress). Loved the Kurimu Swirl soft serve. The "fancier" cones (matcha, lavender, and rose?) cost $2.25 extra, so beware! Would recommend trying out their treats if you aren't a heavy chocolate dessert type of person. Cheers to a successful second store opening!! read more
I was super excited when I first heard of an Asian inspired ice cream shop in Chicago but after coming hear several times and trying the various monthly soft serve flavors and ice cream, I've been constantly underwhelmed. While their monthly flavors are fun and typically not too sweet, they typically taste artificial and even the fruit flavors lack real fruit components (ex. mango tango is more sweet than tangly and lack real mango flavor). The current swirl is White Rabbit and Tokyo Raspberry and both are very artificially flavored. I may be back to try additional flavors but compared to other ice cream brands, I'd prefer more natural tasting ice cream. read more

gave kurimu another try and tried the new swirl flavors - milo/horchata. i learned that milo is a chocolate-flavored malt powder. came on a saturday around 8pm and it wasn't super busy - got my order in probably 5 minutes. i was sad they don't give out the peanuts cookies anymore even though the collab is still happening :( the swirl was overall good but not amazing. when tasting the milo and horchata separately, it tastes like their respective flavors but definitely more subtle versions. when eating them together, it felt like i was just eating a vanilla/chocolate swirl. i also wish they gave more for $9 because the inner part of the swirl is hollow so it doesn't look as much as you think. read more

This is the cutest Kurimu location (since there's a few in Chicago) that I've been to! Ordered the Pandan ice cream and had help choosing a flavor from the workers. They explained the different flavors & letting me sample a few flavors. But the standout of this specific location are the Snoopy decorations & how big this one is. Love all the neon signs and especially the seating area! You have to go up a few stairs and it's a super cute date location esp when it's not super busy! Very adorable n very much prefer this location!! read more
Came in for some ice cream and was very impressed by the Peanut theme and the unique variety of flavors. The young lady working advised that we could try flavors and we did. I decided on the Brown Sugar Boba ice cream and it was delicious. A new and different experience when it comes to the typical ice cream shop so Im guessing that's why the prices were a little high. Kurimu is real cute inside. The one thing that bothers me is how unclear their menu is. They provide no descriptions of what any of the items are and the names of each item are vague, maybe this is the old, crotchety side of me coming out lol but the ice cream and bubble tea here are both delicious. It's a great addition to the neighborhood. Not much parking available over here since Division is always super busy. read more

Ice cream is good but service was horrible. Don't know if that's her name " Iz " was giving me an attitude after I purchased 2 scopes of ice cream ube and durian and asked for a small cup, with no verbal answers she just give me the dirtiest look. My cousin saw it and was like what a service. We all bought something. Doesn't matter if you're going through a bad day but please don't pass it along to your paying customers. Ever!!! Thai tea smoothies with boba was good. We also got 2 soft serves black currant and strawberry. The kids loved it. read more

I've been to kurimu a million times and I am obsessed with their boba milk tea! Tried the soft serve this time (vanilla with captain crunch, wanted something simple) - it was good but nothing out of this world. The restaurant hours online said they closed at 10pm we walked in around 925 to place our order and the person behind the counter was rude and seemed super rushed, we ordered quickly and then were told they changed their hours to 930 - we apologized for walking in last minute and explained the confusion cause of the closing time being different online. 2 of us received our order and we waited about 10 mins for the third one, the person working there asked us to leave so he could lock up and we pointed out that we were missing an order, he wasn't the most friendly about it even though it was not our mistake and then proceeded to make the last order. Good food and ambiance but subpar service - I have worked retail before and realize it's not ideal to walk in somewhere right before closing but It's off putting to treat your customers this way especially when you realize it was a genuine misunderstanding. Would not go back to this location. read more
I don't get the hype. I actually came here twice because I thought I ordered the wrong thing or came on an off day but I don't think I'll be trying a third time. During my first visit, I went with their seasonal soft serve swirl in a cup - I think the flavors were strawberry and black currant. Unfortunately, I felt like it was super artificial tasting and overpriced at ~$8 with no toppings, no tip included. For my most recent visit, I decided to try the brown sugar boba milk tea, which was ~$8. The drink ended up being nothing special, and service was just ok. I generally found the interior to be a sort of uninviting space, but then again I don't think hanging some snoopy plushies from the wall and putting a neon sign next to it is really my vibe. They do have a couple tables in the back if you're not taking to go, but overall it's a small space. I'm just going to chalk this one up to an overrated Insta trap. read more

kurimu is one of my favorite ice cream places, i love their diversity in their flavors! the staff is always super welcoming and kind even when the place is packed. Def try their soft serve and horchata ice cream! They had a booth at lolla and it was the perfect treat :) read more

KURIMU is my go-to dessert spot in Chicago. It's a Cali-vibe and could definitely compete with the top dessert places in Los Angeles. For those that do not know how it works -- there is a monthly rotation of 2 unique soft-serve flavors that find a way to compliment each other so well. You could get the 'swirl', which is a combination of the two soft-serves or get individual flavors. Combinations like Yuzu and Matcha hit different in the summertime heat. They do have single-scoop options of unique flavors like earl grey, sesame, taro, green tea etc. but I normally stick with the soft-serve for value. Each cone is around $7-8 but the staff normally gives a generous portion. The KURIMU location hosts different soft-serve flavors from each other. Follow or visit their Instagram page for more information on what flavors each location has at the moment. Unfortunately there are no hints on the next month's flavors but that's part of the fun. Vibe: Ample seating and wall decor/lights for aesthetics. I could come here at the end of a date and stay for 30-45 minutes. Inside of the shop is always clean and well-maintained. Service: I go in the nighttime so I cannot speak against peak-hours. However, we ALWAYS had great service. The workers are genuinely happy and take their time making the cones look picture perfect. I have no issues leaving additional tips here. Food (Drinks): The soft-serve rotations tend to be a combination of one sweet and one subtle flavor. My personal favorite was the Brazilian Passionfruit and Hokkaido Milk. It's almost been a year and I'm still itching to get it again. You get choices for a variety of toppings like matcha powder, pocky sticks, mochi, etc. but the soft-serve is always enough. No need to change the default cone unless you're trying to make it look as pretty as possible (for an extra charge). Overall Impression: 10/10 if you enjoy desserts like me this is a must-try. In my opinion, Chicago lacks a bit in the dessert department but KURIMU gives me hope for a better spots in the future. The place still pops off in the winter time! TIP: Free street parking around both locations.
