Kurimu has such good ice cream! They have interesting flavors that are done very well. I couldn't make a choice, so I ended up getting the flight! With the flight, you can't choose which flavors you get. The person working chooses what to give you. But it's okay because the person working chose the best flavors for me!! I tried: pandan, mango yuzu, black sugar boba, matcha kit kat, coconut, and vanilla. They were all very good, with either pandan or matcha being my favorite. My only complaint is this tiny flimsy piece of cardboard they give you to hold the cones. It's a super cute idea! However, it is extremely difficult to balance this and eat the ice cream. Something with just a liiiittle more structure would have been so great. Otherwise you might just need to get a bowl and spoon.

2025 Chicago. Post-lunch review. Ice cream. Ordered: Double scoop cup (came with mini cone on top): Mango sticky rice Almond cookie Overall, really well done Asian flavors. "As good as it gets."

I like the fun flavors Kurimu has (pandan, ramune, and carebear flavor which was a mix of lychee, mango, and I think ube) and the cute collaborations they do with other brands/cute cartoons (like currently, Doraemon). However, while I enjoy trying their ice cream, I don't think this is an ice cream I can have a lot of (and ultimately I wish Chicago had better ice cream options comparable to LA or NYC). Overall, this place is solid and I might get it if I'm in the area, but probably won't trek out here just to eat their ice cream.

Mango Sticky Rice x Choco Banana

Came here a few weeks ago while the Line friends collab was still in season. Got the Choco Banana and Mango Sticky Rice in a Midnight Vanilla cone. Kind of pricey for ice cream but very much worth it. Even the place is super cute, with space to sit and hang in the loft, whereas the other location in UIC is very small. My only gripe is that at the time I went with my group of friends, the guy making my ice cream gave standoffish vibes. Could be a stressful day, but even the girl working with him looking stressed was still polite and had better customer service. Also when asked about adding boba as a topping to my ice cream, he said he can put it in a cup -- whereas the UIC location, the standard is to put boba in the bottom of the cone. I didn't like his method so I didn't get boba this time. But otherwise, I love the concept of an ice cream shop showcasing Asian flavors. I wish we had one in South Florida!

Good spot for ice cream with unique flavors. My favorite is the black sesame -- rich and delicious. Service and ambiance are okay, but worth stopping by for the ice cream itself.

This is a perfect ice cream spot. The banana KitKat ice cream was amazing. My wife got the pandan coconut soft serve and she absolutely loved it. Cute vibes and great service.

I love it here. I think it's awesome that they incorporate Asian flavors. The servings are very generous. The staff is always friendly. And the ambiance is everything an instagram poster could need. My favorite is anything with taro.

I can't begin to understand why this place exists. Overpriced Asian sugary drinks with minor connection to Doraemon. Do many Chicagoans have a strong connection or nostalgia for that? Yet, there was a solid line the entire time I was there. My lychee sparkling drink was literally just lychee syrup and soda water at a ridiculous price. I will say that the place is clean and bright, but I can't imagine why I'd come there more than once. A standard boba place would be better and cheaper.

Great flavor options! The flavors are Asian inspired with Thai Tea, Milk Tea, Taro, Matcha, Mango Pomelo and more. The soft serve has been a great option in the past, but on this last visit the machine was down which limited the menu selection. Flavors were great and no overly sweet which made for an enjoyable treat. There was decent room for seating inside and Doraemon inspired decor. The service was good. We didn't wait to place our order and the employees were pleasant. I'll be back for takeaway pints!

I've only been to the Schaumburg location when the Miffy collab was going on. I was really impressed with the interior and the doraemon theme! It's hard to find Asian flavored ice cream in Chicago and I was blown away with the taste of the pandan ice cream! I hope you guys keep the pandan as a permanent flavor!

Mango Sticky Rice Miffy ice cream

A bit pricy but well worth for rotating, unique Asian flavors! The service is quick and friendly. The Miffy ice cream came out to ~$9, which is more than I was expecting, but it's Miffy so worth the splurge. I loved the whole Miffy collab theme for the shop. I got the Mango Sticky Rice flavor, which was delicious with its mochi bits. The mango wasn't super strong but still delicious! The ice cream was soft and the cone wasn't too sweet. Only -1 star because I would expect an Asian ice cream store to have at least 1 dairy-free flavor at all times. Because they didn't, the friend I came with couldn't get anything except a drink :(

Kurimu is such a cool spot -- literally and aesthetically. The neon purple lights and sleek interior make it the perfect place to snap a few pics before diving in. I got the charcoal vanilla and Harajuku strawberry swirl, and it was amazing! The charcoal vanilla had a smooth, creamy flavor with a subtle hint of smokiness, while the strawberry added the perfect fruity sweetness. Together, they were perfectly balanced and so refreshing. Definitely one of the most unique and delicious soft serves in the city!

After dining in the area on a warm day full of walking, I decided boba would be a nice way to cool…read moredown. Since I recognized the TBaar name, I figured it would be the safest option for reliable, quality boba. I visited on a Friday afternoon and the shop was surprisingly empty, with the three workers apparently excited to have someone walk in the shop. The inside area is small and there is no seating available for those wanting to casually hangout while enjoying their drinks. The area didn't seem to be the safest considering the activity witnessed outside, so it is probably best to not offer seating. Since it was warm, I ordered a large matcha smoothie (75% sugar level) with tapioca along with a large piña colada smoothie (75% sugar level). I inquired about the "white pearl" on the menu thinking it was white tapioca but it was actually agar jelly so I opted out of that; the male worker seemed annoyed when I asked and responded minimally. The drinks were ready in about five minutes. The matcha smoothie did not have a deep green color I was expecting, usually indicating the drink was diluted or watered down, and I was correct. I was aware that TBaar did not specialize in matcha, but I would've expected more matcha flavor instead of mostly tasting sugar or milk/non-dairy creamer; the 75% sugar level chosen should not affect the amount of matcha used since matcha powder should not have sugar filler. The tapioca was a little too soft for my liking and it would've been nice to have a little more in the large cup. The piña colada smoothie tasted a little better but definitely tasted like it was flavored with artificial syrup. For the River North area, TBaar is a decent option for boba. However, for better quality boba I would consider traveling outside the area, especially if a place that offers safe casual seating is preferred.

The green and white color palette immediately reminded me of Ralph's Coffee. It felt classic and polished but still charming. Everyone working there had a smile on their face, and the warmth felt so genuine and comforting, especially first thing in the morning. They had such a huge selection of pastries and cakes that it was honestly hard to choose. I ended up getting the cake shaped like a cherry because it looked so interesting. It was a black cherry cake and I paired it with a cappuccino. It was the perfect combination. The cake was beautiful and tasted just as good as it looked. We also ordered the breakfast burrito, which came with a small side salad. It was fine, but not the standout for me. If I came back, which I would, I would probably stick to the pastries and coffee and try more of their baked goods instead. Service was amazing. The ambience was adorable. I loved how all the silverware, plating, and dinnerware matched that perfect green tone. Every detail felt intentional. It was just perfect.

The food was really excellent, as was the service. But it was ridiculously priced. The reuben sandwich was $28. It was a great sandwich, very lean, but you could get a sandwich as good for half the cost elsewhere. They only have a couple of kid's items, but my friend requested buttered noodles for her kid rather than the cheesy noodles. I got the hibiscus drink and lavender lemonade, both non-alcoholic, and they were very good. My little one especially liked the hibiscus. And we ordered the appetizer of whipped ricotta and honey; my daughter liked this more than anything else we ordered. We didn't have dessert at the restaurant, but ordered to go. The pot of gold was really good. There were little "gold nuggets" on it and that was my daughter's favorite part; good thing since I didn't realize it had a layer with Bailey's in it. It was very rich, and the cauldron was really thick chocolate (and actually was a struggle to get into, a bit!). The restaurant is small but it didn't feel crowded. We never felt rushed or unwelcome, and we were there for a couple hours (longer than I realized; it took an unusually long time to make two reuben sandwiches). Their pastries are really nice but somewhat expensive, like the rest of the menu. It was a nice, sophisticated experience.
