The location was convenient. He was here approximately two weeks. The main reason to going to short-term rehab is if they need more physical therapy and occupational therapy to get stronger to be independent. Sometimes they no longer need to be in the hospital, but may be a fall risk so going to short-term rehab is a good idea. Overall, I think he had a good experience. He did receive PT and OT on most days. I believe it's six days a week. First they started him with a walker, then a cane, and then did trial him on no assist device. I also asked them to make sure he could navigate stairs. He told me the food was pretty good. Staff was attentive. Physical therapist and occupational therapist were personable and provided good therapy. Would definitely recommend this place for short-term rehab.

I had the Court Summons server deliver the message to my mother I'd been trying to see her for 6 weeks, and he told me it was the first she'd heard of it. He was disgusted too. You belong in a prison cell. I'll see you in court, lady.

During a time when our family needed support the most, everyone at Avalon treated us with kindness, compassion, and genuine concern. Over time, the staff became more than just caregivers--they truly became an extension of our family. A very special thank you to Joanne Batalon and Kiana Muneoka. They consistently went above and beyond to make sure not only that my mother was well cared for, but that our family was doing okay too. They always made time for us whenever we had questions or concerns and made sure we received answers in a timely manner. Their patience, understanding, and compassion gave us comfort and reassurance throughout our mother's stay. It means so much to know that your loved one is being cared for by people who genuinely care about them. We will always be grateful to Joanne, Kiana, and the entire Avalon Care Center Honolulu team for the kindness, support, and care they showed our mother and our family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being there for us and for treating our mother like family.

Been in and out of here two times and am currently here 9_/12/26. Both times so far they have screwed up my pain medication where I have suffered at a pain level of 9 almost 10 for over periods of 3 hrs or more. That's totally unacceptable and all nursing could say is "oh we're sorry " which to me is total bullshit. Medications are always a #1 priority, especially pain medication. The total inconsistencies of the quality of care is what makes me not recommend this place for quality skilled nursing facility. They need to improve on all levels of their business, for me to recommend them at all.

RHOP was actually a great time, everyone you encounter is nice, the exercises are hard, but they have to be and I had a really good group of people with me too, like Ms. Helen who is 101 years old and her roommate Ms. Susie who used to DOOR DASH COFFEE to her room every morning, hahahaha. RHOP taught me everything I needed to know to survive at home during my long recovery period between a wheelchair and a walker and I use what they taught me daily. I am 100% sure I would not be as mobile as I am now this soon after surgery if I hadn't gone to them, in fact, some of what I was shown or learned there are integral to moving around. The only mark I have against them, the only warning. If you get to the point where you can venture out of your room and roll around the facility do not leave anything on your bed. On my first day out of my room I got a collared shirt from the gift shop which was then taken by the linen service provider by accident a few days later and I never saw it again. I was told this has also happened with cellphones. They will take the chance to do up your bed when you are not in it so make sure all of your stuff is put away, because whoever does the laundry just bags and tags everything wholesale. I hope I never have to go back here, but if I do it's going to be a good time.

As a medical mfg.sales rep. I had the honor and pleasure of meeting "Geo" their very polite super cordial DON (Director of Nursing). She took the time out of her busy schedule to meet, greet and briefly explain the facilities residence service availibilty options and offered me the tour. This facility used to be former LTC Island Nursing Home, although several years ago the owners here decided to up & close it's doors permanently. Hence the slight spin in their new name-Island "Skilled" Nursing name. The new owners took the time to remodel this former nursing home to look and feel like a new millinium modern 2 story domestic home. The outer building shell recieved a nice new paint job and the interior, WOW! Being totally renovated to look modern with a clean well lighted open feel and appearance. They have 2 floors aporox 40 beds with the 1st floor dedicated to Respiratory-Tracheostomy and Ventalator residence who require 24/7 loving care and attention. The 2nd floor is their SNF wing, PT, and kitchen. FWith the shortage of available vacancies here in Hi. this remodeled nursing home away from home for our aging population will no doubt be commited to providing the care and compassion in a home away from home setting that is centrally located in Honolulu. The only drawback is the parking garage where guest parking is far & few between. You may need to hope and pray you get lucky to be able to find street parking on Alexander St. should the lot be full. LOL...

Then, 40 minutes later she's no where in sight. My cousin is starving so we tell him to press the call button. It take 10 minutes before the nurse responds. She tries the soda and can't clear the tube still. Then she leaves and says she's going to look for another nurse. The other nurse came at about 6:15. She cleared the tube and did my cousins medicine. The second nurse says that the other nurse will be back to clean his throat tube thing- my cousin looked at me and made the sign of the cross. No one should feel like that about the care they're getting. To top it off his mouth piece falls on the ground. Instead of cleaning it before giving it to him, the initial nurse (the one that couldn't clear the tube). just gives it to him and leaves. Who does that?! You wouldn't give your child something to put in its mouth from a hospital ground so why would you give someone who is immune compromised something that fell on the ground. Be assured I'm making a formal complaint and visiting more often. I'm appalled.
