Came here for dinner last night after my friend raved about their ramen. Upon entering at 9 pm it was quite empty. Very large establishment with a see thru kitchen. We were sat incredibly quickly and provided menus. As many reviews have stated, the menu items are quite expansive. You will see Chinese and Japanese food items. We ordered tea and pork gyoza for starters. We also ordered ramen. I did the spicy miso and she requested beef noodles. The server was friendly but definitely took a bit long to bring the food or check in on us. At one point we got our entree before the appetizer. She forgot to put it in. It wasn't horrible but the service could use some improvement to better tend to the customers. Wasn't anything huge to ruin the night but as a visitor from out of town, it was quite noticeable. I really liked this place when it first opened (different owners maybe?) and it's really disappointing now. My take out order was awful. Pad Thai had no sauce or flavor, my "lobster" sushi was actually crab stick and hibachi was gross. Spent $100 on take out and only ate maybe half. Will not be back. read more

Tried the all you can eat sushi last evening. Ordered spring rolls, a spicy yellow tail roll, and something called shi mai. They came promptly and was good to O.K. I then ordered Mackerel and red snapper from the sushi menu expecting 3 or 4 pieces each. It took almost 30 mins to come and only one piece each. When I asked they said for the all you can eat menu we only bring one piece. So i ordered about 8 or 9 different types of sushi next. They brought 4 pieces and took 40 mins. I was with my sister and her husband who were long done by now with regular menu choices and i wouldn't ask them to stay longer to wait for me to get more sushi. This cost $33. We were ther at 5p and left a few minutes after 7p. Feel intentionally cheated. read more

This is our fourth time that we've been there. Three times for early dinner and the most recent was for lunch. And we just found out that they offered all you can eat sushi on Mondays and Tuesday. We took advantage of the offer. The first time tried, our eyes were speaking for our stomach.. lol which was great. The second time we tried the all you can. We loved it!! The place was welcoming and love the decor. Wait staff and hostess were friendly. Overall anything you want to try is delicious. read more

Stopped into Kung Fu Kitchen in North Smithfield for lunch today and had a really solid experience overall. We ordered sushi along with a few appetizers, and everything came out beautifully plated -- definitely a place that puts effort into presentation. The sushi itself was very good. I wouldn't say it was the absolute best I've ever had, but it's right up there with some of the better spots around. The building itself is actually really nice -- modern, clean, and well put together. My only real gripe is the atmosphere felt a little too dark because of all the bamboo shades covering the windows. I get the vibe they're going for, but honestly, North Smithfield isn't exactly Times Square... I'd rather be able to see outside than stare at covered windows. Lightening it up a bit would really improve the dining experience. Drinks were just okay -- a bit of a letdown that they don't carry Coke products, but not a dealbreaker. Overall, a great lunch spot with quality sushi, nice presentation, and a cool space -- just a couple small tweaks away from being even better. I'd definitely come back. read more

Ichiraku Ramen & Fusion has opened another location at Dowling Village in North Smithfield, next to CVS. This casual sitdown restaurant offers Japanese fusion cuisine, sushi bar and a full service bar. There is seating in the dining areas with booths and tables and high chairs at the bar. I stopped by Ichiraku in North Smithfield for lunch recently, I was promptly seated at a table in the dining room near the few other diners with one server in the dining area. I ordered the Salmon Hibachi Lunch ($14 plus tax) with a salad and an ice water. I saw the other lunch specials with good portions being served to the customers next to me which looked very good including the Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura Bento Box, Pad Thai Noodles, and Steak Hibachi Lunch. My salad came out first which had leaf lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and a creamy yum yum dressing. My entree arrived shortly after I finished the salad. The big plate of food had a long piece of grilled salmon filet (with edge skin) smothered in a tangy teriyaki sauce, served with fried rice (egg, peas, carrot, corn) and mixed teriyaki vegetables (zucchini, peppers) topped with sesame seeds. The food was hot and fresh and I actually got a to go box to box up half the food. The check came out to $15.12 with tax and before tip. Second visit, we avoided the ramen. The sushi was good and the service got better. Third visit, the service was great. The food was bad. The chicken wings advertised as lemongrass and oyster sauce but it was just plain Chinese restaurant style fried wings. Sushi came wrong where we ordered cooked but receive raw and we kindly told the female manager we order the same sushi every time we come here and this isn't the one we ordered. Long story short, she tried to persuade us that we don't know sushi. Long story short, we had it removed from the bill and will not return ever! It was good until you're told you don't know what you ordered. I know what I'm ordering next time---nothing!! read more

Place looks great and finally decided to give it try. I tend to go for the basic dishes, Ordered the Spicy tuna and one of the signature rolls. Taste fresh and good. Drinks went with a mojito, mint was fresh and unfortunately mint was not washed before hand and limes were turning yellow. Big red flag. Main dish was a very traditional dish. Ordered a bowl of pho. The soup was so bland. Told the server and sent the pho back very disappointing. Service wise, employees were nice and attentive. Towards the end, bunch of fruit flies were everywhere in the restaurant. Over all my experience in the restaurant was not the best but not the worst. read more

I wanted to like this place, because their menu has a large selection of offerings. But this place is just not it. We used to order from Ichiraku, which this place took over from a couple of months ago, so we were expecting at least the same caliber of quality. What we got was just not good. We ordered the pineapple fried rice, spicy chicken wings, and duck sliders. I was fairly excited about the duck sliders which were bao buns. Unfortunately what I got was pretty inedible - just the fatty pieces and skin with very little duck meat. The bao bun was perfectly soft and pillowy, but the duck had not been well rendered and was chewy and the only flavor came the hoisin sauce. They really need to check which pieces of duck they're putting in the sliders before they sell them to people. The pineapple fried rice was so strange, it had raisins and cashews in it, and looked more like a Spanish yellow rice than a traditional Asian pineapple fried rice. Without the fruit in it, the rice was otherwise tasteless. We had to add a lot of our own condiments to make it worth eating. My husband also did not enjoy the spicy wings - they were well fried, but again lacking in what we were expecting in flavor, which is inherently odd because it came with a lot of jalapenos and spices. The staff, though, upon pick up, were friendly, so that raises them from one star to two. Not sure whether we will give this another try, probably not. read more

Ordered takeout. Got home and saw they had forgotten a sushi roll from the order. I called to see about having it refunded as I wasn't able to go back there - they acknowledged the missing item right away and the only options they could give was a credit for the amount that they'd make note of for my "next order" or a refund, but for the refund I would have to come back in person (no plans to be near there any time soon). The manager was next to the employee telling them what to say the whole time we were talking but would not get on the phone himself- I felt bad for the employee. We were a party of 5 and made a good choice by making reservations for 6:30pm. The restaurant was very busy. Being a newly opened restaurant, it appeared that they were short of staff and working out some of the bugs. We were very patient with the waitress and orders coming out. Our waitress, Lisa, was excellent. She was one of the most attentive and pleasant server I have ever had. The food was good but she is the reason that we will return. read more

This was our first time at the Kung Fu Kitchen. We came for a late lunch. It wasn't what I had expected. We were quickly greeted and brought to a nice table. I always look around to observe the cleanliness of any place I eat at and this place was super clean, large and very nicely decorated. My son told me it was a ramen shop but upon seeing the menu I was delighted to see that it's much more than that. I order two sushi rolls and pork gyozas to share and wonton soup to go home with. My son ordered his Ramen soup which by the way, looked epic and judging by the way he finished that bowl up, outstanding in the flavor department. My first sushi roll came out and I quickly started to enjoy it. More than half way through my sushi roll our waiter approached the table and explained he had given me the wrong sushi roll and that he would comp it and bring my original order of sushi. Truly, I wouldn't have notice because I was hunger and in conversation enjoying the tasty sushi in front of me. Here's the thing. The sincere honesty from our waiter moved me. With all the nastiness in the world today it gives a very good feeling that there are still many great people in the world. It's moments like that the sun really shine in. So not only did I have a delicious lunch yesterday and I found a new place to eat, I had a ray of sunshine come through my life via one person's honesty and integrity. I've had Ichiraku a few times it was good ramen and sushi. today i tried one of my favorite things ever which is takoyaki i wouldnt recommend ordering it here the sizes are extremely small compared to authentic size. not worth $8. flavor is not bad but its not authentic takoyaki taste. its missing the tempura flakes which is a famous takoyaki ingredient. it came with lettuce which is strange. takoyaki doesn't come with lettuce. read more

Went out for a drink and some appetizers. Our servers Aijah + Vasanah were amazing! They were very attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and very friendly. It was a pretty busy night and these girls were running the entire restaurant. Great service. Food was excellent. We had the gyoza, shrimp shumai, and sushi pizza with tuna. Everything was great! The food was very good. It is a new restaurant, and they do need to work on a few things to make it better. The location in Dowling Village is a good spot with plenty of parking. The menu has many offerings. However, the red print on the black background on the menu makes it difficult to read the headings. The paper menus will not last long, that a hard bound booklet would be better. We were three, and all meals and appetizers were very good. The real problem is the service. The server had no personality. When food came, she just placed it on the table. She never came by to ask how we liked it. As well, she never offered us the opportunity to order more drinks. The management needs to work with the servers to be more personable and be proactive with the diners. read more
