I went all in: gyoza, pork belly steamed buns, and Tonkotsu Ramen -- and every single bite was absolutely unreal. The gyoza came out perfectly pan-seared -- crispy on the bottom, tender on top, and packed with flavor. That dipping sauce had just the right balance of salty, tangy, and savory. You could easily crush two orders without trying. The pork belly steamed buns were next-level. Soft, pillowy buns wrapped around rich, melt-in-your-mouth pork belly. The balance of fat, sweetness, and sauce was perfect. Messy in the best possible way. And then the star -- the Tonkotsu Ramen. The broth was deep, creamy, and packed with flavor -- that slow-simmered richness that tells you it was done right. The noodles had the perfect bite, and the pork was tender and seasoned beautifully. When walking in you are greeted with a gorgeous atmosphere that gives off a sushi bar type vibe. The service is super quick, especially because it is Ramen. But they were also fairly quick with the appetizers that we tried. The barbecue tofu was surprisingly delicious with a great texture and yummy sauce. The Gyoza was also a fan favorite with a light crispy bottom and a good filling. We tried two different ramens with two different proteins. The beef was a bit, tough and dry, but the chashu was nice and soft like melting in your mouth. The broth was also good and the noodles were nice and thin. We were all pleasantly surprised with positive experience at Kujira. Our group was relatively large and they took good care of us. One of us found an egg missing from his ramen and ended up getting two - that, in my book, is righting the wrongs! Besides ramen, we also tried the fried rice and it was my favorite dish of the night. Very flavorful (even more so than the ramen if I do get to say so!) I ordered it with kobe beef. The Pepper Tuna Tataki appetizer was ok, if you like crispy edges and lots of peppers. Half of the group had the most fun sharing a plate of Fried Shishito and see who got hit more than every-1-in-10. That said, the peppers are blistered to perfection, and even if you missed out on the heat, they serve the pepper doused in spicy seasoning so you are bound to get some kick no matter what. In the area for an appointment I was looking for a place to grab lunch with my friend and this was it. Located in a small shopping plaza, the parking can be a bit weird but there's plenty of spots. No reservation is needed. When my friend and I walked in, we were immediately greeted and walked to our table. I loved the spacious dining room setting. Our waitress promptly took our order. We both settled on the spicy pork tonkotsu ramen. For an appetizer, I highly recommend ordering the soup dumplings. They are made fresh to order and are absolutely amazing. This used to be our go to place for sushi, but we recently noticed they started skimping on the amount of fish they put into their sushi, and began using tempura flakes as filler on their items, even when it doesn't call for it (I.e. spicy tuna roll, salmon lovers roll). This is a huge no-no for the Gluten Free crowd. Separately, the service has gone down hill. From your time of your arrival to getting the check, servers act like you're an inconvenience. Rating again after going in to eat in person. This is worth the extra stop for so many reasons - they have an upcharge on their online ordering, whereas if you go in, you're paying at least $2 less per entree based on what we saw. We were sat immediately in the cozy round dining room that was pretty full considering if was 2:30pm, and our server brought us waters and asked for our drink orders and food orders at the same time. We each got a beer and asked for a minute while we looked through the menu. We ordered the shrimp tempura roll, chili pork ramen mild and spicy chicken ramen mild. The food came out very quickly and was absolutely delicious and full of rich, hearty flavor! I have a good heat tolerance and was still happy I went with mild since it still had quite a kick. We each had plenty leftover for at least two more meals each. The shrimp tempura was crispy and fresh, and our beers were nice and cold out of the bottle. They definitely try to rush you out once you're done, but overall, we had a fantastic time when it came to the food and the (incredibly speedy) service. read more

Great little spot and looked fairly small walking up but once inside this place really opens up. Great modern vibe to the place. Service was over the top and the people who work here are so nice and friendly. For food I started with the chicken karaje with spicy mayo this was so good! For main course I have the spicy beef shoyu ramen with added pork belly. This ramen was a 5 out of 5. The pork belly was one of the better I have ever had. We over ordered our first visit and discovered generous portions of delicious and fresh food, brought out quickly. First, we tried their kara-age, served on a bed of red onion (wow that's a great choice!) and mixed greens, the pieces were the perfect mixture of sizes, with consistency and flavor in the batter. Next came the Tuna Tataki, served just above room temperature with the perfect seasoning blend rubbed into the quickly seared tuna. The texture was perfect, the cuts appropriately thin and small. Next, our yellowtail sashimi, Japanese Cold Noodles with Shrimp, Shrimp Tempura Roll and Crazy Boy Roll (Tempura fried California roll with eel sauce and sriracha mayo) all arrived in quick succession, as if the very moment we finished ordering the chefs went to work masterfully preparing for us to be overwhelmed with pleasant variety and presentation above average. I'd go on about the wonderfully cut fresh vegetables, perfectly grilled and seasoned shrimp, cashews, and fresh ramen base of the Cold Noodles, but my stomach is so full I can hardly focus on it or our other dishes now. The two pieces of Sashimi were large, well cut, and that melt in your mouth you always hope for with every bite. Shortly there after, the last of our order arrived, a Yellowtail Jalapeño appetizer drizzled with sriracha. It wasn't the typical presentation we were used to, but it definitely hit the spot. Normally, I'm off-put by sriracha on sashimi, but with the cut they used, or maybe the sriracha they used, it somehow fit. We did our best to finish as much of our order as possible, but given the generous portions, we left with two small containers. The decor was minimal but excellent, we especially appreciated the screens in the windows, the wood decor, and the artwork throughout. The service was great with one minor hiccup, when the restaurant filled quickly near the end of our visit, we did wait a bit for our bill, can't fault them for that. If I were rating it just on these factors, then it's a no brainer 5/5. However, there were two parts that made me rethink my 5/5 and downgrade to a 4/5. The egg in the soup was completely cold and the egg white portion of the egg was kind of liquified and floating in the broth a bit. It made me think maybe they took it out of the fridge and just dropped it in there. The yolk was completely cold when I ate into it and I've never experienced that before. Next, the pork buns. It had some flavor, but not a lot. The bun itself lacked some sugary residues I'm used to and the pork itself didn't have a lot of sauce or flavor on it. So, While I enjoyed the texture and tenderness, it just didn't have the flavor I'm used to tasting. That's really all. The price was in the right place for the entire meal and the food overall was really good. My coworker/friend and I decided to go check out Kujira for lunch. This is both our first time here. As soon as we walked in, I noticed right away the ambiance of the dining area. It's very cool looking. We both decided to check out their popular ramen dish, of course. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and my friend ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen. A friend and I ventured up to Ft. Collins to have a fun day together. Since he knows I'm a ramen fiend, he suggested Kujira. After checking out the reviews and photos on my favorite review site (yep, you guessed it. Yelp!) I was down to give it a try. I'm so glad we did! On our way to the restaurant, we called to make reservations, but they don't take reservations. We were expecting kind of a wait but ended up walking right in and grabbing a table. This was on a Sunday at 1:30pm. We both ordered hot tea, and they brought out a really fancy glass pitcher of hot water, some honey, and a little box with all sorts of Yamamotoyama teas. I love this brand of tea! I had the Genmatcha Green Tea, and my friend chose the Genmai-Cha Green Tea. For appetizers, we ordered the Shishito Peppers and the Takoyaki. Both were great. The Shishito Peppers were a bit crunchy for my liking, I like mine a little more blistered and cooked through. The Takoyaki was delicious. I ordered the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen and added bamboo shoots. I selected mild spice (because I read in reviews that the bowl was too-hot-to-handle for some), and it was not spicy at all. Total mistake on my part because I usually order medium spice. Next time (because there will be a next time), I will totally get medium spice. The broth tasted authentic, rich, and dreamy. The noodles had a pleasant texture and consistency. The egg was super soft, it seemed lightly poached. I prefer mine ramen-egg style where it's medium boiled in the shell and peeled. The food was filling and delicious. The restaurant was cute and felt authentic. The service was a bit lacking, as stated in other reviews. The plastic dishes were well-used and chipped. They could use an upgrade. SPACE: I really love the space. It feels a bit like a street market. If a street market came with pictures of cats eating ramen. There's a great deal of light from the large windows, and a large range of seating ensures they can accommodate any size group that comes in. SIPS: They offer the usual variety of soda, some Japanese sodas, and Japanese beers. Given that we were there during work hours, we all opted for regular sodas. SUSTENANCE: After browsing the menu, I chose to nosh on my tried and true personal favorite - spicy tonkatsu ramen. How can you go wrong with spicy white shoyu broth, pork belly, bean sprouts, mushroom, scallions, and a soft egg? Trick question, because you can't. It was delicious. The broth was rich and creamy, the pork belly was tender, the egg was soft-boiled to perfection. SERVICE: The service was alright. Our server gave us time to browse the menu and checked back with us once to ensure we were enjoying our meals. While my time working up north is over for now, I can safely say Kujira Ramen was a solid spot to get our ramen on. This restaurant was such a find for us during our recent visit to Fort Collins. The food is so fresh and delicious. We enjoy Raman so are always looking for places offering Raman. The service was friendly and efficient. The waitstaff were attentive and helpful. We were thanked for visiting the restaurant not only by the waitstaff but one of the chefs as well when we were leaving after our delicious meal. We shared an order of the fried dumplings. They were frankly the best I've had with wrappers so delicate and filling carefully made. I had the cold chicken Japanese Raman. The serving size was generous giving me double the pleasure of the food, once at the restaurant and a day or so later for dinner. The ambiance is relaxing with thoughtful with culturally specific art and fixtures. We could have eaten outside but so enjoyed the experience dining inside. We will definitely visit Kujira again. Simply put, The food and customer service here are consistent in excellence. Service: We've eaten here 4x now (all carry-out because it's always so busy and full inside). We've never taken the opportunity to dine in just because the wait for our large family of 8 is typically a long wait; but the call-ahead-carry-out is always 20mins and we live 30mins away. The drive is always worth it. Upon arrival, our food is always waiting for us, hot and fresh, on the counter in strong carry-out containers. They always get our order right, but have forgotten once to give us utensils (no biggie), we noticed right away and they were able to give us plenty. Food: We've tried every Ramen on the menu and we love all of them. The flavors are perfect. The broth is never too salty or under flavored, the meats are always tender. The spicy ramen has got some kick and will make man sweat from the spicy heat in a glorious way. Eggs in ramen are poached nicely, veggies in ramen are always fresh and crispy. Their Ramen is nothing short of excellence. We've ordered just about everything on the kids-size menu and our kids tell us that the food is never too greasy and always finger licking good. The portions are generous too. I've said enough and you've read enough. The only negative thing I can say about this place is that the dining hall is relatively small and not conducive for large parties. (The Carry-out service greatly compensates for it!) This is a Ramin restaurant, that also serves sushi in the southern part of Fort Collins and some of the better Ramin restaurants that I have been to in the Denver area. The menu is pretty diverse with Ramin entrées, sushi, and a lot of appetizers. They also have a large selection of beers wines And Asian sodas and sake's. I got the Tonkotsu Ramin with pork and it comes with a soft poached egg, which was very good. The customer service is very good and you have multiple waiters taking care of your table or at the bar.
