At the bottom of the page, it was clear that if we didn't finish the food, we would have gotten charged per roll that we didn't finish. We ate a couple pieces of a roll we couldn't eat and then asked for the check and a Togo box. They said they couldn't give us a box because it's all you can eat... but they charged us full price??? Unfortunately, idk what happened this time but the service was incredibly bad. Like so bad I didn't want to leave a tip at all which I never do as I used to be in the industry myself. However, the service was terrible from start to finish and the sushi didn't make up for it at all. We sat down and no joke it took almost 20mins to have a server come by. I almost got up and walked out. Other tables that walked in after us were greeted right away and I guess we were just forgot about. Their orders were of course put in before us and we had to wait even longer for our food. Then, there was zero apology when we were finally greeted. Once the food finally came out we were never checked on. We had to flag our server down anytime we needed something even though she kept checking on and grabbing things for other tables. Then, the sushi was bland so I asked for a side of eel sauce and spicy mayo. We waited and waited and then she comes back to say she forgot. Ok no big deal. I tell her what I want again. She comes back to say she can't give me spicy mayo because they're low (no wonder my rolls were so bland) and gives me the eel sauce. I taste the eel sauce and it is NOT eel sauce. We spend another 10-15mins trying to get her attention to tell her. Finally a busser comes by and we asked them instead to give us actual eel sauce. Waited forever. Basically zero service. My sushi was bland, then it got cold waiting for service. It was just an awful experience which is sad because this used to be my favorite place. We didn't even bother ordering anymore food because we were such disbelief at the horrible service. I committed the cardinal Yelp sin and didn't take a single picture of our food. Don't worry, though, I'll be back often to eat more of these delicious rolls and be catered to by the wonderful staff and equally wonderful expo robot. We went on a Sunday evening and walked into the unassuming section of the strip mall where White Tree is located. Walking through the doors transports you to what could best be described as your grandmother's cozy living room complete with soft white couches, plants and vines surrounding the shelving and a crackling (fake) fireplace by the front door. We were seated immediately and started with some miso soup to warm up. The service was incredibly fast, and our two rolls we ordered (sweet potato and the dragon roll) were delivered by the expo robot. My husband was unfortunately washing his hands a missed the delivery, so we decided to get green tea mochi for dessert after scarfing down the perfectly flavored and tender rolls so he could witness the bot-delivery. The sweet potato roll was wonderfully crispy with the tempura coating while being perfectly tender, and the slight tang from the cream cheese was a nice touch and didn't overwhelm the taste of the whole roll. I waited 80 minutes for one order of salmon sashimi. 80 minutes. I waited for 20 minutes upon arrival before even being greeted. I felt like I was being ignored. I felt treated like a second-class citizen. When the server finally had time to greet me, she was very pleasant. It's clear she recognizes that the situation is unfair to customers. I have seen the level of customer service fall every single time I have visited over the past several years. They'd rather pay for robots than humans to actually provide guest service. Less gray fatty parts on the fish, though it was still there and I do really believe I'd like just a little fish on my nigiri rather than a decent amount including that gray, metallic tasting area. The calamari was incredible, service was kind and energetic, and the chefs greeted everyone that entered very kindly! It did take a decent amount of time for the food to come out, but the restaurant was near full so it was understandable. The place looks wonderful, and everything is very well decorated. After spending nearly a year in Korea and a short time in Japan, I have spent many months and a lot of money trying to find a quality sushi house. THIS is the place. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is usually quiet and calm. Something that will stand out in sure is that there is a literal robot that drives around and delivers your food. This isn't commonplace in the US but is normal overseas. Fun to see something like that again. If you want quality, fresh nigiri, sashimi, and temake then this is your place. Plan at least 1.5 hours here and make a reservation as it fills up quick and there's typically only 1 server, maybe 2 besides the robot. read more

At first glance white tree is a charming local restaurant, but this romantic impromptu date night out turned into a series of disregarded red flags that culminated in violent diarrhea. Red flag # 1: The robot that brings your food out looks like it has not ever been cleaned. It felt almost dystopian. It is intriguing rolling up to your table, but upon closer inspection it is impossible to ignore the smeared fingerprints and grease from a thousand nights of unpaid automated labor. When it announced the arrival of our food in tones of programmed cheerfullness, I was tempted to shake it and ask "you good bro?" Red flag #2: For a place that has one entire menu dedicated to sushi, and their other menu to Japanese entrees, the spelling "Japaneese" belies their authenticity. I am not a spelling snob. Who cares if the food is good, right? But 48 hours later as I clung to the toilet for dear life and contemplated all the choices that let me to my current predicament, "Japaneese mayo" no longer seemed so innocuous. Red flag #3: The restaurant was almost empty on a Friday night. The food: First, we got a tempura sweet potato appetizer. When the filthy machine arrived toting it upon its acquiescent head platter, I was taken aback. Presented before us were three of the thinnest slivers of fried sweet potato, dare I say Japaneese chips, that i have ever beheld. They were so thin that if you tilted your head to the side they were in danger of disappearing. I was still open minded and determined to have a fantastic dining experience. I also could not comprehend a world in which one sixteenth of a potato could be presented in such high esteem and cost so much unless it was prepared with the upmost tender love and devotion and tasted like an angel's kiss. Alas, they were three woefully underseasoned slivers of fried starch served with a side of fish flavored dipping water. I've eaten day-old French fries fished out of the crack between my driver's seat and center console that tasted better. If you think I'm being hyperbolic, wait till you hear about the miso soup. "I am fighting the urge to scream," was my usually calm boyfriend's response to the miso soup. I followed the line of his gaze to the egg floating in the miso broth. We had paid extra for it because the miso soup does not come with that. Even a fool could see this egg was abused. Not quite scrambled, yet also somehow over boiled, there were unappetizing white and yellow clumps of something that must have once been tasty delight. I don't even know how one would go about doing that to an egg. It was not the pillowy stringy delights of egg drop soup, nor the melting treasure of a soft boiled egg. It was akin to curdled rubber. Only some special form of incompetence and apathy could achieve this. When the waiter came back to ask how every thing was, I responded semi candidly (I did not flip the table) and very politely, "everything is okay but what is up with this egg?" He returned from the kitchen with a stammered explanation "the cook said some Asian cultures cook eggs this way". The final culinary tragedy was a specialty roll. I cannot remember exactly what we ordered, except that it looked pretty when it came out, and yet I believe it was the final straw on my digestive integrity. Have you ever eaten something so bland that you wonder whether you should get tested for Covid? Again, I was almost bewildered at how one would go about turning all those delicious ingredients into something that was nearly flavorless. I say nearly, because the overriding flavor I could discern was tuna on the edge of turning. After two pieces, I knew I would regret this meal and left the roll unfinished. It is a mark of poor management that the cook and/or manager had every opportunity to make things right, to come out and talk to us, but instead they chose to send out the nervous student waiter to spin some half-baked explanation about Asian cultures. Reminder: the restaurant was almost completely deserted on a Friday night. The cook/manager was not swamped by orders. A day later I was racked with incredible nausea. I went to bed with a trash can next to the bed just in case, and woke up at 1 am barely making it to the bathroom. Diarrhea is a polite term for it. My boyfriend was also sick. If you like fake white trees, gimmicky robots, and paying $60-100 for bland food, bad attitude and a watery caboose then white tree is the restaurant for you. I'm shocked at the high ratings of this place. You could not pay me to eat here again. read more

Blatantly dishonest. If you had asked me before today what my go-to sushi spot in town was, I'd say it was this place but their blatant dishonesty has really soured my opinion on this restaurant. Today I ordered takeout to celebrate the birth of my son and finally getting some sushi for my wife. We ordered takeout-- order placed at 7:21pm, estimated to be ready at 8:01pm. I arrive at 8pm and I'm met by a lady that says it'll take just a little longer. No big deal, so I take a seat. I hear her go around and interact with other diners and she seems really friendly, overhear a conversation that reveals she's the previous owners daughter. Time goes by and I don't hear anything. I continue waiting and waiting without any updates. By now the time is 8:40pm and no one has even bothered to give me an update. I finally get up and ask the same lady for an update. "Oh are you here for pickup?" (Okay, so she clearly forgot I was waiting, strike one.) I tell her I've been here and just wanted an update, she hurries back to the kitchen and picks up a bag of food, calls over to the other cooks as asks them how long the order had been ready, I hear him "about an hour." (Stike two) She responds, "an hour?!" At this point another gentleman comes out from the back and says that my order will be ready soon because the host didn't know I had arrived. She comes back out, hands me my food and tells me to have a good night. I hesitate, "is this safe? I feel like it's been sitting out for a while." She responds "no, it's only been sitting for about 10 to 15 minutes. (Strike three). I wanted to tell her I literally heard them talking in the back but being unconfrontational, I decided I just wanted to get out of there. Maybe just be honest next time or offer a voucher or SOMETHING if for no other reason than forgetting I was there for 40 minutes. Very disappointed and honestly, pissed. Incredible food! I got the $17 lunch special with the Monster Shrimp roll, and I got the CSU roll ($17) on top of it. Lunch special came out with one specialty roll, five pieces nigiri (sake, maguro, ebi, hamachi, and ika), miso soup, and crispy sweet potato fries. The miso soup, admittedly, is VERY salty and I had to drown out all the salt by downing all my water, but that aside, everything else was delicious and well worth how much I spent. I spent $44 after tip--very reasonable price for the amount of food I got. I'll be back definitely to try the other rolls there are! read more

4.5 stars for me. So this has to be one of the most comforting and surprising restaurants to ever be found in a strip mall. From the homemade art in frames to the chalk board and piano it is a welcoming environment for a date or meeting friends. Plus, you may get a taste of the future with their robotic waiter delivering sushi plates. I had the bulgogi hot pot with the burnt rice (on purpose from the cast iron hot pot) and it was tasty. Maybe not the best I've had but good. Plus it was smaller than expected - though to be fair, I was warned. Its maybe the best fish quality in Fort Collins! The rolls are robust enough for me. Improvable: speed of which the sushi comes out... and the quality of the various soy sauces. For gluten free they used what tasted like a coconut amino instead of a gluten free tamari. The brand does matter... if you're going the distance to make such elegant food, you won't want a smokey tasting soy sauce... so bring your own tamari. You can make this place a five star if you bring your own soy sauce, and schedule lots of time to dine (hey whats the rush?). The ramen is great! A member of my table had that, and it came out fast. This place used to be good, but I think the 4.3 stars that it currently has is deceiving. They served spoiled salmon to us for takeout. When we took the sushi out of the container, it emitted a strong rotten odor. We called the place to let them know it was rotten, and they insisted that we return to the restaurant with the sushi if we want a refund. My partner and her mom brought the sushi back to White Tree, and apparently the manager kept sniffing the sushi over and over, while mumbling about how the restaurant has been scammed before. They also claimed that the salmon couldn't be rotten because they'd been serving it to other customers--that logic doesn't really check out to me. Either way, I hope all of these other customers are safe and well after consuming rotten sushi. Anyway, the closest thing to a refund that we ended up getting was the manager reluctantly handing my partner's mom eight crumpled dollar bills for her trouble. Needless to say, we won't be returning to White Tree, and I recommend that you stay away if you care about your health. read more

We ordered a platter of sushi that was ready for pickup at 8pm and every roll looked as if a toddler had put them together. Each individual piece of sushi completely fell apart and therefore had a ruined mouthfeel. Most rolls had good flavor but the texture and look of every roll was horrible. I spent almost $100 here for really sub-par sushi and am very disappointed. We were also made to wait until 8pm (50 minutes) for sushi that we could tell was premade earlier in the night or had been made with old, too-dry rice. Just an overall disappointment. I wanted to try out White Tree given their menu and another Japanese/sushi option in Fort Collins. I ordered online to take it to-go. I can only speak for the vegetarian items that I ordered which was an avocado roll, tofu tempura appetizer, and bibimbap with tofu. Ordering online was easy and estimated time for when food would be completed was accurate. Upon arrival, White Tree does now have dining inside so there were patrons but staff was very kind and respectful of COVID-19 protocols. Now, on to the food. Avocado roll (priced at $7) was solid for my expectations of sushi. The tofu tempura appetizer was really what amounted to a pointless purchase on my part. I believe priced at $5.95 but it is just a block of tofu. If it's meant to be shared, it's a bit bizarre and price point quite high given for my bibimbap, adding tofu was a $1 and amounted to the same amount of tofu. Bibimbap was good ($13) - vegetables were fresh and sauce add to rice enjoyable and everything complemented itself well. I am really glad I made the decision for the extra tofu for $1. A lot of tofu was provided and the bibimbap with that makes for a yummy, filling meal. Ultimately, I do think this is an ideal place if you are into sushi and not a vegetarian like myself as people appear to love it. As a vegetarian, the options are still enjoyable and doable when eating with another individual who is a sushi lover. The restaurant is located in the King Soopers shopping plaza on Taft Hill. Usually shopping plaza restaurants can be odd on the inside but the decor of White Tree is quite charming. I would consider returning again when I feel comfortable eating inside for what would amount to a nice, quiet, perhaps even romantic meal with my significant other. read more

Was not disappointed with a single thing this place had to offer. Down to the miso soup. Never really knew about it since it's pretty tucked away off of Taft Hill- glad we finally found it and tried it out. For a sushi restaurant it's very nicely decorated on the inside. We had the entire place to ourselves today which was lovely. The waitress was sweet and attentive. We started with some Mandu which were perfectly cooked, golden brown, and crispy. We then had miso soup served to us which was frankly some of the best in the area- weird thing to point out, but it was! One of my favorite things about White Tree was their shrimp tempura. It's much different from other sushi restaurants. It wasn't flaky and bland. It really had a lot of flavor from the tempura. For sushi we ordered a Beef Roll, Super Dragon Roll (without the eel), and a crunch roll. The beef roll was my husbands favorite- he still won't stop talking about it. It's the perfect balance of beef, and shrimp. The Super Dragon roll was also yummy. I'm sure it would have been tastier with the eel, but we were unsure about it. My favorite was the crunch roll- basic, I know, but the cream cheese and avocado added such a great freshness to the roll and the sauce on top was the perfect kick! My father and I have been coming here for a few years, it's always been our favorite in town. A nice little, unassuming spot in a strip mall. The owner (not sure if he still is) was very nice. We went in just a couple days ago and it has completely changed. They re-did the decor and it looks great! But we walked in with a family of four right ahead of us. Even with only a couple tables filled in the restaurant, it took them 15 minutes to sit us. We didn't understand why. Then after we were seated, the service was slow. Granted, the service has always been slow as they normally only keep one server for the entire restaurant. We've never minded before, because the food has always been excellent. The food was subpar this time and a huge disappointment. We ordered sashimi - tuna, salmon, albacore and yellowtail. The salmon and albacore was great, the tuna and yellowtail was gross. tTuna was grocery store sushi at best, tasteless and bad texture. Yellowtail was inedible. Not the quality we expect. The rolls we ordered were good but far too much rice making them too big. We prefer quality or quantity and they failed. We are unsure if they are under new management or what has changed, but we will be seeking a new sushi spot in Fort Collins. read more

We went here specifically to get sushi and we chose it based upon the high Yelp and Google reviews. We didn't even know it was here (it's tucked back in the corner of the center). It was Thursday evening. The was ample parking and it wasn't overly crowded. They greeted and sat us quickly. When we walked in we noticed the smell of fried food. I think we both looked at each other and became a bit skeptical. They have great menu of many other dishes besides sushi. We ordered drinks. I had an Asian beer and Kennedy had the house white wine. The waiter suggested the beer (I'd never had it) and it was quite good as was the wine. The miso was super yummy. We were pretty hungry so we ordered a spicy salmon & spicy tuna hand roll, specialty roll, Hamachi and Salmon Nigiri. Service was great and the chef thanked us when got up to leave. Most importantly the sushi so good. Very fresh, tender, tasteful and good portions size. We took some home too. Best sushi I have ever had in my life. The rolls are a big size in diameter, tasted super fresh and ingredients paired well together. The ambiance is romantic and cozy. Art work is wonderful, it appeared to me the artist is linked to the restaurant. Wonderful place for a date night or a low key but wonderful food for dinner. They also have lunch specials. Got to Fort Collins late and my son wanted to go to sushi for his 22nd Birthday. We looked at some reviews hoping to find a great sushi find and WE DEFINITELY DID!! We had the calamari and crispy rice appetizer. Both were fresh and tasted amazing! We got the Fireworks special, which was an experience all its own, but the star of the show was the Hot Line. It was one of our favorite all time rolls and a must have. What stood out even beyond the excellent food was the waitress and owners. They brought out a free appetizer while the rolls were being made and then surprised my son with a decadent fried ice cream sundae. This is the SUSHI place to go in Fort Collins! read more
