I've always loved Mt. Fuji since way back when there were only two places to get sushi in this town but I hadn't been in awhile. As usual, the food was delicious. I had the Nabeyaki which was delicious and belly warming. The tempura shrimp was amazing. My boyfriend had the Negimaki bento box with a negi hamachi roll as an appetizer. His food was also amazing. Our server Kira was wonderful and the restaurant was cozy and quiet. Great meal. We will definitely start coming again more often. This place has always been legit! read more

We love coming here primarily because of the 'traditional' style seating (for lack of better words, it's like you're sitting at a table but the floor is raised, and you're seated on cushions - and it's a booth so you have some privacy) that my kiddo really enjoys, so he can sort of move around without us feeling cramped and he's not bothering other diners. There is an option to be seated at a regular table or regular booth as well, however. I can't speak to much of the cooked dishes because we usually just order sushi, but most everything we've tried has been yummy. There was one big no-no for me - the scallop dynamite, which upset our stomachs afterwards and had too much mayo, and the scallops tasted a bit fishy for my liking. There are plenty of spicy rolls to choose from and the rolls are creatively crafted. One bonus for me is that they serve natto (fermented soybeans), with the downside being that there seems to be fish roe on almost every specialty roll (but you can always request for them to be left off). There is room for improvement on service (attentiveness), but everyone is friendly and we keep coming back, so they must be doing something right! ;) read more

I've been on the hunt for even an OK (but at least authentic) Japanese restaurant in Fort Collins area. I can say without a doubt that this particular restaurant has no idea how to cook any of their "Japanese" offerings in a way that someone from Japan would enjoy. I ordered a number of quintessential Japanese dishes: gyoza (Japan has its own take on this dish - origins aside), tempura udon, and katsudon. The gyoza was alright flavor-wise but tasted like beef, rather than pork and didn't have any of that garlicky nira flavor that it should. The tempura (shrimp) tasted like a reheated frozen fish stick. The udon broth was flavorless and pale in color (should be dark and rich/salty). The noodles were alright. The katsudon katsu (breaded pork cutlet was pretty soggy but ok in flavor - not great but not bad). The biggest problem was it was a tiny bit of it on top of a mountain of rice with cucumbers and cabbage tucked in. The cucumbers were all soggy (of course - hot dish with moisture intense vegetable) and I had to pick them out because they just don't have the right flavor for the dish. The rice was poor quality with a strong taste that doesn't go with the dish either. It was served with miso soup and salad. The salad was actually probably the most authentic bit, though the dressing was an orange-like ginger which isn't typical but it's close enough. The miso soup was clearly from an instant pack. The flavor was stale and really didn't have much flavor at all. I can make better miso soup at home with 3 ingredients, not sure why they're serving instant packs. My review might seem harsh but it bothers me when a restaurant calls itself "Japanese" but is not at all. To me, it's kind of like trying to sell my rendition of "Starry Night" from a drink wine and paint class as the real thing. Because people surely come away from a place like this thinking they don't like Japanese food, when maybe they've never even had the real thing. Maybe their non-Japanese offerings have a lot more flavor. I'll certainly never know. read more

This place is great! I love the bento box. The booths that you can sit down in are so cool and very comfy. The servers are so nice and they also don't bother you too much during your meal. They have a lot of tasty options and their boba tea is great too. They have a lot fo great dairy free options! I would recommend to anyone who wants to try it. I have been coming to Mt.Fuji with my family for my entire life. It's a family owned restaurant, I see the same owners working hard every week. The waiters and waitresses are always so helpful and friendly and the atmosphere is really cozy. The complimentary miso soup is the best I've had. We always go in for the lunch bento boxes. They're a good price for great variety. But I know the dinner is excellent as well. The sushi is nice and fresh and the entrees are just delicious. This place is so close to my heart, I think it's the best Japanese around. read more

Amazing sushi & service!! My family & I popped in here to have lunch and it was great! The server sat us instantly and was super nice & quick the entire time we were there. He was very sweet and was clearly working extremely hard. We ordered the Ikura Nigiri - 10/10! The seaweed was nice & crunchy and the Ikura was very yummy. Their miso soup was also very enjoyable. Our waitress was accommodating with vegetarian options and even did something for us a la carte! :) Katie was our waitress and she was so good. And had a sense of urgency which was nice. Small parties will be put on the back burner to prioritize large parties for the bigger bucks. If you want to go here for a casual dinner with a friend be prepared for a two hour ordeal. They had one inexperienced server handling 6+ tables at a time. Check your bill as mine was $29 instead of $16 at first. I'm sure it was an accident but when they have one server on duty during peak dinner hours mistakes are bound to happen. Order the FIESTA ROLL!!! It's the best roll there imo - crab, seared salmon, and striped bass w tomatoes, tempura, *jalapeño, *cilantro, masago and mayo (that u can ask them to leave out). I really like any roll that has jalapeño and cilantro, they complement the wasabi and ginger flavors perfectly for me. Also NOTE that it takes a lonnnnnngggg time for the food to come - this is not a "quick lunch" place at all - order some green tea or a beer and an appetizer if you are starving. The inside of the restaurant has a great mural but overall, the decor hasn't been updated in a while, which is why I avoid the sunken seats that may or may not be cleaned regularly. Having to touch curtains on the way to/ from any restaurant bathroom always gives me the heebiejeebies too. Hope those are laundered but who knows... Overall, it's a great take-out or delivery place. I would say it's one of my top five places in Fort Collins for sushi but their dine-in atmosphere could be stepped up to meet the prices (and the competition). read more

We are new to town and staying in a hotel til our furniture etc gets here, so we're searching Yelp for sushi delivery (can't take the dog in!) This place had some really great review and interesting items on the menu, so we gave it a shot. SO HAPPY WE DID. The pieces of sushi are huge, and the fish is gorgeous and so fresh. ...never mind lower price than another place we checked. Delicious rolls, too. I had some pickiness requests, and not only were all requests honored, they wrote on the box what was done. Rise in prices, lowering quality seems like the new theme in town. We decided to get the rainbow roll and paradise roll. The rolls themselves were well made and very beautifully presented. The fish seemed fresh and overall it was a great experience. Service was prompt and we were well taken care of. Sorry to go against the grain, but I had a truly insulting experience at MT Fuji. We ordered the following (all of which were Maki Sushi): Futo Maki Roll; Lobster Roll; Sumo Roll. Everything was great until we got the Sumo Roll (I should mention that we got it about 15 minutes after everything else). The Sumo Roll is one of their "special" rolls, and is considerably expensive for a 6-pc roll. The very first ingredient listed for Sumo Roll is "fried oyster", so the price is understandable, and the idea of a fried oyster in a maki roll was very enticing. Here's the problem though: there was no oyster in the roll. None at all. Where is should have been there were fried tuna flakes instead. When we asked the server if we were missing something she said "oh yeah, it's right there [points to fried tuna flakes]" and explains that oysters are really small and that they only put one large one for the whole roll. Notice some problems here? 1. The very first ingredient for the Sumo Roll was missing 2. Apparently, the oyster they use are magical oysters that are both small, yet large enough to span an entire whole with just one. 3. She lied, and treated us like we didn't know better. TL;DR - The food and ingredients that were there tasted great, but the service was insulting, and ought to be a real concern to MT Fuji's owners considering the competition in town. read more

I have a gluten (wheat) allergy, so it is usually easier to eat at home than to go out. But the staff at Mt. Fuji seem to know their stuff when it comes to food allergies and is able to recommend dishes to accommodate. Every time we've visited, the food has been fresh, filling and in huge portions. We always leave with take-home boxes, no matter what we order. I was excited to learn that most of their dishes are gluten-free - including most sushi, box combos (without gyoza or panko potato patty). Sadly, one of the most amazing dishes - the udon noodles - has gluten, so I will have to pass on those. Mt. Fuji is a great place to enjoy with friends or to impress guests from out-of-town. read more

This place was a pathetic excuse for a customer friendly business. A group of friends and I bought a living social coupon where the rules outlined one per customer. When we went to pay the excessively rude staff said that it was one per table (although this is not what was advertised on the coupon). He got extremely unprofessional very quickly and made a scene in front of all the other customers. Threatening to fire our waitress and telling us he didn't care what we thought. She wasn't a bad waitress but the management and staff are just absolutely ridiculous. Aside from the horrible management and staff experience the food wasn't that good either. Especially for the price. The rolls and nigiri were bland and the ramen dish tasted like 10 cent ramen from Walmart. The service took FOREVER too. We ordered and didn't get any food until 40 minutes later...and yes I'm referring to my appetizer of miso soup. Don't waste your time at Mt. Fuji. Honestly it would be more beneficial for you to go to Fort Collins other sushi establishments and spend your money elsewhere. I will never go back here. read more

I've been coming to Mt. Fuji for quite a while, and it remains a common choice when I want Japanese in northern Colorado. All the standbys pass muster: lunch Bento boxes are affordable and plentiful, the Tempura is crisp and flavorful, the Udon bowls are warm and satisfying, and the sushi is about average for a Colorado spot. The service can be iffy, especially when it gets busy. Sometimes they're simply understaffed. They usually manage to keep food coming out quickly and accurately, though. The item I find myself ordering every single time is the baked green-lip mussels, so give them a try! read more

Mt. Fuji stood for a long time as the standard by which all other sushi would be measured for me. Over the last 10+ years, I have had some really amazing sushi experiences here. We used to go here so often in fact, that Jon and Anne (owners) knew us by name. The fish is usually very fresh, always colorful and very tasty. They've done a great job adding exciting rolls and their specials are usually excellent. That being said, our most recent experience was pretty mediocre. The fish didn't seem as fresh. It took forever to get our food (though if you eat sushi often, you know that it's usually an exercise in patience) and one of our rolls was wrong. As always though, our waitress was very friendly and attentive. After so many years of great sushi, there's no way I would give them less than 4 stars for just one less-than-awesome experience but I will say that I am not the gung-ho believer I once was.
