Stopped in for a beer after a run with friends, it was around noon on a Saturday and not busy. They were running a discount on several of their on tap beers and was able to enjoy a few flavors. The sweet fruity of the Koala Tears was great to go with the warmer weather and post run recovery. We had a corner to ourselves and were able to enjoy conversation without excess noise. read more

This is hands down one of the best breweries I've ever had the pleasure of visiting and I've been to a LOT of breweries. I sampled a lot of the beers and ordered a flight and just about everything they served me blew me away. This place knows how to brew some serious and also unique beers like the IPA conditioned on hemp. The location is near the college World Series stadium and some of the beer and swag incorporated the baseball theme which was very cool (I bought a few shirts). Next trip to Nebraska I'll be sure to plan a trip to La Vista to check out their main location. read more

Stopped at Kros Strain on the spur-of-the-moment after initial dinner plans fell through and it was on the way back. Comfortable interior. The bartender was efficient and helpful. Ended up with a beer flight as seen in the attachment. Liked three out of four. Busy Busy Bees, the dark one, was definitely not for me. Fairy Nectar and Nilla Nectar were crisp and smooth. I missed not having any bar food options. Read elsewhere that a food truck is sometimes in the vicinity. Would have been really nice to grab a decent burger and fries along with. As a previous reviewer noted, although nobody was unfriendly, I did get a bit of a vibe that the crowd was mostly regulars and I was not one. A group of friends and I visited Kros Strain for the final stop of the Dire Lion food truck. I had never been to Kros Strain before that, and was super pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it! The interior is so neat, with giant colorful murals on the walls, and cool chandeliers that look like hops, lighted up to be holiday colors (red and green) for the season we were there. You can see the room with all the equipment they use to brew their own beers (through the clear glass along the left side of the bar) which I always appreciate and think is extra cool. There is also a party room on the other side of the bar that can be rented out (it was rented out for a holiday party when we were there). The staff was super friendly and helped me find the right brew for what I was feeling: -I started with the Cornhead Lager which was a full bodied, little bit heavier-tasting, drink. One you couldn't drink very many of if you didn't want to get "full" on your beer before you had enough to actually feel a little buzz from it. The Cornhead Lager was definitely tasty, but I was looking for something a little lighter for my next drink. -I next ordered the Krossteiner, which was a Czech Pilsner, and THAT was my jam for the night. It had good crisp flavor and was a tad lighter in body than the Cornhead Lager so was a bit easier to drink for my puny stomach. I ordered a few more of these throughout the night and stuck with them for my drinks. -They also had a few non alcoholic options available, one of which was the Millstream Root Beer from Amana, IA. It was so delicious and fancy tasting, especially paired with the food from the Dire Lion. I think Kros Strain will always have food trucks that stop in, as well as their great beer options, so even though the Dire Lion (my fave) will no longer be fully operating, I think I'll definitely be stopping into Kros Strain more often now that I have experienced (and loved) it! read more

Was visiting from the east coast and this is one of several breweries I visited. The beer here is tasty. The ferme foeder saison tasted like pickles, not my favorite. The barrel aged Octoberfest was great. The orange tangerine crush sour tasted like the soda but more tart. The sippy cup lager tastes like your standard domestic beer - nothing special. The double hopped fairy nectar was my favorite. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Some snacks here but there was a food truck outside. Decor is interesting and fun. read more

I don't get the opportunity to delve into Nebraska breweries much. There are a fair amount throughout the state but nothing compared to states that are of notorious nature for their craft beer. In fact as time continues to pass breweries are slowly populating all over the country more than ever... especially where tourists may go or trendy neighborhoods and city centers in larger populated areas. Kros Strain I was eager to try but the beer I had, the Web of Lies I thought was just fair. It is a hazy IPA with a passion fruit flavor. Not a bad beer but not necessarily the most memorable I've come across for this beer style. Perhaps exploring some other options like lagers I would have enjoyed more but that opportunity did not present itself. Maybe another time on that note. But all in all not a bad location and the locals seem to enjoy the place which are all good things! read more

My husband went with the Black is Beautiful stout and he really enjoyed it. We watched the Chiefs game and enjoyed the bright airy environment. Stopped in for a couple beers on a Sunday right at opening (like just turned on the 'open' light). The bartender looked like she may still be prepping and no other customers were there. The ceilings were high and there's different table variations. We ordered at the bar and grabbed a table. The bartender wasn't as talkative as I'd expect in a brewery. Since breweries commonly have new beers, I think it's important to have someone to provide guidance. The 'Hot as Helles' was as promised and probably one of my favorite hot local brews in the area. The 'Cake and Pies' was also great. It was on the sweeter side and gave my non-beer-drinking husband something to happily sip on. Went here on a Sunday afternoon and it was super busy. Luckily, I got a seat at the bar area right when someone was leaving. They've got a great selection on tap. Having tried a few of their beers, I really enjoyed the Orange Crush beer. The girls behind the bar were friendly, and for as busy as it was, we got served at a decent pace. It also made it nice that there was a food truck outside. And since it was busy it was rather loud. When I come back I'm going to choose to go on a weekday, but that could also mean that there's no food truck too. It's nice that they have beer to go, but it sucks that my favorite beer, the Orange Crush was rather pricey. The other plus is that there is another brewery right next door if you want more of a selection of beer to drink for a full afternoon of drinking. read more

Ive been going to Kros Strain for a few years now. After having their beers all over town, I had to stop in. large number of beers on tap with a decent variety and none that disappoint. Bold IPAs are the highlight of this brewery, with sours coming in second place. The beertenders are always friendly, and you can count on Doug for a good story or two. They are also very knowledgable about the beers on tap and can help you make a decision if you are feeling at all indecisive. Kros Strain does not serve food, only bar snacks like pretzel sticks, nuts, and jerky, but they do allow you to order food in. In addition to this every Wednesday night is food truck night , where there will be a different food truck on site that you can get dinner from if you so choose. overall I am a fan and will continue to come back to this brewery, as i think it to be the best in Omaha. We came on Easter Sunday to try Kros Strain Brewing. Beer was refreshing and great. You can look at the beer selection using the QR code and you can try two samples. We waited at the bar to order and the bar tender ignored us and was at the end of the bar. When we asked about some of the beers, the bar tender was rude and uninterested. Aside from that, it was a beautiful day to sit outside in their outdoor seating. One suggestion, there could be some music outside. read more

Wednesday was the official first day for business at this new location, and Kros Strain has created quite the lovely new tap room. The new mural was done by the same artist (norm4eva) who did the one at the brewery down in La Vista. Of course, they continued with their hop cone light fixtures, but they also included chairs that look they were inspired by the mosaic mural patterns. I Ah, but I'm forgetting the important thing - the beer. Kros Strain does most any style well but excels at IPAs particularly. Any variant of their Fairy Nectar is worth trying. You can have a pint at the bar and grab a seat indoors or out on the patio, or you can select a crowler or from their various refrigerated packaged beers to go. If you step out of Kros Strain though into the adjacent hall, a large space with concrete stair seating and a massive TV greets you. Signs abound with architectural plans showing off the surrounding area intent, and the bays are decorated with promising names - like Archetype. I look forward to seeing how the surrounding area develops as other businesses fill out the Millwork Commons, but I'm 100% sure I'll be back for Kros Strain. read more

First, let's talk about the beer. They've got a good variety, and I had their Hef. It was excellent. Really good flavor, very easy drinker. So it was the only beer I had, and leads to the 3 star review. First, there was a private event going on. One bartender taking care of the event, and it's constant flow of drinkers, and those of us waiting in line to order a beer. After 10 min in line, I wasn't about to ask to tasters to see which of their beers I'd like. Disappointed as the hef was good enough that I'd like to try others. The place is large. Has a nice patio area. The vibe was not as inviting as the one next door. Maybe it was that they had too much going on. On top of the private event, there was a runners event they were registering runners for on the patio. We enjoyed the patio, but left after one beer. Id try it again to see if this was just a one off. read more

As far as taprooms go, this place is super chill and relaxed. Kros Strain as a physical location is perfectly nested in the LaVista neighborhood in a strip mall with similar bar Pint9 next door to give you some bar hopping options. The space is warehouse modern, with glass garage door style doors and hanging "hops" lanterns. Bartenders are knowledgeable, friendly, and smiling. The beers here are quite excellent. I'm no beer genius, but I do know a good beer when I taste one, and these beers have flavor, and distinct intention as to what your taste buds should encounter. They're loud without being boastful, and impressionable without being overpowering. I highly recommend a flight here to try a little of everything. Kros Strain actually gives you a reason to leave the popular Omaha beer districts of Blackstone, Benson, Downtown to have a flight, Kombucha, or some cool sparkling hop water. Bring in your own food! It gives you a reason to seek out the burbs in an otherwise fairly residential neighborhood. Or, grab some drinks and head to Alamo nearby for a flick. You'll thank me later. read more

From a beer standpoint, maybe Omaha's (Omaha & suburbs) best beer offerings. Southern Hopisphere is outstanding. Normally staff is friendly and informative. Sadly on a taco ride night the owner shut the taps down at 8:40, even though hours are listed until 9. You would think in the struggling craft beer marketplace an owner would be receptive to patrons wanting a beer 20 min before close. Not like it was 2:00 am on a weekend. Closed doors & turned down lights with people still on the patio...liability?? Tough to patronize a place that the employees care more about customer experience than the owners. read more

This was a great visit to this brewery in La Vista. The sign and bright lights made it easy to locate from the street. Parking was ample and the entry was inviting for customers. The tables are well spaced and ordering takes place at the bar. Service was quick, efficient, and the beer list is substantial. The strawberry lager was my favorite, followed by the coffee vanilla lager. The only downside is that packaged snacks are limited and no other food is available for sale. The upside was hanging out with another elite Yelper, Eliza and her husband. Overall, a good time and I will make a return visit in the near future. read more

I must have had a different experience than everyone else, unfortunately. Upon walking in to Kros Strain Brewery we were greeted with vast decor. The inside is fun, doesn't really flow together but it gives you something to look at. The bartender seemed a bit stressed, or maybe was having an off day- seemed to be annoyed. Back home we go to breweries and wineries all the time. It's just something to do and there are usually games or entertainment. Kros Strain Brewery had a few TVs to watch games. The beer was 10/10, but unfortunately I didn't feel I could give them 5 stars as everything but the beer was below average. One of my favorite things to do is try new things. This being said, I like to ask the bartender questions such as "what's your most popular" or "I'm looking for an IPA, is there one your recommend" and she couldn't/wouldn't answer my questions. She pointed to the screen menu on the wall and told me to read it. It was moving so quickly I could barely keep up! I'm disappointed because seriously their beer is AMAZING. But to me, you go to a brewery for quality time with friends/family, friendly service, aesthetic seating, & small bites. They did have a food truck outside that looked pretty good (per small bites comment). I hope that after reading this review you go to Kros to experience it yourself. read more
