It's funny to give such a seemingly basic store 5 stars, but I've had multiple great experiences here and I thought a shout-out was in order. Shannon in floral saved the day when I needed an orchid for a special occasion and she held a good-looking one for me because they were running low. She totally made my day and stuff like that is what keeps consumers coming back. The Ultra Mega Kroger (aka Kroger Marketplace) at Josey/Main and 121 is bigger and has more in many ways, but I often find stuff at this smaller location that the gigantic Kroger is out of. Funny, right? But true, and this has happened at least 3 times. I won't tell you what products these are because I don't want you buying up all the honey in my honey hole over here... :) Employees are generally very friendly and helpful. One employee helped me find some of the aforementioned products in the massive amount of boxes she was unloading to restock, and she did so in such a happy-to-help way with friendly conversation that it's worth noting. Given the Ultra Mega Kroger's complete train wreck that is curbside (ClickList), I've found myself wanting to give this smaller, simpler Kroger more business. And they have yet to disappoint. read more

The app is trash. The store is a little "in need of", BUT the deli staff and cashiers and e-commerce are LEGIT. The rest of the step team could take lessons on how to engage and exceed. We simple. We want groceries and to buy our clean groceries close to home. If I wanted a bougie store with NO service folk, I'll go to castle hills. I LOVE my local Kroger. Clean up. Stock. Make all the team be nice, and approachable (I'm sure they are are all nice - I just can't find any) not just the front end and the super cool deli folk. I've been coming here for a lot of years. I've tried the other one and I've tried the TT up the road. Just want MY grocer, close to MY home to be slightly cleaner, nicer and receptive. THAT SAID, my shopper, JOHANNA, was exceptional. The customer service at this Kroger is the worst ever. I can never find anything at this Kroger and if you can find anyone to help you, the answer is always "oh we used to carry it, but we don't anymore", or "we're out, we don't know when we'll get more in" or " we don't carry that, try the other Kroger". So I just save myself the frustration and go to the other Kroger down the street at Castle hills, that one has way better stock and the employees are friendly ànd helpful. This is a much smaller and older location than others nearby although they did have an update not too long ago. They have most everything that you would find anywhere else. Dont use the pick up method. I placed my order 5 hours ago for a pick up window 3 to 4. Arrived at 345. Sat in parking lot for 30 min only for someone to come out and ask me my last name and said my order would be canceled today because of no staff. Ok then why wouldn't you alert me by email or phobe call or text etc instead of waiting until i get here and wasting time. This is the second kroger that this has happened. I highly suggest Kroger suspend this service until they can get it together. I would rather pay higher prices at Tom Thumb and know i can depend on them than to have the hassle of crap service. read more

This location is smaller than other Kroger stores but it always has everything I need.

I shop this location weekly, but will most likely frequent the 121 location after my experience at check out. While commenting on my displeasure of bagging multiple glass bottles in the same bag Kevin and Andrea continued with indifference. When I asked if I would get refunded if they broke on my way home I was told "I don't know". When I asked again because that didn't answer my question Kevin yelled "I don't know, it's never happened.". Chalking this up to getting nowhere I was just ready to leave. Instead of doing the obvious and asking a manager or bagging it properly, I was treated in a disrespectful manner and even heard them laughing as I was leaving. I want to give this Kroger a big THANK YOU! Kroger hires lots of challenged people & I am all for it. I did have a issue with the grocery bagger so I mentioned it to the night shift manager, PAM.The young gal took her frustration out on my groceries, mainly the $1.49 box of a dozen donuts. I got caught in the horrific rain storm and stood near the opening doors waiting for the rain to let up. Ummm that didn't take place for about an hour. In the meantime Pam noticed I had Outshine ice pops. She suggested I have them put back in the freezer. I opted to have the purchase of 6 boxes refunded and put back on my credit card. That was the best to do. Two less bags of groceries. After an hour it did let up just a bit. By that time my adult son came to the rescue & helped load up my car to come home. Kroger is one of the few grocery options in The Colony, TX outside of Walmart. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE me some Walmart, but sometimes you just don't feel like going and dealing with all the chaos and traffic that comes along w Walmart. This Kroger is a bit older and could use some updating but it is well stocked with just about anything you need, want, and expect in a grocery store. Good prices and sales items. Reasons for 3 stars: 1.they are not cheaper than target or Walmart. Yes you save 10 cents a gallon on gas and get "low prices" at Kroger but they can't beat target. At target you get 5% off your purchase when you get a red card and get free shipping online. 2.some things are hard to find. 3. The Person that bags groceries left and I had to do the work myself. I guess that's ok. 4. Payed $3.53 for half and half but it's $3.03 at Walmart. I payed an an extra 50 cents :( read more

I am so disgusted that this has to be my local grocery store. I love Kroger. But this location should be ashamed of the amounts of rotten produce in their produce section. ALL of the fruits and veggies are in bad shape and whomever is managing the produce area needs a slap in the face. Just miles away, the Kroger in Carrollton has great looking produce. This is an older Kroger and not nearly as well stocked other nearby locations. I won't even bother shopping in produce or the bakery. Sale items will mostly likely be out of stock. I only run in here to pick up an item or two because its close. Parking is awkward but its close making it easy to run in and out. read more

Usually have a normal grocery experience. Not exceptional but I get what I need and move along who cares. I went this morning to get a few items which totaled around 45 dollars. Laurie on register 10 was just rude as heck! Granted, it's 8:30 am so I can have some type of understanding that you can't break a 100 dollar bill but the way she went about it was like ummm okay? Asked if she could break it and before I finished the question she cuts me off with "I cant do that right now". It adds some frustration because I don't have much on my credit card but it's cool I'll figure it out. Then she says "just let me have it I'll try to get a loan I guess" with the worst attitude. I just ended up giving 20 in cash and put the other 25 on my card to shut her up and leave. Ma'am idk who took a dump in your cornflakes this morning but I'm just trying to buy my Alfredo sauce and go back to this crappy life like the rest of us. This is my go to grocery store because it's so close and not out of the way. However, they are far behind others when it comes to fresh produce and bakery items. I can't say that the employees are the friendliest, but I do love seeing Kroger employ the mentally challenged! read more

My family just moved to the Colony and this is our local grocery. I just popped in for my first shopping trip to grab three items. Went to the self check-out only to have an employee cut in front of me to buy herself chips and a drink. When she did this she said she'd be quick. She wasn't. I had to wait until a different check out became free to make my purchase. Guess I will be shopping at the Super Target down the street because they know the meaning of customer service. Not one person could help me. Apparently no one knows what they carry nor do they know how to ask the manager that is standing 10 feet away. She pointed to an isle and said I could check there. Whelp this Kroger is in my way home but so is the new one unfortunately I will not be back. No point in getting bad service when there's another store right down the road. read more

This is the same Kroger where I used to come home and realize I had purchased expired peanut butter, and other various expired products. While this fun game taught me how to be a great label reader, it was a bit frustrating. Lately I've seen some big changes in the store, beginning with a total remodel. I really appreciate the customer service at this smaller store. Not that they aren't nice at the bigger Krogers, but at the smaller store you know people by face and name. I like my little Kroger. Yes, it's a little older and could use a facelift, but when I'm shopping for food, I don't really care what the building looks like. Besides, remodels mean higher prices. They are always well stocked, have friendly and helpful staff, and are my go to place for fresh, inexpensive flowers. I love the Kroger in The Colony, and they have the best cakes. To those that do not know this, I went to Kroger in Little Elm and spoke to a manager about the fruits and veggies here in The Colony. I didn't understand why Kroger didn't have a lot of produce, the manager said that when the trucks come in, The Colony being a small store gets one box of tomatoes; and the store manager goes thru it and picks out the best tomatoes. That is why The Colony has very little produce. The bigger stores will get 4 boxes of tomatoes and go thru and throw away the bad ones and still have a lot to sell. I have been going to this store since it open up. No complaints!!!! read more

I am honestly not sure why this location has such bad reviews. Yes, it has been around FOREVER and is indeed an older building and location. But I always have a great experience when I shop here! There are a few older ladies that work at this location that always make me feel extremely comfortable and are very sweet to my kids (I have 3 under the age of 6, so shopping is a very hectic experience for us.) I will definitely continue to come here as long as it is around, and will be sad when they close it. I hear they are opening up a brand new one close by. I hope that they give the sweet employees at this location jobs there! read more

This is a horrible Kroger's. Rude employees. Shelves not stocked. If it's on sale they won't even have it for the first day of the sale. Often items aren't restocked for weeks. Name brand items disappear with the excuse "we are small and don't have the shelf space" the prices at the register will seldom match the shelf price....they don't change out old stickers or update their computer system. If you point out the price difference you can bet they are going to grab their hand scanner and just walk off...to the back of the store or where ever the item should be.... Then come back confused "can't find it"... All the while you are expected to just stand there while they try and figure it out. Then the have to fill out a form for the office.... Again while you stand there. Is it worth the saving the difference? Absolutely not and they are counting on you not wanting to wait and just paying the higher price... Which will add up to millions a year in ripping off their customers. Kroger's use to have the policy of if the price is wrong the first one is free...because it's their mess up not ours. This store is dirty and old. For years they had a vegetable can propping up the meat department display. The managers are rude and classless. This is where Kroger managers come to end their careers and you can tell they are mad and hate it by their attitudes. And look out if you go during the day when the deli manager is there....she's the loudest rudest Indian woman. She yells at customers if you question her. I no longer buy deli meat and cheese because of her...even if she's not there she was in charge of the department during the day and I don't trust it. The city of The Colony needs to shut this store down and get a Trader Joe's or something else in there. Do yourself a favor and drive the 1.5 miles up the street to the Tom Thumb the produce is perfect and the people are nice and the store is spotlessly clean. read more
