Translation from the above: I visited Kroger and spent a little over an hour meticulously selecting groceries. I focused on choosing healthy options that adhered to a specific diet prescribed by my doctor, particularly important as I had recently been discharged from the hospital. Upon reaching the checkout area with a full cart, I was dismayed to find no cashiers available. The self-checkout option was impractical for several reasons. The limited space in the bagging area makes it impossible to unload a full cart without using multiple carts, which often triggers the anti-theft system. This necessitates frequent assistance from an attendant, defeating the purpose of a 'self' checkout and creating an overall frustrating experience. Because of not finding help to check me out and feeling too weak and tired to bag my groceries my self. Due to this unacceptable situation, and my physical limitations after my hospital stay, I was forced to abandon my fully-loaded cart at the front of the store without being able to explain my reasons to anyone. My primary complaint is the lack of available cashiers. I am deeply disappointed that customer service has deteriorated to this point. This used to be my preferred store. It is close to my home. This experience was, frankly, pathetic. Kroger's staffing was unacceptable, and I am seriously reconsidering whether I will shop there again, despite its convenient location. I believe in maintaining a certain level of self-respect, and this experience was simply ridiculous. Thank you for nothing, Kroger; you were once my favorite store. read more

This Kroger was close to where we stayed, so we stopped here first to grab a few items that we wanted to cook while here. The store was small and typically, the produce at Kroger is really good. That was not the case with some of the items selected here. We bought a red onion that most of it had to be trashed. While it looked good on the outside, the inside wasn't very pretty. I love pineapples and wanted to buy some that were fresh and already cut up. The ones they had out didn't look too good so I left them there. We wanted some fresh salmon, but they had none, so we stuck with seasonings, bag salad and went another route for fresher items. read more

So I've come around on this Kroger a bit after many repeat shopping trips and especially after this Kroger, like many grocery stores, have become essential during the coronavirus shutdown. Pre-shutdown, this location had become a bit hit or miss with the customer service. I've come across stockers who were clearly oblivious to the myriad shoppers trying to get around them. But at the same time, I've had great experiences, like when a lady working in the bakery offered my son a cookie, which he enjoyed as I gave him bits of the cookie throughout our shopping. Post-shutdown, it seems like the employees have clearly been working hard but are at their most helpful. The meat section was pretty picked over during a recent trip, but I lucked out to find one of the meat department employees restocking. I told him I was looking for ground chuck and sirloin, and he was able to find some for me. I haven't seen much disinfecting on the part of the staff, but at the same time, when I've been shopping recently, I've been trying to get in, get what I need and leave as quickly as possible. I'm thankful to have this Kroger so close to me, and I hope the staff know they are appreciated as well. read more

I'm landing at two stars but even that is being generous. I always wondered why this Kroger received the title of Dirty Kroger. I used to never visit this Kroger. After moving to Clifton, I decided to give this Kroger a chance since it was closer. With the initial or random visit, you might just think this is another Kroger. In some respects, it is just another Kroger. I'll go out of my way to the Highlands Kroger and/or the Kroger on Poplar Level near the expressway. Those are the best two Krogers in town as far as I'm concerned. I've recently opted for Aldi so my Kroger trips are declining. When I do need Kroger, this is the last Kroger I'll go to. Instead of paragraphing this review, I'll just list the issues: -- It's small. -- The selection seems limited. I can't ever find anything. -- The layout is odd. -- The aisles are cramped. -- The employees aren't friendly here(from my experience). -- Park near the back of the parking lot else someone will curse or honk at you. -- The shoppers here always seem like they're in a bad mood. Most of them will stand in the way even if they see you're trying to get through. The other shoppers want you to grab products for them off the shelf(it has happened each of the three times I've been there). To end, I love grocery shopping. I love picking out food, finding new things, self-checkout, and the whole deal. I might like the act of grocery shopping because of the silent social aspect of it. With the dawn of self-checkout, I can walk in, pick out what I need, checkout, and never say the first word to anyone. I appreciate the fact that if I'm feeling bad or something that people are the least of my worries. This Kroger loves to post up someone just inside the entrance. It might be for the Kroger credit card, Courier-Journal(I don't need a useless paper-the CJ hasn't been good in years), or whatever else. Don't talk to me when I'm grocery shopping unless you're a friend. I even actively avoid Kroger around girl scout cookie time. How about... I come to you if I want cookies? The only redeeming thing about this Kroger is the guy across the street that is usually playing his saxophone loudly for everyone. Keep on keeping on sax-guy. read more

Long lines, long waits, understaffed, not clean, and lots of empty space on shelves. Seems to be typical every day. Disaster. This has been my neighborhood Kroger for 25 years and until this year it has been stocked and staffed well. Clearly something strange is going on. It's really disappointing. read more

This place is close to most apartments, gas stations and other restaurants. It is smaller compared to other Kroger but they still serve great amount of wonderful produce and deli items. Note that they usually have their fried and baked chicken on sale towards of each night. read more

There is a hidden gem at this Kroger.... And it's their Liquor Store. The store houses an OUTSTANDING selection of tequila and one of the best selections in the city. Their store manager, Greg knows high level information about high quality tequila. He has an incredible selection of additive free tequila ( of course 100% agave). Classy Kroger. All the Krogers in Louisville have a nickname. For far too long, this Kroger has been known as "Dirty Kroger." With all the latest renovations, I propose a new nickname for this Kroger. I just got to explore Kroger + new renovations. The new space is warm, inviting, and encourages fresh produce. There is a full area where you can come in and grab lunch/dinner from the refrigerator section. There's a fancy new cheese space where you can grab fresh Murray's cheese. Interested in sandwiches, pizza or mac and cheese for lunch or dinner? There's a full deli section for that to customize your order. The aisles have been modified to better display items. The pharmacy has a fresh new spot towards the front of the store. The refrigerated section has been revamped, its more modern and contemporary. To top this off, even the sign for the Kroger outside has been changed, fitting with the new Classy Kroger experience. I can't wait to go back to what I have deemed to be Classy Kroger! read more

The Clifton Kroger underwent some renovations that made it more up to date. It still feels like it's lacking. It's as if they took the amenities at the St. Matthew's Kroger and shoved it in a tiny space. It feels cramped. This Kroger is the one closest to my house but I don't go there terribly often. It's not the fact that it's small - I usually enjoy the smaller Krogers. My biggest complaint is the parking lot - no surprise to most people that shop there I'm sure. I've gotten stuck trying to back out of a spot for nearly five minutes and I feel like that happens often. It's not worth the parking headache. read more

Let me start with the fact that I love Kroger. Their prices are pretty great and they have a great store brand that is organic as well. This store is closest to my home and it is where I get my prescriptions. The pharmacy staff are always great. They make sure I get the best price for my prescriptions. If my script can be found cheaper over the counter, they recommend that. They are kind and patient! I use the GoodRx app to get better prices since I don't have insurance and they are always willing to help even if it takes extra time. I give Kroger 4 stars due to the service I have received in the past in the other part of the store. I have come in a few times and they are completely out of what I need. I have used self bagging and not been able to get proper change back. It was only a quarter and they didn't have it so I moved on. I feel the service could be better. I can say that my experience has gotten better, which is also why I gave 4 stars. I don't often shop here for much but if I need one or two items I will. I do feel comfortable about getting my prescriptions here. read more

Kroger on Brownsboro Road has had a renovation but it is still not my favorite Kroger. I think it stems as much from the customer base as the store itself. That may seem harsh but every time I go to this location I get nearly rammed in the parking lot, somebody gives me the finger and I usually get glared at by an angry shopper. I don't know what it is about this location but that is my experience. The employees are nice and the store is much better since the renovation but I will still drive the extra distance to visit the Hubbards Lane Kroger. read more

It is OK for your basic needs. But some areas are not stocked well and the choices are limited. It is a small Kroger and not one of the new stores so that is to be expected. I have had several instances of buying food only to get it home and find that it is spoiled, this has included salad kits and meat. The staff is friendly though. Another problem lies in the parking lot. It is compacted with limited space and I have had my car dented by several hit and runs. In summary, it is alright for your basic necessities with a friendly staff. Just be careful in the parking lot and check your produce. read more

Most of my time spent in a grocery store is me walking around silently mouthing "what the fuck?" because logic is out the window as to where an item should be located. This, I have to google every.last.item. until I wander around aimlessly until I find what I'm looking for. But at this location, their impenetrable concrete-and-steel construction impedes certain RF channels on the cellular spectrum limiting cellular service to CDMA or GSM (essentially talk/text only) On the bright side, I now know where I would like to be during a severe weather incident. read more

I am disappointed in the other reviews! This is my neighborhood Kroger, and I have to tell you - I've never been to a grocery that I have encountered such friendly people that are stocking the floor. The checkout employees are fine, but the moment I look somewhat confused (not hard for me in a grocery, as I prefer reservations to recipes) someone is just around the corner to ask if I need any help. The size of this Kroger isn't impressive, but I've never NOT found what I needed. Suitable variety by my standards. Plenty of selfcheckout lanes for us that like to take our time. Sign up for the KrogerPlus card and you can get lots of coupons loaded onto your card plus discounts at the gas pump. I'm a Kroger fan and this location is mine! read more

This Kroger is okay I suppose. It's the one closest to my house so that's why I go. It's very small and the parking lot is too. It gets really crowded and there are only a few checkout lanes. It doesn't stop me from shopping there though. Some days everything is low or out of stock, which I've noticed on Monday's. Overall it's a decent Kroger, no issues. read more

This was once known as the"Dirty Kroger." There has been an improvement on that score and recent renovations in the store have made it a brighter easier place to shop. However, I won't go back. After many complaints to the store managers about the wall of smoke which one must endure entering the store, this happened today: "I walked into your store through the main entrance. Inside the lobby, vestibule, anteroom - whatever that is where you enter before moving to the selling floor - someone had been smoking and recently. The stench was of cigarette smoke which was left from a smoker in that specific area. The stench did not drift into the area and it did not come from a person who had recently smoked and later come into the area. Can you not provide a decent and healthful space inside your store for customers? I've had it. "Obama, Out!" I will not shop in your store again. Ever. You are the Smokers' Kroger. Some of the day shift employees are really nice, but after they leave, the other employees kind of act like you're in their way. There's a serious "I don't really give a damn about this place" vibe from a lot of the employees. I agree with the other review that mentions the horrible produce section. It's very inconsistent. If you really have your heart set on a specific fruit or vegetable, there's a chance their not going to have any good examples of it. Sometimes I wonder why they even bother with a produce section. I was fifteen feet away from an argument between a manger and an employee once, and the employee was repeatedly screaming "You can't fire me for that, I haven't been convicted yet." Louisville is a pretty crappy town for grocery stores to begin with, but there are better places to go. read more

I live in clifton... So I'm here often. It's been through some major changes. It used to be called " dirty kroger " and now, it's actually really nice. I love the fact that they have sushi, a new deli and a cheese shop. The new produce section is so much more organized and clean too. It seems much larger by the layout. It's very shopable. There are tons of new items that cater to a more " foodie " and health conscious crowd. Much needed update. Same two areas that needed and still need help though... The deli ( terrible service ) and the seafood is still pretty sketch. I refuse to buy any. ( the seafood dept minus the sushi at the sushi bar ) totally different. There are some memorable people such as Victoria. She's always very helpful and smiles a lot. The clearance section is much larger and organized. They seemed to have nailed it as much as possible considering how small the footage is. There's always that horrible parking lot though lol... Cheers read more

"Dirty Kroger" gets 4 stars from me and here is why. 1. It's close to my place- we all love convenience. 2. The younger employees are very nice; I actually find the employees still in high school to be more friendly and helpful than the older employees 3. Killer beer selection; I've been going here for 3 months and on each occasion I've been able to get a new 6-pack to try 4. I don't really cook often so when it comes to produce, I'm happy with apples and oranges (they all have been fine in quality) and I haven't really scouted out the fresh vegetables so I can't comment on those 5. The lady at the deli counter is amazing. She's always so helpful and friendly and lets you have a small sample if you're trying to find a new deli meat Why there is not an additional star. 1. The parking is a nightmare. I think I have had the opportunity to be run over at least a dozen times since shopping here 2. This is a very small kroger that has only the basics. A lot of the times there are many areas in this Kroger that are never restocked. It's either they don't restock or they are out, which appears to happen a lot. Be sure to tell an associate to check the back for what you are looking for. Sometimes I've been to this location and see that some of the produce has gone bad and they never take it off the shelf. Things like iceberg lettuce were very brown and the avocados, very, very, very mushy. The clearance produce rack has fruits and veggies left on it to rot right next to the bananas. Disgusting! It would be nice if they had an expansion, but obviously this Kroger doesn't make enough for that to happen. I'm not sure how long this one will stay open, I'll give it a couple years. read more

We're regular Kroger's shoppers, but only go to this one (despite it being only blocks from our home) when desperate. Their health food and produce sections aren't as extensive or well-stocked as other stores. This one is good for basic pantry items, beer or ice on the way to a party, or to use the Redbox. My neighborhood Kroger :) I go here almost every day to get what I need to make dinner for my daughter and myself. And to cook my man a lunch to take to his 3rd shift work. They have everything I need to prepare dinner and the prices are better than Wal-Mart. Plus in case you haven't heard, they just bought out the other stores in the same strip as them and they are making this Kroger a lot bigger. With a huge selection. Its going to be a freaking super Kroger. Not kidding. So be prepared to have the best Kroger in the Ville right next door ;) They told me they are going to stay open during much of the renovation. The employees here are extremely helpful. Never have I encountered a rude employee here. read more

They spent a lot of money classing up the Deli area after years of of being one of the worst Krogers in town, but the poor service in the deli makes it such a waste of time standing around waiting to be noticed, sad that they went through all that trouble to improve the place without emphasising service. The sushi guy will make a fresh roll at his insistence, the person stocking produce asks if they can help you, the cheese people are eager to help, and the bakery staff are the sweetest. They were small before the remodel and now they aisles seem even smaller after the remodel. I'm going to be honest with you though, if this is the closest store to you (like it is for me) just make the trip to the Kroger on Hubbard's lane because it's a thousand times better. I've had far too many issues with Kroger, and this Kroger specifically, to give anything more than one star. If it were possible, I'd give it zero stars. I have contacted the store and the Kroger feedback site without minimal help or assistance. I say 'minimal' help, because someone online emailed me a response to my complains TWO months after I submitted the complaint, almost as if they were hoping I had forgotten about the problem during my visits. If that weren't bad enough, they didn't even take the time to understand my complaint and emailed me some auto-generated reply. I've also tried contacting the CEO of Kroger and other management staff and it was no luck with them either. No response at all. They don't actually care about customer service. That is precisely why I am no longer a paying customer at Kroger. There are plenty of other grocery store chains that actually give their customers some decency and respect. This Kroger is three minutes from my home and in walking distance. However, I decide to take my business and hard earned money elsewhere even though it may be farther or more inconvenient. Seriously, do not shop here. There are plenty of other better stores for grocery shopping like Meijer, Aldi, and Save-a-Lot. I have even shopped at the Dollar Tree for some basic staples to avoid shopping at Kroger. read more

This review is for the Pharmacy. I transferred my prescriptions online yet when I went in, the pharmacy had no record of it. Later, I refilled my prescriptions online, and when I went to pick them up, the pharmacy had no record of it. The second time I filled my prescriptions online, I printed out the confirmation and brought it with me anticipating the pharmacy would have no record of it--and they didn't. I told the woman behind the counter that this was the second time I refilled my prescriptions online and asked if the online method didn't work. She replied "I don't know anything about online." Walgreens has it all over Kroger when it comes to prescriptions and pharmacy matters. Walgreens unfortunately no longer accepts my insurance, so I was forced to go elsewhere. Oh well, maybe I'll check out Walmart or Rite Aid. read more

The infamous "dirty" Kroger. This Kroger just happens to have not been redone like the majority of Krogers in town. I don't find this Kroger dirty anymore than I do any other place that isn't shiny and new however I still give it 3 stars for the following reasons: this Kroger is seriously lacking in selection compared to other Krogers in town. I came in here right after moving while every thing was still boxed up and a snow storm was about to hit and they are one of few that doesn't sell so much as a cookie sheet in terms of cookware. Additionally this isn't a Kroger where I would be scooping up sushi either. I find the selection of produce to be fine but that's about it. The store isn't big enough and lacks the extras many stores have. The parking lot is the worst. This Store obviously needs a complete overhaul but the parking lot ugh it's terrible too. This is the Kroger closest to my house but I more often than not try to hit another on my way home with a better selection etc. The only reason I didn't give two stars is the staff at this Kroger is incredibly helpful and friendly. if you read any review for this kroger, this should be the one!!! this is the "dirty kroger" for more than just their cleanliness issues. i would just like to share todays nightmare at the "dirty kroger" step by step. 1. parked my car and walked in to buy diapers for my infant. 2. proceeded to u-scan and rung up my diapers. credit card machine was frozen on that uscan. went to next uscan lane after looking around for an employee for a couple minutes. 3. paid for diapers at different uscan register and requested $100 cash back from my debit card. machine spits out five $20 bills, the first of which falls down into a gap in the cash back tray. 4. look for an employee for 2 or 3 minutes before noticing that the tray is loose. i lift up the tray to try and find my missing $20 bill and out of nowhere, in my ear i hear "you can't do that, naw you can't be doin that," 5. i attempt to explain to this employee what happened and that i watched my $20 bill shoot down that gap. i may have gotten 3 or 4 words out before hearing, "i dont care u cant do that, i dont know what you tryin to do but you can't do that." 6. so i ask the girl to get a manager and she looks around for a second and told another employee "this dude wont a manager, he says the u-scan ate his money." 7. so i tell the girl i dont appreciate how she is acting toward me and she tells me she dont need my attitude, just cause she is at work don't mean i can be rude to her. 8. i go to the service desk to ask for a manager. 15 minutes later i ask for a manager again and one comes after another 10 minutes. 9. after telling the manager that i lost money in the uscan, she checked the uscan and couldn't immediately see it so tells me she's not sure what happened and offers no help. so i ask the manager to please have that uscan register closed and counted and that if it isn't $20 over, then ill eat the money. 10. manager's exact words were, "we can do that but it will take about 20 minutes and im sure you don't have 20 minutes to wait so if u want to leave your name and number i will call you and let you know." so against my better judgement i give her my nickname and phone number. 11. it is now 3 hours later and still no call and the uscan is still open for business" im sure i will see that $20 again. read more
