I know they have had bad press lately, however, this Kroger has good prices and a friendly staff. More of a real neighborhood feel to it. Which honestly is rare these days. The mix of the eclectic Highlands, and hardworking Germantown give the store this vibe you don't find elsewhere. It also keeps the standard high. The deli food is tasty and fresh, as well as produce. It's not yet lunchtime but what's for lunch? I stopped into Kroger and at the deli, got some cheese sliced as well as Boar's Head turkey. Down in the bakery, some fresh bread. Yes, this will do very nicely. The store is tidy and well organized as is typical for the Kroger brand. Perhaps a little more expensive than some but it's a pleasant shopping experience. ( REG/ caffeine free but no diet) Today I go to a store to find none in stock and decide to call the next store to ask manager if item is in stock. A recording connects me to manager where it rings continuously without being answered. For all the inconvenience of driving to 3..4..5...stores one quicky realizes and cost savings is negated through time lost fuel used etc. However Kroger after causing ALL this inconvenience IS THE ONLY business who charges a "convenience fee" for cash back ...a service that costs them NOTHING. I believe in giving credit where credit is due. KROGER is at least CONSISTENT. Our experience is the SAME whether Goss Ave....,Westport Rd...Poplar Level....or Holiday Manor. Thank God more Publix are opening ...as their locations become more convenient eventually we can avoid Krogreedys all together. A friend suggested it's gotten worse and offered an idea. Very clean well organized and friendly employees for the most part.I love the 2 too 3 day mark down in just about every section of the store as I am 72 years old on fixed income social security. These markdowns really make a big difference in my wife's grocery budget as well as mine. Most groceries stores usually do not mark down anything until ready to expire that day.I have never been to any grocery store that has the selection of just about every thing that this kroger has.Even the parking lot is very well clean and organized. read more

This is by far the closest grocery store to our house, so we are here pretty regularly. Whether I'm getting 1-2 things, or a full week's worth of groceries, shopping here is just not easy. Just to pull in and out of the parking lot is a bit of an ordeal. The arrows and dead ends are hard to follow and many cars plow through parking spots without looking to get out. Then once you're inside, you encounter traffic jams in the aisles. I know staffing is difficult, but there are sometimes only 2-3 full service lines open at peak times (Sunday AM, weekdays after work), which forces more into the self-checkout lines. On the plus side, the food selection is better here than other closeby Krogers. Produce is solid for the most part, the meat section is good and has optimal specials, and the nearby Wine & Spirits shop has a great bourbon selection. Double Dragon is also one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. If you live in the area and have time, I would recommend either going to Aldi for cheaper prices or the Kroger on Bardstown Road instead. read more

Came into our local Krogers almost 8:30 pm A couple weeks ago isle's were closed and signs were posted throughout the store due to a mice problem, and that the staff was doing all they could to solve this issue. This evening me and my partner left this kroger within 5 mins of shopping empty handed, mice running across the floor in the pizza isle.. we were mortified and will not be back. This location needs to be closed until further notice until this sanitation issue can be resolved! read more

No carts available to shoppers...look like they were used for a reset...finally I managed to get a worker get one for me that took about 8 minutes. after all that. They didn't have the thing that went there for many other other customers or disgusted because of the long lines and no baskets or cards available. I think I saw one lady that must've been in her 80s. She had about 15 to 20 items in her arms trying to carry. checkout was ridiculous.!!! They really need to work on the customer service. learn how to manage the frontlines cause if they do that the customers would be happier.. The store was messy unkept. read more

This review is solely based on my consistent experience with their deli. Today I arrived to the deli line at 10:40am. One person in front of me with his small order already in the process (slowly). Once his order was complete, worker continued to walk around deli and avoid eye contact with me and not take my order. There were multiple people in line behind me as well. Finally employee comes back and says she needs to go to the bathroom and will write down my order and for me to come back after I do my grocery shopping. I only needed a few things and returned after about 20 min. Employee was still not back and order was not ready. Multiple other employees behind counter as well. Proceeded to wait for employee to return and then she finally came back out but wandered around behind counter for awhile before finally completing the order ... I genuinely have no idea why the service is so terrible at this particular Kroger's deli. Every time I come there are 3-4 employees at the counter who totally ignore customers - even when spoken to. I avoid using their deli if at all possible - because no matter the day or time , the service is terrible. It shouldn't have taken over 40 minutes to get 1lb of shaved deli meat with one person in line before me. However, the rest of the store has great employees who are always kind and helpful - from cashiers, stockers, seafood to Clicklist. And this review does not reflect them in any way. read more

Really bad all around. I stopped shopping at Kroger entirely after enough bad experiences, it's worth driving 15+ minutes to Trader Joe's. This location is constantly understaffed, I haven't seen a non-self-check out line open in probably 6 months. One time, I waited over *two hours* for my pickup order, as did many other patrons, while some people pulled up and received their order within 10 minutes. Truly abysmal! Not to mention, nobody was communicating with people that were waiting for their orders - people started screaming in the parking lot. I'm not saying that's appropriate behavior, but I can't say I blame them either. The pharmacy is just as bad, always an extremely long line and slow service. I switched my medications to Walgreens. I would suggest avoiding at all costs! read more

I visited this Kroger location for the first time post-COVID. And what I found was pretty typical of other Krogers. Some particular observations of this location, though: * Since undergoing a renovation a couple of years ago, the cookware selection has greatly expanded. It takes up roughly an entire aisle at this Kroger. This location seems to be a mix of the super high-end Krogers (like the store in Jeffersontown) and the more humble Krogers (like my usje, the Brownsboro store). * Even in winter, this has a decent produce department. I was able to find everything I needed. * Like previously mentioned, this has a great cheese selection in particular. * Eggs, some frozen food and cooking items seemed picked over, but this may be more due to being after Thanksgiving. I did notice more people flaunting the mask rule at this Kroger than I've seen at others, though. While all customers I saw wore masks, several had them under their noses. *insert long, angry sigh here* As with anywhere you go right about now, take all the necessary precautions to keep yourself and others safe, please please please. read more

I hate agreeing with Brad's more strident opinions but this is one of the worst Krogers I have ever been to. This is near a lot of friend's homes so if I need something this is a place that I find myself having to run in and out of. Parking here is a nightmare. There are plenty of spots but the lot always has errant carts and humans wandering around like they don't know they're around moving cars. It is very frustrating. Once you're in the store, things aren't as organized as in other Kroger stores. It never seems clean. The employees don't seem friendly. Kroger by my house is dingy and parking is awful but the people are nice so it's okay otherwise. Customer service goes a long way. read more

I'm not the busiest I have ever been at work, but I still find excuses to not make trips to the grocery. Luckily it is so easy to shop the store online. I had previously used the Kroger app on my phone, but last night I used the Kroger website on my laptop. The website/app stores previously purchased items, and items you've purchased frequently, making a very quick add into your cart. I ordered everything I needed within minutes. I was able to select any time availability today to pick up at the store. Today, I received a text reminder with a link to click to state I was on my way or that I was at the store. It was a very short wait until my groceries were brought to my car. The employee was very kind and wore a mask. She put my groceries in my car and I was on my way! I am very satisfied with my service and ease to shop for groceries now! read more

Placed a pick up grocery order earlier. Called to see if we could pick up the order earlier than 8pm, which is what the website said is the earliest appointment. As usual, no one answers the phone at the store. If this were an isolated incident, I'd shrug it off, but I'm really done shopping at Kroger. Besides the price gouging and lack of service during and after the pandemic, I've had to contend with wrong pharmacy orders, delayed orders, no one answering any of the phones in the store, and complete indifference from the corporation. Wrong and delayed pharmacy orders affect a person's life and well-being, but Kroger doesn't care. This Kroger is middle of the road. In terms of size, its a big one. The aisles are large, and the selection is good. In particular, the produce department is sizeable. My main concerns are: #1 - The service. They are not too helpful here. On my last visit I went to the meat counter and there was no one there to provide service. I walked around and found an employee in the meat department placing new meat on the refrigerated shelves. I asked him for help and he said he was heading off to break, but that someone will help me over at the meat counter. I gave up and left. #2 - The produce, while ample is of poor quality. The fruits are as hard as rocks. On my last visit I bought mangos that never ripened. read more

Last 3 click list pick ups? Waiting 30 minutes. Arrive 10 minutes before anyone else. But alas am last with food so I'm wondering are they short handed? So I ask this young person named Diamond who shrugs, rolls eyes and says "I dunno". Okay then lol. I go just now and I get this same person. I asked am I missing any items? She rolls her eyes, shrugs and tosses the receipt at me. Are you kidding? She asks a very sweet young man who is taking care of the customer next to me to load my groceries. I ask her name, she's telling him "don't tell her my name" and laughing. WTH I just got off the phone with the assistant manager named John who was very nice. Waiting for the manager to call me. I'm in shock. I've never been treated so rudely anywhere at any grocery store. I'm missing all sorts of items btw. Sure hope they fire Diamond. I dont think she enjoys her job and am certain I'm not the only one who has had to endure her inappropriate nasty attitude. I can only assume she's a very unhappy individual. But she's doing Kroger a huge disservice. If anyone treated someone like this at my job they'd be fired on the spot. Just sayin. UPDATE: No call back from manager. Was charged for $27 of groceries I did not receive. Ran back up, sat in my car 10 minutes to watch just because, it was raining. I hated this Kroger for the longest time. I'm still on the fence about it. Most of my Kroger love goes to the Highlands Kroger. There are some things to like about this Kroger though. 1: It only takes a few minutes to walk there from my house. 2: The deli women! When you go there for cold cuts (cue cold cuts song from that one commercial), almost every time, the deli women give me samples. Sometimes they give me so many samples that I could probably do without dinner. 3: Staff? Some of them are friendlier than others. I'd say it's right around 50/50. There are a few cashiers that I absolutely stay away from because they don't speak a word to you, throw my groceries down the belt, smash my bread, & they're very unpleasant. On the upside, the friendlier staff members go the extra mile to check you out with casual conversation. 4: I love that this Kroger keeps the self-checkout lanes open until they're about to close. The only problem? There are numerous times that I've been here & encountered... quite frankly, stupid or inconsiderate shoppers. Cutting you at the self checkout lanes. Hogging the self-checkout lane with a loaded cart(15 items or less people)! Ok, maybe that's not a hard rule but use a little common sense on when & when not to use the self-checkout lanes. 5: This one has a Wine & Spirits shop. Although, I never go into it because I pick up my liquor elsewhere. It's still convenient. 6: The produce is sometimes great while other times not so great. I'm a Lucky's fan boy & as far as I'm concerned Lucky's has the greatest produce in all the land. I'll gladly make the trip out there once a week. 7: This Kroger does seem to have a broader selection to choose from. You want BBQ sauce? How about choosing from this shelf of 50 different kinds? It's that way with many other items as well. 8: Their pharmacy? Although I never use it, I've been there with many people that do use it. From those experiences, they could never make me switch. A lot of times, you drop off your prescription, go back a day or two later, & it's not ready! When it actually is ready, it seems to take an extra amount of time to retrieve it & bring it to you. People have things to do. Get it together. I normally don't go here unless I need to pick up a few things. If I had to do all of my grocery shopping here... then I might go crazy! read more

This is my new local Kroger after moving. After getting used to the totally different layout, it's growing on me (frozen foods in the middle aisles...I was confused). But it is clean, fancy looking, and convenient. My only complaint is with the self check-out, which I always do (because why have 5 bags when they can fit in to 2?). The self check-out stations are VERY small. So if you have more than 2 or 3 bags of groceries it is very difficult to continue with the transaction. But whatever. read more

I really like this Kroger location. I used to live in the Highlands (now I'm in Shelby Park) and I would still drive over to Goss Avenue Kroger rather than the Highlands location. Now, I'm even closer to this store, so this is where we do the majority of our grocery shopping. Kroger is convenient for almost everyone, because they have locations all over Louisville. And in my opinion this is one of the best locations. Plus, they carry everything you could need from a grocery, along with lots of local Kentucky Proud products. They have a great selection of produce, a nice bakery, and lots of easy take-home dinner/snack options. This location also has a wine shop with a pretty good selection. Plus, they have plenty of parking, which is the major draw for me over the Highlands location. (That parking lot is the worst!) If you're in the general area and looking for a place to grab your groceries I definitely recommend this Kroger! read more

This Kroger is second closest to our house and used to be our go to grocery store before ours was remodeled. The only reason I visit now is because I switched to their pharmacy because ours was awful. This worked well for a while. Unfortunately, now their pharmacy is as bad if not worse than the other. I'm giving serious thought to giving up on the Kroger pharmacies altogether. This is unfortunate because the rest of the store is more than acceptable. I'm attaching a photo of a recent line. So I come to Kroger to get gas and the sign says they're open from 9 AM to 11 PM. I go up to the window cuz I have cash. The girl at the window will not accept my cash because she says she had to close 30 minutes early to get stuff done so I had to pull out a credit card cuz she wants to close 30 min early. Not Kroger. I shop at this Kroger regularly. The produce section is decent, bakery lacking, fish department pathetic, beer selection not shabby. Staff is helpful but there is always done sorry of of smell at this store. And for some reason while the store really does seem to be relatively clean, it always gives the impression of being dirty...maybe it is the lingering smell. read more

Like most Louisvillians, I have strong feelings about Kroger locations. This is one of my favorites. Since this is the closest store to my apartment, I shop here the most often. I prefer to grocery shop "European style", meaning that I pick up a small number of items every few days instead of buying in bulk. My fridge is usually bare, but this method tremendously cuts down on food waste, cost in general, and mindless snacking. Kroger: Goss Avenue is a great store for doing some quick shopping! Even though the layout is smaller than most, the produce section and fish/meat counter are well stocked with fresh, high quality ingredients. Due to the demographics of the neighborhood, there is a substantial selection of gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan products that I have not seen at many other Krogers in the city. It is nice to be able to shop for those specific products at Kroger rather than seeking out competitors. I make every effort to take full advantage of the Kroger fuel points system to save big bucks. Once a customer registers a Kroger Plus card, each dollar spent with the company translates to one point, compounded monthly. Points may be redeemed for a discount on Kroger branded fuel. For example, if one spends $500 in store within the month, a 50 cent discount is available for a fill up. The maximum for each month is 1,000 points, equaling $1 off gas. Considering most people could not possibly dream of spending $1,000 in a month at a grocery store, there are a handful of tricks to reach this amount: *Filling prescription medications at the pharmacy results in a 50 points bonus. *Gift cards promotions are constantly running- 2x the points everyday on the amount purchased as well as 4x the fuel points on specific categories around the holidays. *The Kroger app contains a huge catalog of coupons, including ones that allow for doubling of fuel points on an entire transaction. *Most receipts print out with a customer service satisfaction survey attached. In addition to being entered for a $1,000 monthly drawing, 50 fuel points are credited to the customer's account. I am a little picky with my grocery stores just because it's where I buy my food, I want it to be clean, and I always feel like this one is kind of dirty. It is also very crowded which is frustrating. I have never seen the line less than 4 people ahead of me. The aisles themselves are very narrow and it's hard to navigate through the actual store with a full sized cart. Their selection of food is not the greatest compared to a lot of Krogers I've been to. I'm in-between this one and the one on Bardstown road and I will always choose the Bardstown one over this one. read more

I LOVE KROGER! There I said it. I'm envious we don't have them in Chicago, especially one of this caliber. I get living in the city, we don't have the space to house such a large supermarket, but I can still be jealous right? When back visiting friends and family in Louisville, I find myself at this Kroger quite often... if not daily. They way it's laid out makes it SUPER easy to locate exactly what you're looking for. And the options/selection? Don't even get me started. While shopping I couldn't help but say, "Wow, I wish my neighborhood grocery carried this" about a dozen times. It's bright, clean, and beautifully designed. Kentucky liquor laws are unique, so you've got to drop next door to pick up your booze and wine, but it's not a huge inconvenience. The only downside is the parking lot is a nightmare. There is always a traffic jam entering and existing, but don't let that deter you. Compared to other Kroger's throughout Louisville, this one is a step above the rest. They also offer curbside pickup, so you can order your groceries online and have them delivered right to your car. read more

This week I ventured into the Goss Avenue Kroger and I have to say I am not a fan. I have shopped their before but it has been a while. The store is just a few miles from home so I thought I would give it a try. The store is super crowded as in the isles are full of stand alone displays and it is really hard to navigate. I am not a fan of the layout either. When I visited there was not one isle that didn't have at least one person with a large cart or multiple carts re-stocking items on the shelves. I thought that was odd because it was just after lunchtime? I would think they would restock overnight? People were turning around in the isle because they could not get by. You couldn't stop and read a label or compare products. Once I got to the back of the store near the meat and dairy it was the same. I have never seen so many boxes of restock items ever. With so many Kroger stores near downtown I will visit another the next time I make a Kroger run. If it weren't for the great coupons for staple items I usually buy and the discount on gasoline I probably would not shop Kroger but they keep mailing those coupons. read more

Did you ever have that kind of day when there's only an onion and a lemon in the fridge and a half a box of Cheerios in the pantry? Yeah, well, I lead a VERY BUSY LIFE and grocery shopping isn't on my priority list! Lucky for me I live about 2 blocks away from the hipster Kroger. Ever since they added sushi and a liquor store next store the clientele has become so much more interesting. Seriously, you could choose 5 shoppers at random, take them out front and photograph them, and people would swear they were that new indie band in town to play at Headliners. This is totally the place to wear your skinny jeans, ratty scarf and show your tattoos while you're reading labels in the organic aisle. So what if the tofu is always sold out? You've gotta get there early dude. It's small enough to dash in, pick up a few limes, a chicken breast and a bag of salad and head home to the backyard grill and a cool beverage. Dinner is served. As a Germantown resident I frequent the Kroger on Goss quite often... I could call it a "home away from home." I can only compare it to my experience growing up in the Highlands, and going to the Highlands Kroger until about 5 years ago. And man, I was doing life wrong. The Kroger on Goss employs friendly and helpful faces. I often see some of my previous students bagging groceries. I don't really like them bagging my groceries, because I'm picky and efficient with how many bags I use, they always smile and ask if I need help. This specific Kroger underwent months long renovation, while leaving it open. At the time it was super inconvenient. Things were moved on the daily and even though the staff was helpful they did not know where anything was either, lol. But after it was all said and done it looks great now! We have a fancy cheese section, a sushi bar, organic/health food aisles and even A Little Clinic. Fods are still in very weird locations, but the overall experience at the Kroger can far surpass that at the Highlands Kroger. There, people just walk around with scowls on their faces and uppity attitudes waiting for Lakeside to open. I love my Kroger and my neighborhood and all the suddent I have the urgency to go to Kroger... eek! read more
