So I'm definitely impressed with the sheer amount of variety of products this particular Kroger has to offer. Granted I've not shopped at many other Kroger stores here in Louisville, I have shopped at enough to know that this one has more than any I've personally been to. People here were super friendly as far as the associates go. Could use some more self checkout machines and a few more human checkouts as well but outside of that I've been. Etsy pleased with coming here the few times that I have. I really dig the olive bar along with the Murphy's cheese stand which offers a big variety of cheese that I've never even heard of before. I'll say that the environment is that of your typical Kroger but I'd say much busier considering it's on Bardstown Road and close to downtown Louisville so come expecting it to be a very bustling shopping experience. I definitely recommend shopping at this location as I wasn't hassled by anyone and especially not while I was leaving. read more

This is the worst managed store on the face of the earth. They consistently run out of products they have on sale. They seldom have enough check out lanes for the number of customers. The deli department is the worst customer service and the produce is often times not fresh. I don't know who the manager is but he takes ineptness to a whole new level. read more

Relying so much on grocery stores lately, I feel like this has helped me see the parts that shine. And there are definite shiny parts to this Kroger. Among them: * Great cheese selection. This was mentioned in my original review too. It has a great array of cheeses with a clerk usually at the ready to answer questions. * The produce always looks fresh, though I thought it was interesting that in this age of COVID, the area that used to hold trays in the salad bar has been replaced by bags of pretzel chips. * Wonderful international food selection. No, it's not an international supermarket, but there are separate Indian, Asian and Hispanic sections. I had been looking for an Indian sauce, and after striking out at two other Krogers, I found it here. * This Kroger has lots of organic items, as well as a large kosher section. * It also carries more pharmacy items and makeup than some of the other Krogers I've been to lately. I was also able to check out quickly via the U-Scan check-out. My only wish would be that the parking lot was easier to navigate, but I'll take that headache for the great shopping experience I can find here. read more

I usually go to this location Kroger or goes avenue one. This is alright and easy to reach but sometimes they have empty shelves especially fresh produce and fruits and bakery items. This Kroger is clean and have helpful staff. They have number of organic food varieties. I think they have employee shortage like other retails stores so check out lines are usually closed just 2-3 open at a time. I would give 5 stars instead of 4 but I'm tired of seeing empty shelves. read more

While after COVID, there have still been some serious stocking issues, I haven't decided to shop at Aldi, Wal-Mart, etc. (Although, anywhere that has salmon cream cheese -- looking for suggestions.) Yesterday, I dropped off a physical Rx for a common antibiotic and was told it'd take an hour to fill. OK, I'll come back. Came back today and they'd lost the script. There were apologies, but no effort to call the tech I handed the Rx to, etc. They put it back on me to call the vet and get a duplicate. They count people going in and out and have an officer at the entrance to help people understand the new rules in case of confusion. No lines this morning. Kroger on Bardstown Road is one of the better Kroger stores near my downtown residence. The main issue I have with shopping at this location is the access and peril getting into and out of the parking lot. I have learned how to go in the back way because it is dangerous and time consuming to try to enter the parking lot from bustling Bardstown Road. The access and parking situation is the reason I have rated this Kroger 3 stars. They have a great produce section. They also carry the new PrepPared meals which my husband loves to cook - and he does not usually cook! Great for me when he brings one home!! I do occasionally shop at this store although there are other Kroger stores that are more enticing. read more

I have shown up here sweaty from the gym, dressed as Max from 'Where the Wild Things Are," in my pajamas, other people's pajamas, and other unfortunate levels of disrepair. No one looked at me like something was amiss. This has the stuff all the Krogers have but its in the Highlands and everyone is chill so don't expect to zip in and zip out, unless you're dressed for the wild rumpus and people clear out for you. I have had multiple issues with this locations "online delivery" service. They have dropped off my food in the wrong area, dropped off my delivery in the wrong time frame and dropped off my groceries without notification multiple times. I have had to have a refund on items more than once. I'm not normally one to complain, but when I did I got a basic email saying they would give me $5 credit for my stuff being delivered early and sitting out in the heat. My groceries got delivered an hour earlier than I requested and sat out in the heat, as I was on a plane heading home. I requested the specific time slot I did for a reason and there was basically nothing done to resolve this issue. When I said that wasn't going to cut it, I received another basic email with empty words from someone named Janelle. This location is out of items frequently and in general my experience has been very disappointing the last several chances I've given them. I do NOT recommend shipping here or using there services. So fresh and so clean (clean). This is the nicest looking Kroger I've ever entered. I've heard others refer to it as the "hipster" Kroger. It can be a pain to get in and out of the parking lot. I go back and forth on which Kroger I like the best, but the Highlands Kroger wins out almost every time. 24/7? Yes! People complain about parking -- Park in the back of the store! That's the major secret to this location that makes the trip painless. The CVS moved down the street so there's more parking in the front lot now. I've been to this location at all times of the day. Morning. Noon. Afternoon. Evening. Late night. I never have an issue here. -- Morning - You'll have most of the store to yourself with friendlier than average employees. I guess everyone is still asleep! -- Noon - It's normally busy by noon, but I can get in/out within 15-20 minutes on football Sundays when I need something last minute. -- Afternoon - Same as noon. People are definitely awake by this time. -- Evening - Also a crowd, but manageable. I suspect the people that go in the evening(myself being one of those) are efficient. They know what they need. Pick up a basket at the door. They bounce around the store and checkout in record times. -- Late Night - It's always interesting. Late night is when you'll run into the stock team. Boxes are usually every where, but you can still navigate. You're also likely to smell marijuana and alcoholics as you walk up and down the aisles. I call this Stoner Snack Time. They finally keep the self checkout open for most of the night! For the longest time, they'd shut down self checkout around 10 PM! Annoying. You'll also find a decent selection here. The remodel a few years ago helped this location out. If I had one complaint, it'd be the deli area. I wish it was more organized. If you go during a busy time, you might be waiting if you need something from the deli. They do have a kiosk so that you can shop while you wait, but I've never had much luck with it. On most occasions there will be a huge group in front of the deli. No line or sense of organization at all. They could take advice from the Germantown Kroger on that front. read more

This Kroger, although seems like it's not as big on the outside as it is on the inside is very nice. I thoroughly enjoyed my shopping experience here. I came in to grab some dinner from the salad bar, and upon entry, there was a live performance going on. Which is neat to have at a grocery store.The salad bar selection was great as well! read more

I normally don't come to this Kroger unless I'm driving through the Highlands and need to grab a few things. It's a lot smaller than my usual ones and the parking is very cramped and is right off of a busy road. However, when I did live downtown I would typically come to this Kroger (pretty much because it was between this and the Central Ave Kroger, which is just a no-no.) It's a fine location to go to if you live around the area though. read more

I do not have a lot to go off of, but a trip to the money center. Most customer service lines I have ever been in were very slow and the worker seemed unhappy to be there. This was one of the best experiences I have ever had at a customer service center. The line moved very quickly, and the Service was friendly. This Kroger location is ok, but I prefer the Goss Avenue location. I used to live in the Highlands (now I'm in Shelby Park) and I would still drive over to Goss Avenue Kroger rather than the Highlands location. This location is convenient if you're in the area though, so sometimes I still find myself stopping in here. They do have a great selection of produce, a nice bakery, and lots of easy take-home dinner/snack options. Honestly, my least favorite thing about this location is the parking. Their parking lot is the worst! It's small and difficult to navigate, and it's always full of people who seem to be having trouble driving around it, thus causing more issues. If you're in the Highlands area and looking for a place to grab your groceries this Kroger will do, but if you can make it over to Goss Avenue I would recommend that location instead. read more

This is my grocery store if I have to buy stuff. It's a Kroger with all the expected items with an occasional surprise of imported items. The fruits and vegetables are generally fresh - sometimes there's a bad "egg" in there, but just don't pick that one. It's 24/7. That's pretty awesome. And it's clean. That being said, now that it isn't 1/2 mile from my house I avoid it, and happily hit up the Goss Kroger or even down Poplar by the shady K-Mart. Until last week, when needing a prescription filled after being right next door, it seemed only logical. I was wrong. At 3:50, before the after work rush, I still waited patiently for an hour, and then impatiently for another 30 minutes before getting my cough syrup and antibiotic. I got groceries and waited. Repeated trips to the restroom to blow my nose. Repeated trips to the water fountain to try to sooth my super angry throat. I sat right there. I asked nicely. I left exhausted and angry, which is a very rare emotion for me. Don't get me wrong. The produce section is pretty solid. Prices are quite reasonable. But almost everytime I go, I leave irritated. It is almost always crowded, like being at Wal-Mart, which is why I try to go to Kroger or ValuMarket in the first place. The parking lot set up is a total nightmare, and for the love of God, don't try to turn left. Head towards the back of the store and take that side road and just wait out the super long light. Not. The parking lot is a true test of your agility when yuppies come flying through in their Pruis' trying to get a front spot. I just park in the way back to avoid it. I like that the cheese and olive selection is good, and that it's right in my face when I walk in. ( I love cheese ) The produce manager does a good job. Seafood you say? Watch out there... 2 times now I've had to throw out what I bought. Like, offensive stank status. Red meats, Chicken, pork, etc... Never really had any issues there. Milk options are usually sold out, especially organic. The rest of the store is good, clean and well stocked. Beer selection is pretty good for a Kroger too. If the clearance section was larger, I'd be here way more often. So for now, I cheat on my neighborhood Kroger with other Kroger's, Whole Foods, and Trader Joes. I like consistency. read more

I buy my groceries here. It's OK. I would probably give this place 5 stars if it weren't for three things: 1) The meat / fish / poultry counter leaves a lot to be desired. It reminds me of the grocery store I used to go to with my mom when I was a small child. That was over 20 years ago. I never thought I would be spoiled by a similar (chain) grocery store in St. Louis, but I was. You could buy aged meat there, and they always had a good selection of kabobs and steaks. The one time I tried buying meat at Kroger, I waited 15 minutes and then got one of the worst strips I have ever eaten in my life. Fair enough to say that I threw it out and that has never happened before. 2) Their parking lot is a JOKE. What city planner decided to have only two entrance points to this store - both from Bardstown Rd? Note to noobz - you can park in the back of the store and it's usually much easier. However, the "front" parking lot (shared with CVS) is almost always a disaster (unless you shop here at 8 AM on a Sunday). 3) Inventory management - how many times have I gone here only to find out they are out of Chobini greek yogurt? The bakery department have the worst communication and customer service ever. I went in person on a Monday and placed an order for my daughter's birthday cake. I was told the cake would be ready for pick up Friday and someone would reach out Wednesday by phone to confirm. I received a phone call Saturday instead from the baker telling me the cake is ready for pick up, the day after my daughter's birthday. The baker was so rude and very upset ! When she called Saturday In her words "she spent two hours on the cake". Luckily I was able to order a cake with such short notice Wednesday from Dixie Kroger. Best Kroger on Bardstown! This is my second favorite Kroger to Westport Road. I love the produce selection, the deli, and the meat selection. I like the fact they have an organic and local section. I also enjoy the Mediterranean bar and artisan bread selection. There is not a large beer and wine selection, but I typically shop down the street at the wine store. The reason this store does not get five stars is the parking lot. They share their parking with a CVS and for a busy Bardstown location it is impossible not have a hard time parking. read more

As I wandered around and recalled a few familiar departments, I suddenly remembered I haven't been in this Kroger since before I retired 3 years ago. It was always chaotic, but now it feels even more so and I partially blame that on some current construction they're doing (and I'm unsure how much longer that will last). Seems there will be a system enabling you to scan your items while you shop, then you'll get to a special checkout area to complete the procedure. Interesting and hope to see that at other stores (Anything to speed up grocery shopping, which is something we have to do, but that doesn't mean I have to like it). Anyway, where was I? One thing I disliked was that sense of claustrophobia. It might have been due to them doing a lot of stocking in the middle of the day, which - when combined with customers - can make even a large area seem tighter. I didn't have much to pick up, and I was able to locate some things easier than others. The produce department was especially packed, but one chief thing is that everything out was fresh-appearing; there occasionally might not have been a lot (one reason for the restocking), but what I saw - whether I was purchasing or perusing it - was in great condition. That, along with good prices, is what I ask of any grocery. The bakery thankfully still had a nice supply of freshly baked artisan bread. Other breads I had sought out to use a digital coupon were either out or I just wasn't able to find them due to the setup as the loaves or rolls were just kind of placed in a haphazard manner on the small section of shelves. I also gave up on polenta in the rice/pasta specialty department; although I knew I was in the right aisle, a package of instant was over with the pasta, while a rolled form was found with specialty flours. I guess there's a logic to the madness, but I gave up on locating the one brand I had wanted. For the most part, I found what I was looking for, but it was a bit of a trial, giving me flashbacks of my usual McMahan Kroger. If I was in the neighborhood to shop there again, I wouldn't mind checking it out in the early morning when there isn't as much of a crowd and the restocking is complete. Maybe I'd be able to find my way around more. I'd also love to shop with this new scanner wand when it goes into effect - I enjoy playing with new technology. We'll see. I really like this Kroger. It's huge, and has a lot of interesting items. There is a lot of parking since there are lots and entrances in front of and behind the store. I visited today to buy some juice for a healthy lunch (and get some cash back), but was absolutely enthralled by the cheese department. I don't know how many kinds of cheese they have. Hundreds?
