6-23-24 Sunday afternoon Came with my husband to check out the store as I have many neighbors raving about the place. But mostly about the bar and you can drink while shopping or your husband can drink and you shop. I don't know about that but I do know it is a big store with lots of items and brands. The store is clean and organized. We fell upon one aisle that had drink containers that we learned from a fellow shopper that they are all $6.99 all items that are priced up to $24.95. I asked if you needed a coupon and they said it was to celebrate Hydration Day. Sure why not hubby picked one out. We passed the wine and beer bar and it was packed. Hubby and I both thought it was odd. We both even took pictures and laughed as we both rather drink elsewhere but to each his own as they say. On to the deli as I wanted something different for hubby's lunches. As he was online for his beloved Boar's Head I beelined over to the prepackaged cheeses. All the Sargento 10 and 11 ounce packages $2. Each what a great sale. I left with one of each. Before checking out I headed over to Customer Service to apply for a rewards card. However while waiting online I figured it out myself on my phone. Hubby and I self checked out that included a conveyor belt interesting haven't seen that before. As a previous 66 year old employee At Krogers, I was expected to cashier, bag, clean spills, and take responsibility for confusing advertising. Krogers uses special needs baggers. So when I did have a bagger to assist me, I was required to Tolerate endless chatter, and emotional issues. All said, the special needs baggers were so much kinder than the management. The management at my Kroger's is extremely autocratic. Customer service employees wear badges that say, "I match Energy". Arrogance, And a superior attitude coupled with, the customer is a thief and is always wrong, seemed to be the prevailing attitude amongst the upper management. Largest Kroger I've ever seen. Seems like this store has everything and nearly on par with many Wegman's I've visited. Nice gourmet cheese selection and upgraded bakery from most Kroger's as well. Store was very well kept and clean. Highlight of this Kroger by far? BEER and WINE DEN!!! Yep, it has a walk up bar with killer low insane prices. Maybe 10 craft beers or so on tap and all are 3 bucks for a pint except super special releases like Mexican Cake from Westbrook that will run you 5 per full pour. See my pic for the draft list the day we went. Additionally, they do crazy cheap wine pours. This was a huge, huge discovery for me. I've been to lots of Lowe's Foods with beer dens, but their prices can't compare. Talked to my local Lowe's Beer Den manager dude and he says at 3 bucks a pint they are barely making a profit on most beers. Finally, the Beer Den at this location has two different beer tenders in their 70's...Bert and Ben, and these 2 dudes alone are worth the price of admission. My wife and I sat down and had a couple beers and met some cool people and had super entertaining conversation with both Ben and Bert. Great, great dudes and Kroger is lucky to have them both. Tip them well!!! Oh and I forgot...you can walk around the store drinking either your beer or wine...they just have to pour it into a plastic cup for you. My review would've been so much better than this but the issue I had this morning and it's only 6:22 AM. White guy was walking before me into the store. Of course you know I'm a black woman little Chinese man who is always on his earpiece he always is talking on his phone, which is so unprofessional. He broke his behind to say good morning to the white man when I walked in first of all, he stood in my way and he swept up up the street and then he moved. Did he open his mouth to speak to the black woman no, he did not and I think that's pretty rude. You know you get a lot of racism in Bluffton, but I'm sick and tired of being quiet about it. I am tired and then when you check out in the store, they always act like you're stealing. I hate it. I really do. I used to be a Publix shopper. But a new Kroger opened in the same shopping center. This Kroger is designed as a shopping experience. They have a sushi bar, a pizza spot, grab and go meals, a full butcher shop... oh lest I forgot a stand alone Starbucks!!! (I can hear the cheering). If you're shopping right, you go get your Starbucks and while you shop, enjoy the liquid gold!!! Oh did I forget, no I didn't, there is a wine bar... wait I'll say that again... they have a WINE BAR!!! So if you don't feel like coffee, you can grab a glass of wine instead. The store is clean and organized and they pretty much have everything. Kitchen accessories, toys, health and beauty, home decor... one stop shopping at its best!!! Kroger Buckwalter has clothing, shoes... it really is a one stop shop!!! So during Covid and staying home, when my husband says he's going to Kroger, I get up and go too!!! Oh and if you want to order your groceries and pick them up, their app is great!!! I've done it a few times and thoroughly enjoy the no contact pick up process!!! This is the new local flagship store for Kroger. This store is huge!!! This store carries a wide variety of brands with a much different layout than most of their other stores. There are multiple entrances depending on whether you're there for clothing and other durable goods, or just for groceries. I would venture to say there are contrasts to both WalMart and Wegmans. As expected, the store is very clean and it didn't seem to be too crowded for a Saturday afternoon. Very convenient to folks in Okatie, Hardeeville and Sun City. I only came to get St. Louis spare ribs which they unfortunately didn't carry. They were running a special on their baby back ribs instead. I didn't really take a lot of time to peruse through the store, but did see they had a large beer and wine section as well. They also had a much wider selection of items compared to the Towne Center store. read more

What a disappointment. I had been reading all the updates during the construction of this store, and it was obvious as news sources had mentioned in the past, that not being able to fill positions was a problem. It even delayed the opening. This giant store was mostly empty on a Thursday afternoon. They had all this seating for people to dine in but all I saw was a Starbucks (yawn), a pizza station, and a lot of tired looking fried chicken drying out under heat lamps. (Double yawn). The bakery looked like it had a fire sale. Huge displays almost void of any bread, bagels or other items. Nothing looked too fresh or appetizing. The atmosphere felt more like a warehouse then a full service and then some grocery. The bar in the alcoholic beverage area seemed silly and out of place. I suppose someone who can't manage a grocery visit without imbibing might appreciate this service, but I didn't get it. Wine tasting or beer tasting for featured products sure, but a belly up to the bar scene seemed like an unnecessary add on. Kroger has given me zero reasons to frequent this store. I will happily continue to shop at my local Publix on Lady's Island. read more

I had a very bad experience at our local Kroger Store located at: 27 Discovery Place, Bluffton SC. I had gone to the store to purchase some razor blades which are often on sale. I noticed that certain cases of drinking water were also on sale along with certain laundry detergents. Both the razor blades and laundry detergent were listed on the shelf as "buy two at a reduced price". When I reached the checkout, the clerk's register charged the full price on everything but the drinking water. I pointed that error out and she looked in the coupon books and other info available to her. She couldn't find any info so said she'd have to ask the manager. She left her checkout station and disappeared for about 5 minutes. People who were lined up behind me to check out were becoming extremely agitated as they had stuff piled up all over the check-out belt and didn't want to leave their place in line. When the checkout clerk finally returned, she apologized to everyone in-line and then wrang up the correct dollar amounts. I thanked her for having made the correction which was close to a $18.00 discount on just those two items. On leaving, I told her that I would like to speak to the Manager before leaving the Store and that it was nothing derogatory about her. She said the manager was not in today, but the Assistant Manager's name was Amy and pointed to where she was working. I went to the spot where Amy was located and waited in line until she was free. I told her that the store had an issue and pointed out that items being purchased should reflect the proper "sale price". I told her about the two items that "wrang up" incorrectly" when I checked out. At this point, she got a little haughty with me for having said that......then I said to her: "Someone is not doing their job correctly". That statement seemed to make her very angry, so I started in on her in a slightly elevated voice, but I did not use any foul language, I asked for the General Manager's name which she refused to give me and then she asked me to leave the store. In my opinions, this Amy, the so-called Assistant Manager, should not be managing anyone or anything. It will be a long time before I return to this store. I have been a Kroger shopper for a long time and never encountered such a rude employee. read more

I became aware of two interesting marketing techniques this weekend: -We had a number of items (beer, drinks, etc) that the checker said couldn't be scanned. He "offered" to estimate a price and input - issue was his "estimate" always a buck or two higher than listed price. -Several items had a price marked with unreadable print underneath. Found out the small print had the true price, in many cases 2-3x the marked price. Guessing that many did not pay attention and ended up paying significantly more than anticipated. Worst shopping ever. Episode 1. Stood for 20 minutes at the deli counter while being ignored by the 2 clerks busy chatting. Episode 2. Waited 15 minutes for chicken while the clerk was busy chatting with friends. Episode 3. Bagger too busy talking about her phone app to pay attention. Put 6 bottles of wine in paper bags while I had a wine bag in front of her. Episode 4. Same bagger out my "bake it" loaf of bread UNDER a bunch of bananas so it broke in half. Episode 5. Clueless staff at the meat counter who had no idea what a filet of beef is. These were all separate instances. I only go because a frequent guest likes a wine only available at your store. Wow! What a store! I just moved here from NC, and I have never seen a grocery store quite like this. I could spend hours inside. They are stocked with anything and everything you may need. I wish more checkout lines would be open, as the self-checkout lines get rather congested when there are not any cashier lines open. I love this Kroger though, and am so happy it is my local store now! read more

This is the most unorganized, understaffed Kroger! At 7PM on a Saturday night they had 2 cashiers and 0 baggers. Both lines were 5 deep and there were long lines at the self check which were having issues. We spoke to the manager who stated that this was a "Union Issue" and he was not allowed to hire any more staff. He also stated that he couldn't "force his staff to stay" and that it was better "not to shop in the evening." Really??? We will not return. read more

I went to guest services to cash a check and the lady was rude, acted like was so put out by having to wait on me. I had written mobile deposit only because I had attempted to deposit by mobile. It didn't work, so I thought they could help me. She got really annoyed and said we don't accept that like I was an idiot. No more shopping at THIS Kroger. Management is lousy. I have waited in long lines here many times. In some cases, I've called the customer service desk while standing there waiting, to inform them of the long lines and that they need to open more lanes. Instead of saying, "Thank you for letting us know", each time their attitude was NOT consumer friendly. In fact, the last time she hung up on me, which was after she told me that she was the manager. It that's the case, I feel sorry for the other employees. We lived by an outstanding Kroger for many years. I know what this Kroger could be. No one seems to care behind the desk. Kroger is clean, veg's are fresh, pretty good pricing. Most everything you need, easy to get around the store, well laid out.

This store is modern, a convenient location, and has most everything you could want! Fresh organic produce at a fair price is important to me, and this store does a good job of that. Keep it up! I know that everyone has bad days, but everything that could've gone wrong, went wrong. First off, my pick up time was between 4-5. When I was going to the app to mark that I was 15 minutes away, I noticed the pick-up check-in box was gone. I checked my email and saw an email from Kroger saying "Your order is all done! Tell us how we did." This was implying that I had picked up my order, which I hadn't. I called Kroger and they said they accidentally gave my order to someone else, but that person was on their way back to the store with my groceries. I was confused, but ok. They told me to come back and get them. I get there and the guy gives me my receipt and begins loading the groceries in the car. I look at the receipt and notice that it is not my order and has a different name on it. I tell the guy and he tells me that this was the lady's order who had my order, and that they were confused. He takes the groceries out and tells me that he will be back with my order. He comes back and tells me that the person who has my groceries isn't back yet, and that I'll need to wait here. I said ok. The lady gets here, he takes my groceries from her car, and gives her the correct order. He comes back to my car to let me know that the lady didn't realize she had the wrong order until she got inside her home. She said that she brought all of the groceries inside of her home and that there was a Covid case going on in her home. The guy comes back to my car to let me know and said that I will need to wait there until he can shop for my new order. I asked for no substitutions, and when he brings me my correct order, he says "There was no more Italian blend, so I brought you American blend, I hope that's fine." I have never been more dissatisfied with a Kroger pick-up. I was offered no discounts or anything, and find it appalling that they would freely give me my groceries that were given to someone else, especially during a time like today with viruses going on, and who knows if she could have syringed my food with God-knows what. read more
