A fun experience to shop the family owned kind of business and oldest grocery store on the island! They have great local food favorites and also have super souvenir items. It's a fun place with their local series Tshirts and wearables, etc. The food is fresh and awesome! I was noticing today how much better their produce was than the big box store I shopped yesterday! They also didn't have boiled peanuts from a local favorite vendor at the big box store - but they had it here at the piggly wiggly! Did I mention the personal Servce? That differed from the box store too. Yesterday at the big box grocery store - I had a grumpy attendant who made me move lines because she was getting ready to shut her line down. She wasn't pleasant and was sorta rude about it - but at the piggy wiggly we were met with friendly folks all around. I noted that they really have the local feel including a care fund for a local customer who has health issues and also support of a charity event that provides food and health care for underprivileged children. I always prefer locally owned places when I can find them and I'm glad I stopped by - we will be back! read more

Super cute supermarket in the heart of Hilton Head (Coligny area). I mean it's called the Piggly Wiggly! I even bought an adorable shirt for my son. They have an entire section devoted to their merchandise (shirts). The supermarket hasn't been updated in quite sometime but it was a perfect stop for us to grab food, snacks, essentials and even some beach toys. It's definitely a one stop shop. Rating is purely on the merch here. If you've vacationed in Hilton Head, then you've probably been to the Piggly Wiggly in Coligny Plaza a time or two...or three. Every time I go to Piggly Wiggly, I always get a new shirt or Koozie or some type of Merch. This store has the charm of a small town grocery store. You're not going to find an updated or flashy grocery store, but you will find essentials for those that are on vacation. You can get everything you need from pantry items to beer and wine, to obviously their merch. I will say that Piggly Wiggly knows the way to a tourist's heart: with a fun nostalgic t-shirt in all sizes, colors, and options. They have everything from onesies, to kids shirts, to adult short sleeve shirts, tye dye options, to sweatshirts, plastic cups, Koozies, drinkware, etc. I love the vintage looking shirts and all the different color options they have! I also love that many of the shirt styles are the super soft type of shirts. Prices are in line with what you'd expect from a restaurant/bar/merch. Don't forget to get your pic with Mr. Piggly Wiggly himself outside of the store (it's a wooden sign). read more

Prices are less than Harris Tweeter but the selection is less too. It is a great place to get a quick bite to cook in the kitchen. Most of the employees were at the checkout stands. The store was clean but appeared a little cluttered. read more

The Piggly Wiggly in Coligny Plaza is, for me, one of the reasons to vacation in Hilton Head. It's quirky & interesting and yet still has all the stuff you might expect. Not as cheap as one of the supermarkets but it's so worth the experience. Check out the great merch as well. read more

Decent location with a plethora of goodies. I was surprised by the product section with so many appetizing fruit and veggies. A fairly extensive selection of wines as well. It is amazing how much food we seem to be going through on this weekend and so here's another stop. This time, we picked up two bottles of wine. The store is small and densely packed. They have put an entire supermarket into this footprint including produce, beer and wine, butcher, frozen, canned goods, personal care and such. I thought prices were good. We were shuffling around the seafood counter trying to decide what fish to purchase for dinner when the fishmonger spoke up and told us exactly which fish she recommended, and why. We were delighted to try a new fish (hogfish- sounds horrible but it was FANTASTIC!) Cozy (her name, no I did not make that up) even told us how to cook the fish "unsalted butter- no blackened seasoning ) and suggested a great side dish (Mexican street corn). Poor selection and quality at vacation prices. They have a fairly large selection of wine given how small the store is. Produce is bad. I got a bag of snap peas, some mushrooms, and a bag of carrots and all were rotten when I opened them the next day. The mushrooms were slimy and gross, some of carrots were edible but others were slimy and rotten, and the whole bag of snap peas was inedible and left a horrid rotten taste in my mouth. The only thing worth buying here are the shirts. There are other places nearby to get groceries- go there instead. read more

The primary reason I go to Piggly Wiggly is for their local beer selection. In my opinion, it's one of the best selections on the island that I found. Another reason I like to go here is the fresh local seafood. I ordered 2 pounds of shrimp a couple of days ago, and they were very very good. There were a few items that were not in stock, but overall I was able to find everything I needed, and it appeared to be reasonably price. I love the kettle corn near the registers. It's five dollars and I love it. I didn't realize they closed at 9 PM. So I was pretty close one night getting in to the time they were closing, but the management was very accommodating. read more

Terrible service. Closed their doors 10 minutes before closing time (8pm). The hours on google said open until 8:30, and when we brought it up, an employee snapped at us to look at the sign on the door (fair but unwarranted in the moment). We mentioned all we needed to buy was a lighter and were rudely told to go to a gas station instead.... I've worked in grocery stores before and would never have treated potential customers this way. Awful experience!! May have just been a particular employee but I hope Piggly Wiggly is able to notice this employee's behavior and correct it. read more

I had come here to get some baked chicken for lunch on the beach and apparently I wasn't the only one with that idea because they were sold out. So I got the ribs. I like ribs but not so much from a grocery store. As I laid down my two containers of ribs the woman at the register asked me if I ever had them and I said no. She said they're one of the best I'll ever have. You know what? She was dead on 100% correct. Damn, these are from a grocery store? Tender, not saucy, with a little pull, really good! I haven't had ribs anywhere else on the island because I'm here for seafood and fish but these ribs will have me coming back. read more

When you find yourself needing a few grocery items, but don't want to stray far from the beach this is your place. It is right in the middle of a shopping area so parking is hit and miss, but you'll probably find yourself wondering into the other stores anyway. This place is as close to a hometown feel as you can find at Hilton Head. The friendly team, the regional items, the touristy stuff (t-shirts especially) just make it feel like you are hanging out with the locals. We were looking for a fresh, local seafood market when someone suggested Piggly Wiggly. "Um, what?!" The man told us that a seafood market has been open within Piggly Wiggly since the 1970s. So, we checked it out - and were glad we did. It's called Fish & Tails. Plenty of local, fresh seafood - grouper, flounder, shrimp, etc. There are signs to tell you what's fresh and local and what's farm raised (salmon). Our first night, we bought some black grouper which was expensive at $24.99 a pound, but worth every single penny. We went back today and got a pound of shrimp for about $10. They steamed it in old bay for free - made for great shrimp cocktail to eat with the leftover grouper. I would have never thought this was inside the Piggly Wiggly - and we're so thankful for the recommendation by a random stranger. read more
