I came in today for a lil Kroger sandwich. There were two people already in line before me. Then one more guy came. It was one lady making sandwiches. After 10 min of standing in line, I started to look around to see what the other employees were doing behind the counter. There were 3! As I looked around nobody was doing anything . So I'm kinda looking like ummmm where's her help to get the line down. One band, one sound....right? But anywho I literally waited like 25 min for a sandwich. This Kroger is in a strip mall. Parking isn't too hard to find unless you're handicapped, like me--then it can be a challenge. The store is pretty basic, but all of the household/personal items are in a plexiglass cage, which is weird and can also be frustrating, as there is only one way in and out. read more

The store itself is really nice. The only Kroger I know that gives out free samples! The layout is nice and it's convenient having the pnc bank inside. My only complaint is the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting. If it weren't an emergency I would've just gone to the citgo next door to use their restroom. There was a pregnancy test in the stall, pretty much all toilets were left unflushed and it was totally trashed. I recommend using the bathroom anywhere else before using this one read more

Stopped to pick up some fresh vegetables and fruit for the week. Not the best time of the day I guess 6:45 pm to be doing it but I figure they would have some left or had replenished there stock. I was eyeing grapes( looks like they were ransacked) Strawberries ( only 3 packages left and half that were in the container were rotten) oranges ( ok I think I got 2 fresh ones, I'll find out tomorrow) carrots ( baby carrots that were still frozen) I just stopped there. Took what I though I could manage with and hoped my hotel had some fresh fruit in the morning , which thankfully they did. Poor produce. Not a good experience. read more

Zip code should NOT be the determining factor to the customer service received from Kroger or any business. I should be able to support my local Kroger and not travel across town to Vinings or the Howell Mill location to get decent service. This Kroger is the worst! I have lived in the area for over a decade and intentionally strive to support the local businesses in my neighbor where I pay taxes. I routinely visit the grocery store on a weekly basis during the 6-10 AM hours. In the past, I spoke to the store manager about his lack of customer service because as a regular customer he did not even acknowledge my presence when he would pass me in the store with at least a "hi/good morning" greeting. Upon entrance, the security guard would be busy on his phone and also didn't greet customers. This has improved since I brought this to their attention. Before and after COVID-19, this store does not keep wipes for customers to sanitize the carts. This store is located in an underserved area where many community members are at a higher risk of disparate health conditions. Therefore, is important for this store to care and consider their community members and enhance their sanitary measures. On September 13, 2020, I submitted a comment via the online portal, requested to be contacted via email, received an email stating "Your comments have been successfully entered. If you have chosen to be contacted, we strive to respond within 48 hours." However, today is September 29th and I've yet to be contacted. This is totally unacceptable customer service. Pros: The majority of staff (cashiers, stockers, etc.) are friendly, greet customers, and provide professional service. Since the global pandemic, the store requires mask and practice 6-feet social distancing in the checkout lines. This location is well stocked and often have items, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, that other Kroger locations lack. read more

The deli department is the worst. No customer service skills. Every time a go there I get so frustrated. 4 people working, but you still have wait while they chi chat among themselves. Okay. Let's go. There is nothing (much) wrong with this Kroger. I said it. I stand by it. I'm not going into the "area" of town. It's SW Atlanta. Welcome. We haven't been completely gentrified yet, oh but there are signs, and it's going to happen. Not sure where all the neighborhood "folk" will be scattered to then, but at that time, no one will really care, just as no one cares about most of them now. The store is clean. It always has really nice contemporary alternaR&B playing (Jill Scott, Algebra, etc.), and I can usually find what I need. I DO double check expiration dates, but I do that quite often anyway. I have noticed some really bad, UGLY looking fish in the seafood counter that just should have been thrown out. I've also noticed that sometimes there is only ONE carton of spring mix greens left on the produce space (a hint to order more, perhaps?). The people shopping seem a lot like you and me. I often see firefighters, I've seen two local political dignitaries (in street clothes), lots of dignified elderly shoppers (with VERY nice vehicles parked outside, might I add), and yes- Bebe and her kids are there, too sometimes. And? I've yet to be approached for money in the parking lot, or seen anyone lurking around my car. I must add a disclaimer here: I also don't go at night- lol! I wouldn't. I've only had decent, bordering on efficient, staff help me. Clearly, they've improved. Rashida and Rayshevonne (??) over in the Bakery and Deli area the BEST! I really like them! Here's an issue that I plan to write Kroger Corporate about, as I feel strongly about it. I LOOOOOOVE Edgewood Kroger/Hipster Kroger!!!!!! It's about 13 minutes from me, and some traffic. This Kroger is 7 minutes from me, and no traffic. At Edgewood Kroger in the deli, I can get a nice piece of salmon with spinach and choose from a variety of sides. If I want I can choose beef, chicken, lasagna, turkey, and there are so many sides that I can do a side or veggie plate. At THIS Kroger, my Kroger, ALL there is is- wait for it: CHICKEN. Don't laugh. Well. Ok. Go ahead. Laugh. There's fried chicken, whole; fried chicken, wings, fried chicken, tenders; baked chicken; bbq chicken; and some kind of stewed chicken. The "sides" are all dried up and just disgusting looking. I saw several people walk up, look, and walk away. Then, several poor seniors walked up, patiently waited, and bought that disgusting-ness. I asked a clerk when she would be refreshing the pans, as it was 4:40pm, and approaching the dinner hour, and her response was, "oh, that's it. we won't be fixing anymore. we break that down at 7". I looked at my watch. Then, she replied, "we might maybe put out some more sides". I asked if she thought maybe they should stir the pans or something. Then, I gave up, eased over, snapped some photos, and let it go. Anyway, this is my Kroger. I came into Kroger which is my FAVORITE grocery store to get baby milk and the store manager Ms.Williams who had the keys refused to unlock the isle of baby products. It was 10:30 and the store closes at 11:00pm. During this time she was just walking around with a nasty attitude; which isn't professional. It was 2 lines full and everything was shut down including self checkout. The store manager (Ms.Williams) only allowed one cashier and still refused services such as change back for an elderly customer who didn't have a card for payment. She told the cashier to decline his payment which was odd because thats not making the store close any faster. As I waited for a long period of time in line for all of that she still refused to give me baby milk even when I had a understanding and positive attitude and told her it was an emergency She was very vile and said "thats your emergency not mines." She honestly had other customers Infuriated. I've work with Kroger's for several years even as a floor supervisor and have never seen this before. If you received the employment of a Kroger's store manager you should have some type of courtesy for the customer which is Kroger's main policy. Be honest she should get at least a write up because it was very unfortunate that particular night for me and my 5month year old baby. Do you know how hard it is as a working mom coming home with no baby milk and you can't breast feed? I was very disappointed. read more

I hate that this is my closest grocery store, yet alone closest Kroger, and I'm terrified to go here alone...first of all there's like a damn mini-Buford Highway-esque flea market mall that you have to walk through before you even GET to the groceries and I just find that weird and uncomfortable. Like seriously, HOW MANY wireless stores do you need in ONE shopping center?! But I guess it's good for one stop shopping; you can get your cat foodz, wigs, prepay cellular, AND high top fade all in the same place... And if you're trying to run in and run out of this Kroger, good luck. The damn parking lot is always crunk as hell, there's people EVERYWHERE...I mean this place is BUSY. And the damn store is so big you'll get a damn cramp running from one side to the other! Damn I just needed some butter and I've got blisters on my feet! That is its one saving grace: SIZE. This Kroger is MASSIVE but I see why now; it's serving all of the south western quadrant of Atlanta! Oh Katherine D, when can we get a better grocery store than the Ghetto Kroger?!? I am pretty terrified to go here by myself. As a matter of fact, it must be a very sunny day between the hours of 12:00 and 4:00 PM for me to even CONSIDER going to Ghetto Kroger. And even then, I take my rings off before heading over. The parking lot is the scariest part. Dirty, gross and full of pigeons. It's not uncommon to get approached by beggars, who are usually harmless, but seriously why do I have to get asked for money when I'm just going to buy some freaking groceries? Shopping carts get stolen from this Kroger. Yeah, like the WHOLE supply of carts. Once, my husband called me from Ghetto Kroger laughing, telling me all the shopping carts had been stolen. It was a pretty big deal for GK that day. Let me just say that once you get past the sleaze in the parking lot, the inside of the store is decent. The clientele on the inside is not necessarily reflective of that in the parking lot. The store is not sparkly, nor can you find lemongrass or cubanelle peppers here. You might get lucky if they have cilantro. And Katherine D. is right about the meat selection--if you need anything more than catfish or ground beef you better go elsewhere. But for all the basics, this is the place for the southside. Now, I have never purchased a decorated cake from their bakery. But let me just give a shout-out to Mary, the cake decorator. She is the nicest lady on earth, and has been entertaining me with her cake-decorating skills since I was a wee child when my mom would hold me up over the cake counter to watch her handiwork. So it's not in the best section of town, but as far as Krogers go...it was well stocked, big, clean, nicely presented produce, bakery and meats. The check out staff was very friendly. I stopped in on my way to Marietta (the store is right off I-85) from the airport ahead of visiting friends in Marietta to pick up some flowers for my friend's wife and look for a nice bottle of (real) Champagne for us to enjoy later on. The florist section was right there in front, but the wines were harder to find, thus the scenic tour around the store until I found the section. The florist section was well stocked and I picked up a great looking dozen roses for $15. To the wine section I saw a nice selection and found a great bottle of Piper-Heidsieck Brut Cuvee usually priced at $57, but (with a Kroger card of course) for $34. What a deal! I should have bought a few. One observation I found ironic was that despite this store being in a 'bad' neighborhood, the expensive champagne was there out in the open. I just walked up, picked it up off the shelf and off I went to the checkout. In other Krogers I had been to up in Suwanee, Cumming and south in Peachtree City...all 'good' neighborhoods... the expensive stuff is locked up in secured cabinets. read more

This supermarket is located on the corner of Metropolitan Parkway (Stewart Avenue) and Cleveland Avenue right off of I-85. It's right in the heart of the hood, and you will see these types of people inside as well as outside of the store. I felt that the grocery store was clean and nicely organized. I didn't have any problems with finding things. I don't shop at Kroger on a regular basis (I'm more of a Publix type of guy) so I can't make comparisons to other Kroger locations. But this store has everything a typical supermarket has. As far as the customers, they mostly are your local working-class men and women that are just providing for their families. However, due to this location, there are security here present 24 hours. Additionally, there are panhandlers outside that may or may not ask for money. I got accosted by a guy that wanted two bucks as I was loading my bags in the trunk of my car. While it is unlikely that you'll get robbed, just be aware of your surroundings. I like the store enough to the point that I will return if need be. read more

My neighborhood has taken to calling this the "Crack Kroger" although Ghetto Kroger works also. If you enjoy cruising your low-rider through parking lots, sifting through bruised and pre-sampled produce, fighting through abandon carts in the aisles, dodging items that packs of marauding children are throwing at each other and standing in an express checkout lane for 45 minutes while the three ladies in front of you argue about the price of each of their 50 items, then this is the Kroger for you. Well. This is one of the Kroger stores that I shopped at as teenager. This location is a CITY CENTER and is bigger than the one in Clayton County. I remember coming to this location and going to the other location near Clayton State University/College I guess depending on if my parents needed to get their shoes repaired or maybe go to the bank on a Saturday morning. The inside of the store has several small stores located at the front or entrance of the store. There's a tax place, a bank, a shoe repair store, a nail salon, a beauty supply store, a barber shop and at least one restaurant. It had been a while since I came into this store and I was NOT impressed at the look, feel, nor cleanliness of the store. Although I should say that there is some renovating going on right now. As I walked through the store most of the aisle were clean as they should be! I was not happy with the fact that it was only Wednesday and many of the shelves had missing products. Like my darn Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice. I know it's on sale but this is the Kroger City Center. They should have restocked them by 1 in the afternoon. The sale doesn't end until Saturday. As I entered the grocery area I was met with a Security Gate Sensor. I thought "Damn am I headed into the airport?" WTF???? So I came in for 100% Cranberry Juice and of course it was one of the items that they didn't have. It was on sale for $3.19 and apparently that's a good deal and they were out of it. This gave me a chance to look around a little and I noticed that many of the items in this location were higher than at the Kroger stores near me. Yes I keep up with that. I'm on a budget okay! At the end of that aisle I see Carlo Rossi. A 1.5 Liter bottle on sale for $8.59 regular $10.69. Well this may sound like a deal to you but a bottle twice this size is about $12 -14 near my crib. This store is making a killing on alcoholic beverages folks! So I take my 4 pack of bottled 100% Cranberry Juice ($4.29) to the cashier at the Express Lane and she's talking to a coworker and eating a sandwich. Yeah, I said a damn sandwich, Not chips, not cookies not a candy bar. Hell if it had been chicken fingers, I could have even understood that. But Lettuce, Tomato, Ham, Cheese and Mayo all over the place. Yeah that's a freaking sandwich and you need two hands for that....WOW! And she had the nerves to look at me like "Damn she coming ova here!". Well I gave her my money and she said something (I couldn't understand what she said) and pointed at a coin machine. Apparently the look on my face prompted her to point to the change machine as I assume she said "Get yo damn change outta there.". I said WOW a change machine? How long has this been here? She said "Itz done been here fo a while girl" and she LOL. So I took my change and got up out of there. read more

This Kroger is close to our house and in a pinch I end up going there, and each time I do I come home pissed off and tell me wife I'll never go there again. Not only is the service terrible, but the food selection is usually a bit nasty looking (vs. the Edgewood Kroger) and the other customers usually not a pleasure to be around either. The place is so nasty and dirty that I will not take my son there and if you happen to be there on the day that the money gets applied to the EBT cards the lines can stretch back into the isles. read more

Please be advised that I went there on my lunch break during work to go to the Western Union services. I did not see the 'send money" forms, and due to one person working with a long line, I stood in line patiently for 15 minutes or more to be served. The customer service agent then tells me she was not allowed to send any money due to no forms available. This was totally a waste of my lunch break and unnacceptable customer service. She stated, they are not alowed to put no signs on the Western Union stands stating no forms available. I thought this was totally unacceptable service. PRINCIPLE OF THE FACT: If there are no more forms knowing that people use the Western Services frequently, ensure that there are forms avaialbe. If not, please put a sign up as a courteous to the customers instead of waisting time in the long lines with one customer service agent working. Or advise the agent to make announcements while working to avoid issues. I understand this particular store is not the best area, but treat people with dignity! CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A MUST. I haven't come to this Kroger in years, but I had an excellent experience! It was well stocked and I found everything I needed in a reasonable amount of time and was out of there in no time. Is it the safest area? No, but they have what I need, so that's all that matters. Being that I grew up in that area, seeing the "unsavory" characters is nothing new. Just mind your business and keep it moving. I'm willing to make the additional 15-minute trip just to come to this one. read more

It can definitely be scary in the parking lot--beggars, panhandlers, etc. But here's the way to arm yourself--first, drive a 1989 Dodge Shadow (the beggars feel sorry for you, and leave you alone); second, carry a purse that has a long strap that can go across your chest; third, carry the purse clutched next to your body; fourth, ignore the blasting music coming from the car parked next to yours, keep your eyes focused on the front door, and walk deliberately like you're not scared o' nuttin'. Oh, I forgot--leave your good jewelry and rings at home! Once you're inside the store, it's fine. I've been shopping there forever, and most of the staff know me. They are always helpful and I can usually get good, basic produce there. The manager is great, and really tries to make sure the store is clean, safe, and well-stocked. read more

I couldnt stop laughing after I read the reviews for this Kroger. Im comparison to the others it def sucks. But its still way better than any non national grocery store. I love Bolthouse and Odwalla drinks which they do not carry. They do not carry many of the items I need. I cant really blame them. Based on the demographics of the neighborhood it wouldnt make much sense to carry many natural/ organic food options. I have never been scared to go into this Kroger at any given time of the day. I just don't like being bombarded with guys tryna holla at me when im in the store. Damn I have on sweats and a scarf give me a break. You also get various people approaching you with the latest cds, dvds, rims, indian remy, true religions, all kinda random stuff. I come in know exactly what i want. I get it and get the hell on. I think it's hilarious that people refer to the Moreland Kroger as the "Ghetto Kroger"- I just laugh at them and say "You've never been to the Kroger at Cleveland & Metropolitan have you?". The parking lot is so littered it makes me shutter every time I go. I wish they would just make somewhat of an effort to clean it up- it really is disgusting. Important words of advice when shopping at this Kroger- make a point to look at dates- even on canned foods that have a long shelf life- I recently had to return some chicken stock that was 6 months expired. Produce often has fruit flies in the hot summer months. It's crowded there all the time- no matter what time of day or day of the week. Service is decent enough but often lack luster. One of the only good things about this Kroger is there are often good deals to be found in the organic section- just don't forget to check the date! read more

I come to this Kroger frequently because it's the closest to my home but that is the only reason. The store is not properly kept. Previously, I found a bug in a bag of lettuce. Now i am currently experiencing a 2nd occurrence of buying expired product. Never have I gone to Publix and had to be concerned with the quality or freshness of the product I was purchasing. It's a shame that instead having a convenient, hassle-free shopping trip, I have to thoroughly inspect each and every item I place into my basket. I can expect to do that with perishable goods, but boxed or canned items too? Its unacceptable and I refuse to spend my money here anymore. Though I don't particular care for this area, this kroger wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. When I walked in the smell of it did bother me..it smelled very sour. Surprisingly the store was clean and had been stocked up. The associates who worked there were very friendly and helpful so this made the experience an okay one. I didn't like how there werent many cash registers open which made the time in line longer. I ended up using self check out. Also there were many different types of stores inside this kroger which made me think of a flea market. If they can get rid of the horrible odor and open more cash registers than this kroger would be a lot better. read more

To be fair i went to this Kroger the other day and they actually have started to renovate it. The parking lot has been recently stripped and they have been hand painting the store. They have cute little paintings and chairs and tables for decoration and the vegetable department looks alot fresher than it ever did. It looked scrumptious actually. The cleanliness standards of the Kroger on metropolitan Parkway in Atlanta are consistently terrible. There is always trash in the parking lot, at the store entrance, by the checkout and throughout the store. The staff is very nice but the managent does not seem to think it is important to keep trash off the floor! I have brought this issue to his attention on more than one occasion and he shrugs and says he tries "but these people ..." This is one of the highest grossing Krogers in the region -- mostly because of the lack of competition in the area-- so I understand it is busy. BUT THAT IS EVEN MORE REASON YOU NEED TO AND CAN AFFORD TO MAKE THAT A PRIORITY WHEN STAFFING THIS STORE. Put up more trashcans, and empty them when they are full.
