We attended a Yelp Elite event awhile back which had a ton of Kristens baked goods, and it was safe to say we had to get more of our fix!

Our group of five had an excellent experience at FiNNBAR--also known as one of Frenchtown's…read moretrendiest new spots. It's a must-try if you're visiting the area. The food/drinks, ambiance, and service are all top-notch! We were seated at the back of the restaurant in a private room, which elevated our entire experience. Our server, Jeff, provided exceptional service and made us feel right at home throughout our meal. He answered our flurry of menu-related questions and explained each dish with thoughtful care. We were excited to hear that the restaurant changes its menu daily. FiNNBAR offers an eclectic selection of international wines. We chose a bottle of white wine from Austria, which was excellent. Our group split a few appetizers: focaccia with beet spread, fennel salad, and a crunchy vegetable salad, all of which went quickly! Onto the entrees: I ordered a pork ragu with fried polenta and asparagus. Absolutely phenomenal. Cooked to perfection. Others in our party ordered the homemade casarecce with mushrooms, which also got rave reviews. Some of the best pasta they've ever eaten! All of the portions we received were generous and filling. Props to the entire FiNNBAR staff for their efforts in giving us a great Memorial Day weekend meal. We will certainly be back!

This was an interesting experience. My OG chums and I stopped by here impulsively last night for an…read moreearly dinner. All of us grew up in this area (I was making a humble cameo return) and were thus enormously pleased that the meh weather prevented a lot of the tourists from jamming up the sidewalks on a Saturday afternoon. That extended to the restaurant; it looked like the bar area to the right of the entrance was hopping a bit, but the dining sections to the left were empty or close to it. After jokingly mentioning that we were natives of the Kingdom of Hunterdon, the hostess good-naturedly seated us at the "locals booth," in the corner of the backroom. Only the best for this crew. Given how bougie this daily menu is, I was pretty impressed at the competitive price points; if I'm uncertain what 40% of the ingredients in my dish are, I'm expecting to pay probably twice what I actually did. In true hipster fashion, the menu had a stamp at the top (akin to a ye olde library card) with the day's date, if you needed explicit confirmation that this menu changes every day. It's a limited menu for sure, but that made it easier to narrow down the choices. Very The Bear, if you've recently watched that (disclaimer - it takes a bit of a step back in Season 3). I ordered a Red Hook ($14), which was basically a Manhattan. Pretty tasty - definitely a boozier cocktail but I thought the vermouth they used, coupled with the cherry, gave it kind of a subtle cola vibe. I personally have to be in a very specific mood for this kind of drink but I'd theoretically get it again. We split the fried squash with mint raita, which was the high point for me. I thought it was delicious, and the flavor profile was pretty much perfect. The mint gave it a nice subtle nip without being overwhelming, and the squash was lightly fried and not remotely heavy. A delight. We ended up almost strategically ordering different entrees and thus ended up testing out 75% of that section of the menu. My heart was with the meatballs but I figured you could get meatballs pretty much anywhere, and went with a very edgy pasta dish, Torchio Pasta alla Palina. It was good but in hindsight I should have gone with my heart - it was just not my jam, palate-wise. I'm primarily a texture-based eater so the crunchier aspects were not the selling points I'm sure they are for others. And I'm sure this is a very specific, intentional decision based on the type of pasta dish, but it seemed a touch dry, like it needed some kind of sauce to moisten the pasta overall. It WAS a little better in that regard when I stirred in the wetter bottom more. A unique taste for sure, and I do want to make it clear this was a decent dish but just a better fit for someone else. The service was interesting. We ended up getting assigned the general manager as our primary waiter (one or two others made quick cameo appearances as well). When the GM initially came to our table, he seemed almost startled, like he'd recognized one of us but didn't want to bring that up, or wasn't sure where he knew the person. All of us picked up on it. And that skittery demeanor pervaded the meal; it was almost like having a cat for a waiter, who looked like they might bolt out the room at the first sign of a bird in the window. I really don't know how else to describe it, but he was PERFECTLY nice to us and turnaround times and communication were very solid. Maybe something else was going on behind the scenes or we should have picked up on something, but it certainly made the meal more memorable. Overall, this was very pleasant. Most places in Frenchtown and the surrounding river towns are either very obviously catering to the out-of-towners or are going hardcore local but this is a rare one that I think does navigate the two worlds pretty deftly.

We were visiting our son, and Jenny, in OH and had never heard of this brand. I brought two jars back to our home in MA. Put this marmalade out as we entertained and "What a Hit". Guests were asking like crazy were we got this delicious app spread. I give this spread a 10++++++. Wish it was sold in MA. But luckily, James and Jenny are visiting soon and bringing us lots of jars. One enjoyment in life is food.....and this is a must to try. Guaranteed you will WANT MORE. Jeannie M. Eat This sells a fairly diverse group of pate, pickled vegetables, jams, marmalades and desserts…read more You can buy their stuff either through their website or at one of the farmers markets that they set up at such as Stockton or Saucon Valley. Now there are two things worth noting with their products: 1. They are very, very expensive. Charging $8.00 or more for a small five or nine ounce jar isn't exactly going to win you a huge following because no matter how good things may taste, people are going to walk on by without trying anything as soon as they see the price. This was confirmed by another vendor at the Saucon Valley Farmers Market who told me that while the flavors are solid, people are scared off because of the prices. 2. Speaking of the flavors, they are kick ass. I bought a small jar of the bacon marmalade and it was amazing! On a burger? Hell Yeah! On a grilled cheese? Damn Right! I also tried some of the peach jam and it was very good. (The lovely wife's is better but then again I am contractually obligated to say that.) I mean if you're one of those Bucks County Yuppie types who has more money than God then by all means knock yourself out because Eat This delivers big flavor on all fronts. They also deliver big prices which is going to keep the common man such as myself away permanently or buying only as a rare splurge. (He'll take $1.00 off a future order if you bring back the glass jar.)

It puts every diner to shame. The food is absolutely fantastic! So fresh they overdeliver they even have fresh turkey sliced every day to put on their sandwiches. We just moved to Frenchtown and do not have a workable kitchen yet so we've eaten every lunch there for two weeks and try something different every time. I can't recommend a single sandwich or salad because every single one was just perfect including the soups. Don't even get me started with the staff. They're so good. They are attentive, fast, kind, everything you would wish a waste to have to be when you're tired and hungry. They just deliver. So standing ovation to the kitchen and the staff. And the atmosphere is quaint and simple, not overdone and too cute. They have outdoor seating in the warmer months and there seems to almost always be aligned so going to yelp and getting yourself on the waiting list is probably super smart. We love the Frenchtown Cafe. XO Nanci and Michael.

I also tried the soup of the day which is the chicken corn chowder and I highly enjoyed it. It's a very small cafe and not much room to move about so when it's packed it gets pretty noisy. The couple things I want to note are around how long it was to wait for a table and food. We arrived in the area around 1125am and I called to place my name on the wait-list. Upon answering, the hostess informed me you have to place your name on the waitlist in person. No issue, I walked over to do this. Only to find out that the waitlist is monitored by Yelp, which can easily be done online. So that was very frustrating to see at the start. We then were told to wait 15-20 minutes. When we got to the front of the list, they then informed us that we needed to wait an additional 20-30 minutes as the kitchen needed to flip. This was very confusing and a big turn off. Eventually, I spoke with a woman who allowed us to come inside and sit down instead of waiting outside for over an hour. It would have been nice to know at the outset of this whole interaction that breakfast wasn't going to be an option and then it would be an hour before we could order and eat. At the end of the day, we ate our great food and enjoyed being able to dine at this place. I will just look into a few more places on my next visit here.
