Such a cute ice cream spot! There's outdoor seating with 3 picnic tables and string lights above giving it such a cute summer vibe. I love how simple it is with the pops of color. The service was great! The girl working was very nice and friendly. I had the campfire smores, cookies and cream & the coffee ice cream. Out of the three, I'd recommend the coffee ice cream! There were brownie chunks in it which made it taste extra good and the coffee flavor wasn't overpowering. The campfire flavor was very sweet, good if you have a sweet tooth. And the cookies & cream was light, not too much flavor. The tables could be a bit cleaner but all else is good. Overall, a very nice spot to have ice cream and relax outside! I returned here for another selection of ice cream. Once again, it was very clear the ice cream was homemade based on the texture I thought. I went with a regular bowl and went with two different flavors, banana cream pie as well as cookies and cream. The banana cream pie was not bad. I was hoping for more of a banana flavor present, but it was not there. It was still very good though because of the cream pie aspect. The cookies and cream were definitely my preferred choice. Did your parents ever take you to an historic village with makeshift replicas of old buildings, reenactors, etc.? Well, this ice cream place is in a log cabin that would fit right in there. I impulsively stopped by this past Saturday after getting a bite to eat nearby, still a little hungry. The ghost town that was the Liberty Village outlets is right over here, but I'm always surprised to find that there's this little strip of edgy, mostly artisan-like businesses behind it that seem to be thriving. The immediate area was fairly busy but there's so much parking over here due to the outlets (RIP); I was able to park right in front with little difficulty. I definitely had quite a few options to choose from, ranging from fairly normal, mainstream flavors to some edgier ones that are a little more off the beaten track (nothing I haven't seen before, but also definitely flavors I'd classify as creative). I opted for a small cup of the white chocolate raspberry truffle, which I made eye contact with almost immediately and went back to after perusing the rest of the wares. With tip, it was $5, which in this environment is perfectly reasonable. There's an excellent ice cream shop where I live now in Passaic County where you can't get any size for less than $6, which is pretty nutty but unfortunately par for the course. As you can see from the attached picture, it was a generous portion and definitely hit the spot. The perfect palate cleanser. It was a bit of a raw late winter day so I was the only customer on the premises at the time. Regardless, excellent service, and the girl behind the counter was very friendly/helpful. When I mused aloud that the white chocolate raspberry truffle looked intriguing, she was encouraging without being overbearing. My only constructive feedback is that they should get a few tables inside for seating, especially on a nippy day like this (there is outdoor seating from what I could see, which didn't seem appetizing in 40-degree weather) - there definitely is room without it being too claustrophobic, etc. I'm a native of the Kingdom of Hunterdon, and I'll be the first to tell you it's not much in the way of a gastro scene (case in point - the ridiculous love everyone has for Bamboo House in Frenchtown, which is very mediocre if you've ever sampled any other sushi. Anyway.). However, additions to the area like this give me hope that I'll have something in the future to brag about beyond the abundant cows and lush farmland optics. read more

Nestled within the Liberty Village (closed) footprint, Humdoo Ice Cream sits humbly amongst other local businesses that share Stangl Road that parallels the Black River & Western Railroad line. We were enticed to come here through a Facebook event, and glad that we made the trip. I will be remiss if I did not mention the scenic relevance of Flemington, and the beauty of it in conjunction with this review. Aside from the railroad, Flemington appears to be a beautiful town, where agriculture and suburbia clash together to bring about a diverse display of these sub-cultures of Americana. This really set the stage for visitors coming into Flemington to Humdoo. Stangl road, itself, is set apart, almost like a secret nook. Coming off Main Street, the thoroughfare looks like it would lead to a residential area, but is in fact quite the contrary. Local businesses emerge and line either side of the road as you turn onto it, with roadside parking that you don't have to parallel park into. Humdoo Ice Cream nestles amongst these businesses that create an outdoor, walking mall of sorts. Age, amongst other factors, really make us suckers for punishment when it comes to fancying and enjoying ice cream. Perhaps it was an "one-off-day" for us, but the frozen treats at Humdoo were amazing and delicious without the complimentary side effects. The flavors of the frozen cream were just right - not too sweet, but also not too milky if that makes sense. I believe the ice cream were only available as hard ice-cream (no soft-serve) and held great together (did not melt away as quickly as other ice cream typically do; perhaps it was the season that play apart in this as well). The flavor, texture, and consistency made Humdoo's frozen delights incredibly enjoyable. There was a decent range of flavor selections which were all unique in their own way - I imagine that you cannot go wrong with any of the flavors (although I highly recommend the White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle). There is an indoor restroom within the creamery, however seating is very limited. The business does accept credit card as a form of payment. It was delightfully surprising to find a local creamery open as early as February while still being in the winter season. We are definitely going to come back for more when the weather gets warmer to give it another go! read more

Went into this spot from pure peer pressure, as I was on a diet.. lol. But, so glad that I did! I couldn't pass up the seasonal pumpkin ice cream during my favorite time of year! It was so good! Not overpowering with fake tasting autumn spices.. just the right amount of spice with a very balanced flavor. Just creamy enough.. not too thick, not too airy. It was inside this plaza next to other cute shops. The outside looks like a mini cabin. There was many sitting outside just relaxing. The flavor choices were outside near the door. The campfire smore's caught my eye. Once I walked inside it was simple but super cute. The 2 girl's staff was super sweet. The waffle cone was only $1. We all got the chocolate waffle cone with 2 scoops of ice cream. It was actually pretty cheap for an ice cream. I never really finish my ice cream when I get one because its normally too sweet or too icy from being in the freezer for too long. This ice cream was fresh and just the right amount of sweetness. Definitely did not taste like the ones from the ice cream cartons. It was so good I wanted more of it. read more

Went into Humdoo on a whim, and I'm so glad I did! TL;DR: the Cannoli flavored ice cream is easily the best I've ever had, and potentially better than a REAL cannoli. Here's the longer version of the story: Intrigued by the menu posted outside, I decided to bring a few different flavors home for the family: S'mores, Cannoli, Birthday Cake, and two others whose names are escaping me. We are self-proclaimed ice cream (and probably popcorn) connoisseurs, and we are tough critics when it comes to food. But Humdoo definitely gets our seal of approval! The kids loved the Birthday Cake and the other flavor, which I believe was vanilla ice cream with cookie dough and brownie pieces. I finally got around to tasting the Cannoli flavored ice cream later that night and I was BLOWN AWAY. I am a huge fan of cannolis and cannoli flavored confections. Cannolis are to me as shrimps are to Bubba. This ice cream is hands-down one of the most enjoyable flavors anywhere. Big pieces of cannoli shell, mini chocolate chips, and somehow, the ice cream tastes EXACTLY like cannoli cream. I'm dying to know how they do it. I have two more flavors in the freezer that are waiting to be eaten tonight: S'mores and (forgot the name) their take on Espresso. I'm sure both will be big hits. read more
