Krista's is our favorite restaurant anywhere. As near as we can determine, we've been there over 60 times since 2008, and we have never, ever been less than pleased. We hesitate to recommend a menu item, because we don't think you can go wrong. We do believe that Krista's lobster roll (when available) and Rueben will beat anything else you've had before. I've had no better prime rib anywhere. The service is superb; new servers are obviously well-trained, and "old-timers" are like family. During "the season", try to make reservations for dinner in advance, or try to visit between usual lunch and dinner hours (our strategy). But if you're in the area, find an opportunity to visit. read more

I ordered a regular Bloody Mary....I was charged for a "special" Bloody Mary which was $4 more than the regular one. I told the waitress I didn't order a "special" one yet I was still charged for it. Doubtful I'll ever return.....all over $4. Terrible service. Also took almost 20 minutes before we we even asked for our drink order. Food was excellent. But service was horrible! read more

From their specialty cocktails to their delicious warm bread & starter salads (comes with every entree) to their adorable decor, and their hearty entree portions of home-cooked goodness... Driving around Maine today..decided to stop for a late lunch..oh so happy we did. Fantastic service...amazing food! Had our choice of inside or outside...while the patio a boho chic, we decided on inside. Wow how lovely and inviting. Our waitress, Kim , was friendly and efficient. Had the soup special...chicken veggie. Hands down the best soup I have had in a long time. Super flavorful. On to the sandwich's..should have come with a warning...beyond generous. I had the harvest..it was having thanksgiving between two slices to Texas toast. The Cole slaw and pickled sides added so much to a wonderful meal. My husband had the steak wrap special and the sweet potato fries. Again..wow! Per our waitress, Krista makes everything herself...so we had to try dessert. Our wonderful waiter was captivating with his description of the dessert options...Blueberry cheesecake...amazing. If only we were not so far from home we would come back in a heartbeat for dinner. All I can say is, YUM! Krista's was an excellent place to stop for lunch. My husband and I are used to bigger city eats, and Krista's has that upscale taste with a casual vibe. We were impressed with their house-made corned beef and pastrami, and my father-in-law and I split their amazing lobster roll, lightly dressed with a housemade aoili. My mother-in-law ordered their spike lemon sweet tea, which is made with Limoncello, House Tea, and Maker's Mark, garnished with mint leaves. So refreshing, so delicious. We assured that we would be back. Outstanding service, we were asked by every server how our meal was, but were also left alone to enjoy our lunch. Our dog got a bowl of ice water and some treats and some love :) They were amazing! We also noticed that they were very cognizant of Covid19, they offered paper menus, they changed our their facemasks, and they made sure we were comfortable the entire time. Love them!! read more

I don't think the pictures on here do justice to how HUGE the portion sizes are. Add to that the prices and you get so much bang for your buck - nothing in Portland can compete value wise. Back to the beginning - the minute I walked in, I was in love. The atmosphere here is so warm and inviting. You enter by the bar/lounge area and I could immediately see myself here again. We were seated right away (no 40 minute wait like I'd have at most any Portland eatery on a weekend morning for brunch). We were greeted by our waiter (in training) - Jaelyn (??). He did an impressive job for someone who was just learning - keeping our coffee filled and checking on us just the right amount. The food was amazing - all of it! I had the Mexican style home fries with cheese, salsa, sour cream and onions & peppers. There must have been two whole potatoes here. I also ordered a side of corned beef hash. This was $3.95 I think and was larger than any serving I've ever had. I also had "one lonely egg" - for $1. No toast or anything - just the egg. And finally, I also had an enormous grilled ginger pear muffin. It was all so delicious! This combined with the lack of crowds and the fact that my bill was $18 including my tip - this would be my go to brunch spot if it wasn't 40 minutes away from my home. I just love this place. I have stopped in many times for lunch, and had my first dinner recently. Meals here are always wonderful. Fresh ingredients and very creative combinations make for a memorable meal. Their lunches are pretty big, but the dinners are enormous. Both my wife and I ate half the dinner and were full. I've heard such great things about this restaurant so the family decided to take a trip over today to try it out. We arrived at 11:45 and a very unpleasant woman told us that it would be 15 or so minutes before we could order because they were between breakfast and lunch. There were plenty of empty tables to be seated at but instead we waited by the door for about ten minutes. She seemed even more irritated because she had to walk through us to get to the outside tables. As we waited we tried to connect to their "Guest internet" yes it said Kristas Guest. We asked for the password and were told they don't have guest internet. Ok great. We were finally seated in a cute section that had a half booth section and chairs. The young woman who filled our waters was very pleasant as was our waitress. We ordered and while we waited for our food our little five year old who has Down Syndrome thought it would be fun to toss packets of sugar on the ground and laugh. This is one of the reasons we would have loved to have internet service so she could watch her Princess Sofia to distract her. There was no service for us on any of our phones out in Cornish. Well at the next table over an older woman was sitting with her husband, daughter in her late 40s and her husband. I glanced over and the older woman was completely disgusted at our daughter and the completely 'horrible' thing she was doing. Our 11 year old was picking the packets up as the little one would toss but then the woman and I exchanged glances and she says to me so very harshly and with large hand movements "they are EVERYWHERE!" While this was happening my husband and other daughter were trying to get Princess Sofia on their phones. The woman then said to her family while shaking her head "and look at them all on their phones, ridicilous". At this point I asked her what her problem was. Our daughter was not being disruptive loudly, she was just having fun in her own way, which we were diffusing in our own way. She and her daughter became enraged and belligerent. I was so angry l finally just broke down in tears because in all of the years we have had a child with a disability this is the first time anyone has been so heartless and callous. A family at another table told us not to worry about it, that she was just fine and thought it was cute. That was sweet, but I honestly felt I was a part of a very bad episode of "What would you do?". The nice family didn't ask the other table to just stop. They didn't want to be a part of it which I understand but it hurt. The staff of Krista's is another story. They heard what was going on, and not a one helped, they just turned their heads and then went into huddles to talk about it. Our waitress did apologize as we asked for boxes to pack up our un eaten food and gave us our bill. What an absolutely horrible experience this was from beginning to end. It's hard to comment on the food because we haven't got the stomach to touch it. I wish a manager would have just checked in. Again, I've heard nothing but wonderful things of the food and environment, unfortunately for us this time around was kind of life changing. This is a review purely based on our experience. Update: I did eat my muffaletta for dinner, it was very good and the focaccia it was on tasted freshly baked even after bringing it home. My daughter liked her burger, another liked her pulled pork, my husband said the cajun quesadilla (special for this day) wasn't great. Maybe he is just still upset or maybe it wasn't good. But either way 3 out of 4 isn't bad. I'm still upset but they do have a lot of good reviews and apparently a loyal following. I hope that maybe in the future they might be more friendly, aware and helpful though. read more

Without a doubt, no exaggeration, one of the very best restaurants, if not the best, I have ever been to. I am still amazed by the whole experience. The food is a step above superb. Went to visit our grandchildren and my daughter suggested Kristas. I figured a basic small town lunch. Not. The menu is fabulous and it is difficult to choose. I got a crab cake in tomato wrap, and my daughter got a reuben. We traded halves and both were heavenly. The reuben was the best I have ever had, without exception. The crab was just as heavenly. My granddaughter got the pulled pork. Again, just as good. The fries, both regular and sweet potato were excellent. And pickles. They looked different, almost like homemade. They were homemade. Just like granny's. The best bread and butter pickles I have ever had. Who eats the pickle? You will. Then buy some to go. We went back for breakfast this morning. Again, floored by the portion, the quality and atmosphere. Pancakes the size of tractor tires loaded with fresh berries. Fluffy and delicious with real maple syrup. The corned beef hash is easily worth a 150 mile ride to get to. Potato, brisket, carrot slivers and onions. Eggs perfectly cooked and fresh. The muffins have to be tried to be believed. Todays flavors were lemon poppy and strawberry peach cobbler. I never liked muffins. I do now. The restaurant itself is warm, friendly and super inviting. The bar is very warm also. The people are friendly and know very well what they are about. I cannot wait to go back. If you are in New England, no matter how far away, the trip is worth it. It is just simply that good. There will probably be a line to get in. Wait. You will not regret it. What an amazing, top notch place in a very unlikely spot. Had Thanksgiving dinner here. Went for dinner this past week. I had prime rib and my wife had shrimp pasta with spinach stuffed ravioli served with a corn and leek lobster cream sauce. My dinner included delicious and obviously locally sourced steamed vegetables cooked to perfection along with mashed potatoes. Both meals were delicious. The cocktails were tasty and innovative. I don't think I can find superlatives that are superlative to the many 5-star reviews for Kristas. This is one of those rare cases where everything you read is actually true. Food: outstanding, simple, giant portions (is that a pancake or a frisbee?). The french toast was my favorite. Oh and the bacon. Yummy bacon. Service: also outstanding. I sat at the bar on a not-very-crowded late winter Saturday morning and it was spectacular. I got the feeling that the folks that were working there together were genuinely kind and liked working with one another. And that kindness made its way to the customers, many of whom seemed to be regulars. Atmosphere: I mean what can I say, if I owned a charming restaurant in Maine, it would probably look exactly like this. I feel truly lucky to have found Kristas. You walk in and waddle out because you cannot stop eating this delicious food. Those that read my reviews, find I may lean towards the negative for reviews, but this and a few in the area are always great. I hate to provide a good review as I do not want others to know about this, but if you are out and about, make a reservation and stop in. You will not be disappointed from appetizers through desert and coffee to top it off. We always have take home food even for breakfast, which they served before covid started. first time for left over breakfast, but it was so good, we had to bring back what we did not eat. Black Friday my Auntie's took my mom and me here for lunch before an afternoon of shopping in the quaint little town of Cornish. We had a fabulous lunch, food was very good and plentiful. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and our server was a sweetheart. All in all - a win. We went back again this morning, mom and my daughter/son-in-law this time. Same great food, same friendly service, same great atmosphere. The staff was all decked out in holiday togs, full of cheer. Breakfast this morning was a veggie omelet -took 1/2 home w/ cinnamon raisin toast; a fruit cup followed by bacon/cheddar stuffed french toast - again 1/2 went home; the corned beef w/ a side of Cajun home fries - 1/2 homeward bound; lastly the hash w/ eggs over easy & raisin toast - nothing came home. As if that wasn't enough we followed breakfast with a couple desserts - maple creme brulee & a cheesecake w/ coconut and salted caramel served in a canning jar, both were good but neither knocked our socks off. The homemade hash was cripsy, meaty with bits of veggies. "Better than Congdon's" - a donut shop in Wells that makes pretty good hash- were the reports. Even the coffee is served in huge cups though not my favorite blend too smokey or French roasty. I would love to make this a regular breakfast/lunch spot even with the 20+ minute ride, but dropping $85 pre-tip for breakfast will make it more of a special spot for us than a weekly - and yes, the service is worth a 20% tip easily. New favorite spot! The food is fantastic, the ambiance is warm and casual, the waitstaff is attentive and friendly, and the food is fantastic (did I mention that?!) Worth the drive from wherever you are. This unassuming quaint corner building holds a jewel of a restaurant. We had reservations so got right in. (Yelp had said they are closed Mondays, but they are not). A variety of rooms and updated corners. Quaint local signs and decorations, but not overdone. Attentive, friendly staff always there - and fun! When the AC was a bit high blowing on us, they turned it down for comfort. We were not ignored. Tables are cozy but we had some casual talk with our neighbors. Down-home comfort. The mushroom appetizer was unique and flavorful. The homemade side breads delicious. The dinner salad was fresh greens, mostly arugula, with dried cranberries, almonds, light onion rings and a perfect compliment of balsamic dressing. The prime rib was cooked to order and glazed with a nice flavor (which I personally would like on the side, but it was so good I kept eating even when full). The bacon-wrapped pork medallions were great as well and contained more meat than you would think from the looks. All the vegetables were very lightly steamed with a hint of seasoning (perfect) and the mashed potatoes were to point. We asked to see the dessert tray (because we already had a large paper bag of take-home leftovers) .. just to "see".. but couldn't resist the home-made goodies and brought two home to have later. I have driven past this spot for years, never knowing that it existed. My friend suggested it as my going-away-on-a-trip dinner and it will remain memorable forever.
