Hardy box of 16 pieces of dark meat chicken.
    Theresa R.

Thanks to other Yelpers, we tried this little hole in the wall, mini-mart, in Richmond - for better than the chain store, tender fried chicken!! I thought I was at the wrong place, to be honest. Once inside, they have a real deal set up, no-nonsense counter, and a sweet order taker who will crack a smile if you smile at her, taking your order quickly and efficiently. You then walk over to the mini-mart cashier, 4 feet to the left, and pay for your order and whatever other mini-mart grocery must have. I then waited for my order while watching how much perfectly, hot and fried, chicken was being produced behind the counter case. It didn't have time to sit under a heat lamp, it went into the container to my box within minutes. We ate a hardy meal of chicken, mash potatoes and gravy, Mac n cheese, red beans and rice, Cole slaw, fries and shrimp. Admittedly, the sides were just ok, in comparison. The flavors were there, but they were packaged beforehand and sat, so they didn't taste as fresh. You know that chicken was still crunchy and delicious eaten cold, the next day! Wow.

    Halal Fried Chicken

Being from New Orleans, gotta love seeing some Louisiana-based fried chicken joints in the Bay Area. What's extra awesome about this spot is that they use halal chicken, which is great for those with dietary restrictions. I typically get a mixed bucket of chicken, with some biscuits, fries, and Mac n cheese. I have had their tenders and boneless wings as well, but you have to get their chicken, biscuits, and fries. You can ask them to sub drumsticks for wings if you'd like as well. They have a lot of sauce options, so ask them before you leave so you get what you need. It's at a gas station so parking is easy. Check them out!

The best chicken around. This location is always fresh and the chicken is always seasoned properly. I will drive further to come to this location. The chicken is delicious. Don't let the fact that it is inside a gas station deter you.

look at that cajun sauce inside! SO GOOD

It's located in a gas station. Not a lot of parking. Service is good. A little pricy, but tasty chicken.

The size of the chicken pieces are almost twice the size as KFC. The flavor of the chicken is delicious.

Only inside the gas station. Each location has their own prices so they won't be listed online other than Yelp.

I came once but I don't see any Halal food certified kind of sign in store , how we can know it's halal . Please put anything in store so all Muslim community people come and enjoy food?

HALAL CERTIFICATE IS POSTED ON THE COUNTER 💯 % HALAL

Salaam , I wanted to find out if the jambalaya and the chicken rollup is also Halal?? I got concerned after I ate the sausage in the jambalaya

YES, HALAL CHICKEN & HALAL BEEF LINK ARE PUT INTO THE JAMBALAYA

Something everyone can be surprised with and makes a great conversation starter like aliens and I used to have toy like that growing up. lol good meal combo I got with mild chicken sandwich with fries and a drink was very enjoyable and I would be more than happy to come back to World Famous Hotboys. After talking with the person taking orders I went with the Chicken Sando with Medium+ heat and side of Mac & Cheese, Also got the Loaded Fries as well. Chicken Sando was nice and crispy and flavorful, sauce, coleslaw and pickle with the chicken was pefect combo. Next time I'll go up 1 heat level as I found the Medium+ wasn't warm enough for me. The side of Mac & Cheese was ok, I wish they had some hot sauce I could have added to it. The Loaded Fries were really good, the combo of the pickles, sauce, chicken, fries and coleslaw hit perfectly ! my only complain was for $15 I wish I would of gotten more for my money. Not that I dislike Dave's Hot Chicken but overall I preferred the chicken here over Dave's, would recommend this to anyone who likes Spicy Chicken.

But I'm so glad I was finally introduced to it. The staff greet you promptly when you enter and you can even watch them work effortlessly together in the open prep-station behind the counter. They have a gorgeous display of deli items, wines, cheeses, cold sides, and even some cute candles & house made croutons. They've got everything you would need for an elevated picnic or even a barbecue with the family. They have an intriguing selection of house made sausages-- the Chicken Tikka Masala sausage caught my eye and I can't wait to try it. They also sell whole smoked quail that are seasoned heavily yet each bite has just the right amount of smokiness, spices, and salt. Their hot food items and sandwiches are perfect for a quick lunch during your break from work or on your way home. There are also a few counter seats if you want to enjoy your meal there. So far I've tried the smoked quail, the Muffaletta sandwich, and their green lentil soup with chicken + veg. The sandwich was filled to the brim and each bite was a flavor bomb. The lentil soup was very comforting & paired well with the smoked quail. I'm looking forward to trying everything they have to offer.

They were very happy with their arugula salads. I ordered the mac n cheese which was okay. Even though I grew up in El Cerrito, I sometimes feel like my NorCal green card has expired. I've lost touch with my small batch, organic self. (Although I have never liked arugula) This store is adorable and just the kind of independent neighborhood place that should be frequented and appreciated. Unfortunately I also had to use the bathroom and they don't have one for customers. So they recommended walking a block away to the BevMo. So I guess that added some negative feelings.

After trying my first Dave's in Pinole, this was my 2nd and had the same experience: consistent. This one is in El Cerrito Plaza Shopping Center by the BART station. I ordered Dave's # 2: Two sliders with fries and comes with pickles ($17.49). I chose the medium with heat options of No Spice, Little Mild, Mild, Medium, Hot, Extra Hot and Reaper. I also got a side of Kale Slaw ($4.59) and added a large Crispy Fried Pickles ($7.99). Mind you, this was a snack, so the sliders were the perfect size. One for me and one for the wifey and we shared the rest. The chicken is crispy on the outside but was simultaneously moist and tender inside. The heat level is basically how many (or how little) they sprinkled on the spice powder. The side of Kale Slaw provided a nice buffer to cut out the saltiness as it's a nice balance of crispy, fresh veggies with a sweet and tangy flavor. I also loved the side of pickles that came with the # 2. They're just plain pickles, and they were definitely better than the Crispy Fried Pickles (skip in my opinion). These were overly seasoned and salty to my liking. I ended up removing the breading just to get to the pickles inside. I also found the price to be too steep to justify the price and quantity that came with it. Overall, it's a solid sandwich that makes chicken right. Better than KFC, but not Popeye's and Jollibee.
