I had to ask for 3 special orders of 4 piece dark meats as they don't have anything more than this. Bill came out to $27 for 12 pieces of drumsticks and thighs. The bucket was waiting for me when I arrived 10 minutes earlier. Nothing fancy about this chicken shack. It's on your immediate left upon entering Penryn's 76 gas station Food Mart after the cash register. A few gnomes and a Chik Fil-A cow (what!?) above the heat lamps with stacks of empty boxes. Settled my bill, snapped a few photos and hurried back home. My initial impression of my first few bites were that there's no way this was going to beat my best FC meal in the US, which was Chicago's Harold's. KKC 4 stars at best. This is the new and improved "KFC" of the present. Delicious chicken pieces with great breading. Service is super friendly and seems like a homey small town welcome. Ambience and bright and clean with several extra options from the 76 station market that it's in. (Ie drinks & desserts, chips, handy essentials...) Customer service is horrible. This is the second time ive been here both times it's been bad. This time i wanted to try the shrimp. The blonde girl ringing me up yelled to the cook "one order of shrimp sorry!" Then she said it takes 5-7 minutes to make are you sure you want it. I said ya. Then she yelled to the cook she still wants it. So the cook came over told her it's 10minutes. So she said actually it's 10minutes are you sure you still want it. I said ya. So she yelled back at the cook sorry she still wants it. Then she proceeded to pack my chicken tenders up the sat on the counter out of the heat lamp while the shrimp was cooking. I was skeptical but a friend told me I had to try. I didn't know if he was kidding me but I was in the area and thought why not. It was amazing. Hot, fresh, just spicy enough and the sides were all delicious. And from a gas station?! yup. I have since been to a few others and the chicken has been dry and old to mediocre. I'm assuming these are all franchised so depending on how your specific location is managed, it could be great or disgusting. Difficult to review. Heading up to Tahoe we stopped at the 76 gas station and saw they had a Kristy Krunchy Chicken inside. I've heard good things about their chicken, but had some reservation about "gas station food" . We decided to give it a shot and order 6 chicken strips. It was surprisingly decent. They were good sized strips and seasoned well enough I was eating them without any bbq sauce. I will say a few pieces were a little rubbery and the coating wasn't really crispy or crunchy unfortunately. 11/8 after 3:40 p.m. After the disappointing service with the Auburn location, my mom & I drove 18 miles from the Auburn store to this Krispy Krunchy Chicken location in Penryn. At this gas station, you walk in the door and to the left of the store, there is a seperate counter for the Krispy Krunchy Chicken customers. A wonderful older woman and a young man were working behind the counter, with a hot case full of chicken and sides. I had called before arriving to make sure they had Chicken and the woman on the phone offered to make me a fresh 8 piece batch of chicken. As we walked toward the counter where they serve the chicken, my mom & I were greeted with a smiling woman. She asked how she could help us and I told her that my mom & I called in an 8 piece order. There it was, boxed and ready. The young man behind the counter was hard at work also greeted us with a smile. With our boxes of chicken in hand and a smile on everyone's face, we were off for a long ride home. My mom commented that they looked happy working compared to the other store we were at. This was by far the best Krispy Krunchy Chicken that I have been to. I love that this location opens at 8am (that's a bit early for chicken lol) and even on holidays. As soon as we walked in we were greeted immediately with a warm welcome and were greeted with all of that delicious looking chicken lol. The menu is like the others they have your chicken meals, chicken strips, Krispy shrimp, sides, honey butter biscuits and other items. Prices are great and they have a nice variety of dipping sauces. Our chicken was super fresh and had just come out of the fryer. I ordered a two piece and two honey butter biscuits while my significant other ordered the three piece tenders and a biscuit. The chicken was amazing!!! It was seasoned and battered so well, you could even see that the seasoning had sunk into the meat as well. It was very juicy, fresh and crispy. Some of the best fried chicken I have ever had and that's no lie. It tasted home made and tasted completely different from the location in Hayward. The honey butter biscuits were delicious as well, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and that honey butter was soaked all throughout the biscuit. The chicken strips were great also, very flavorful, crispy and went well with the honey mustard AND special dipping sauce. Overall when I'm in the Roseville area I will be coming back here for my fried chicken fix, it was definitely worth it. We're still talking about how good this chicken was a week later!! read more

AND a couple of downright MEAN employees I usually get just enough chicken for myself and it's usually smooth but if I order enough for say 5 people they complain and tell me they don't have enough and to call first. 3 out of the last 4 times I called ahead to give them a heads up that I wanted chicken enough for 4-6 people they don't answer the phone So if you are by yourself and want a 1-2 pieces of amazing chicken go there and try not to make them mad!!! I feel like this is some of the best chicken commercially available, 5. Never had any issues with the chicken. Today was my first time ordering the family meal and receiving the fries. I wasn't allowed to substitute the fries out. I was surprised at the number of fries that came with the family meal but what I was surprised about more is how stale the fries were. They tasted as though they'd been cooked days prior and left out and then reheated. Extremely poor quality. I can only assume this was because of preparation as these are not manufactured in house. If you want KKC prepared and cooked the right way, this spot inside the 76 gas station is one of the best in greater Sacramento area. I must admit it tasted like the Filipino favorite Jollibee friend chicken. It is slightly cheaper than KFC. They really try hard for you to tip. I'm slightly ashamed. My favorite fried chicken comes from a small corner of a 76 Gas Station off Penryn Rd Exit. I've come here several times over the years. It's our guilty, shameful treat for delicious comfort. I've hit this place after a long night of losses in Reno, not because I was hungry, but because I needed to feel like a winner. It's that good. Haven't been here in a year or so, and decided to stop by this busy gas station to pick up something quick while I was on a conference call. Cathy was very helpful and quick to ring my order. She made sure I had my dipping sauces, and I was on my way! The chicken is crispy and so flavorful. You can see spices through the batter and on the chicken itself. The fresh and hot honey biscuit has the perfect amount of sweet crunch on the outside and flakiness on the inside. I prefer chicken on the bone and BF likes boneless. The chicken strips were dry and cold!? We only live 10 minutes away...so they should've been FRESH! They were so dry they were hard to swallow!? Tasted like they sat all day!?
