This time there was no other vegetables, 3 small slices of carrots and I don't know what the other stuff was, and my shrimp was rubber. It was cooked too long. I got 4 smaller that usual shrimp. These guys are being stingy with the food and charged almost $20 for a dish that was mostly mushrooms. Last time I checked mushrooms were pretty cheap still. The shrimp needs to be the bigger size like before and have at least 8 to 10 pieces to be considered what they called it. My husband said he was okay with his food. Not like it was usually, however,he was going to eat on it for the next few days anyway. We didn't eat in the restaurant. We did take out.

Hubby's order: small plate with brisket and mac n cheese. Plus a cherry lime fresh squeezed lemonade. This is a small place with large flavors. Seems like most orders are to-go although there is a small patio area for when it's not hotter than shit. Workers are hella kind. Customers waiting for food will chat you up about why this place is so good. The large plate was huge. Jerk chicken was spiced so well...that almost too spicy but I can't quit eating it. And not a dry chicken piece in the bunch. Ribs were smoky and spiced well. Mac and cheese, noms. Cabbage was also delish with bits of bell pepper mixed in. But I stole a bite of that brisket and I wanted more more more. Everything here is made in-house, super authentic, and at a great price. It's clean and well-lit inside, and I even got a tour of the kitchen/storage which is well-organized and I saw that everything is made from scratch. I had the xiaolongbao, $9 for 8 pcs which is easily the best price in Davis. There's a good amount of meat inside and the meat is really soft. The chili oil was also great imo, not overpowering like other places and perfectly spicy. Unc Wei has made xiaolongbao for 20 years and is looking for feedback as he wants to make sure the filling suits local tastes. Highly recommend and will be coming back often!
